Hello. Hi. Hey up.

How you doing, lad? Hello, everybody. So, hello. So, thank you.

Hello. Thank you. And welcome to this Let Me Boy To Sleep recording.

Audio recording. My name is Jason Newland. My website is jasonnewland.com where all my recordings reside.

And today, where I stop the audio is Q&A Friday. Q&A, Q&A, Q&A Friday. So, today is Friday the 5th of June 2026.

So, hey, we are here again. Yes, we are. Yeah, we're here.

We're back. We're back. We're front.

We're everywhere. So, you can find my recordings on all all the main podcast hosts, such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, I don't know, somewhere. Where? Okay, I'll list you them.

I'll list them for you. Spotify, Jason Newland.com, Apple Core Media, Pocket Casts, Spreaker, iHeart Radio, Podcast Republic, iVoox, Antenapod, Amazon Music, VLC, iTunes, Alexa Media Player, and others. And others.

Yeah. So, yeah, I'm kind of everywhere. I've literally just had a little bit of a, not so much as sleep, but I sit back and listen to some classical music and just with Vinny cuddled up to me on the sofa and just a little bit of quiet time.

My mouth is slowly healing. Can you still feel it? I guess I'm gonna feel my mouth, but it's not quite healed yet, but it's getting there. I do upload all my recordings to YouTube, as well as every day I upload at least one recording to Instagram, X, and TikTok.

And I have a Facebook group called Jason Newland's Boring Group. That was boring, wasn't it? Did I tell you yesterday, I put an advert on Facebook. So I've had 1019 views.

I've reached 940 people. So I don't know how I've had so more views than I've reached, but I had 14 people have actually clicked the link to go to the website. And that's for the new Breaking Free from Control and Manipulation podcast that I've been working on.

So yeah, it's early days. YouTube. I got one.

What have I got? 1000. Yeah, YouTube. I got 1708 subscribers.

Yeah, so that's all right. It's just gradually going up. 3.3 thousand downloads the last 28 days.

1.4 thousand hours. So that's in the last 28 days. What about the last seven days? 1.1 thousand views the last seven days and 402.3 hours.

How many hours are in a week? 24. So let's say 25. 2525 that's 100.

2525 that's 100. 2525 that's 100. So that's 1, 2, 3, 125 all together.

Then you've got to take one. So 325 takes you to 320. 319.

Is that right? 319 hours in a week. 300. Oh, so I've got over, I got more hours, people listen to my YouTube, my recordings on YouTube, pretty much more than the hours there are in a week, which isn't bad considering.

I know I'm not getting like thousands and millions and millions of views and everything. But the difference with my views compared to, well, not just mine, but compared to a lot of, oh, that's weird. Recent update.

Uncle Sausage's update. 1,392. 1,392.

There was a 13th of July, 2025. And it says here 3rd of June, 2026. That's a bit weird, isn't it? It's very strange.

I don't know. I get confused. So if I look at the audience, let's have a look.

This is just for the last week. The audience is predominantly 25 to 34 year olds. Predominantly male, 76.3% male, 23.7% female.

18 to 24 year olds, 16.2%. 35 to 44 year olds, 20.3%. 45 to 54, 10.4%. That's interesting because, to me, because different apps, I get different audiences. So on YouTube, predominantly male. I mean, that's overwhelming, isn't it? Compared, but on TikTok, it's predominantly female.

And I don't, I can't get the figures for the podcasts themselves. So I don't know what the, what the figures are for that. So we've got here, audience by watched, watch behavior.

88%, 88% is new viewers. Regular is 5%. Casual viewers is 7%.

So why so many people watch the Uncle Sausages or listen to the Uncle Sausages recording? Maybe it's because it was a year ago. Maybe, I don't know. That's very, very, very strange.

Watch time from subscribers, 60.6% is subscribed. Non-subscribed is 39.4%. That's watch time. So not, not views.

Because otherwise that doesn't figure in with new viewers, does it? I should look into this, get a bit more information. I do have 5.5% with English subtitles. Why, why do I, am I that unclear when I talk? Oh, and another thing here, look, United States, this is just the last seven days, United States, 26% of the viewership or listenership to the YouTube.

