Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Saturday, Saturday, Saturday Summary.
So I've done a few of these Saturday Summaries in the past, not regularly, but you know every now and then. I've approached this one a little bit differently. So what I've done is, as you may know, I transcribe all of my recordings.
Every time I make a recording, I transcribe it and then I get a description of it done and all that stuff. So over the last week, I've got Monday's Borrowing Objects, Trivia Tuesday, Whisper Wednesday, Thursday Throwbacks and Q&A Friday. So they're the ones that I have done.
So the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of November. I didn't do anything on the Sunday. Or the Saturday actually, last week.
So I've got 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 recordings that have all been transcribed anyway. And I've asked ChatGPT to, this is what I put in, because I've got I've got each individual transcription in a PDF file so I can read that. But I've also uploaded a zip file of all of the 5 recordings, transcripts, and I've posted in to ChatGPT, I want to do a weekly recording called Saturday Summary.
Where I recollect, recollect what I've personally done over the last week. I want to base this on what I have discussed during my podcasts throughout the week. I have uploaded transcripts.
Can you compile a list of things? And ChatGPT said, Wow, juicy, JJ, what a brilliant idea. Saturday Summary will be a breeze to assemble from your transcripts. I've gone through the files you uploaded for this week and built a clean, ready to use draft you can read out or paste into your show notes.
Now, I'm not going to be reading out, it's just got a list, it's not like I'm reading a script. It's given me a list of stuff that I've kind of discussed. What I can also do is go to the individual file as well.
So what have I got? Speed note there, the word ones, PDF. All right, so Monday's boring objects. I'm just trying to think what did I do last Sunday? What have I done today? So far, I watched, I watched Big Brother last night.
And it was eviction night. Only one week left. Can you believe it? One week left.
And yeah, just when it's finished. I took Vinnie into the garden to do a wee wee, and then I had a shower and then I went to bed. And I woke up about six o'clock.
Got up today, about just after six. And I was probably in bed by half 10, I'd say. Maybe a little bit later.
And so I had my breakfast. Just did the same old usual, go through my stats to see what's going on. And you know how many downloads I've had.
And it's weird, I'm not quite sure what's going on. But the stats have changed. There's been a change lately.
Just in I'm not sure why I'm like, for example, today. The United States is the top Australia's second United Kingdom third. But the United States is a top by a lot.
And let's see, I could never really figure out, you know, quite why this is. But yesterday, it's some other things as well. So I've got.
So if I look at geolocation, yesterday, United States and United Kingdom, but it's a big difference between that I mean, the US has always had a lot more people listening to it than anyone else by country. Always been that case. But the United Kingdom's grown over time.
Now, the United States is a lot further along again. And then I look at sources. And by sources, I mean, what app, what podcast app are people listening to me on? For years, and years and years, a long, long time.
Apple podcasts has always been at the top. You know, always, without doubt, always, just like always, always, always. Now, I mean, I've been getting less on Apple podcasts now, ever since I had that blip.
And when Apple podcasts stopped re uploading or stopped refreshing the feed, so that my recordings weren't being released as I was making them, which messed up a lot of stuff there. So I had to delete some podcasts and open some more ones, some new ones to replace them. So that's put me back probably quite a few years actually with Apple podcasts.
But the number one is overcast. So today is this yesterday overcast. Number one by probably 20 at least 20% 25%.
And even podcast addict is there. I mean, this is quite a few different ones. But today, look at sources today, what have we got? Again, overcast at the top by at least 120 downloads more.
So far today, it's like just before one o'clock in the afternoon. If I go for the last seven days, Apple podcast is at the top. But overcast is really grown.
I mean, on Sunday, the 2nd of November, overcast was over twice as many as Apple podcast. But then Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Apple and Thursday, Apple podcast was the top. Then yesterday and today so far.
It's changed like overcast is taken over. Now, if we go to last month, how far back are we going to go with this? Okay, last month, again, Apple podcast way way by 1000s like 11,000 more downloads than podcast addict last month, but it's really grown. It's gone from being like a few to hundreds every day.
Overcast. No, why overcast or podcast addict? What am I talking about? Podcast addict. So podcast addicts been growing as well.
And then on the 29th of October, overcast streamed ahead. It's like a horse race. So from the last month, Apple podcast at the top, podcast addict was second and overcast was third.
And then Spotify was fourth. So it's podcast, podcast addict. The last 12 months.
Really, Vinnie? Again, it's overcast. It's kind of been the same Apple podcast, podcast addict, overcast, and then Spotify. Not a lot of difference between podcast addict and overcast.
But Spotify, and over 12 months, Spotify had just under 300,000 downloads, podcast addict 13,636, overcast 10,038. And then there's a bunch of others as well, all together 363,101 downloads for the last 12 months. So that will be from, I guess, November the ninth to last year to November the eighth this year today.
