Hello, welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. I was talking to a friend and she said that maybe I could try and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep by the way, maybe I could try and do shorter videos for TikTok.

And I do do some 10 minute ones. But the idea of maybe doing an even shorter one. And I've just been playing with the idea of trying to do like a one minute relaxation.

The introduction itself takes about 10 minutes. So I don't know. I thought what I might do in this recording, just in a weird way, is try and record some one minute relaxation sessions.

Okay, I'll try not to laugh. Because it's going to be weird. I mean, I've got my phone here.

I'll set my timer. Right. One minute doesn't seem long enough, but I have this is now nearly two minutes long since I started.

So I guess one minute is a fair time. But I can only think of one thing that I could actually do in one minute. And I can't discuss it on the internet.

Right, let me have a look. The thing is, how much can I actually get done in one minute, as far as I could do a body scan. It's like, well, well, well, well, well, but that's, but at the same time, I don't talk quickly.

I suppose I could encompass larger parts of the body in one go. Like shoulders and both of your arms and hands, fingers, chest and your torso, chest, stomach and back. Your legs, feet and toes.

So I suppose I could kind of do that, which means they give me more space. Or I could just focus on one part of body. For example, your eyelids, focus just on your eyelids for a minute.

Notice how much more relaxed you become. Or I'm just trying to think is it's really weird. Because I've never set myself this challenge before.

I've never I used to do 10 minute recordings. I still do sometimes but and I have just started doing the relaxing 10 minutes that I do daily. The thing is, I've never tried to do a one minute one.

I don't think ever. No, I don't think I've ever tried. Is it even possible for someone Okay, it's possible for me to do a one minute recording, I can do that.

And I know, you know, that's something that could be done. The question for me is, will it be useful? Now, I know not everybody has the time to spend an hour with me or longer. And some people would prefer shorter recordings, which is why I also do shorter recordings.

But one minute, that's kind of like, I don't know, it's a far and a dribble, isn't it? It's like such a small amount of time. I mean, how many spoonfuls of rice pudding could you eat in a minute? You know, and enjoy it and like chew it properly. Not 100 times each.

But that reminds me of I talked about that in the past. Chew 100 times. No.

And I suppose you could do a counting down. How much could you count down in one minute? Suppose you could do counting from 60, all the way down to one, all the way down to one. But then the introduction would take up some time.

So it wouldn't be every second, would it? It'd be like 60, 59, 58, 57, 52, 43. So I guess starting off faster and then going slower. So the last 10 takes 20 seconds, maybe.

I don't know. I want to play around with the idea. But I suppose if I just put on the cover, you know, of the video, one minute relaxation, feel relaxed in one minute.

I don't know. It just I don't know, it just seems like because I don't want to do it just if it's not going to be useful. Although thinking about it, I do actually do really, really short relaxation sessions within my own brain when I need it.

Sometimes I'll just count down from 10 down to one, or just focus on a part of my body or just focus on my eyes. And it might only be for 20, 30 seconds. Or sometimes just go like that, which is weird.

Just moving your hand from the top of your head to the side of you, slowly down. And that's it. As it goes down, you become more relaxed.

Do it again for another minute. Not even for a minute, it's like, what's it take? 10 seconds. Something to do, you do this along with me if you like, if you the movement, the physical movement.

And what's weird, I can actually feel the coolness on that side of my head. As I do it. Hmm.

Okay, so we do that, then let's try that one. And I can see if I can do that with the in a minute. I'm not really going to be able to close my eyes, because I won't be able to see the clock stop.

The clock stopper, the clock stop, the timer, the timer. I mean, what introduction do I do? Hello, welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.

That's that's kind of half the 30 seconds gone, isn't it? I see how long the introduction costs costs. Right. Hello.

Welcome to Jason Newlands.com. My name is jasonnewland.com. Oh, please only listen when you can most safely close your eyes. This is one minute relaxation. Right, so that was one minute and two seconds.