India, 16.1%, United Kingdom, 3.7%, Germany, 2.5%. So it just shows you how it's kind of changes like compared to for like the podcast is USA and then UK. All right, so even for the last 90 days, United Kingdom, still 5.5%, United States, 25.2%, Ireland, 18.6%. 70% male, 29.9% female. So that's changed a little bit.

Let's have a look. New viewers, 88% is still the same there. And compare people that subscribe, 64% subscribed, not subscribed, 36%.

Now that's quite unusual for, I think, for a YouTube channel. Because I see it, or I've seen it loads of times on YouTube channels where they say that, you know, 50% of their viewers are not subscribed. And these are channels that have got millions of subscribers.

So yeah, it just shows you that I've got a loyal listener base, loyal listeners. There's not many, there's not many of them. But there's loyal ones.

They're loyal, they turn up, which I think is groovy, to be fair. Trends, overview. So yeah, so 90 days, three months, 9.8,000, 4,000 watch hours, 27 subscribers, which is really poor, isn't it? And I would have earned two cents.

If I'd have actually had it money on there. Oh, last for you. So what about if I go for the whole 365 days? So this is for, yeah, since the 5th of June last year, 36.3,000 YouTube views of the videos, 14.5,000 hours, 155 subscribers.

So low, isn't it? So low. And the most popular videos on YouTube to listen to, watch, whatever, extreme deep and confusing sleep at 2,266. Hypnosis for Bruxism, 1,088.

And the old video, Try and Stay Awake Hypnosis Challenge, 313. And then after that, yeah, different ones. And number 10, Uncle Sausage's update, Let Me Boy You To Sleep 1392, which was the 3rd of June last year, which is absolutely, that's bonkers.

It is bonkers because I'm going to have to have a the stats went up. I can't understand. Friday, the 5th of June.

But then it's, so 2.2,000 hours. 2.2, what? Watch time hours, 2.2. 2.2 hours. So that's not good, is it? If I released a video, 165 views, and I got 2.2 hours worth of watching, and the video lasts for an hour and 31 minutes.

Not really a successful video, is it? Not really. Let's have a look at the other one. Okay.

The one that got 2.3,000, extreme deep and confusing sleep, 475.6 hours. So, I mean, that's a lot more, isn't it? But even in real time, blimey, it's still getting listened to. In fact, someone's listening to it right now.

How weird. Not weird, but so two people listened to it last, in the last hour, or three in the last hour. Hour before that, between two and three, one person.

So the last 48 hours, 15 people have, well, that's been listened, watched 15 times, that one video. But then it's saying, average view duration, 12 minutes, 30 seconds. So I don't know if people have fallen asleep.

But it's 15%. Average percentage viewed, 15%. So, I don't know.

I'm not sure. I'm not sure, I don't know why I'm telling you all this. Why, anyone? Anybody? Anybody know why I'm doing what I'm doing? I've been wondering that for some while.

Well, Vinny had an upset stomach in the park this morning. He's been out since and he seems fine. Although he hasn't eaten his dinner, but he has had some dry food.

Perhaps that's the equivalent of just having some toast, you know, for him. But yeah, he proper, he was, he was like, on the way to the park, he sounded like he was, like choking. No, no, actually up here, he was sounding like, like he was kind of coughing or choking, not choking, choking, but like he had something that was irritating him.

But yeah, it's out. He left it on the park. So that was good.

And as soon as that happened, he kind of, he had a bit of energy. He stood there for a while, kind of just got some air, just let himself get back to normal. And now he's fine.

So that's good. So let's have a look. Jason Newland's boring group is where the questions are kept.

I just want to say thank you to Karen who wrote underneath. Okay. This is yesterday, underneath hypervigilance and anxiety from the break free and from control and manipulation podcast.

Karen says, Yes, and thank you. The whole series is very enlightening, and I am obsessed with it. Because I did ask question, is anyone listening to them? I mean, I know people are listening to them because I got the stats.

You know, me and stats always checking stats. So I know some people listening, but I suppose it is quite early kind of to be asking people for feedback. Considering I've only been doing it for a couple of weeks now.

So when was the first one? 7th of May. It's not a couple of weeks a month, isn't it? So I've only been doing them for a month and nearly a month since the 5th of June. So I'm thinking maybe it's going to take a while.

It's a bit early to be expecting anyone to give any feedback. But I do appreciate having you say that. So thank you, Karen.