And I'm just like, okay, it's just weird the way it's grown. So podcast addicts, it's not overcast, podcast addict. So they've both grown.
That's what I'm trying to say. Both overcast and podcast addict has grown more and more every month to the point where it's almost starting to take over. An overcast has taken over is winning the race this month.
That's what's so weird. Something just bleeped there. Did you hear that? I can't turn this thing off.
I don't want bleeps. It's an Instagram story. Why do I want an Instagram story to bleep me? What possible reason could that be? I'll turn the volume down.
It's very strange. I just yeah, I'm confused. I'm literally overcast to be the top one, two, three, four days out of eight.
So if anyone, maybe you're listening on overcast. Perhaps overcast is the new, the new popular app to listen on. I'm going to have a look overcast.
Let's see if there's anything free simple award winning podcast player for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Pick up extra speed without distortion with smart speed, which dynamically shorten silences in talk shows. Is that why people are listening so they can listen to my recordings quicker? At normal speed, let's get rid of all the silences.
So that two hour recording will be 15 minutes. Wow. So look at the features.
Because I don't, I, I listen really only to my own podcasts. And I use my website for that. Overcast free.
The art, the podcast app that perfects the art of listening. Typically, when you open any podcast directory, the home screen shows what the directory wants to promote. If you're easily distracted, like me in brackets, it's a huge drag to get past the shows they want to promote and find the shows I want.
But overcasts user interface gets me to the shows I want right away. I can tailor each podcast listening experience. According to this, people are saying that overcast is the best one out of all of them.
I really I'm grateful to them for you know, for I don't know if they'd be promoting my shows because I'm not paying them anything. So I doubt they'll promote him but just for making my recordings available. Thank you.
Thank you very much. Is overcast was pod? Yeah, overcast. Also podcast addict as well.
So thank you. Wherever you listen. Thank you.
It's just something that I've been trying to figure out. Because if it wasn't for those two podcasts, those two podcast host apps, whatever you want to call them, or all the others, in fact, I would be a little bit stumped because I've relied so much on Apple podcasts over the years. So when you think about it, if I go for the last 12 months, literally out of 363,000 298,000 was from Apple podcasts.
I mean, that's that's not a lot, is it? You know, it's like was that 50 60 162,000 for a whole year, which is it's not good. Yeah, I don't know what happened. I don't know what's happened to Apple podcasts something I've tried to figure out how I can sort of correct it all.
I tried apologizing. I mean, okay, I'll take some of the responsibility because I did. I made a few changes and stuff.
I'll take that. Because I did. But I am not responsible for them not refreshing and uploading the latest recordings to the podcasts.
I didn't even know they were doing that. It was only because people were telling me my listening and you people listening, or contact me and saying, or some people saying your podcasts aren't refreshing. And some people saying, how come you haven't released a recording in like six weeks, a new recording.
And which I found a little bit strange, because, you know, I get like a message on the Facebook group. And I post every time I do new recording, I post. Can you make a little bit more noise, please, Vinnie.
Thank you. And it was does the opposite to what I say. That's right.
Someone in doing in the big room in downstairs. Yeah, so it's a little bit of a shame. Hopefully, it will sort itself out over time.
I've just got to not make any changes. New changes. And it's weird because when I put my name in, so if I put in, let me put to sleep.
And that's not my name. So if I put in let me put to sleep in Google. And just see what comes up.
So let me put to sleep on Apple podcast comes up. Page can't be found. It's not good, is it? Link 100 wouldn't come be found either.
So the very, very top one, page can't be found. So if I go down, let me put to sleep on pod bean. Pod beans should be fine.
Yeah, let me put to sleep. That's all up to date. Tune in, let me put to sleep.
That is about two years, two and a half years out of date. That's ridiculous. I don't know how why? Really? So tuning, I don't think tuning is even around anymore.
It's I mean, it's on there. But I don't think they allow you to post new, new podcasts. YouTube, of course, I'm on YouTube.
Spotify, let's have a look what comes up on Spotify. Let me put to sleep. Yep, that's up to date.
Radio UK 404. So that page isn't even available. So I don't know if Radio UK still going.
I'll find another Apple podcast one. Page can't be found. It is not helping my cause, is it? Pod bean, pod bean again.
Okay, yeah, it's on it. As I go forward, Deezer. Let Me Bore You To Sleep on Deezer.
Yep, that's up to date. Thanks, Deezer. Apple podcast again.
Click on this one. No page you're looking for can't be found. So that's Sam is at three now three Apple podcasts that can't be found.
Castro.fm. It's on there, but it's an app. So I'd have to go on to all that's the one with SoundCloud. So I'd have to go on to an iPad or iPhone to view that.
Spotify again. Yep, that's up to date. I don't know what it's to for Spotify.
Nevermind. Musicmatch.com. I don't know what's going on there. So get out of that.
