Hello, and welcome to jasonnewland.com, com, com, com. My name is Jason Newland, please only listen when you can safely close your eyes, and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep, it sounds like I'm going to fall asleep myself, blimey. And it's Q&A Friday.
So welcome, thank you to Cara for your very kind Christmas Paypal gift, thank you very much. I don't think there's anything else really going on. What's going on? I'm a little late making this recording, but, however, I did, I've done quite well this week I think, I've been quite steady with my recordings.
So, since last week, let's have a look, okay, so, the 15th, which was Monday, Monday, 15th, yeah, so, oh I did Sunday as well, so, and I did Saturday, that's weird, so the 14th, 14th, it was the 15th Monday, it was, yeah.
So I did, I did a recording on the Sunday, the cello and body scan, then I did a hypnosis recording, relaxing your back, on Monday, the 15th, I did Monday's boring objects, ticketing, so that was number 1512, and then on Tuesday, I did a sleep hypnosis recording, calming mind, and I did trivia Tuesday, which was UK laws, that lasted two hours and ten minutes, blimey, and that was number 1513, and then Wednesday, Whisper Wednesday, Thursday, I did another sleep hypnosis recording, and then Friday, I did, no, Thursday, is that, Wednesday,
sorry, no, wait a minute, oh, Thursday, oh, got you, got you, got you, got you, so Thursday, I did a, yeah, I did that, and then I did the Thursday throwbacks, which was TV shows 1987, and then Friday, it's officially Saturday now, but let's pretend it's Friday, because, you know, Q&A Friday and all that, but Friday, I did another sleep hypnosis session called feeling more tired, so ultimately, I did, I've done quite a few recordings this week, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, so this will be the tenth recording for the week, which is a nice amount, isn't it?
I'm waiting for, why am I waiting for an answer? I'm not going to get an answer, am I? But yeah, it's, I do feel better when I've done something, when I've, I don't know if it's accomplishment, but it just, it probably feels like that, it's just, I like to have done something, I like to get to the end of the day, or to the end of the week, having recorded, at least one recording, if at all possible, and I saw yesterday on Netflix, it was an article, that Netflix is looking to start doing podcasts.
The thing is, podcasts has changed its meaning, it's broadened, as it used to just be audio, podcasts were audio, and ever since YouTube gave, or you know, kind of adopted it, and paid some very famous people huge amounts of money, like Rogan, to come on as a video, rather than just audio, not Seth Rogan, Joe Rogan, and some people think of podcasts as being videos, which they can be as well, but the majority of podcasts are still audio, there's millions out there, there's not millions of video podcasts.
Now I don't know that for sure, but I'm pretty certain, and there's a lot of, I've noticed quite a few podcasts, video podcasts, do have a tendency to follow the same format, especially, so there's one called Diary of a CEO, and there's so many, I don't want to use the word copycats, but they're copying the format, even the speech at the beginning is very similar, and that ranges between people that have maybe millions of subscribers, to someone that might only have like a few hundred, but it's still, you know,
two microphones, one table, perhaps multiple, orgasms, wow, multiple cameras, showing the side of their face, and the front of their face, I don't really know what that's about, it's, I mean I guess it's something that they know works, that's why they do it, but I never really saw the point of just having lots of different viewpoints, I might be wrong, but then I don't really do the videos, do I, I'm more into the audio, and I just thought how cool would that be if they did adopt audio on Netflix, because,
I don't know, I know I'm biased, but I think I've got something quite good here, as far as, if we just stick to the sleep podcasts, you know, forgetting anything else that I do sometimes, even though I'm still passionate about chronic pain relief, but the, you know, I think the sleep recordings would be just as useful for people with chronic pain as the chronic pain recordings I do.
It's a bit cold in here, I've got the window wide open, and it is quarter to seven, but, I've only got two questions for Q&A Friday, so, I will, this is probably going to be a longer introduction than normal, and they're normally pretty long, aren't they, but, I was up all night watching a boxing, and it's really affected me today, I do, I kind of feel like I've got a hangover, and I don't drink alcohol, I haven't done for nearly ten years, so, it's real kind of like, oh, you know,
I just feel, yeah, I feel really, I can't do it anymore, I can't, I mean, what happened is, I, I thought, I wanted to watch it, it was on Netflix, I wanted to watch the Joshua, Jake Paul fight, I also wanted to watch the fights leading up to it, because there was at least two that I wanted to watch, and, Dubois was on there, so I wanted to watch her, but, I didn't get to see her, so, she wasn't even on the main bill, and she's a world champion, so,
I don't know what on earth they were putting her on so low down on the bill, anyway, I, I'm going off on a tangent here, which is unusual for me, as you know, but, I don't, I'm not enjoying the changes in women's boxing, now, there's this thing, it's kind of an argument within boxing, and females, some women want to do it, some women don't want to do it, but changing the lengths of the rounds, because at the moment, women's boxing's being a standard two minute round, ten rounds, that's like a,
a world championship fight, ten rounds instead of twelve for the men, and two minute rounds instead of three minutes for the men, now, initially, going back years and years, first of all, I didn't want to watch female boxing, it just didn't interest me, and also, I didn't understand why, if you want to be equal to men, just, why don't you have three minute rounds, and all that stuff, I kind of didn't really know where, where they were going with it all, and then I started watching women's boxing, because they,
it became more, well, it was just more on, more on, it was on more, it was on the bills, that I was watching, the, the fight cards, they'd have female boxers, and that's when I realised, and this is quite a few years ago, that women boxers are phenomenal, like, even the, I don't know how to explain it, they go to fight, I don't think I've ever seen one female boxer come into the ring to lose, because in, in men's boxing, you've got a lot of journeymen that come in,
and they're there to lose, they're there to just, you know, maybe stop themselves from getting knocked out, but that's it, I've not seen that in female boxing, it's almost like, I don't know if women have that ability, once they get there, they just, I don't know, it's different, and it's exciting, and they put everything into it, and I was surprised, because you don't see that in men's boxing, not, not all the time, I mean, there's some that really do, and some boxers that aren't particularly good, that put everything into it,
and then there's some boxers that are just special, they're like, well they're the world champions, aren't they, they're like the ones that are at the top, that might, but even some of them, even some of the world champions don't put everything into it, they're quite happy just to box at a distance, which is how they keep their world championship, because they don't get hit, which is the point of boxing, hit, don't get hit, but someone like Devon Haney is an example of, some would argue, boring, because he is so skillful,
but at the same time, he doesn't, it's not exciting to watch, and the women's boxing is exciting to watch, the only reason it's not exciting to watch, really, is because I don't know who they are, or at least I didn't when it first started, because that's another thing, sometimes I think boxing can be super exciting, regardless of what level it's at, whether it's British title, whether it's world title, whether it's just Commonwealth, if it's a boxer that I'm really a fan of, and I really like them,
then I'll get just as excited watching that as I would do a world title fight, but it could be a world title fight with someone that I don't even know, and I don't know either of the fighters, and I'm not excited about watching it, it might grab my attention, because it's such a good fight, but it's, yeah, anyway, with the female boxing, what they're looking to do, is some boxers want to change it to 3 minute rounds, 12 rounds in a fight, and someone like Clarissa Shields, who is the GOAT of boxing,
they call her, no, the GOAT, greatest woman of all time, not GOAT, GOAT is a GOAT, I didn't know what that meant for about 15 years, why do you keep calling him a GOAT, I mean, he's a heavyweight champion, you're calling him a GOAT, he might punch you, stop calling him a GOAT, I didn't realise it was a compliment, and Muhammad Ali was the GOAT, but he didn't have horns, so she and a couple of other people said, we want it to be extended 3 minute rounds, 12 rounds a fight,
but then other people like Katie Taylor said, no, we want to keep it at 2 minute rounds, 10 rounds a fight, and they've all got their reasons, and apparently, Clarissa Shields, and some of the ones that want it to be extended, they want to have more time to show their skills off, and they can take their time with the fight, rather than rushing, but it's the rushing that makes it interesting, you know, it's, I watched a fight last night, and I didn't find it interesting, it didn't, you know, the woman,