It's just good to, I did another one today, isolation and losing yourself. So I've now done 16 I think. I don't know why I just feel quite pleased with what I've done with that.

Because it's been quite focused on my part. I've been quite focused. I've enjoyed the challenge of doing something very different from what I normally do.

But at the same time, not instead of. So, you know, I'm not just doing those recordings and putting off the Let Me Bore You To Sleep ones. I'm making sure I do both.

Because I know that would, some people like to listen to these boring Let Me Bore You To Sleep recordings. And I appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you very much.

So I've only got three questions today. So that's not going to take long. Well, I don't know how long it's going to take.

I'm not timing myself. I mean, technically I am timing. I'm not timing, but I can see how long I've been talking for in the recorders timing, but I'm not timing.

I've been watching Hello Ladies, a TV show with Stephen Merchant from The Office, you know, Stephen Merchant. And he, one of the creators of The Office, and he also starred in extras. So he, so he wrote his own sitcom.

I have seen it before, many years ago. So it's on HBO. So I've been watching that.

I'm up to episode six. And then I'm going to watch the movie because he did a movie. I don't know why I said that twice.

I'm going to watch the movie, but he didn't do a movie. Well, I won't watch it then. So yeah, that's what I've been doing the last couple of days.

Also started watching Spider Noir with Nicolas Cage as a kind of a version of a Spider-Man. It's yeah, it's, I'll finish that over the weekend, probably. I'm a little bit out of date with what's going on in the boxing world.

Because there was some boxing yesterday. Which was a weird day to have boxing. If you ask me, very strange, just what's going on.

But as far as what's happening this weekend, and Bill and Smith. Saturday, Saturday, June 6, I will won. What? Sky Sports.

Sky Sports main event, or Paramount. I don't want to watch. Paramount Plus, that's no good.

I mean, where is it at? Is it in the UK? It can't be in the UK. Because it's part of the Zuma, whatever thing, because on Paramount Plus. Paramount Plus, if you're in England, it doesn't give you the boxing.

I actually signed up for it in order to watch the boxing. Zupa, Zupa, Zupra. And there was like, it's supposed to be really good.

Basically, they have like the best, some of the best fighters in the world fighting each other. And I couldn't watch it anyway. And then there's, that's tomorrow.

Ringwalk 10pm, Europe, London. Right, I have to look into that. There's another one on Saturday, June 6 as well.

11am. This is for the Flyweight Championship, Yabuki. So, I don't know if that means it's in Japan.

If it is, and it's a fight Friday today. Vasquez against Lugo. Oh, that was the one that, oh, wait a minute.

Vasquez, I think that's the one that's already saved, so I can watch that later. That was early hours of the morning today. Saturday, the 6th of June, 2026.

It's at Bournemouth International Centre. And it's on Sky Sports. Why? Why though? Please tell me why.

So, I want to watch that. Because Billingsmith is a really, really good boxer. And Chris Billingsmith, he was, oh, I guess I won't.

Well, I don't know. I don't think I'll be watching that if I'm honest with you. I don't think I'm going to watch it.

This is no good to me being on Sky. Because it means I've got to pay like £15 or £13 or something. So, watch it.

Vasquez, I don't know. Vasquez against Lugo. That's on, in America, that's on Pro Box.

I wish everything was just on one place. I know that would be a monopoly. But I just, just, just, you know what I mean? Just, just keep everything in one place.

Please. Please. That's all I ask.

Sagasia against Maloney. And that's in Japan. Yabuki, June the 6th.

Yabuki against Calixto. Flyweight Championship IBF. But then if we go to Garcia.

See, why are they doing that? Garcia, Maloney is the main fight. Oh dear. And that's in Japan.

So, it would be Saturday morning. Tomorrow morning. At like 11 o'clock or something.

Oh, I'm okay. We're saved. And there's boxing on the zone.

So, the, oh, Garcia against Maloney. I don't know where that's going to be. Where is it? Is that the zone? But Padley against Fiaz is on the zone.

So, that's good. So, that's Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening rather.

And Tang's fighting as well. He's a heavyweight. A new heavyweight.

So, yeah. I'm okay with that. That's cool.

I'll watch that tomorrow evening. But I do need to find out where Garcia Maloney. Is it on the zone or is it not on the zone? Is it going to tell me? Please tell me.