I suppose I could do a bit quicker. Should we do it quicker? See if that does it. I can't, literally I just trip over my words so I'll try and talk quickly, right ok, hello welcome to jasonnewland.com my name is Jason Newland, please unlist someone you can safely close your eyes, this is one minute relaxation, so 8 seconds, now first of all we'll start to move your hand down down, then move your hand up again, then down again, then up again then down again, then up again, then down again, are you relaxed yet, so I could do it in 21 seconds, to be fair if anything I feel more energised,

I feel more full of beans now which is kind of the opposite to what, I mean it's not a bad thing but it's the opposite to what I was, I mean I was half asleep when I first started doing this, I feel like I could go for a nice long run, which is probably the biggest lie I've told in 10 years and I've told a lot of lies, the only running that happens in my life is on the toilet, so the whole, I do struggle with that,

this is for me in a weird way, in my own kind of strange idea, I've got a weird feeling in the bottom of my feet, that's weird, got like electric shock in the bottom of my foot, Finny, are you playing with the plugs again, I like to think that I'm kind of like an antidote for that super fast no pauses talking that the internet has kind of introduced, because before that people just spoke at the speed they spoke at, I mean there are parts of the country,

parts of the world where people do speak super fast, I've got a theory with parts of the world is, it might not even be right or not but it's a lot more words they've got to say to get the, because it's a different language so there's more words to say or most countries, not most countries but a lot of other countries in the world have, the populations have bigger families and if you live in a big family you've got lots of brothers and sisters, you have to speak quickly and loudly to be heard,

otherwise you just get drowned out by the other people, so maybe that's what it is, so places, parts of the country where it's more traditional, with larger families maybe, they would speak quicker and also people, if you've got two people together that speak quick and have a baby, chances are the baby's going to kind of learn to speak quickly, maybe, I used to speak quite quickly because I used to live in Newcastle when I was little and it was, just speak quicker, quicker, I'm not saying everyone in Newcastle speaks quicker but compared to where I moved to, I moved to like a sleepy, sleepy little town and everyone was like, alright lad, how are you doing?

I'm just going downtown, there's a tractor over there, what's that thing in the sky? It's a lamppost Dolly, it's a lamppost, oh a lamppost, I thought it was another moon, you know that kind of stuff, that probably didn't ever happen, so yeah, everything was a little bit slower, to move from a city, I think Newcastle's always been a city isn't it, to a little town, going downtown, alright boy, alright boy, how you doing?

Yeah, so to try and, I like to think I can be an antidote to that, almost forced upon us quick, quick, quick, quick, quick speaking, on the internet basically, and I know that when people told me sometimes like, you talk too slowly man, you talk too slowly, will you get to the point? No, I mean this is the point, that I don't get to the point, that's the point of my Let Me Boy To Sleeps, there is no point, it's just me chatting on, will you just stop waffling on and just say what you want to say?

No, waffling on is the goal, there is no, there's no outcome, it's just a goal, for me hopefully the outcome is some people listening get a chance to relax, and hopefully if they want to, drift off to sleep, through utter boredom, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, boredom, utter, wasn't there a saying called utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, you only say a word and it just doesn't sound right anymore, I'm sure I heard someone the other day say iron, talk about irons,

you know that you, I mean I don't use them but you can flatten clothes with them, and they said it's called iron, iron, I need to pack my iron, I just need to go and get my iron, and I thought to myself, you know what I mean, are there places where iron is actually called iron, I know it's spelt with an I-R-O-N, but the R is silent, never quite understood why to be honest with you, iron, what's the other word that people, tortoise, tortoise, tortoise, tortoise,

I guess it's just no different really from scones and scones, who cares, really, but when I hear tortoise, I just think, what's wrong, why, why, what, why, it's tortoise, I like tortoises, maybe because I'm a country boy, we call them tortoises, but perhaps posh people call them tortoises, because I'm not posh, believe it or not, it may come across that I'm well to be, well to do, almost royalty I guess, but I'm not, I'm not really, hard to believe, but I'm just a lowly subject, I'm just a commoner, common, common,

common, common, I quite like to be royalty, not for any of the reasons, thanks Vinnie, not for, I just like to have the money, that'd be cool, the status would be good, but I quite like the anonymity, so that people knew I existed, but they didn't know who I was, apart from the only people that knew who I was, was people that I wanted to know who I was, so if I went on a cruise, you know, ship, or I went somewhere, the only people that would know who I was,

and how rich and everything, was someone that I wanted to come talk to me, I know it doesn't work that way, I think that's something that I've seen with my own eyes, that can annoy famous people, because I've seen famous people, comedians, but I've seen other people as well, and they do want people coming up to them, and recognising them, some of them, but some of them are quite picky, and fussy about who they have give them attention, now they might be okay for that person to come over and have a little flirt,

