Podcast Description

Internet | Monday's Boring Objects | #1703 Let Me Bore You To Sleep | 2nd November 2026

In this episode of Let Me Bore You To Sleep, I take you on a wonderfully boring journey through my personal history of the internet, from the painfully slow dial-up connections of the late 1990s to the modern frustrations of unreliable broadband.

It all begins with my internet hub breaking down, a rather entertaining conversation with customer services, and my decision to cancel my broadband altogether. This leads me to reminisce about the early days of the internet, when pictures took forever to load, Yahoo was everywhere, mobile phones had proper buttons, and downloading a short video felt like a major achievement.

Along the way, I remember my first computers, BlackBerry phones, internet dongles, early YouTube, building websites, and the various broadband providers I've used over the years.

As usual, I wander off into completely unrelated subjects, including Vinnie, adaptations to help with my back, my latest experiments with artificial intelligence, old podcast transcripts, boxing, pirate radio, and whatever else happens to pop into my head.

There's no particular destination, no important lesson, and certainly no need to remember anything. Just plenty of gentle rambling, personal memories, little jokes, and everyday observations to help you relax, switch off, and perhaps drift off to sleep.

Only listen when you can safely close your eyes.

Remember to be kind to yourself, because you deserve to be happy. Be gentle with yourself, because you deserve to feel safe.

Lots of love, Jason