Bumhiser her name is, great boxer, one of the best in the world, means she's a world champion, but she's one of the top female boxers, I would say one of the top boxers in the world, forget female, male, you know, if everything was even, she would beat a lot of the other men, you know, if physical stuff was the same, in boxing skills I mean, as would Clarissa Shields, and as would Katie Taylor, I don't think there's many men that would beat any of those, if the physicality was the same,
because Clarissa Shields is the heavyweight champion of the world for females, but she doesn't weigh 19 stone, or 20 stone, you know, she would literally not stand any chance at all against Tyson Fury, or any of the heavyweight champions, just through physicality, but skill, I mean Katie Taylor is equally as skilled as Joshua, I don't know what, she's super middleweight isn't she, so she's equally as skilled as Canelo, I'm not sure about Crawford because he seems to be on a level that's above everyone at the moment, but she's on that level,
she's still that kind of phenomenal fighter, boxer, so you know, if they were able to kind of just take away the strength from the men, or give that extra strength to the women, then they would win, I think the whole boxing world would be dominated by women, instead of just the whole world, so I personally prefer two minute rounds, because after watching the three minute round, 12 rounds, I found it went on too long, because they were taking their time, there was no urgency,
instead of the two minute rounds where they were going at each other from the start, and that was exciting, if anything, I would reduce the rounds in the men's, 10 rounds, two minute rounds for the men, I would do it the opposite way, so these boxers that just go in there and want to just tap, tap, tap, dodge, tap, tap, tap, dodge, they're probably going to have to do a bit more than that, and give them smaller rings, well I just got interrupted by, oh my goodness, so Vinnie was barking,
which I think has caused the neighbours to turn their music up, probably to block out his barking, there's a domino effect isn't there in life, and now he has caused me to have to listen to bass music, which is really, really just shaking through the building, it doesn't happen very often, so I'm not moaning, I am moaning, but I'm not emotionally connected to it, I'm a little bit emotional, I'm not, they're the best neighbours I think I've ever had actually, but I do try and keep Vinnie quiet, because I've heard what he's like,
because I've been down there, when he's been up here, and you can hear him, he's loud, when he's screaming, and you might be able to hear the music from the background, you probably won't be too loud, because the microphone is not great at picking, oh god that is loud, well if you can hear it, what I'll do, right, I'll listen back, and if you can hear it, if I can hear it quite clearly, then there'll just be one version of the recording which will be, like last week, the volume was too low,
and this will just be one recording because of background sound, which is fine, it doesn't happen very often, the thing is how it works for me is, if I am waiting for a quiet period to make a recording, I'm literally, it's causing me stress, thinking or hope, especially if I'm doing a recording like, I hope no one makes any noise, I hope there's no one screaming in the garden, no one slamming a door, Vinnie not barking, it's not very relaxing for me, bearing in mind, I'm trying to do relaxation sessions,
so, I need to just chill out really, plus, the quality, the background sound, the sound quality, it's so much better than it used to be, it used to be like, hello, welcome to Jason Bluhland.com, it wasn't quite that bad, but it wasn't good quality sound, the quality of the recording itself was probably better, I probably did better quality recordings as far as the content, but now, the content's worse, but the quality of the sound's better, it's a balancing act, isn't it?
So, I was talking about women's boxing, well, boxing really, it's one of those things, I reckon, I've got a prediction about women's boxing, one, I'll tell you this, and I know this, I just know in my bones for a fact, what's her name, right, what's her name, what's her name, is that her? No, that's not her, I think I've got the wrong person, Chantel Cameron, oh, no, it's not her that I'm thinking of, no, she, I think she's retired now, is she retired?
No, she had a fight on the 11th of July, oh, she lost to Katie Taylor, Chantel, yeah, she only lost one fight, blimey, she's great, but that's not who I was thinking of, that was Luke's favourite fighter, Chantel Cameron, Cameron, his favourite female boxer, who was his favourite male boxer, probably Joshua, he used to talk about boxers from the past, that I also remembered, Hagler, that was Luke's all-time favourite boxer, like ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, Hagler was the king, because we were at an age, although he was five years younger than me,
we didn't have Muhammad Ali, he definitely didn't, but I was nine years old, eight years old when Muhammad Ali fought Larry Holmes, so I didn't really 100% understood what I was, I say that, maybe I was a bit more brighter than I give myself credit for, but I knew Muhammad Ali was a superstar, because I'd probably been hearing his name all my life up to that point, like on the news, because he was a superstar, wasn't he, like not just boxing, but worldwide famous, but I never got to see him in his prime,
because I was not born, or actually I was born, wasn't I, like yeah, I might have done, I mean there's a chance I might have seen him, it's very unlikely that I saw him in his early 70s, to be honest, although I'd say he was in his prime in the 60s, before they took his boxing licence away for four years, he was on a different level, but then, yeah, I mean he was just young, apparently, I don't know if it's true, Muhammad Ali, he won the Olympic gold,
I don't know where it was, was it in Korea, or somewhere, in 1964, so he won the gold, and it was light heavyweight, it didn't win the heavyweight, and back then, there was no super heavyweight back then, so light heavyweight and heavyweight, now in the Olympics, heavyweight, light heavyweight would, no, no, heavyweight would be cruiserweight, super heavyweight would be heavyweight professional, see, but back in Muhammad Ali's time, the weights, the heavyweights, all of them were really big, I mean now, it seems all of the heavyweights are big,
even if they're not like super, super tall, they're all pretty heavy, well Muhammad Ali weren't little, it's just, you know, if you look at, I think Muhammad Ali would probably be around the same kind of weight as Jake Paul was last night, and before he got punched, I imagine he lost a little weight when he weighed himself, but you can't blame him, because that was, he got his jaw broke, but let's not talk about that fight, because it was just, it was interesting, because it's just one of those things,
I like to see it, you know, I didn't, the only big super hyped fight that I didn't watch was Pacquiao Mayweather, and I can't remember why I didn't watch it, there was a reason, maybe I didn't have the money to pay for it, maybe I was unwell, I can't remember the reason for it, but really the only other big fights, like super, super, super duper fights as far as non-boxing fans talking about it, you know, regular people that don't normally watch boxing,
and the only other two fights that I remember other than this one last night would be Jake Paul against Mike Tyson a couple of years back, and Mayweather against Conor McGregor, I mean that was, that was on a different level, that was one of the most hyped up fights I think I've ever seen in my life, they were talking about it, it's like, it was on the news, there was like programmes discussing, is boxing a good thing, and there was people posting on Facebook, I don't understand why men want to punch each other,
and people want to watch it, it's like, so, why would you have to put that out, so, you don't understand it, you haven't got to understand it, I don't understand why trees shed their leaves, but sometimes they keep hold of one or two, we don't, it doesn't, I think that's the thing with social media isn't it, just saying what we're thinking, and I realise I do that on this podcast, but I don't do it on social media, I don't post what I'm thinking in the moment,
because it's not necessarily going to be useful information to anybody, I don't know, I saw a comedian the other day, I don't know if it was on TV or somewhere, and he said social media has changed people, because, you know, he said, and it's true, I remember my nan had a big photo album, well she had a few, and he said that's a picture of your granddad in his uniform, there's a picture of your granddad in his boxing ring holding up trophies and stuff like that,
there's a picture of me when I was a baby in Pram, probably 7 months old or whatever, like, you know, just a baby, kind of starting to form into a human like figure, and he said it would be different now, because you've got young people now, when they become pensioners or when they get old, they'll be showing their grandkids, so you can see this picture, this is a picture of my breakfast, there's an egg and chips and beans, and here's another picture of, this is me dancing, it's a video actually,
but it's me dancing on TikTok, and here's another picture of a drink of Coke, and it's just like, it's not my joke, so I can't remember who to award it to I'm afraid, but it was on YouTube I think, and I did, it's like, I didn't deliver it in a way that made it worthwhile, I'll be honest, so I'm sorry, but the idea of that is quite funny, and it's also kind of true in a sense, but then it's not really because people are taking photographs of their dinners at,
you know, when they're going out on a night out or they're going for a lunch, they're also taking pictures of their loved ones at Christmas and birthdays, and also taking photographs of when they're on holiday, and pictures of their newborn babies, it's not like they're not doing any of that stuff as well, so it's just a bit different isn't it.