but maybe not that bloke over there, who's eaten pickle, do people eat pickles, they're just a pickle, I mean I've had pickle in sandwiches, I tell you that dog is annoying the hell out of me recently, whenever I do a recording, he just hassles me, he's doing it again now, he won't leave me alone, yet when I'm not doing a recording, it doesn't bother me, if I'm at the desk doing something else, it doesn't bother me, it's only when I start doing a recording, that he hassles me, he's literally staring at me right now,

and it's annoying, because he won't just stare and just sit there, he will start making noise, the other day he started barking at me, how dare he, barking at me, out of order, alright he's gone back, if I manage to just ignore him long enough, sometimes he just goes back and goes back to sleep, but I can see with my peripheral, that he's still staring at me, but he's moved back further away, but he's, he's still staring, now I'm laughing, he's right at my side, he's licking my arm now,

what is it Vin, Vin, now yesterday, or was it the day before, I did actually pick him up, and I put him on my lap, because I thought it would be nice for everyone to see him, he kicked everything off the desk, honestly, he went nutty, and so I had to put him down, and I had to put everything back together again, took ages to edit out, out the incident, the atrocious incident, what is it Vin, you want a bit of cheese, you want a bit of cheese,

he wants a bit of cheese, if I get a bit of cheese for you, will you like, you know, shhh, will you go shh shh, will you be shh shh for a while, okay, and relax, that could be a recording I did, just a one minute, just like, that could be like five seconds, relax, relax, yeah, I could do that for one minute, thinking about it, I don't know if it's something I'm going to be able to do, anyway, I just took Vinnie downstairs, did a wee wee in the garden,

I promised him, I promised him, if he did a wee wee in the garden, we can come back and he can have some cheese, I took him for a wee wee, I said, do you want some cheese, and he dragged me upstairs, literally, he pulled me along the ground, I think I might have grazed my knee, and I thought, okay, so you understand the word cheese, understands the word t-r-e-e-t, understands the word w-a-n, w-a-l-k, yet he doesn't understand the word slowly, which is something that I say to him multiple times a day when we're out,

especially when we're crossing the road, slowly, slowly, and he stops for a second, then he pulls again, stops for a second, then he pulls, I mean, I was on the main road, I was on the pavement, but I was, you know, and I was going to take him over to the pet shop, get him a little t-r-t-t-t-e-e-t-t, but I was going to take him over to the pet shop, get him a little t-r-t-t-t-t-e-e-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t- You know, if there's people, other people on the pavement, I'll walk in the road, but he walks on the pavement.

He never goes in the road, that's my rule for him. And besides, he's little, you know, a car's going to see me. I wouldn't just walk in the road, I'd check first, you know, not silly, but if the road's clear, then I'll walk to the side of the pavement until the people have gone past.

Or I'll pull him into someone's driveway or something like that until the people have gone past. He doesn't go on the road. He's never allowed on the road, and he still tries to go on the road.

That's the whole story really, there's not much left to that. I'm kind of glad in a way, because I wouldn't want anything, you know, there's no good ending to that really, is there? So yeah, luckily, I have to keep attention, give him attention the whole time I'm out, or keep him on a short lead. Because I take my eyes off of him, and he will just, because I've got a long lead, one of those controllable ones, you know.

I don't know, is it two metres? I don't know how long it is. And he will just randomly run, he'll run off if he can. So I have to keep an eye on him the whole time.

See, he's happy now. He's been out, done a wee, had some cheese, he's had some attention from me. He won't bother me anymore.

But he needed, whatever that was, he needed that attention. Maybe he needed a wee. And that's his last wee for today, because he'll be going to bed after this.

And then tomorrow morning, when I get up, I will edit this, and yeah, upload it at some point. Although to be fair, I've not really done anything, have I? Just, all it's been is an introduction. It's like a podcast about nothing, but this time it's literally about nothing.

I haven't said anything, have I? Relax, relax. Maybe, that was a good one. Yeah, I don't think one minute ones are going to be two minute ones.

But then I'm doing ten minute ones, ten minutes short, isn't it? Isn't ten minute a short amount of time? I mean, they seem really popular. Whoops. I've been uploading, I've uploaded, I've just uploaded another one.

Q&A Friday, yesterday's Q&A Friday. Uploaded it about, hello, whoops. I uploaded it, I don't know, about an hour ago? I've got 211 views already.

It might have been two hours ago, I can't, an hour and a half, something like that. One hour, yeah, about an hour ago. On TikTok, but I'm still finding my way around.

I don't know if, wasn't on the news something about getting rid of TikTok? X, I mean, sorry. So, I don't know what's going to happen there. I've just discovered X, like posting my stuff on there, that is.