Please tell me. Where can you read more? Read more. Garcia Maloney.

Maloney. Activity check. What time? Okay.

The fight's expected to walk to Rimwalk 11 a.m. Which is 7 a.m. But it's not telling. It's not saying when it's on. Like where it's on rather.

That's very, very strange. But from what I can see, that's the main box in this weekend. There might be, let's say if there's anything on Sunday morning.

Like in the UK that is. No. That's going to bug me now.

I know I should do this in my own time. But I'm not going to. I'm going to do it here.

Boxing schedule on the zone. Which is the app that I subscribe to. Right.

No, I want to see what's on. What are you doing? Why? What are you doing to this, to me for this? The, the schedule. That's what I wanted.

Didn't tell you there. Just took me to like sign up page. Right.

Boxing. So Padley weigh in today. So Padley tomorrow.

Right. It's not on. It's not on tomorrow.

The what's it? It's a shame. So 7pm Padley vs Fiaz is on. On the six tomorrow.

But the. Yep. That's a shame.

I love it when there's a bit of. Like a Japanese fight in the morning. Mind you.

If it's on. If it's on in the morning on Sky. And the other ones on Sky.

For the payment that will cover for the whole day. Not just one thing. Because it does it for the 24 hours.

Which means I could watch both boxing in the morning. Any evening. And then watch the boxing on the zone.

Like the next day. Sky boxing. Boxing.

Schedule. Nope. Nope.

Nope. Nope. The thing is.

Like Sky Sports is. Really. I'm not saying the quality is poor.

But the. They're not consistent anymore. Like they used to be.

Ever since Eddie Hearn. Went to the zone a few years back. There's hardly anything on Sky anymore.

When it comes to boxing. And. I think a lot of that is because maybe they just.

They're not willing to spend the money. On it. Which they used to.

I mean Sky was a place to go. I'm glad that it's not on Sky. I'm glad that the main fights are not on Sky anymore.

And they are on the zone. Because that suits me better with the whole kind of app. The way the app works.

But. Unless. Bum bum bum.

I'm going to. I'm going to research into that even more. So.

The first question I've got. Sorry I got so distracted. I'm normally so focused.

I was talking to someone actually in the park earlier. And they wondered why am I wearing a hat. Because it was raining.

It wasn't like sunny sunny. And I said well. Because of my eyes.

I'm trying to protect my eyes from the sunlight. So I've got you know. I've got the glasses which are actor.

Reactor light ones. But the sunlight shines through the top. I think I've said this a few times on here so.

Yeah I think I have haven't I. But then I've also said hello. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. Thousands of times.

So it's okay to mention my glasses isn't it. I think. But yeah I wear a hat.

Someone said why are you why are you dressing like that. I said it's summer. This and this lady she said.

She's got two dogs. It's very short. She said.

But it was summer last year. He didn't get dressed up. So I'm not really getting dressed up.

I'm just wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Besides last summer. I was kind of busy.

I wasn't you know. I don't they didn't see me. For most of the summer last year in the park.

Because I used to have to come out there in the morning early. And then come back in the evening and take him out after I'd been up to the hospital. So I wasn't as about as I am like normally.

Normally. And back then I only used to wear. My good clothes for when I went out.

Like out out. Off the estate away from here. And I got my normal clothes that got a certain bunch of clothes.

I wear when I take him out to park to the park. And I was seven pairs of these dark blue tracksuit bottoms. So it looks like I'm wearing the same clothes every day which I'm not.

But it's what it looks like. And I had these trainers. Which was supposed to be waterproof.

Or these shoes waterproof. I bought them on Amazon specifically because they were waterproof. And they weren't waterproof at all.

So I went through the whole winter getting wet feet. And I eventually managed to get some shoes this this week. And something I noticed is the heels very.

Not high. Cushy cushiony. And it seems to be.

Helping my back. When I'm walking like. Like the other shoes I felt like I was walking flat on the concrete.

This has given me some like I'm it's not like I feel like I'm walking on air. And it's nothing quite as poetic as that. But it does feel a little less jarring.

So I think I made the right decision. Yeah I did get the feeling I've spoken to a couple of my regular. Elderly people that I speak to and they all both seem to look at me like I was.