There seems to be a lot of like, having a go at young people, I don't understand it, really, I know I kind of just did it myself, but I was just like joking around, but it's like, these people are this, and then categorising everyone by generation X and generation, different generations, and then generation Z, I mean you actually hear English people, in England, saying generation Z, now we don't say Z, we say Zed, so even that has changed, so even speech patterns, pronunciation of words has changed,
and I think that's possibly more to do with JZ, so I think that possibly confused a lot of kids at school, growing up, being taught it's Zed, and then seeing that he, J-A-Y-Zed, but it's been pronounced JZ, and then maybe they have a day off school and they're watching Sesame Street, and they're saying Z instead of Zed, that confused me for a few years, I don't know why, why do people say Z, instead of Zed, because it is Zed, unless it used to be Z, and we changed it to Zed,
to try and be clever, to try and stand out, I don't know, I mean did we have the alphabet in the past, or is it a relatively new thing, I don't know, I don't know what I'm talking about anymore, OK, right, so what was I going to look for, female boxer, female boxer, boxer, Olympic gold, I think she got the Olympic gold, the 2020 Olympic gold in 2021, that's got to be confusing people in the future, isn't it, oh, so you won the Olympic gold mummy, or grandmother, what was the Olympics,
the 2020 Olympics, oh, so when did you, you got that photograph, so what date was that, oh, it's the 14th of August 2021, so you had to wait a year to get the medal, no, no, the competition was in 2021, but why did you say 2020 Olympics, it is, it was still the 2020 Olympics, but you said it was 2021, to be where, to be, I mean, it's kind of weird, isn't it, it's got to be strange, I mean, why not just,
do you think maybe the reason they called it 2020 is because they'd already got all the printing, all the stationery printed, all the cups, the trophies already printed out with 2020, all the promos, perhaps it would cost millions and millions and millions, all the banners, it would cost millions to change it, to change that one number, I don't know, Laura Wood, so Laura Wood is who I'm looking for, so let's have a look, Laura Wood, Laura Wood, Laura Wood, nope, it's not, it's not, so what am I talking about then,
who is it, who's the boxer, Laura's, okay, Laura Wood, okay, female boxer, Olympic gold, UK, that's what I've got to do, no, I don't want Laura Wood anymore, or Bonnie Blue, why is Bonnie Blue coming up, is she a boxer, maybe something about a box, no, no, that's not it, so, oh, David Walliams, what's this about, David Walliams, David Walliams dropped by publisher, so, whose business is that, why don't they leave, it's really weird, this country, the press here, I know probably it's the same everywhere, but the press here,
if the more famous you get, the more they wait and then they try and get you out, and they do this to so many different people, now they're focusing on David Walliams, they tried to do it with Stephen Fry about a year ago and it didn't work, they focused on something that he said that was controversial and no one cared, literally no one cared and it was just forgotten about, but David Walliams, I guess it depends who you are, because Ricky Gervais can say anything he wants and get away with it,
Jimmy Carr can say anything he wants and get away with it, there's certain celebrities, I suppose Katie Hopkins, people that are known for being controversial and they don't care, but then there's those that are like kind of family entertainment, David Walliams, he used to be on the, he used to be, what was it, not the X Factor, the other one, Britain's Got Talent, so he was on the panel there as a judge for quite a few years I think, and they recorded him, because he had the microphone on,
someone recorded him saying something rude about some of the acts, which I will argue is a very natural human thing to do, but first of all they're there as a judge, they didn't say, they weren't saying it on live TV, they weren't saying it to the acts themselves, they were just probably having a giggle during their break, well that was reported and posted in the newspapers and he lost his job or he quit because of it.
That's like, come on, give the man a break, do you imagine, if he'd have done that much, he's a human being, he's a human.
A similar thing happened to our Prime Minister a while back, a few years back, it was the Scottish bloke, I forget his name now, he took over from Tony Blair when Tony Blair left, and it was the election coming up, and he came out, so he was a Prime Minister, he inherited the job, and I don't know if he called for an erection or it just was time, but he went out and he was talking to some old elderly lady who was just really in his ear, and then he says goodbye, gets into his car and he says, oh what a silly old racist old bag, something like that, pretty much those words.
Probably nothing called a racist or whatever, but it was recorded so they left his microphone on so that the press could hear it, or they forgot to turn it off rather probably.
And this was leading up to the election, guess what, he didn't win the election, this was probably 2010, because it was the, yeah 2010, that's when David Cameron became Prime Minister, but let's not get involved, let's not hark on that one. So yeah, David Walliams, I want to know who the boxer is, best female boxers now, she's going to come up in the top list, 2025, right, Chantel Cameron, isn't that who I already said?
No? So Clarissa Shields, the thing is it's really between three, it's like it's the top, Clarissa Shields, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, and they've all got a reason to kind of say that they're the top. Clarissa Shields has got a way, she can say she's the top because she's never been beaten in the boxing ring, she's also a two time Olympic gold medalist, not one but two, isn't that phenomenal, she's not even 30 years old, and she's won the Olympic gold twice, and she's won multiple world titles, and currently the heavyweight female world title holder unbeaten.
Katie Taylor, another legend, absolute legend, she's done so much for the sport, it's phenomenal, and then Amanda Serrano has had more world titles than anyone, ever. We've got Chantel Cameron, is that who I already looked at earlier though, the one, Chantel Cameron, Natasha Chodas, why is it so difficult to find someone? That's why, it might be going off subject a little bit, but there was a film that came out and it was a Marvel film called Mrs.
Spider-Man or Mrs. Marvel or Mrs., it was about Mrs. Webb or something like that, it was about, it was a Spider-Man like spin-off kind of Spider-Man movie, but with a bunch of female Spider-Man versions. Now I follow the superheroes, I really follow them and I wait for them to come out and I see the build up to them and the, you know, the trailers and all that stuff, sometimes for a year or so before they even get released.