And, oh well. I'm not getting huge amounts of views, but it's still an extra kind of audience. Although, you know, in the past, I used to use TikTok.

I want to say the past, not TikTok, I keep saying TikTok, Twitter. I used to use Twitter back in, just trying to think, when did I have that job? It was January 2011. So yeah, 15 years ago, blimey.

So I used to make videos. And then I would, yeah, I'd make videos. Then when I got to work, I'd go on the computer.

I'd log into my, because I wouldn't take my laptop with me. I'd just log into their computer. I'd log into my, I wouldn't log into the YouTube.

I'd just go onto my YouTube channel, get the link to share the video. Then I would post that on my Facebook page. And I'd post it on my Twitter page.

And the thing is, Facebook really, I don't get a huge amount of traction on Facebook anymore. Other than just my own personal group that I've got, which is Jason Newland's Boring Group. It's not to say people don't see my stuff, but I don't get a lot of interaction.

However, if it wasn't for Facebook, I just think it was really good. Back in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2007. During that period, Facebook was really good.

Great place to promote stuff. And that's what I was there for. So I promoted my videos for years.

And that's probably where I got my start. That's where I got most of my traffic from. And YouTube as well.

And podcasts, but that was kind of all separate. I was promoting the podcasts on Facebook. I was promoting the videos on Facebook.

And Twitter. I never had like a huge amount of followers on Twitter. No, I didn't.

On MySpace, I think I had about... I forget if it was 50 or 100,000 followers on MySpace. It might have been 70,000. It was quite a lot.

And then everyone kind of left MySpace to go to Facebook. MySpace? I'm trying to think how to explain MySpace to someone who doesn't know what MySpace is. It was the precursor.

It was actually, I want to say, just as popular because social network and social stuff wasn't a thing. MySpace kind of invented it. Facebook extended it.

Made it better. Perhaps. And give people more of a chance to connect but not having it connected by people releasing stuff.

Like MySpace was pretty much for bands to get together and for them to release their music. Which is why I went on there because I had my videos, I had my podcast episodes. And one of the good things that MySpace had it wasn't full of hatred.

I know Facebook isn't full of hatred, I shouldn't say full, but there's a lot of, all the social networking, there's a lot of people writing down horrible things. There is, we can't argue that, we know that's true. MySpace didn't seem to be like that.

And Facebook wasn't like that to start with. I'm pretty sure it wasn't. And neither was YouTube.

So I was around at the birth of all these places, all these new things. And if I hadn't been a creator, like producing stuff, I probably wouldn't have been too interested in YouTube. I probably would have had no interest in Facebook.

Or MySpace, you know, to start with. I think YouTube would have grabbed my interest as a viewer. Because I do watch YouTube videos.

At the time, I wasn't too bothered about it. If I'm honest with you. I wasn't too interested in what was going on in YouTube.

But I was interested in what I was doing on YouTube. So I started to do my stuff and I got a little bit of a following. But MySpace, I was getting like 10,000 views of my videos within like a few days.

Which is just like, and people were listening to my audios. And it was all positive feedback. Honestly, it might seem hard to believe.

The amount of people who were saying, well done. Even if, I mean a lot of it was probably terrible, what I was doing wasn't very good at all. The quality, the sound was terrible.

But people were positive. And you might argue, yeah, because they wanted you to be positive back to them. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.

Maybe. But, nevertheless, it was still nice to have someone in another country. Somewhere that I'm probably never going to visit.

Or might not ever visit. Telling me that actually what I did was good. Or what I did actually helped them.

Relaxed them. Helped to take the chronic pain. Reduce their chronic pain.

Here's some things you might not know about me actually. Even those that kind of have been following me for a while. Here's something.

In 2009, I think it was. It might have been 2010, but I think it was like 2009-ish. I got an email.

And it was someone asking me. I think they sent a message from my website. They're saying, I'm a DJ.

But I also create songs. And I make songs and stuff. Can I use your voice in one of my songs? Well, actually a couple of my songs.

I thought, what do you mean? And he said, it wasn't a big conversation, but I said, yeah, do what you want. So he based and it was like an Ibiza kind of music. Not really I'm not that into that, but it was, I don't know.

Newfangled stuff, is that what it's called? And I think it was my voice going now relax. Only listen when you can safely close your I probably haven't quite grasped the actual essence of the song, if I'm honest. But I thought that was so cool.

And he did two songs and he sent them to me just so I could listen and I thought, wow. And then again around 2009, 2010 I had this I don't know if it was a man or woman, I can't remember. But they asked me permission to use my recordings in their PhD research.