That's an old thing pod chaser pod chaser pod chaser pod chaser recent episodes pancakes. So that's the latest one. ASMR Let Me Bore You To Sleep.
Pancakes. So yeah, I'm not going to test to see if it works because I don't want to. I don't want to.
I've already done all that anyway in the past. Podcast addict. That's the one we were talking about a minute ago.
And consent. And that's up to date. Wow.
Okay, that's good. A few adverts on there. Probably different on the phone.
So that's up to date. November 7 2025, which was yesterday. Is there any I got 26 people following me.
And there's 1000 episodes on here. Average 254 minutes. According to this.
I just want to go down. Okay, no, so there's no kind of nothing else. You just keep going down to find the one you want.
I am db.com which is a film review place. It's got one of my recordings. I don't know why that is.
Why is it got a film review for maybe it's because I did one about the Meg two movie. So I thought it was a film review. Apple podcast.
This time it's New Zealand. I see what comes up page you can't be found. Okay.
SoundCloud. That'll be fine. That works.
Yep. podscan.fm. Okay, yeah, that's fine. I've not heard of bots pod scan before.
Monthly listeners estimated. Sign in to view. Okay, so 500 total episodes.
4.5 Apple ratings. So these have been taken. Listen SoundCloud.
Okay. So that's all updated. What if it takes me to the show? I wonder.
4.5 Apple reviews. Why would it have Apple reviews if it's on SoundCloud? Hmm. Okay.
Audible.com. Now, I don't really know if it's on Audible. It seems a bit weird. Let Me Bore You To Sleep.
This was 2003. Wow. Let's just search me to see.
It does indeed have me on there. Wow. Listen for free.
It's got my latest for my podcast on audible.co.uk or.com or whatever. Audible, where you listen to audiobooks. So that's handy.
I don't know. Right, that's not any good. Let's have a look.
I think it's one of those things where it just chooses for itself, which ones so it adds it in itself. So some of the podcasts are outdated. But I don't have access.
I don't have the ability to remove stuff. If that makes sense. I mean, I've got one here.
Oh, that's hypnosis daily. There's some really old stuff on here. Let Me Bore You To Sleep.
Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Okay, one here. And last recording on that one is 1049.
Happy Sunday. Let Me Bore You To Sleep. October the 3rd 2023.
Oh my goodness. See, yeah. I don't think it's going to take much to realize that this is not going to work.
Listen for free. I've got a sign in. I can't bothered but that's not going to work anyway.
Because that's not even around anymore. Apple podcasts, Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Still not showing up.
I mean, I'm on page four of Google. Looking for Let Me Bore You To Sleep. I've got an old Spotify one, Let Me Bore You To Sleep.
That's what it says. And the last recording I did was on the 1st of June 2018. So that's an old one.
That's a Spotify. Okay, Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Apple podcasts, says 24th of May 2025.
No, still can't be found. I is yeah, I'm just a little bit flummoxed by it if I'm honest. The amount of podcasts that are coming up, they're just not showing anything.
I found another one. Pages can't be found. Let Me Bore You To Sleep Apple podcasts.
Let me bore your pain away. Sorry, not Let Me Bore You To Sleep. It does say Let Me Bore You To Sleep.
Let Me Bore You To Sleep. No, let me bore your pain away. So that's working fine.
Let Me Bore You To Sleep this one. Nope. I'm kind of surprised at how, how many are just not coming up.
That's quite a few I've mentioned. Now I've searched, I've checked. All the new links I did all the new you know, the stuff works fine.
So on my website, all the Apple podcasts, the Spotify, all those links work. But Google has not updated the links. Which is not good, really not very good at all.
Even Deezer, some of the websites that rely upon Apple podcasts to get their feed from, they're updating fine. I find it all very perplexing, perplexing. If I started all over again, I would just stick to just one podcast.
Yeah, if I started, I think, going back, if I was going back to 2018, I would just do the let me bore you to pod, Let Me Bore You To Sleep podcast. And that would be it. Nothing else.
Stick to that one podcast. Apart from the other one, got the one with like hypnosis stuff on and that because I wouldn't want to miss out on all those years of hypnosis stuff. I wouldn't have kind of made would have turned into a podcast octopus.
With so many different podcasts. Thinking I was like trying to reach more people. But in fact, I don't know.
Oh, let me bore your pain away. So I've got that another one. That says let me board.
Again, this is weird. Phineas found something interesting in a bag that he's looking at. So I got pod chaser, Let Me Bore You To Sleep.
I'm sure they did a review of me. And they were very scathing, very scathing indeed. But that's all up to date.
Can you hear him? What's he doing? Jen, genuinely do not know. He's been very sneaky because he's pulled the bag from where I can see him. If he doesn't know he's done it, he's moved it.
So it's out of my sight, out of my vision. I can't see what he's doing. I'll try and look under the table.