And Madam Webb, I think it was called, and this movie came out, I did not even know it was a superhero movie, never heard of it, I didn't know, even the trailer, it didn't even let you know that it was about spider powers and stuff. And it wasn't a bad movie. And it didn't do very well at the box office, but they didn't put any effort into promoting it.
Like when a new Spider-Man movie comes out, they promote it like, every single Spider-Man movie that's ever been released, you know, in the last 25 years or whatever, has been hugely promoted. But this Spider-Woman movie wasn't. And I couldn't understand it, like why are you not promoting it? It's, maybe they just thought it wasn't very good, it wasn't worth promoting.
The thing is, the promotion starts with Spider-Man or with the new Superman movie, or it starts before production even begins. I mean, with the Superman movie, they were talking about, like, who's going to be the new Superman? Who's going to be, you know, all that stuff, like, and that went on for years. I mean, there was literally, like, it went on for ages and ages and ages, promoting and building it up until they were like, oh, now we've got a glimpse of the new Superman.
And here he is in a Superman uniform. And there was clips of the movie being made and photo, you know, clips of the other actors that were in the movie, the other superheroes. And then eventually it was released, they were showing, or it was about to be released, they were showing clips of it.
And then, you know, all that stuff. Madam Web, nothing. It was almost like, I'll just put it out, someone might watch it.
You never know. Let's just cut our losses and focus on Superman. Even though Superman's a different franchise, but I don't know, just found it weird.
So, Christina Hammer, ooh, right, Christina Hammer, I think she might be related to Christian Hammer. He's a heavyweight. Marlene, Helen Gabriels, Alicia Bummer, Bumgarden, sorry, she fought last night.
I'll tell you what, she had a fight and it was a world title fight. This is Alicia, Bumgarden. She had a fight and she literally knocked out the British world champion.
She knocked her out on her feet. I've never, I've seen it since, but it was the first time I'd ever seen that. And she was literally just standing there.
She was unconscious, but on her feet. Hands down, eyes closed, completely gone. And the referee, how she was still standing up, I've got no idea.
I mean, she was in the middle of the ring. She wasn't standing against the ropes or anything. And she was unconscious.
And the referee stopped it. Now, you've got to give respect to Alicia, because she could have gone in there, because the whole thing is you have to defend yourself. So she could have gone in there and that could have been, you know, she could have punched her a few more times, which would not have been good.
Chantelle Cameron, she's one of the best British fighters. She did beat Katie Taylor and then Katie Taylor beat her. Hannah Rankin.
Savannah Marshall. She's one of my favorites, because she's a good puncher, like a knockout puncher. Natasha Jonas is one of my favorites, but I think she's now, I think she quit, not quit, but she like retired.
But she was also an Olympian and she won a world title. Why can't I find the one I want to find? Because she's going to be the best of all of them. And I can't find her.
Does she exist? Okay, here's another way of doing it. This is getting silly. Okay.
2020 Female Olympian Champions. Champions. Boxing.
If this doesn't bring it up, then nothing will, will it? No. Kelly Harrington. Maybe I'm getting it wrong.
Maybe, maybe it was. Maybe it's 2024. 2024.
Do you ever see videos and they talk about blips? And like, you know, people remember, for example, some people say that they remember, not Gaddafi, Mandela, they remember Mandela passing away while he was in prison. You know, like 20 years, 30 years ago. And like this, apparently there's thousands and thousands of people remember that, but it clearly didn't happen.
Right, to be fair, 2024 focused on. Okay, if I just go Female Olympian Championship Boxing, UK. Right, let's go through it.
This shouldn't take so long, should it? Lauren Price. Lauren Price. Didn't I say Lauren Price? Lauren Price.
Why did I, why was there not coming up? She is. I would argue. Potentially the best female boxer in the world.
And you might be thinking. Yeah, I'm serious. She's got something that I've never seen before.
There's something there that is just. Phenomenal. And she's also been some really good opponents.
She's only had nine fights. And. She won.
She on a seventh fight, she won the WBA, IBO and ring female welterweight titles just in a seventh fight. And. It's.
She won the God. Olympic Games. So it was 2020.
She was a middleweight. She won the Olympic Games in 2020. And I was going to say she wouldn't be down to have nine fights just since last year, which she probably so 2020.
She won Olympic gold. 2019 she won gold in the European Games. What's this? Where the Q&A Friday? When's the questions going to be soon? There will be soon.
World Championships gold. And bronze European Championships 2018, 16, 2011. Bronze.
And then the Commonwealth Games. 2014 she got bronze and 18 got gold. How old is she? She's 31.
That's one of the problems with really. Not all the time, but quite a few of the really successful accomplished Olympian amateurs. By the time, by the time, by the time they turn.
Professional. I mean, she was what 2028 when she turned professional. And although she is really good, like.
Outstanding. Possibly will be class pound for pound. There's something about us anyway.
The I don't know what the next fight is. I want to watch it. She she's someone I would get excited to watch.
But she hasn't fought since March. So maybe she's had an injury or something. But.
She's so good. So good. To watch and she's also like not just really fast skill wise, but punch wise.
If you noticed, I've not really gone into details about the Joshua fight last night. There was there's no need. This is no need.
Anyone that's interested in it will already know what happened. So opinions, they're not needed. It's it's one of those things like I should still move on.
Let's move on. I'm looking forward to. The.
What's his name? Atoma fighting in. I don't know when he's fighting. Is it January? And he's on to look forward to Atoma.
Atoma boxer. So he's fighting in. Record for the world.
But. Right, Moses next fight. Next fight.
Is it January? I hope it's January. I don't have to wait forever. Nope.
Next fight. I tell you what the Internet sometimes it like seems to be getting good and it's more up to date. At the moment, it's not saying Moses Atoma is set to face off against British heavyweight Dillian white on Saturday.
I mean, it's ridiculous that this was like months and months ago. So what's going on? Passive I put Moses maybe that all. Next fight January 24th 2020.
Google listens to Moses. Not Atoma because I probably spelt it wrong. So Moses Atoma's next fight is Jermaine Franklin January 24th next year.
And so. Just over a month. Be looking forward to that because he's not he's not been tested yet.
He has to be tested. You need someone is going to. And he might not have been tested because the people that came in couldn't test him.
It might be simple as that. He's just too good. So I'll be interested to see him fight in Jermaine Franklin because he's.
Is it really good boxer? I don't think he's ever going to be world champion though. So this is this is Jermaine. But he did take.
Dillian white and blur blur blur blur. And he Joshua the distance. I do believe.
But. That was a few years ago. He's not.
I don't think he's probably there anymore. He's not at that level that he was. So.
I say what why not because it is sick wants to fight. Deontay Wilder. That's who he wants to fight next.
Because he said he wants to be all the greats at the time. And Deontay Wilder is the only one left. Out of all the like the dominating heavyweights.
Unless he goes back and tries to fight. Klitschko. Which he won't.
So. Yeah. I don't know who else is for everyone is for Dillian white.
Did he fight Dillian white? Who's sick? He didn't did he fought but he fought Chisora. Dillian White's just is. That won't happen now.
Anyway. Unless he kind of changes his career in it, you know in a different way. Who sick didn't want to fight Moses.
He didn't want to fight Fabio. For his own personal reasons. So.
I wouldn't be surprised if he hangs his gloves up after fighting. Unless it just wants to fight the popular fighters. Vinnie's just farted and it's really.
He's done two really smelly ones. He did one earlier on the sofa with me. And it's.
It's like he's been eating raw eggs, but he hasn't. Oh my goodness. He doesn't seem to be aware that it's happening.
