Optional browser analytics

If you choose “Allow analytics”, this website stores a random browser identifier for up to 180 days and a session identifier with a 30-minute inactivity timeout. They help Jason understand new and returning browsers, pages visited, approximate country, referring website, devices, time a page is visible and in focus, scrolling, and clicks on transcript, download, donation and external links. Page addresses may reveal the topic of a recording. These records are used to produce website statistics, not to infer a visitor’s health or build advertising profiles.

The private dashboard uses this website’s own database; it does not depend on Google. Optional Google Analytics is also loaded after you allow analytics, using measurement ID G-C6DQ3VDL54. Google processes information under its own policies; see Google’s privacy policy. We do not send names, emails or search terms to the analytics dashboard.

Anonymous page-request totals

The website also keeps counts of HTML page requests by hour, page, approximate country, referring domain, response status and bot category. These counts contain no visitor ID, stored IP address, full browser user-agent or full referring URL. They cannot identify unique visitors. Requests may include bots, privacy tools and people who decline optional analytics. Your browser sends an IP address to the hosting service to load the website, and that service may maintain its own operational logs.

Changing your choice

Use “Privacy choices” at the bottom of the website at any time. Declining stops optional collection and removes this site’s analytics identifiers from your browser. A preference is stored for up to 180 days to remember your choice. A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as declining optional analytics. Existing statistics are not retroactively removed by changing a browser preference.

Retention and accuracy

Detailed records in this website’s database are retained on a rolling 90-day basis with periodic deletion. Country is approximate; VPNs and privacy tools can change it. Browser IDs are not a count of individual people. Some bots execute JavaScript and some people block it, so bot classifications remain estimates. Time in focus is not listening time: embedded Spreaker players do not currently send playback details to this dashboard.

Access and contact

Only the website-owner ChatGPT account can open the analytics dashboard. Spreaker players, YouTube and other external services process data under their own policies. For privacy questions or requests, contact Jason.