I never found out what the results was. And they might have just used me as an example of like really bad hypnosis, I don't know. But they did start open, like say we really like what you do just want to get your permission to use your recordings.

Okay. That's cool. I like that.

I'm trying to fit any other weird stuff that's happened over the years. I did have, this was there's quite a few there was this lady Angela I don't even know if she still listens to me but she was my number one fan for years. This is going back a long time.

And I think she was American or Australian and she used to listen to me everyday send me messages very regularly. And she went on holiday and she sent me holiday pictures and it was of her she was sitting on a like a I don't know, on a cruise or whatever on a chair and next to her on a chair was her mp3 player.

For those that don't know what an mp3 player is I don't know why mp3 players lost I know it's like it's now on the phones but mp3's were so good because you were not dependent upon the internet you were not dependent upon so you could have I had one which was 250 gigabytes which was a huge amount of space and the amount of music and lectures and stuff like that that I had on that mp3 player was phenomenal and I'll never get that stuff back again I found stuff I found

it online I had to research but just downloaded them and added the mp3 files and stuff onto the I think you did it by cable I think and then the smartphones came out and gradually mp3 players kind of just went away because streaming came in and first of all you could store music on the smart players and then it got to the point where you didn't need to store anything because everything is on the internet and you can just stream it it depends what kind of service you get doesn't it

I really like that though another thing that happened is I had this bloke this young lad send me a message I'm going to be very discreet the way I describe this by the way it was very heart touching and I think it was sent by MSN you know when you used to have that chat thing MSN is it a long time ago and people used to I was basically trying to use every single way of communication back then where people could communicate with me where I could kind of get my

stuff out there and he said he just wanted to thank me because his mum listened to me for right yet another interruption from his highness barking again that is the hardest part of making podcasts is him the noise he makes the barking I'm not bothered by the other stuff he does but personally the barking and I have to remember to tap on the microphone and clap my hands I can't just stop for a second because once he starts it's like one of those little dolls that you pull the string out

of and it's like just keeps going on and on or a jack in the box is it one you wind up and you don't know when it's going to pop out that's what he's like is he going to pop out? or what's the hippopotamus game where there's a game where it just pops out and you never know when it's going to happen is it a hippo? hungry hippo?

I don't know it's like a board game correctly named I always thought very boring not as boring as me though what was I going to say I was actually talking about something really serious as well so this young man sent me a message I don't know how young he was I think he said I'm 17 so he'll be like 40 now he said I just wanted to thank you because my mum listened to you constantly for the last 3 months and it really helped her to relax and helped with the pain and I was like wow that's just that's powerful powerful stuff I don't get many messages like that but I do,

I have had lots there was a time when I kept I actually kind of consolidated or got all together organised probably is a better word all of my testimonials or comments or reviews all in one place and I had I had a lot and these weren't ones that I asked for people just sent them randomly over quite a few years and I had these probably thinking about it probably about 10, 12 years ago and I had it all in a file in an actual document,

word document lost it and I've lost the YouTube channel that I was with when I had those because a lot of them were from YouTube in fact most of them were in fact all of them probably it's weird I've had people that have told me that I've influenced them to get involved in hypnosis and to get trained and been influenced by what I do to want to kind of do this I never thought I'd influence anyone to do anything positive so that's nice just kind of trying to look back on

the last 20 years some of the high points I'm trying to think I suppose one of the higher points was 2011 I decided to make a recording and to try and get it to go viral viral for me to become popular you know just to be good, to get a lot of views I realise everyone knows what viral means but I don't mean millions of views I mean just good for me so I did this recording try and stay awake sleep hypnosis try and stay awake try and stay awake I

think it was and it had some background music and I recorded it at the same time as the background music had it on a video recorder it wasn't great quality but the music seemed to drown out the sound of the not the vacuum cleaner the video recorder had a buzz to it I don't know why I don't know what that's about so I got it home, edited it put a nice introduction to it and all that stuff I post it on my I post it on YouTube on my YouTube channel that I had which was doing ok,

it was plodding along had it since 2007 so this was 2011 so what's that, 4 years so I thought ok so before I was getting like hundreds of views per video, now I thought I want to try and get more I posted this video on every single group on Facebook that was to do with sleep insomnia, stress anxiety, chronic pain every chronic pain condition every group there was that I could find probably 50 groups and I posted the video and I got some people that started shouting at me over online