I mean there's been times when he's been sitting on the set here with me. And he's let one go and he's literally just run out of the room. Because it was so smelly.
But. It's fast asleep. So he doesn't know.
So I'm looking forward to that. I am looking forward to Moses. He's.
I've never. I is one of the few boxes that I've seen at his level. Because he's not.
I mean he's at a high level, but he's still a relative novice really in a sense. But. He's had 12 fights I think.
But he's so good. And so fast. And I just love to see.
I just want to. I want to see him. I don't necessarily want to see him in a 12 round fight.
But I want to see him in an actual fight. Because I've not seen him yet. He's not gone around like one.
Not gone past one or two rounds. And as he said it's not his fault. But I'd like to see that.
Like just you know. Like if Moses Atama was fighting Jake Paul last night. I think Moses would accidentally knock him out.
Just too quick. Because he can't help himself. It's just.
Because he's much quicker. He's quicker than any other heavyweight. And potentially has a harder punch than any other.
I don't know. I mean they're all hard punchers to be fair. I mean Fabio is up there.
Big Bang Zhang. Deontay Wilder. He still can punch.
You know a hole through a wall if you wanted. Anthony Joshua. Tyson Fury.
They're all massive punchers. But I think the speed. The speed that Moses has.
I don't think I've ever seen a heavyweight that fast. And to do it that effortlessly. Like it was easy.
And it doesn't even look like he's punching hard. But he clearly is because the person in front of him is falling over. There's something.
Yeah there's again. It's a bit like with Lauren. Lauren Price.
Is it Lauren Price? Lauren Price. Is. There's something special.
There's something special there. I mean my favorite boxer. In the heavyweight division.
Is Fabio Wardley. I love Fabio Wardley. And.
I visited a neighbor earlier. And he said I don't really like Fabio. And he was talking like.
He wasn't being disparaging. But I did have to say look I love Fabio. I love him.
And. He said oh yeah but he's not very good. Look at his last.
His last. Hoonie. Got outboxed for 10 rounds.
And then he just got a punch and knocked Hoonie out. And I said yeah I can't argue with that. He's not great.
He's not the best boxer in the world. But he will agree to that. But he's got something that.
None of the other heavyweights have got. And I said have you not seen any of his actual knockouts. Like proper knockouts.
Because he said the Hoonie knockout was great. Which it was. And I said to him have you not seen any of the.
Fabio knockouts. He said no. Not just.
He'd seen the last two fights. And. Both those fights went pretty much the distance.
And I said. Well. OK.
Look up. So I gave him a couple of fights to look up on YouTube. And he was astonished.
At how. What a knockout machine Fabio is. It was.
And he said oh I've changed my opinion. I said good. Let's leave it at that and never mention it again.
How dare you disparage my. Fabio. I love Fabio.
I really do. I think he's amazing. And he's also a really nice bloke.
You know when he's been interviewed. Different character in the ring though. He's funny outside of the ring.
Smiling. Joking. Inside the ring.
There's. Yeah. Or.
I mean literally. If I had to. If I had to choose any current heavyweight to back me up.
You know in a. To look after me physically. It would be Fabio. Out of anyone.
I mean that they'd all do a good job. I mean some of them look more intimidating. Like Big Bang Zhang.
Because he's. He's an absolute monster. Massive.
But then you've got also. What's his name. Dubois.
Another huge man. So Fabio isn't built like that. But he's.
He's different. He's built internally. He's different.
So. The questions. Wow.
How long have I been talking. Probably a little while. The questions.
So I'm sorry about that. But I only had two questions. I thought I'd just update you on what's going on.
Ing asks me. According to what you said. You fell in love.
Often. But when you were younger. When you were younger.
Have you fallen in love recently. And if the question is too personal. Just skip it.
Right. Next question. Maria.
No. I don't mind. There's not really that many.
Personal questions. I mean. No.
Really is the answer. I've fallen in love recently. No.
No. No. I haven't.
There was. There was someone I had a real thing for. Before I moved into this flat.
Bearing in mind. I've lived here for. Getting on to nearly 11 years now.
So I was. Besotted with her. There was something about her.
Every time I was close to. I just. She just worked in a shop.
And I used to see her. Every now and then. And just.
Had a real thing for her. And then she just farted again. And.
She had zero interest in me. And. Yeah.
So I just. It was unrequited love. And I've had a lot of that in the past.
Unrequited love. Isn't it. As they call it.
And. It's not real. It can't be.
It's not real love. Is it. I mean.
It feels real love. But it doesn't feel real. Compared to when I've been with someone.
Because I've never had. Feelings that strong. With someone that I've actually been dating.
If that makes any sense. So. I've dated a few women over the years.
And not one of them. Has been. Probably even 10 percent.
Of what that unrequited love was. That I've had for. Women that.
Didn't want to date me. Or didn't even know that I existed. So I get that.
It's like fantasy love. It's not being. Matched in reality.
If it did get matched in reality. I would. Propose to that person.
Like. Straight. You know.
Pretty quickly. If I met someone. And I had that.
I want to say. In a relationship. I'm talking about.
You know. Being with someone. For.
You know. A while. Getting to know them a bit.
Not just sort of. See them for a few days. I'm talking about having.
You know. An actual relationship. And.
If I did meet someone. And I had those feelings. Then that would be.
Probably life changing. For me anyway. I don't know what I do with it.
And I don't know what I do with those feelings. I mean. So yeah.
Yeah. No I haven't fallen in love. Not for a long time.
And. It's not that I've not felt. Attracted.
To some women. Because I have. Not very often.
But occasionally. I've seen. Ladies.
I thought. She looks nice. Got a nice smile.
Or maybe I've spoken to her. And she's got a nice voice. Friendly.
But. I don't. See myself.
As standing a chance anymore. Like when I was in my 20s. Or my 30s.
Yeah. I could. I kind of was on an equal footing.
In some ways. Maybe not physically. Maybe not attractiveness wise.
I was still young. You know. And that does count for something.
Sometimes. Being young and virile. Or whatever it was.
Whatever you call it. But now I'm not. Any of those things.
It's. Yeah. I don't know.
I wouldn't even know how to talk to someone. I think if I was at a party. And a lady came up to me.
And started chatting me up. I'm just saying. Hypothetically.
I wouldn't know. Generally. I wouldn't know.
I just don't know when it's happening. I don't. I'm not aware.
Even. Even in my 30s. My 20s.
Even so. I wouldn't know. Like.
You have to be very. Very blatant with me. For me to really.
I don't. I don't get signals. I'm not very good.
Necessarily. With. Vague signals.
Also. I noticed. When I was younger.
That. If someone was really into me. I. Generally.
Didn't seem to be into them. It's almost like. I wanted.
I wanted to be. I wanted that. Unrequired love.
Because it was the best type. And it isn't. I mean.
Feelings wise. It's. It's hard.
It's not nice. But. Powerful.
But maybe. It's just that make. Belief.
It's easier. To have a make. Belief.
Love. Than. To actually.
Do the real thing. Perhaps. I don't know.
Yeah. So yeah. I just.
I never really knew. How to. Do it.
I did. Those things. Didn't come natural.
To me. Never have. But I can.
Sometimes I can tune in. With someone. And.
It's pretty good. But it's just. The person has to be honest.
And I can be honest with them. I'm not into the whole fakery. I just can't be bothered.
I've never been very good at the fakery. And you know like. When someone has their hair done.