I don't know like is there something you want to tell us. Kind of look. But it's just clothes just.

I'm just embracing the summer. Why not how I mean. I had.

Two Hawaiian shirts last year. I've now got six Hawaiian shirts. So.

You know just. For summer. To be fair I was wearing them in the winter as well.

But only when I went out. Not in the winter winter but like. Spring autumn when it's still okay.

Or still warm enough to sort of wear a shirt. Yeah. And last year.

I got two pairs of tracksuit bonds that were. Different from the ones I got they're like better better ones. And again I only have ever worn them when I've gone when I've left.

The area. But now I've started wearing them when I go out. With him.

And because I've got two hats. Cheap hat how expensive only cheap things one white one with weeds. Well I don't think it's weeds on it I think it's something else but.

You know printed on it. But a bucket hat I think it's called. And a yellow bucket hat the yellow ones bigger.

But the white ones tighter. And. It's.

Ironic no no I won't say that but. It's it's kind of. Because it was windy.

I didn't feel like the white one was going to blow off at all. You know even now. The eight year old version inside me virgin version not virgin.

The eight year old inside me wants to laugh whenever I say the word blow off. Because it used to be a rude word. The eight year old inside you know what I mean when I say that.

The child in the the baby the the infantile. Immature it's not really well hidden though is it. I wonder if I'm the most immature 55 year old on the planet I might be.

I might be. Um. Oh yeah the yellow hat the yellow hat is a bit bigger so it's more comfortable.

Really. But it and it can kind of you can sort of change the size from inside. But I did feel like I had to turn my spider senses.

Up to kind of maximum because it's windy and I knew I'd have to have my reactions. To be very quick to catch the hat if it did blow off my head. So I'd have to really like be quick and that would be with my left hand.

Luckily it didn't happen but. I always kind of prepared you know. For that like quick movement and I love when that works as well.

When the quick reaction works. Because it looks so impressive. And it's happened a few times where I've been in public and something's fallen off the counter.

And I've just literally caught it without even breaking. Contact with the person I'm just talking to them and I just. But my hand automatically picked catches it.

And like yeah now that looked really good. I wish that had that on film so I could show my grandkids. And then I remember I don't have grandkids or kids.

I don't even have a girlfriend. Oh I saw this thing oh on TikTok. There is I think I quite.

It's not all the time. But it is seems to be daily that I go on to TikTok. And I just watch people reacting and just watch them talking.

And the interactions I find interesting human interactions. The responses I don't know is something. I guess I'm still trying to figure it out.

Human communication still trying to figure out. Really what's going on after all these years. And I know I'm never going to.

And it still interests me. As an observer as an audience member just watching and just. Really try not to get involved.

Occasionally I type stuff in but generally. I have to kind of think no because then someone's going to reply to that. And that's going to annoy me.

I did it the other day and someone said shut up. And just was typing in. Being a bit rude and I thought.

Wow you know. I can't remember the last time a human being told me to shut up. Like face to face.

I mean how often does anyone get told to shut up. It's really weird and having it in print. Like.

So yeah kind of I was about to sort of go into full. Typey typey mode but I just thought what's the point. What is the point.

And I was watching this person and someone said to her. She kind of reminded me of someone. So I was like watched I watched a little bit yesterday.

Just happened to be in the first few people on there. And she said someone said have you. About a relationship said yep I have.

I'm in a relationship. And then today same person same time as well. I just happened to be doing something on the computer so.

And someone asked her if you've got a boyfriend. She said no. And I'm thinking okay so you said.

You said something completely different from yesterday. Now you might think why would I remember that about someone I've only seen twice. I literally have only seen her twice for a few minutes.

A few hours maybe but. If someone contradicts themselves I remember. So it's.

I don't know for example someone says oh I was. Uh this happened and. A taxi driver pulled up and it was a red car and I got in the red car and drove off in it.

And then right I got interrupted by Vinnie barking at something. I don't know what it was. I tried to look on the camera but.

I think the camera needs recharging. I'll do that tomorrow during the day. Um um um um yes so if that person says a year later I was like oh and I got into the.

And it was a it was let's say it was a story about a watch and a parachute and a penguin. I don't know whatever. So I'm like.

I got into the cab it was a blue cab. Straight away I don't know why but that connection like. You said it was a red cab.