stop with your was it snake oil salesman just you know kind of that kind of stuff even though it was free and I went to bed and I woke up and I had had thousands upon thousands upon thousands of views of that video and within wasn't a long time I got up to 100,000 views just on that one video and it's like wow so for me to go from I don't know 150 to 200 sometimes 300 views on a video to 100,000 views on a video is that that is kind

of pretty I felt nice I guess and then every video I did after that it didn't do as well as that one but they were increasing so I got to the point where I was getting a couple of thousand views for the video but then I wasn't releasing so many because I was busy and then I was kind of went through some stuff but for me that went viral in my own mind and for me,

not for the world but for me that was my first and only viral video because I'd never had that many views I probably hadn't had 100,000 yeah I probably hadn't had 100,000 throughout the whole time I'd be on YouTube up to that point for the last four years of all the videos and I'd had hundreds of videos on there yeah I did upload it to this YouTube channel and I think I ended up with about 30,000 views on there over time but then I took it off then I uploaded it again and it's hidden and

no one watches it there was a time when people would look for it because I guess they liked it and once I took it off and they said where is it?

I listen to it every day I was like really? so I put it back on I like to think that the stuff I've done since then is a lot better than the stuff I used to do back then I hope so I hope it hasn't gone downhill I hope it hasn't got worse how could it get worse? I'm just trying to think of any highlights of the last 20 years, that's quite a long time isn't it?

20 years I was in the paper that was quite good 2006 I was in a newspaper about my chronic pain service that I did my free chronic pain relief service, so that was nice I was probably about 2008 I was on the radio had a radio interview about my free chronic pain relief service and there was one good thing I quite liked when I was so I was playing around with podcasts and there was one particular podcast there was lots of podcasts,

there was a period when it just kind of started it kind of came around in the 2004 time but only a few people did it then it kind of went away, then it came back kind of 2006, 2007 became more popular like 2008, 2009 loads of podcast places came online there was millions of podcasts it was really big and then it all kind of died off again then it became popular again so it's and then podcasts started being more video podcasts on YouTube which I mean technically this isn't really a podcast it is,

but I'm not, I think a lot of podcasts class themselves as if you look at them, they're usually people interviewing each other I know you don't do that but I was on this, I was using this free podcast service called literally I think it was called free podcast free podcasts, something like that and I was getting loads of downloads like every day and I was loving it loving it, loving it, loving it and this was 2007 and by the end, well by the beginning of 2008 I remember showing my college colleagues my students,

my fellow students that I had reached I think I'd reached 100,000 100,000 views or downloads in that year which was phenomenal I mean, I know I kind of reached the, this was before I did the YouTube wasn't it, yeah so or had that video on YouTube and I thought this is it, I'm going to head, I'm going to head places you know what happened next they shut down so first of all they stopped doing stats so I used to love going on there and seeing I'd had,

you know 2000 downloads for the day or whatever you know, and then there was a delay and I was like why is there a delay then they start, they're putting the stats on but they were like a week late and then they just stopped stats altogether and then one day I went on there I could see the individual downloads but not like the whole kind of lot half of my recordings were missing, I didn't have backups and then short while later the whole thing closed and I was like what?

it was such, I would have paid to use that service if they said £10 a month £20 a month, I just paid because it was so good but no and I'm, I don't know but I like the idea, imagine if I must have had like probably at least 100,000 people using I don't know I'm just guessing now even if there was only 10,000 podcasters, like worldwide you know you'd think there'd be enough money in that to keep them going but maybe it was one of these big massive startups that ran out of money and I was,

I think I went to SoundCloud after that I've tried every single podcast provider you know that I can use to put my stuff on every single one pretty much they've all got good and bad some of them are very limited to how much you can upload, which is no good to me because I upload a lot some charge more if you upload more than a certain amount some charge more if you get too many downloads which is no good for me because I get quite a few downloads statistically I think

I'm in the top percent I'm in the top 10 percent of podcasters in the world but the difference between 10 and 9 is massive it's like you've got Joe Rogan at the top with millions of downloads probably a day so you know there's a there's a big drop down to like I worked it out on a website and it said based on what I did I was probably in the top 10,

possibly 5 percent but then there's millions of people that have started podcasts and don't continue it they do a couple of episodes and they're just like oh why haven't I got thousands of followers and thousands of people listening and they quit I was stuck at it for 20 years so ok this is a proper time for this there's a hero if you look inside your pants that's my catchphrase I just trying to think of some other things that happened over the last 20 years that was a good one it wasn't good that they shut down but seeing that amount of downloads in that year and then I think the biggest thing is a few years ago I did have,