Oh you look. 30 years younger. I can't do all that stuff.
I can't. Like make out. Do false.
False compliments. And. And.
I've had that. Like even when I was at college. There'd be someone in it.
Did I have a new dress. And we'd all be going out. It was all.
All females actually. When we went out. And me.
And the other females be saying. Oh. Whatever name was.
Oh you've got a new dress. You look lovely. I said you look lovely.
And they look at me. So Jason doesn't she look lovely. I said I don't know.
I don't care. I don't care how she looks. And that's not meant horribly.
It's like I generally don't care. How someone looks. I'm not being friends with them because of.
What they look like. Doesn't interest me. What they're wearing.
I've got no. Maybe it's because I'm not very fashionable. But I don't care.
Unless I do. You know if I see someone with a hat. Or with a coat that I really like.
I like wow I like your coat. But I'm not paying a compliment to them. I'm paying a compliment to the coat.
It's because I like the coat. And I want one for myself possibly. I'm not saying it because.
Oh you look really good in that coat. No. I just like the coat.
I'd like the coat if someone else was wearing it as well. Preferably me. So yeah.
I've. I don't know. I guess I've just turned into a. A bachelor.
Like a. Lifelong bachelor maybe. And maybe that'll be it. It's a shame because.
I can be quite amusing. You know in relationships. So.
You're guaranteed a laugh if nothing else. I mean even if it's just when I get naked. You definitely have a laugh.
So yeah it's been a long time. And then some of the people that. I get on quite well with people.
But I'm generally not. I don't find them physically. Quite often some or sometimes.
I don't find them physically attractive. Like I'm not attracted to them physically. I mean.
I don't find them repulsive. I just. There's not.
You know it's nothing there. But I can get on with them really well. And be friends with them.
But there's no. I've got no interest in anything. Like that.
And I probably never would have had. And. Yeah.
And also I don't have that. That same level of desperation. That I used to have when I was in my late teens.
Well throughout my 20s I guess. And the desperation left pretty much. Before I got to my 30s.
And has reduced. Significantly. But that.
And also I don't have that. That issue of being on my own. I don't need to have someone with me.
You know I don't need to. I'm not saying that like aren't I good or. Aren't I bad either way just.
It's just factual. I don't have that need. And some people do have a need to be.
With someone. Oh I don't like being on my own like. Well.
I do. I actually do like being on my own. That is my favorite time.
Is when I'm on my own. It doesn't mean that I don't like people. I just.
I. If. If I met someone. And I could feel as comfortable.
With them as I do on my own. I'd propose. I've got my little.
My caveats. That's what I would propose. Is.
Because then I'd know there's something there. And I've met a few women over the years that I've. Kind of.
Gone really well with. But I've never dated any. You know perhaps someone that I just feel comfortable with.
Maybe. I don't know I probably dated a couple. I'm not saying that anyone I dated had never felt comfortable with them.
It's not true. I mean I liked them and everything but. Not in a kind of.
Staying together forever. Marriage. Because.
I didn't marry did I. So. Is. That was never.
I never had those kinds of feelings. Hmm. That's an interesting question.
So. So have I fallen in love recently? No. Nosey answer.
But. Probably the main reason for that is because I don't go out. But it's.
It's still the falling in love bit is very. From my perspective probably very simplistic and. Would you call it what's that word when it's not very deep.
Shallow. It'd be a shallow thing it'd be. Especially if I don't get to actually talk to them it's going to be based on their looks isn't it.
But then it's not always true because there's an energy isn't there. I don't know about you but if I can be near someone. And feel the energy from them.
And even if. There's something. That's kind of.
I don't know I've had that on trains and. On the tube when I was younger in London and. Maybe.
I'd be like I'd be a cramped train and. Really feel the energy from someone sometimes very positive sometimes really not. And.
It's like if you walk into a room and two people have been arguing. You can tell. Can't you.
You can tell. Especially if they stop. And you don't hear anything they've ever said.
Not ever said but. You don't hear anything that they were talking about. And they don't continue.
And you might say yeah because they're going to have a look on their face but. Even if you can't see their faces. So you walk into the room.
Let's say you climb through the window. So you know I can't. Climb through the window step in the sink.
Try to avoid the waste disposal. And you can't see their faces. But you can.
Actually the energy would probably be anger wouldn't it and probably be fright because I'd be like who's this climbing through the window. But at the same time if you walk into two people that have been smooching shall we say. There's that energy.
Or two people that really. Want to be on their own. You know together I mean.
You can kind of there's an energy there as well. That's when I stay. That's when I put super glue on my bum and I sit down.
Honestly I'd like just it's a rule. If someone wants me to leave. Unless they like specifically say in me need you to leave I will stay.
And I will not take any of the hints. Even if I had someone once they moved house. They did.
So I'm joking so. No if I went out maybe and saw people I might be someone that I like or that likes me. I don't know.
I think I'm the kind of person that. Is I kind of grow on people I think. I'm not perhaps someone that.
A woman is going to look at in the street and think. Got to have him. I don't think I'm quite that category.
I don't think I've ever really. Generally been in that category. But.
You talk to me. And you might enjoy talking to me. Like you know in the past I mean a woman might enjoy talking to me and keep come back and want to talk to me again.
And then. Build upon that. So that can and then maybe.
She realizes she's even though I'm just being friendly. She might realize that she's thinking about me when I'm not there. And you know it's like just it's just these things can just.
Build up can't they. And. So yeah I think I'm a little bit of a slow burner with stuff like that.
Maybe but I might just be making it up it it might be I don't know. Because I don't see myself the way that the mirror sees me that's true I don't all the way the camera sees me. And I'm 55.
It's like I'm never going to look 30 not without some kind of surgical processes. But. 55 I just can't believe how old I am.
And I know there's people listen to this that are older than me. And I'm not saying 55 I'm not saying that anyone older than me is old but I just for me 55 for myself feels old. Is he old I mean female right now is the oldest I've ever been.
I think fireworks are going off. Why fireworks going off. At 8 o'clock at night.
If you need to listen and he's not barking yet but he doesn't like fireworks. Yeah. Maria asks when you first took an interest in hypnotherapy was there someone in particular or a book that inspired you on your journey to becoming a hypnotherapist.
Thank you. Right Maria. I. What happened is 1997.
I had a major family trauma. I won't go into it but it's a major family. Massive thing happened in the family and it caused a big stir.
You know within my immediate family and it made me question a lot of stuff about myself about my mental health. And. Without going into big details about that this happened in 96 actually really.
So but then the it came to a head in 97 in the summer. So it was just like lingering for a year over a year 18 months really. So I started questioning myself and I was in and out of depression which I had been since I was a kid.
And then 1997 I lost my girlfriend. I lost my job. I couldn't afford to pay my rent.
I hit one of the worst. I'm not I don't know why I'm laughing. One of the worst like depressions I've had up to that point.
Things were just really it got really bad. And luckily I was able to find somewhere else to live. And kind of get my life back on track a little bit.
And. I. During that period. I then started reading.
Listening to self-help books reading self-help books but listen to audio stuff like that. And I came over some stuff called NLP which I didn't really know what it was. But it was like empowering stuff and I thought OK Tony Robbins.
And he started to like NLP because that was what he was trained in originally. Before he became a superstar himself. And.
So I got interested in that and then. In 1998. I bought two books in on hypnosis.
Now I was going into the bookshops every week in Tottenham Court Road area. Just to. Because I was buying the audio tapes and I was buying self-help books and books on creativity and things like that.