What are you doing? What are you doing? I'm watching you. I'm watching you. Looks like an empty bag.
Pod Bay. So look, I've now got his undivided attention. Pod Bay and this is ASMR, Let Me Bore You To Sleep.
7th of May 2024. Again, I don't have a separate podcast for that anymore. This is weird.
It's really, really strange. So every single Let Me Bore You To Sleep Apple podcast, I've clicked on every link that's coming up. It's just showing, you know, it's not available.
Page you're looking for can't be found. Another one. Page you're looking for can't be found.
And it's basically it's got a version for each country. So that was ZA. This one up here is IL.
You've got NZ, there's US, there's UK, there's quite a few different ones. So do believe 91 to 99 of 32 million 300,000 results. I used to get excited that many years ago thinking this 32,300,000 results for my name.
And then I realized after about 12 pages, there was nothing left. It lied to me. Castbox.
Here we go. Castbox. That's up to date.
Again, Castbox relies upon Apple podcasts. Very strange. Very, very strange.
I've already done podcast addict of my I did in mind if I don't overcast yet. podcast addict. Yeah, that's all up to date.
So yeah, I've done another one. Nope, that's not found it. Okay, nearly at the end of another one.
This was for LV. Is that Latvia? I don't know. So it's one for different countries.
My website's come up a lot as well. And so YouTube, I'm not clicking on those. This one's AE.
I don't know what country that is. Arab Emirates possibly. The thing is, if I liked a podcast, and it wasn't available, it wasn't refreshing, I would go to the app and look for it.
I'd look, you know, I'd search or search elsewhere. Because anything that's on Apple podcasts, automatically is going to be on pretty much every other app. Because that's where they get them from.
So cast box. So many of the different podcast apps where you can listen to podcast, they they get the stream from Apple podcasts. This is let me bore your pain away again.
But that's under Let Me Bore You To Sleep. It's very strange. Oh, I wish I had an expert that could just look at this and say, Oh, wait a minute, this is what you need to do.
And hopefully they don't chuck the laptop out of the window. I have a solution. Crash.
Okay, another one. Page not nice. This is IE.
So I guess that's Ireland. Would IE be Ireland? Oh, I found it. I finally found this under us.
I found he finally found the podcast. Let Me Bore You To Sleep. And it's taken me how long has it taken me? But about an hour is taking me up to page 17.
The last page, the last link on page 17. And I've searched through 169 different links to find one. I mean, some of those were fine.
There were different different places, but I must have gone through what 4040 Apple podcast links to get to one that actually worked. We've got another one here now. So this one's working fine.
This is us isn't exactly the same one. But it says 3828. 3828.
I'm confused. 3828. Sorry, this is the page.
This one is 3828. So that's the it's the same page. I don't know why it's coming up twice.
Let's get another one. No error occurred. So this one doesn't work.
A different one. Very strange. Let Me Bore You To Sleep another one on Apple page you're looking for can't be found.
Now, the problem is, I can find each of these podcasts that it's looking for. And I can make them available on Apple podcasts. But they're not refreshing.
So if it won't refresh, it's pointless. It's a pointless exercise. And then people be going on there, thinking all he was all right.
Oh, Jason, he was okay until September 2025. When he stopped making recordings. Not knowing that, you know, 10 years later, I'm still making recordings.
I just don't know because they're listening to them on the wrong page. So it doesn't seem a lot of point having that stuff on there. Another one here.
This is Australia. Anyway, what did I do this week? Just trying to think Monday's boring objects. I'll fight.
I'll tell you the main thing this week has been fireworks. Oh my goodness. Maybe I've just got my memories going or whatever.
But I don't remember Vinnie being quite as reactive to the fireworks as he has been this year. And it really started I think Friday night last Friday. Then Saturday.
And pretty much every night since. I don't think I heard any last night. And Thursday night was minimal.
But I'm kind of expecting it to be full on tonight. Even before the Saturday before or the Saturday after bonfire night would be a time when you know the old fireworks are in full throttle. And maybe both because everyone's got their own died to do their own thing that they I I kind of really don't want them to be going tonight just because of Vinnie he doesn't like it.
I personally don't care. I like fireworks. I like watching them.
I don't care about hearing them either. But he excuse me he does not like him. And I don't like him seeing seeing him like that.
But it's never for long. Because unfortunately for the families but fortunately for those that don't want to hear it is fireworks are very expensive. And they kind of done very quickly.
You know even if you get a firework display that costs hundreds of thousands of pounds. It's still only going to last about 10 minutes. You know the New Year's Eve or New Year's Day midnight thing you know firework display.
I spent millions on those displays and it's kind of gone quite quickly. So fireworks are very expensive. And one of my main memories of firework night was Guy Fawkes.