I did have one month, this was during the old mask-y season I did have one month where I had just under a million downloads in one month it's the only time ever but it was like huge amount because people weren't out, they weren't allowed to go out so I guess maybe people listened to me so they could appreciate going out more when they did and eventually could I don't know but what happened after that here's what happened things were going so good and then my podcast provider decided that I could

not have music that kind of went on and on and on so in the old days I'd do a 10 a 10 hour recording but the first hour would be me talking and the rest would just be music weren't allowed to do that and they started deleting my podcasts and then I thought okay I'll put background music only which is what I do now as well as the ones about music and they were okay with that and I built up again and then they decided I couldn't have that background music

anymore it had to be their own music but they didn't provide music and they started deleting my stuff because what's it called not Apple Podcasts the other one didn't like recordings with music podcasts with music Spotify I don't get many people on Spotify listening to me it's weird considering it's supposed to be one of the biggest ones in the world Apple Podcasts is the top place where people listen to me it's strange I'd have thought if Spotify used to be and then they just didn't like the fact maybe they blacklisted

me because of the music anyway my podcast started deleting my stuff again at this point they even started deleting some of the podcasts I didn't have enough time to get the stuff off I didn't have to start all over again but I had to take a lot of stuff off and in the process I lost a few bits I lost quite a few recordings and I just went back to just doing recordings like before and then my podcast provider I went to I changed over to SoundCloud and I was getting

about 250,000 downloads a year on half a million but I still kept the other one open and they changed their rules I could have background music as long as they used their background music if only they'd done that like five years ago things would have been a lot different because I kind of had to take a huge step back so I yeah I did that and I'm still doing that but it's taken really it's taken years to get back to where I was I'm not back to where I was but

I'm nowhere near but it's that whole kind of process and deletion there's been times I've deleted stuff but this was actually them that did it and I think Spotify just I don't know if they blacklisted me because of the music background music and stuff I think they still don't like background music yeah but it's starting to grow up again which is nice if only I could grow up myself I mean that was a memory it wasn't a nice memory was it but it was still I mean I've had getting on

to 20 million downloads since I started possibly a lot more it's hard to kind of judge it I know I've got 15 and a half million downloads on one platform I've got about 2 million on SoundCloud are the current two podcasts I've got but I've had previous podcasts on SoundCloud one had I think half a million one had 250 one had 100,000 and I've been on quite a few different things so I'm based on that over 20 million but at least 6 7, 8,

9 at least 19 million that I can actually show between SoundCloud and Spreaker it's weird I'd like to if it continued to grow the way it was growing I would be probably on a million a day maybe not a million I don't know at least a million a week not money I'm talking about million downloads so I guess it's just having to learn from it but then every time I try and change what I've already got set up people say no we like this so I try to go back to just doing one recording one recording no background sound no 5 hours,

no 10 hours and that was not popular try to take away the 5 hours no we like the 5 hours try to take away the 10 hours try to take away the ones the longer ones without music we like the ones without music we like the ones with music it's just I couldn't everyone's got their own preference haven't they which I respect but I prefer I like listening to music but I prefer to have no music when I'm listening to a voice yes if I'm listening to a lecture or if

I'm listening to an audio book or listening to a talk by whoever I don't want music in the background I can't listen to my podcast with music but without music yeah baby but on the flip side I love listening to classical music on it's own I'm a big I'm not a classical music buff because I couldn't tell you I couldn't tell you the name of probably one piece of music I could recognise the music as in I've heard that before but I couldn't tell you any names of classical music but

I listened to Batch I listened to Beats Hoven there's so many Bussy Bossy Chico Sky there's so many Armageddon Armageddon he's good there's loads of but I couldn't tell you again that probably wasn't a good example although I can see how do you know the really famous musicals of yeah like Phantom of the Opera as an example I'm not saying specifically Phantom of the Opera but I can when I listen to those type of musicals I can see how the musician the writer of the music whatever you want to call

him has been influenced by all the great music that's come before and also I just find it amazing how some of the music in movies is amazing it's I would say equal to the stuff that's been done before and they're not going to get the same recognition but the type yeah there's music I was going to say Titanic but some movie music is so good and it's classical you know the classical music I'm talking about but it's not a lot of it it's not like traditional I don't know I just