Last time. And I don't know why but I just remember. But if you this said to me tell me details about that story that I told you a year ago.

That involved me waiting outside the dentist. And um whatever I'd like. I don't know you're waiting outside a dentist.

What's to remember? But if you start telling me the story and you make it different from the previous story. It just shouts out to me. I don't know why that happens.

Inconsistency maybe incongruity. Plain lying. I don't know what you want to call it.

But I like all those things. I like doing all those things. But no I don't know.

I don't know why. I don't know. A weird quirk.

But it's not much use to me really. Because all it does is it can cause an argument. You know if I say wait a minute you said something different last time.

No I didn't. Yes you did. No I didn't.

There's a pointless conversation. Really. So Nicole asks me.

If someone followed you around for a week what would surprise them the most? The amount of times I urinate probably. I think they'd be surprised at how. They'd probably be surprised at how paranoid I react.

They'll sort of be surprised at how easily I can hide. I would escape. I don't want to be followed around.

What would they notice they followed me around for a week? I'd do I'd pretty much do the same thing. Very regimented. Regimenteded whatever it is.

Not because I have to be. And because I've just got a routine. And there's certain things.

Like I look forward to getting out of bed in the morning. Which is a very weird thing probably. But it's a weird thing for me to say because I never used to be like that.

I like getting up. And I like being up. And I like the idea of.

Well I like checking the stats and it's always nice to you know get going and making a recording. But I couldn't do it this morning when I first woke up I was too tired. And I checked the stats and I kind of fell asleep at the desk.

Even though I'd had like seven hours I just was extra tired for whatever reason. So I had my breakfast. Watched a little bit of TV.

But then at half seven I made a recording. So it was still all done by nine o'clock. And well not all done but I'd done a recording.

And done most of the work. Because the recording lasted about half hour I think. Let me see how long did it last about 20 minutes.

So if I do remember correctly. All 24 minutes 37 seconds for the basic one. Which is one of the shortest ones so far.

But they're all around the half hour mark on them ones. And I know that once I've done a recording. Especially when it comes to doing like a hypnosis recording.

It has to be I have to have it to be as quiet as possible. So the best time to do it is early in the morning or late at night. And I'm not awake late at night.

I'm in bed nine ten depending on you know the day. But I'm in bed by ten generally every day apart from Saturday night if there's boxing on. Because sometimes the actual headline act or the headline the main boxing match.

Doesn't even start till half ten. So it's or eleven sometimes. So it's it's quite difficult to stay awake to be honest.

But there you go. There you go. Sometimes I do actually go to bed and watch the boxing in the morning.

But it's not the same. It's really not the same. Yes it's not it's not the same as being live.

I mean watching the Fabio Wardley fight a few weeks ago. The fact that it was live and it's almost like anything happened. But if you watch it on repeat.

Or it's saved and I watch it. However strange it might sound. It's almost like.