I didn't used to call it Guy Fawkes. I call it firework night and or bonfire night sorry bonfire night. So we'd have a bonfire in the garden every year for quite a few years.
Which was I think quite handy for my dad because we had a garden. It was a nice size and unless you had to dig it or mow it then it wasn't a nice size. And he always had stuff to burn always.
So we'd have this fire this this big bonfire. My step-mom would make a big buffet. I mean you know it's really lovely buffet.
Sausage rolls sandwiches crisps cakes you name it. It was like great and that was the best part really. I never ever remember once standing outside on bonfire night without being freezing cold.
This week it's been about 15 degrees. It's like just no hats needed not even a coat really just a jumper. I mean it's not the first time I've known it to be like that in November but when I was a kid I never I've got no memories of it being mild.
Always really cold. And I'll have my gloves on and have me sparkles. That's hard to hold the sparkler.
If anyone knows what a sparkler is you basically you light the end of it and it it's kind of a little bit like a joystick but it sparkles. And it goes all the way down but it's like your lava. And if you touch it by accident you know like it it would burn.
It really burns. So I used to try and do it with my gloves on but then I'd end up burning a hole in my gloves. But you'd wave it around in the dark and try and like write my name or write a rude word because you can't get in trouble for writing a rude word with a sparkler in the dark because you only get a certain amount of the word.
So I remember my dad was looking at me saying what are you trying to say to me son? I said F. I saw F. Then something something K. Then Y. Y. What were you trying to say? Nothing daddy. Great firework display this year. Top notch.
One year, one year we had indoor fireworks. It was a new thing. It was a craze.
It was a new invention. Indoor fireworks. My memory is that it very very disappointing for everyone involved.
It just wasn't. It was kind of like a like slow motion firework spongy stuff shooting out of a little bucket. I don't know but it wasn't.
Yeah it wasn't great. I don't know why. It was probably just as a novelty you know.
It's the same way as we had those. What's those things we used to cook your own food? Not an Ewok. And it'd be like a like a little Bunsen burner almost on the table and it'd be like all these little things of oil and you'd cook your food for yourself and and then you'd eat it and like it would take forever.
Oh what was that called? All I know it was wrong. It was wrong and it was I wasn't. I mean some inventions I liked.
Soda streams, brilliant. But at the same time I still prefer the coke. The soda streams kind of replaced.
For a short time it gave parents an opportunity to give their kids cheaper fizzy drinks. Cola flavor. Lemonade flavor.
Orange flavor fizzy drinks and they were fine. But I still preferred the real thing. They had a that was that was so much advertisements for that soda stream.
I remember it even now. Get busy with the fizzy. It's like what? It's like the other the shaking vac.
Gotta do the shaking vac to put the fish in his back. It's like what? Get busy with the fizzy. Etched in my brain.
I want them there but they're there. I cannot remove them. These little tag lines from adverts from 40 years ago.
Yeah I used to look forward to bonfire night. They're quite like just talking about that. It just reminds me of my when I got my very first proper sales job.
I want to say proper sales job. I mean one that actually paid me. Because during the 90s I had multiple sales jobs that were commission only.
And I never got paid a single penny. Because I ran out of money getting there. Couldn't even afford the fare.
So I'd be there for like four days and then I had to stop going. So actually no it was my second paid job. I did have another one selling tool roll.
So but that was for a few weeks. Yeah so this is it was my old class my first proper sales job. And this was in 2001.
And I was selling phone contracts. Giving away a brand new phone with a contract. You know telephone contract.
With certain amount of minutes hours text and stuff like that. I don't think camera phones were around back then. And the internet was WAP.
That's what they used to call it. W A P. And it was basically just digital. Like a kind of just like a text version of the internet.
Like a text. We send a text. So that was kind of what the internet was on the phones.
Of course that changed pretty much really with the smartphones. Was that 2004? 2005? I don't know. Anyway I had this supervisor.
There's quite a few I don't know how many people work in there. Probably about 25. 30 maybe.
And one of my supervisors he was the sales manager. Or sales supervisor. It was something like that.
And he'd walk around and talk to us. And he'd talk to me. And we had a little bit in common.
We got on well. He was older than everyone else and I kind of saw his eye as well. Most of the people that work in there were in their late teens early 20s.
And I was 30. Yeah I was 30 at the time. He was probably about 35.
So you know we probably had a little bit more in common. And he also was into martial arts and I'd had that in you know. I'd had that experience previously in my life.
The love of it anyway. And it came up to me. He asked me what I like to do.
He was asking people randomly. He said what do you what do you like to do when you're not working. I said well I like comedy.
I like watching comedy shows. That's really. And building websites.
You know that's what I was kind of up to at the time. And hypnosis. But I wasn't doing it.
I just was reading about it. And he looked away. He walked away in fact.
And I have. So I start making a phone call. And this was phoning out.