like classical music I don't like classical singing you know the high pitched screaming I just moved my foot and Vinnie just growled at me I didn't realise he was literally practically laying on my leg sorry darling you you you're not angry though because your tail is waggly you're not angry with me I know you're not bear not be that was a weird sound did you just do burpees did you just do a burp I don't know what he thinks he's going to get I got nothing in for him literally nothing

and he did eat his food which is good it's a good sign because I've got no T-R-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-T-S I've run out of dog food as well actually I've got one packet left but I've got a delivery coming tomorrow I'm just trying to think what other memories I've got from 20 years there's not many is there I mean I've got memories but I mean it's concerning this you know these videos and this stuff that I do oh there's one I was in a room in a room when I was at college doing my degree I heard someone online saying you can't,

you don't get a degree at college me not towards me but it's like actually you can if you're on a course that's accredited by a university not all university degrees are done in the actual university grounds so there I got a university degree with Essex University and in counselling studies I also got a person centred counselling diploma after the second year and the third year was a diploma so yes so there and I didn't go, I didn't have to go into the university,

no because they didn't teach it there it was accredited so you can you can learn something I'm just going over and over the same thing now aren't I but some people I've been on TikTok and there's a couple of people on there a couple, not people but a couple of like pages where there's a lot of people arguing literally, seemingly for the sake of arguing and I I don't really understand it, I find it fascinating to listen to it, it's a bit like I suppose like being in a zoo,

you know watching the animals in a zoo and watching how they behave and that kind of stuff or watching documentary on TV and watching Big Brother you know, it's that kind of stuff it's just a little bit like that for me, I was like observing it and thinking okay, at the same time thinking okay they've got a good point but why are you being so angry why are you so angry come on baby come down come on let me stroke your head let me pat you on the head I mean it's like he's 85 years old and he's angry at the world like come on,

you haven't got time to be angry at the world there's no time for that anymore, come on chill out baby you've just got to relax I mean, I think I don't, it's not really much point getting all angry these days but I've realised as I got older it doesn't help, it's not useful it's like okay if you before you left your house every day you dipped your feet into grease like liquid grease right and maybe you poured the rest of the grease on top of your head and perhaps painted got

one of your members of your family to paint a big red willy on the back of your coat and you just left to go to work or just go to school or college or university or just to the shops whatever how long before you started to realise that that might not be useful just a question, how long before you realised that it's not helping you maybe it's fun for the other people that are doing the painting on your back but you know,

it's like is there really any point in this it's a little bit like getting you know someone we've all done this I'd say, I've done it I've seen loads of people do it you open a door for someone or you hold the door open as you've gone into let's say a shop or petrol station or something like that and they just walk in and completely don't say nothing and you either internally or externally say, that's ok you know who's that helping and then you might go home and still be thinking about it and you're telling someone,

I can't believe I left the door open for someone and they didn't even say thank you they didn't get down on their knees and start kissing my feet they didn't give me a hug, they didn't give me any money they didn't put me in their will they didn't give me their house nothing at least they'd go and buy me some jewellery nothing and then you realise well you might not realise but then you do occasionally maybe realise that maybe they're not thinking about you it just got on with their life

they might not have even noticed that you were there because they were too busy thinking about themselves like most people are or maybe they constantly open the door for people and they don't expect a thank you and because of that maybe they don't even hear when people do say thank you because they're not listening for it so what they've got is people yeah so they're opening doors for other people there are people saying thank you to them and he's ignoring it because he's not really taking any notice because he's not noticed it so the person says thank you,

I said thank you so that person's then gone home angry because someone's opened the door for them and they said thank you to them but they didn't acknowledge they'd said thank you to them so that person that opened the door originally walked in the door and didn't say thank you and then held the door open for someone else and didn't respond to being told thank you is sitting at home watching TV completely relaxed not worried about stuff because it's just things like that don't really affect them doesn't bother them,

don't think about it and you've got two other people one who held the door open for him or her, or one who walked through the door and said thank you both sit at home angry he should have said thank you he should have at least nodded to me when I said thank you, I don't expect much, I mean he could have sent me on holiday on a cruise or something, not much just you know just a day out at the beach something,

an ice cream but yeah I don't know what my point was on that one what's the use in worrying it never was worthwhile so it's true though isn't it easier said than done I know but it's still true yeah yeah yeah so I'm going to go I've just gone off subject, there was no subject but whatever it was or whatever it wasn't I'm not on it so there so I'm going to go, thank you for listening and for watching please remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy and be gentle with yourself you deserve to feel safe also remember that you're already enough and you're going to be okay lots of love, bye