It's not a case of I'm going to watch it. if anything can happen because it's done the fight was last night and there's a result and it's kind of like I can't I think there's still a part of me thinks I can affect the fight by watching it live which is yeah it's just part of my brain I guess so obviously I can't affect it if it's on repeat and if it's already occurred is I guess it's just a you know I used to think I could change anyway it doesn't matter I'm not going to my mental defects just if I if I wish and shout enough Fabio would have won that fight what would surprise you probably how messy I am maybe I'm quite messy you might be surprised at how friendly I am you might be surprised surprised you might be surprised at I get on quite well with the other dog walkers generally although there seems to be less around recently I think sometimes when there's because a couple yeah there's a couple of dogs that all the little dogs bark at so I think they kind of some of the people the little dogs take their dogs elsewhere and some of the big dogs and also in this weather because we've got fields people walk around the fields when it's nicer weather I still stay into the park because people let their dogs off the lead in the fields and just I can't I can't trust Vinny I can't let him off the lead anywhere but just right you know rather kind of see what's about so yeah I used to like to take Andre in the fields I mean if I do take if I took Vinny in the fields it'd be during the day on a weekday when there's no one much around I wouldn't do it at weekends because there's a lot of people around at the weekend but what would you surprise them what would price even though I do call this podcast let me bore you to sleep and I talk about being boring I think it would still surprise someone if they followed me around just how boring my life actually really is it really is very boring and you know on a I make recordings I edit the recordings and all the stuff that goes in with that when I'm not doing that I'm working on the website very time-consuming very time-consuming and then then I'm eating I'm taking Vinny out three times a day at least usually I normally have a couple of naps during the day I would say power naps but it's more just I've had something to eat and now I'm gonna sit there for an hour watch a bit of TV or box set watch a couple of episodes or something yeah it's just it is quite boring for me as well I mean I'm okay if I've done something see I'm okay to go to bed at 9 o'clock or 10 o'clock clock 10 o'clock providing I've actually accomplished something and and for me accomplishing something would be making a recording or two recordings so this is the second one of the day the first one was blimey was it five six ten hours ago I did the last one so it's nice I feel like I've accomplished something so the day has been worthwhile I've not just wasted the whole day because even if I made two recordings did all the stuff uploaded them and everything like that and spent the rest of the day watching television I still accomplished something but if I stayed just sat there all day watching TV and I didn't do anything for the day I don't always feel particularly great about that sometimes I have to do it there's nothing really else I can do or I go to bed but I prefer to have done something to have contributed in some some way to helping people in some way so yeah I think people just think be surprised if they followed me around it maybe the fact that I sing when I'm on my own when I'm in public when I'm in the park and there's no one else around I will sing or talk talk to myself or talk to Vinnie yeah I do make some weird sounds sometimes I can't think it's weird I'm just trying to think what else it might surprise you that occasionally I pass wind to the odd fart very occasionally you know a couple of times a year probably considering how fat I am I don't eat much not really I just don't eat the right things so if I eat salad I could eat salad all day long and lose weight we literally just eat and eat and eat and eat salad and because it's just basically water isn't it water and fiber but I don't I do still eat cakes yes I need to I haven't had any chocolate though it was weird something about having my tooth my mouth problem I've had no chocolate pretty much for the whole month there's a part of my brain seems to think that chocolates the only thing that can affect teeth when it's not about the chocolate is it's about the sugar and whatever else so you know in my brain it's okay to eat cakes even if they've got canary sugar on top of them or whatever a granary is it granary or canary but that's okay so crunching up sugar on a cakes fine but not putting in my tea is yes I think I might need to educate myself on nutrition possibly I mean there was a time in my 20s maybe 30s as well maybe even 40s I used to take vitamins regularly like proper regularly even not just then even in my teens my late teens because I was a bodybuilder except I didn't put any weight on I was like the the worst bodybuilder in the world I literally I would eat and eat and eat and do everything when I was 15 I was taking all these tablets the you know just basically vitamins but then there was kelp and alfalfa apparently that was supposed to be good for building muscle I was drinking loads of milk I was having omelets I was even eating raw eggs and I went to the gym I was working out nothing nothing happened it's like my body refused to budge it's like no you're gonna be skinny forever and I was like what why why because I was really and I had all these vitamins I really put a lot of effort into it and I was eating trying to eat healthy and everything because I was working in a chip shop and I could have eaten just sausages and burgers all the time which is what I ended up doing anyway what burger I tell you what the burgers in the chip shop were better than McDonald's burgers they were although I did prefer McDonald's burgers at the time because McDonald's burgers were something like new it's a new thing you know it was very new when I was a kid and when I left school I did go to McDonald's for the very first time on a history trip not history trip religious education trip to London and so as a coach trip and we all went to went to different religious places as a mosque there is I don't know there's a definitely most of the Catholic Church I think there was Sikh and Hindu places and maybe oh what's it a synagogue and then we went to a Buddhist place I'm not sure if we went to all those different places but we definitely went to a synagogue definitely went to a mosque went to a Catholic