So I basically just had a list of phone numbers. And I called people randomly. Cold calling.
But I was getting paid. I was getting a basic plus commission. So I'm just getting through to the person.
And he walks back up to me. And I'm kind of in the middle of this conversation with the the not the patient not the client. The potential customer.
And they're talking. So I just hold the thing over. And he and he says to me.
He leans forward says. I like to burn things. And then just walked away.
And I started laughing. Because it was just so random. Out of the blue.
We know what random is. I just like. I didn't know what to do with that information.
I like to burn things like so weird. Bearing in mind he's an adult. And I'm in the middle of trying to convince someone to have something they don't want.
I.e. a mobile phone contract. Because back then. Mobile phones.
I'd say predominantly pay as you go. You could get a mobile phone. With 20 pound of credit.
For 19 pound. Like a brand new phone. For 19 pound.
With 20. You literally get more credit than it costs you. For the phone.
To buy the whole thing. And they were making their money from people. Buying the credit.
Because it would run out quickly. Like 10 pence a minute or something. So.
And it'd be. Man that was such a good business to be in. In the late 90s.
Early 2000s as well. Selling credit. Whatever you want to call it.
You could just. It's like little scratch cards. Buy it.
And scratch it off. And you put the number in. And you've got another.
10 pounds or whatever. So. It was quite.
I mean it would work out a lot cheaper. For people to get a contract. But at the same time.
It's more control isn't it. If it's pay as you go. If you haven't got the money.
Then you just don't buy any credit. One of the things. And it was a company called Talk Talk.
And they were the biggest company. I think. No.
Is it Talk Talk. Not Talk Talk. It was 1 to 1. I think it was called 1 to 1. The company.
And. They did give contracts out. There was a lifetime contract.
Providing you paid. Every month. You got unlimited everything.
And people. And it was like 20 quid a month or 30 quid a month. Unlimited calls.
Unlimited taxes. That's about all you could do at the time. Well it ended up.
Costing the company so much money. Because people were using it. Like really hammering it.
And sharing the phone around. To the point where. 1 to 1 started trying to buy those contracts back from people.
A few years later. Yeah. 1 to 1. I'm sure.
What was that? The advert said. How are you? I was like. That was it.
Yeah. They'd answer the phone. How are you? Really? I don't answer the phone like that.
What I answer the phone is. Who is it? Who is it? What do you want? I suppose I could look at the screen to see who's calling. But.
It's less fun that way isn't it? Yeah. So I wasn't able to make. Yeah.
I was late doing the Q&A Friday last week. I did it on Saturday. I didn't do anything on Sunday.
Monday. I was doing it. But I thought.
It's very tired all day. I had a neighbour come round and I've been taking. Who did that? Oh yes.
I had a neighbour come round. I forgot about that. Had a neighbour come round.
Let's see what Chachi BT says. So personal notes and routines. Baths are awkward these days.
Oh dear. Late night wind downs with Big Brother. Classical music naps.
Chair dozes. Funny robe name struggles. It wasn't a case of funny name robe.
It's just I forget what it's called. I've got this bed gown thing that I bought a while back and. It's not quite long enough to cover everything when I'm lying down.
Standing up's fine. You wouldn't want to look up there. But standing up's fine.
Laying down. Mmm. It's things.
I just you know just. I don't think everything's necessarily covered to its potentially needs to be. And.
And I couldn't remember the name of it. What I should call it. Vinnie walks.
Multiple walks. Often after dark. Yeah this week I was getting more and more.
Mmm. Slightly. Concerned with going out and not being able to see.
Where I was and what I was doing. Because of the dark. It's getting dark late.
Earlier and. It was bugging me because I mean at one point I had someone walking directly at me through the grass. Couldn't see who it was.
What I just saw was a figure moving. And. I just stood.
I walked backwards to get out of the way. Now they weren't walking directly at me. But they would.
They kind of. We probably wouldn't have crossed paths. Because they were going like the other side of the park.
They're walking. Anyway I just like. I don't like this.
So I decided on Thursday. Wednesday or Thursday. That's it.
I'm not going out. Walking him in the dark anymore. Done.
Done. Done. Done.
So what I do now is. He still has his normal. Three.
Three walks a day. But the last one is on the pavement. And I take him out before it's dark.
It doesn't matter if we get home when it's starting to get a little bit dark. Because we're on the pavement. I'm fine.
But I don't take him in the park anymore at night. Or when it's dark. And he stays on the pavement.
And it's light when we go out. So it's kind of. Just after.
I don't know. I suppose sundown. Probably about 15 20 minutes after sundown.
We get home. And we're out for about 50 minutes. So it's quite a nice long walk on the pavement.
And yeah. So that's what I'm going to do. I'm not.
I will not be deviating from that. And I will not be going into the park at night. At all.
Because I can't see anything. Can't. I mean my eyesight's not great to see during the day.