But I was attracted to the hypnosis section and I don't really know why. Because my only interest or my only knowledge of hypnosis was Paul McKenna on the Paul McKenna show in the 90s. Or late 80s 90s.
So I didn't know anything about hypnosis other than what I'd seen on TV. But I kept coming back to these two books one was a green cover one was a blue cover. And they're both basically just introduction to hypnosis.
And I think the the. The what do you call it the collar whatever was bent. The binder was bent because I was looking at them every week.
Sometimes twice a week so. I bought them I thought OK it's January I've just bought them both. They're like 999 or 699 each something like that.
And I brought them home. And my fingerprints were on them. My fingerprints were all over them anyway because I've been going looking through them.
I've probably read half the books anyway at this point. And I brought them home and I just put them on the shelf I didn't touch them. For probably a week or two.
And then I thought. Started reading. And.
To me it was magic. It's like reading magic. Like real magic.
You know. Alchemy real. Not like wizardry like you know I suppose Harry Potter I guess if you.
Harry Potter wasn't around back then. Or was Harry Potter around then. Harry Potter was the end of the 90s wasn't it.
The books anyway. Yeah so I started reading them and it was very kind of magical. And.
As I tend to do. I think I might have already had some books on NLP. And then I kind of went through a period when I was.
Buying books on NLP and hypnosis and reading everything. And then I did a course at City University. One evening a week.
And it was an NLP introduction course. Neuro linguistic programming. And they were talking about hypnosis so that was kind of okay.
This is all part of it. So that's kind of where my interest got became. I didn't want to be a hypnotist I wanted to study it.
If that makes sense I didn't envisage myself sitting. In a room with anyone. I didn't want nor being on stage doing like stage hypnosis.
Nor even this what I do now. Right now but I didn't. I mean this wasn't a thing.
Podcasts were not a thing in 1998 so it wasn't even an option. But I never. At that point I didn't think about it.
For me it was just an interest. A bit like reading the astronomy books when I was 10. It was that kind of level of.
Or reading about werewolves and the occult and stuff. It was just something I was interested in. Back then when I was a little kid.
A weird subject for a nine year old but hey. And. So then.
I. It just progressed from there and I went on. I just kept buying more books reading more books listening to more audio tapes. And.
Ended up doing an NLP course practitioner. Then a master practitioner. Then a hypnosis course.
And it just kind of grew from there. But I still had no intention of doing it. Of doing anything with it.
I was just interested in it. I didn't want to do one on one sessions with people. I didn't even really know what that was.
I mean at that time I'd had like a few counseling sessions. With a counselor that fell asleep on me. And.
And that's also when I realized. Oh. Maybe that kind of connected with.
I'm just talking and she's her eyes are falling asleep. So what I used to do her eyes are falling asleep her eyes were closing. So what I used to do is play around with it with people.
And I'd look at them and I'd talk and I'd see their eyes kind of like struggling to stay open. And then I'd distract them and I'd just do little play with people just not in a bad way but just. And try some of the techniques out on people.
We're in normal conversations. And. It used to be hard for some people to actually focus on what I was saying because I'd be moving around.
And. And they would gloss over. And I found I thought wow this is really weird.
I mean it was happening anyway even when I wasn't even trying for it to happen. So you know clearly I've always been very boring. But then when I was.
There was times later on. When I was in a nightclub doing a disco I would. Talk to someone because I'd be in a booth there'd be the other side of the booth.
And I'd talk to someone sometimes and I just keep talking and keep talking. And they would just. Stand there.
In a trance. And I'd just be talking I wouldn't I wouldn't say anything weird just. I just continue talking about a subject.
That we were talking about and then moving on to another subject. And then. I'd kind of.
Tap the. Weather and they'd like. And they'd come out of it.
It was weird. I just like this is strange people can be so distracted or going in inwards so easily. And I wasn't giving suggestions I wasn't.
Doing anything strange. Taking advantage or anything like that wasn't really it's not in my. Character to want to do stuff like that.
Plus it was in a public place. So they were listening to the music. But it was really weird how.
They would just. Be so. Focused yet.
Unfocused at the same time. And. The first time I did hypnosis.
Well the first I did twice the first time I did any kind of hypnosis was with a lady. And this was. Probably ninety nine.
Ninety eight ninety nine. Yeah ninety nine. And I put on this big course and no one turned up except her.
So I was hoping to get a hundred people paying a thousand pound each. That was that was what I was trying to do. She turned up.
And I just did a session with her. And she enjoyed it she said she really helped. And.
I said a hundred pound please. I didn't. So she just had a free session and that was it so that was my first ever.
Therapy session which I wasn't really prepared for because. The group session was going to be more about motivation and. Just playing around with ideas and you know just testing stuff.
And then I had a relative that was. This probably the same year later on. No the next year 2000.
Seriously. Like depressed proper depressed. And she was sitting opposite side of the room.
So what I did is I did did some hypnosis with her. And I was talking for about an hour and a half. And then.
She fell asleep but I just left her. And I went home just because she was at her dad's house. So she was just.
There's my cousin. So she just went to sleep. And.
All I might have done actually maybe she woke up I can't remember. I saw her the next day and she was or two days late and she was so bright and bubbly. Like really.
Different. And I'd been given a suggestions. I'm not saying that I reverted I reversed her depression I'm not saying that.
But. I don't know how serious how she was feeling was. But her mood changed dramatically.
She seemed like a different person. And. It just all started with relaxation.
And you know she asked me to do it so like I just relax and. Then I'm given a suggestions and I'm talking for about an hour and a half. And I go into that.
Mindset that. I've always been well not always but I seem to be able to go into. Which would probably be the same kind of thing that I would do with people.
And. Where I could just talk and talk. And talk and talk.
And instead of it just being mundane. Talking about the environment and. Talking about the music or talking about the the floor.
You know it's. Focused on positive suggestions. Which were related to.
What was going on with her in that moment. And I also noticed that I felt relaxed. And it was like oh.
So I used to quite like to there's a few other things I used to do is. Pacing with people. So I do.
There's a thing with NLP called pacing which is kind of matching matching people's behavior. So. If you do it too obvious they're going to notice.
So if they cross their legs and you cross your legs. And. And perhaps they touch their left shoulder with the right hand and you touch your left shoulder your right hand.
And. They bend over and do a massive fart and then you bend over and do you know it's you can't match necessarily completely. Because it can be obvious.
But. You can do it subtly. And there's a degree of rapport that's built and I've played around with this for years.
And. It's kind of strange how. It's almost like I feel and I can only I can only go on how it feels for me.
Although I've not done this for a long many many years. Is it's almost like there's a connection. An invisible connection a positive connection.
Almost a familiarity. So they might move their leg and maybe I move my right my arm. Or.
They bend over and fart and I just do a wee wee in the corner. Of course none of that stuff happened but. So weird thing to say.
So yeah I just kind of. I played around with that and when I did my sales. My very first sales job.
Not the insurance but the other one. It was calling people up and I wrote I had a script. Like a general script what we were supposed to say what was supposed to offer.
I changed it using hypnotic language. And. I also changed my voice tone depending on who was this who I was talking to.
And change the speed of my voice. Maybe change my language not my actual speaking language but. I don't just made subtle changes and then.
Went from being kind of just. Changed myself and they started to. Gradually change and become a little bit more like me and.
Maybe talk a bit more slower like I do and. Feel a bit calmer and. Kind of come down to my level maybe.