At night time. No. So yeah.
So that's what I'm doing. And there's plenty of street lights and stuff. So I can kind of have more of a bearing on where I'm seeing.
You know. The only problem is Vinnie likes to go to the toilet on people's lawns. That's the downside.
If I'm in the park. He has no choice but to go on the park. So yeah.
It's one of those things. But. And if he can choose.
The perfect scenario for him. Is right in front of someone's living room. Where all the family are gathered around.
Looking out the window. At him. Do a poo.
And he looks up at me and winks. And giggles. While I'm picking it up.
While all these people are just watching like. And it's embarrassing. I don't want him going on people's lawns anyway.
But if he has to go on some grass. Do it around the back. Do it somewhere where there's no one around.
I can pick it up. And we can just get out of there. Or.
Do it on the communal grass. Nowhere near people's lawns. That would be.
Perfection. Is. He's got his own mind though.
He knows what he wants. And. Embarrassing me.
It's definitely. On his list. Of top five.
Things that he enjoys the most. Just have a look. I've been listening to music.
Relaxing. Been watching Big Brother. I feel a little bit sad that it's coming to the end.
I've only got one more week left. It'll change. I mean.
What I might do. To kind of take its place. Is watch.
The Jungle. Get me out of here. Show.
Because. That'll be on. And take me till Christmas.
And that's on every night. So I might watch that. We kind of.
You know. It's not that I need to watch something. But it's.
It's nice to have at least one thing on. TV. In the evening.
That I can kind of look forward to watching. Just one thing. I don't sit.
Watching TV all night. Like I used to when I was younger. I also started watching Ozark.
The weird thing about it. Is that Ozark's got. Is it got Jason Bateman.
And it's on Netflix. I watched. I watched at least halfway through the first season.
And I still. I've seen stuff. Maybe.
Yeah. I don't know how far in. But.
This stuff that I just don't remember. I'm watching it. And like.
I really don't know what's going to happen next. So. Yeah.
And I think it is. It is done as well. I think the the fourth season is the last one.
So they've done four seasons. I'll watch all four. I'll probably do in about two episodes a day.
And I'm enjoying it. I'm enjoying watching it again. I'm thinking.
Hmm. What other ones. What other shows can perhaps I watch.
And I thought about watching Dexter. Because again. I only watched.
Probably the. Maybe not the whole of the. Maybe the first season.
And 24 is another one that I didn't. I watched the whole of the first season of 24. Then I watched the first episode of the second season.
But this is back when I was watching box sets. I wasn't watching on the Internet. Didn't have.
I don't think Netflix was even a thing back then. So blockbusters was. So I was getting it from blockbusters.
But I think what happened is the second season of 24 was scratched. So I watched the first episode and the second episode was scratched. And I was just annoyed.
And that was it. I didn't want to know anymore. So.
What I might do is rewatch. I don't know if I need to watch the first season again in order to keep up with the second season. Because.
Pretty much remember what happens. It's also weird because. Bearing in mind it's such a high tech show.
Using really low tech equipment compared to now. Like using just little phones and. It's just weird.
Just it's kind of strange because it was proper high tech at the time. It's a bit. Yeah.
I don't know. It's. I think I think I should listen.
I should watch it. All of it. Perhaps.
And there's some some box sets I'd like to rewatch like Angel. Now I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the 90s. I used to watch it.
Angel I preferred. Angels seem to be much more aimed at adult audience. And I just enjoyed it more.
I'm not even sure why. I just did it just. Yeah I preferred it.
I'm not sure what other to. I'd like. Yeah I'd like to just watch some of these box sets from start to finish.
And Silo. I mentioned this quite a while ago now. The first two seasons of Silo I watched.
I don't know if they're making a third. Such a great show. It's on Apple TV.
So I think with Apple TV they make good TV shows. But it's not enough of them. For me to pay £10 a month.
For a handful of shows just seems a lot of money. You know have it at a lower price until you've got a few hundred shows. And then put it up.
Because you need also like 20 shows. 30 shows or so. It's like not a lot.
But if you compare it to Netflix. Now I know that Netflix don't make everything that they do. That they show.
But they do make a lot of stuff. So I've had some chair snoozes. And TV.
Yeah so I'm watching Ozark. Can you hear that? Someone's shouting in the garden. Recording in serious progress.
So I've just. Yeah so I did all five. Of the recordings this week.
Which is good. So all five days. Monday's Boring Objects.
Trivia Tuesday. Whisper Wednesday. Thursday Throwbacks.
And Q&A Friday. And now today. Sunday.
No. Saturday Summary. Website and content tasks.
Transcripts. Uploaded images and template work. Direct download links.
So yeah I've been organizing my websites. Also I've been organizing and trying to update the podcasts. Not in a weird way.
Just make sure that the. What I mean by weird way. I'm not messing around with stuff.
What I've done is. I wasn't up to date with the Sleepy Boring Objects. Which I am now.
Or Monday's Boring Objects. I wasn't up to date with Q&A Friday podcast. Like the individual podcast itself.
I'm still not. But I was. I've got.
Just remembered I've got to upload yesterday's recording. But other than that it's all up to date. Not that really many people go on there.
But hey. Yeah just kind of a little bit of cleaning up. A bit of tidying up.
Making sure that the podcast have the correct images. You know things like that. I had some PayPal gifts.
So I thanked everyone for that. So that was really helpful. Because I had my.
At the beginning of the month I have all these bills that go out. And I don't know why. It just got a little bit ahead of me.
All this. All these different things that were being taken out. But it's good now.
So thank you. Weather. Yeah I talk about the weather.
It's been nice this week. Just gone. It had one day of rain.
It wasn't really. A little bit of rain. But not enough to really.
Not enough to moan about the rain. But that was something that I was going to mention. On YouTube I'm starting to get more comments on my YouTube channel.
Let's have a look. So I want to say thank you to Tina from England. Who comments.
But I had this comment. Oh it's gone now. That's strange.
I had a comment and it was from. OK. So this was 17 hours ago by Jeremy Frost dash Y8U.
And this was from yesterday on the Q&A Friday on YouTube. People don't realize Jason isn't intentionally talking slowly here. He actually needs to speed up his voice eight times to achieve this result.
God bless you in your struggle. I just put cheers. I mean what is that an insult.
People don't realize that Jason isn't intentionally talking slowly here. I just talk at my speed. This is what speed I talk at.
And. He actually needs eight times. Come on.
If you if you sped my voice up. Eight times faster. It would be.
You wouldn't be able to recognize it. It would be like that. Now I know that.
Some people do talk very very fast. I'm just not one of them. I don't.
I think I was thinking about this. I think with some languages the reason why some people talk in other languages talk so fast is there's more words and the words are maybe longer. So there's more to fit into the sentence to say the same thing.
So maybe that's why. It sounds faster because. I don't know.
But even like you hear people from other parts of the country. Everyone seems to talk fast. I do hear people like man they're really really quick.
And like why are you. Why. Why.
Why are you talking so quickly. It's. I don't know.
I don't know. If did I ever used to do that. I might have done.
I mean generally when I'm making these recordings I become more relaxed. The more I sit here talking. And I guess my voice will mirror that.
Sense of relaxation. I don't know. I'm not sure.
Just trying to think if there's any other things. I've talked about Big Brother. Yeah on Monday I was quite happy because the.
In a sense of me doing the regular five days. You know. Boring Monday trivia Tuesday Whisper Wednesday Thursday throwbacks and Q&A Friday.
I thought that was quite good. It's all like. Feels like I'm getting into a sort of a groove.
It's taken a while. I would say you know. We just say here Q&A Friday.
It's very well established now. Monday's boring objects probably secondly. And then maybe trivia Tuesday.
I don't know. I'll talk a little bit about Thursday throwbacks because I was doing the. Television shows from the 80s.
So I've already done 1980 81. I did 1982 last Tuesday. So I've got one two three four five.
No one two three four five six seven more weeks left. To finish until the the 80s are done. So that's like what's that.
One two three four. Five six seven. Literally it would be Thursday the 25th of December.
I wonder what else happens on that day. So yeah I don't know. I was thinking of.
Here's what I was thinking. Whether I'll do it or not. I might have the 12 days of Christmas where I don't do any of the Christmas.
Talk about the year. So the first day I'll talk about January. The second day I'll talk about February.
And just talk about what's happened in my life and what's gone on in those months. And the last day I'll talk about December. The thing is.
What are the 12 days of Christmas? That's the question. 12 days of Christmas are celebrated from December 25th to January 5th. So what I would do.
I would start off on the 25th of December. And go to the 5th of January. What do you think? It's going to go 25th.
So it's one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. The fifth. What do you think of that? The idea of doing.
Like a. Summary like a Saturday summary but a summary of the whole month just looking back. On last year. On the last year of you know.
Two thousand and twenty five. Starting on the 25th of December. It'll still be like a Merry Christmas.
Beginning I'm not just going to get straight into it as I can never do do I. I will like chat about how. The beginning but then I will. Talk about.
The days I mean what we the months what we could do. You if there's a way that you can be interactive with those recordings. It might be interesting.
For you to send me in messages. That I can read out. Maybe.
Maybe maybe could be. This is just an idea just a little a little a little peek into possibilities. A possibility peek.
Hmm. Yeah. Anyway.
I'm gonna go. Gonna go to the toilet la la la la la. So thank you very much for listening.
Remember to be kind to yourself because you do deserve to be happy. And be gentle with yourself. You deserve to feel safe.
Lots of love. Bye.