So. But this hypnotic script I had. Was really good it.
I really I pulled off all the stops to put that together. And. Yeah admittedly it was manipulative but then sales is manipulative.
You know so. Someone phones you up if you go into a car dealership. The second you walk in there they're trying to sell you a car.
They don't see you they see you as someone to sell a car to. You know any kind of sales like someone shows you around. Real estate around a building a flat or a house whatever.
An estate agents whatever you want to call them they're there. To get money from you and sell you stuff. And they are using sales techniques.
And sales techniques. Are the same as hypnotic techniques. You know NLP has affected.
Hypnosis and NLP has affected sales in a big way. There are even things like giving people the. And psychology as well.
Giving people the illusion of the option of choice. So when do you want me to call you. Do you want me to call you at.
11.30 in the morning or 2.30 in the afternoon. So the person says oh 2.30. I'll still be in bed at 11.30. Almost like they've taken control but they haven't because you've. You've given them two options but you're still.
Leading them to where you want them to be. So sales is manipulative. And I was yeah I did use the hypnosis techniques in sales.
But I think after a while after the script. I just used my personality. I was just friendly to people and.
That was. Seemed to be enough. And there was just some things different between some people that would get a sale and they wouldn't.
And I sussed this out quite late in my. Sales career. Is the major difference between someone that does well in sales.
I'm not talking about the top people but the ones that do well. Because there's a big gap between those that aren't very good. Those that are good as in sales wise.
And then those that are really really good. There's a difference. But the main difference between those that are good.
And those that aren't very good at selling. And when it comes to like on the phone sales. Car insurance anyway.
It's the ones that don't sell much. They just don't ask. Don't ask for the sale.
The ones with the sales. So they'll do the quote let's say for the car insurance. So there you go that's a reference number.
They might say I don't suppose you want it dear. Which is. Basically asking for a no isn't it.
Like do you want do you want to do you want to call back. Do you want to take it now or do you want to just call back with a reference number. Chances are that person has been off given an opportunity to like.
Well I'll just take a reference number. The good salesperson will say. Right should we get that done for you then.
You happy with that. Or if you're happy with that we'll get it we'll get it all set up now. That's the.
Like I say average even like a good good salesperson on anything. The really good ones will say. You want to pay that on credit card or debit card.
Would you want to do installments. So there won't be. Do you want to take it.
It will be assuming that you want to take it. Even. And you got.
This is what I had to learn. Is. Ask that question.
Even if the insurance prices come up a thousand pound more than the current quote. Even if it's. And you can both have a laugh as well.
At it. Always ask. Do you want to pay that by.
Do you want to pay that on a card or do you want to do installments. As an example. It depends how the payment is these days.
And if they don't. I don't want it. What I found is just keep talking.
A little bit like the hypnosis thing where I just used to just keep talking. About the benefits. Keep talking.
Keep talking. Eventually. Sometimes people.
Just. They just. The idea of having to go through this all over again.
With another company. To get another quote. It's just like.
I can't just take it now. I can't bother to go through this again. And.
But it is sales. That was what. You know it's a long time ago since I did all this stuff.
But it was sales. And. That's the difference between people.
That don't sell much. Because they don't know this. They don't.
They haven't learnt it. And that's one of the things I noticed with sales. But they don't.
They'll tell you how to. Information about the thing. But they won't really go into detail.
Like how to sell. It's really easy. If you dissect what the top people do.
I mean some people are so good. They'll just say. So we do that then.
Get it set up. Yeah good. Without even any interest.
I knew someone that used to do that. Didn't care. And the person on the other side of the phone.
Knew that he wasn't desperate. He could tell. And he said.
All right then. There was so. So little pressure.
On the customer. To take the product. That they just said.
All right. And then that's some other people. I'll go on please.
Be a best friend. And it's different. There's different techniques.
But. I should write. I don't know.
I wonder. I think maybe I should write a book. For.
Phone sales. Call center sales. Just that information on its own.
Could. Turn a company around. If you get all the low.
I say lowest. But the. The lowest sellers.
Listen to all of them. And guaranteed. I would say.
You can hear. The same thing. Lack of confidence.
Lack of. Probably product knowledge. Which isn't their fault.
If they just started the job. But also. Probably not asking for the business.
And I said that. When I got my very last sales job. I said.
I'm already in the 20 percent. Of your sales force. Before even starting.
This is an interview. So I had two people. They're interviewing me.
One of them looked at me. A bit weird. Admittedly.
I was wearing my dressing gown. And the other one. Like.
Okay. Tell us more. I said.
I'm not being rude. And I said. No.
That's why I'm interested. I said. Well.
I said. I'm not being arrogant or anything. The fact is.
I'm. Already in the top 20 percent. Already.
And I'll tell you why. And I think I told him exactly. What I just said to you.
Is. And I said. And I said.
You can tell me I'm wrong. If you want. That's what people do.
And I said. Yeah. It's true.
No matter how much we train people. They still won't ask. They're too scared.
Afraid. They're too nervous. Whatever.
To ask. For the business. And.
It's. Or. Some people just.
Find it impossible to. Build any kind of rapport. On the phone.
And. Yeah. It's.
It's a very skillful job. I'm not saying I was skillful. But.
There is a degree of skill. You need to have. To work on a telephone.
When you've got people. From all over. Well.
All over the world. Sometimes. Phoning in.
With so many different accents. To be able to. Tune your.
Ears. Into the different accents. And.
To be able to be patient. Enough to do that. And also.
To realize that. They're also having to be patient. It's.
Yeah. Wouldn't like to go back to it. If I'm honest.
It was one. It's something I was good at. But it wasn't good for me.
So. Yeah. There you go.
See. Yeah. That's how I got into hypnosis.
Or hypnotherapy. And then. That's what my first.
And then I ended up. Moving away from. London.
I got the job in the insurance. Company. I did nothing.
And. Hypnotherapy related. Between 2000.
Pretty much in 2004. Except continue to collect the books. I was still interested.
I was still reading. But I didn't. I didn't want to do anything with it.
I had no interest really. But in 2004. I decided to do the.
Pain relief service. In my local town. Free pain relief.
And. I put adverts in a paper that got nothing. And then I relaunched it.
And I don't want another hypnosis course. 2005. And then I relaunched.
My pain relief. 2006. And it took off.
And then I did volunteer in. And we did relaxation sessions. Rehab.
Drugs rehab. And alcohol charity. Two different charities.
And. Then I started doing the. Online stuff.
The podcasts. Starting off with the live recordings. I took.
And start making videos. And you know. Went from there really.
But the. The origins was those two books. And.
Just. Kind of happened. Don't really know why.
I kind of suppose I'm glad it did. It's definitely. Taken up a bit of my time in it.
And you think. 1998. To now.
I've been kind of. Yeah. It's been.
A large focus of my life. So. Nearly.
Nearly 28 years. 28 years. I mean next month.
20 years. I'll have been. Doing.
This stuff. Online. 20 years.
It's weird isn't it. Don't know if you can hear that. The.
The bass. It's got louder. Again.
Considering I've been doing this for 20 years. You'd think I'd be successful by now. Wouldn't you.
Or I'd have took the hint. Need for those has happened. So.
That's the end of this recording. So thank you Inc. Thank you Maria.
Remember to be kind to yourself. Because you do. Deserve to be happy.
And be gentle with yourself. You deserve to feel safe. And remember that you are enough.
You're already enough. And you're going to be okay. Lots of love.
Bye.