place and we went to a Buddhist Center and to be fair this was in East London so probably could do the whole lot in one road and we went and had they dropped us off and I remember I remember it blimey and I was just following everyone else because I had no idea and I didn't know my way around London because I was living in a little town at this point even though I was born in London and I'd end up going back to London although I did go to London when I was about 14 my dad I think my dad me my first stepmom and my little brother went up to London and he took me to a martial arts shop and bought me some trousers like Bruce Lee wore in End of the Dragon and possibly some nunchucks or some throwing stars something like that so that was really cool never been in a place like that before right yeah so we went to McDonald's I didn't have no money to get a burger I think my friend gave me lent me some money to get a milkshake which back then would have been for 50 pence or something and I was like oh and I don't think it was that I didn't have any money I just forgot to bring anything with me because back then I would have had my paper around so I would have had you know a little bit of cash available mind you I was spending most of my money on karate so I might not have had any spare money I don't know because I had my I think I had an early morning paper around I'm not sure I had money coming from somewhere otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do it and I was buying all the equipment as well weights gym punch bag all the equipment for karate the pads plus you know paying to go as well so yeah I must have had some money coming in from somewhere one of my paper rounds yeah I think it was a morning one anyway yeah that was the first time going to McDonald's and I had a milkshake well they used to call them thick shakes back then and I think it was banana but it might have been strawberry and it was sublime it was absolutely wonderful I very much enjoyed it or if I was in my 70s I would say it was superb because I don't think I'm allowed to say superb until I get to 70 it was superb yes superb so I I really loved it and then it wasn't till I was 16 that I got a chance to actually start going to a McDonald's and buying burgers because I had one day a week I was at college doing catering it was a chef chef and waiting course sitting in guilds or I don't know what it was but I did that for a year and then left it was supposed to be a two year course and sometimes me and my friend Neil because he was on the same course as me I don't think he was was he on my course he was was he on he was at college as well but I don't know if he was on the exact same course he might have been doing I think he might have been on a different course but we'd just skive off so we just hang around the shopping center and talk about chatting up girls never actually doing it but talking about it talking about how good it would be to chat up girls but then not doing it yeah that's what we did it's quite weird when I think about Neil because pretty much he was the only friend that stayed friends with me after I left school like my bestest friend Dean who I was friends best friends with from the age of nine all the way I'm gonna say to the age of 14 because we did fall out we were still friends but the last year of school we weren't as close you know and so but for most of that time we were almost inseparable and then I was friends with Dean as well not Dean with Neil so the three of us used to hang out sometimes and so when I left school I was working in a chip shop pretty much anyone that I went to school with probably saw me in there some people would come and say hello some people would come and knock on the window and do a rude sign you know laughing at me like I was a monkey in a zoo and sometimes people would just come in and get something to eat you know because they're just a chip shop they wanted some chips so you know I kind of I lost track with people so 1986 I did I became friends with someone that I wasn't friends with at school two people one was in the same year as me and he lived literally just up the road from a chip shop and we just became friends but we weren't friends we knew each other we knew who each other was but we weren't friends and then we became friends became quite good friends and used to go out drinking and stuff when I was 16 and then there was another I can't even remember his name Steve he was in the year older than me and me and him weren't friends at school in fact he tried to start a fight with me at one point and a couple of years earlier but then we hit it off once we left school we hit it off we didn't really know each other we just knew of each other didn't and like but then that kind of came to an end the other one came to an end I won't go into that but that was things got out of hand with the drinking and with certain things so but Neil was the only one that stuck around I mean literally he when I left school I was living so he used to come to my house in the family home as did Dean but then Dean stopped coming around really but Neil okay me and Dean had a had a punch-up that's what happened there me and Dean and I didn't want to be just he wanted to and he pushed me and whatever so I don't think you ever kind of we didn't recover from that but Neil he kind of it didn't replace him but he just it's kind of he was more he wanted to have fun but Dean was very career orientated it's very had a very good head on his shoulders I'm not saying Neil didn't I'm just saying Dean knew what he wanted to do he wanted to be a chef and he I think he wants to own his whole restaurant or whatever but he knew what he wanted and he's a good bloke he was a good bloke then and he's still a good bloke you can't I don't think it's possible for him not to be a good bloke the same with Neil I'm sure they're both hopefully both happy I know they're both old blimey 56 probably everyone was older than me back then and but I remember Neil used to come to see me when I moved out into my step Nens living room Neil used to knock on the door and come and see me and we'd go out and then when I moved into the flat above the chip shop Neil used to come and see me there in fact his parents gave me cutlery and plates and stuff and some bits and pobs a toast or whatever for the flat and I remember the first weekend me living there was Easter and he came around on a good Friday and we had hot cross buns and a cup of tea so yeah it was I think that was before the furniture was even put in so and then I'd still hang around with him but because I was living in rooms he didn't come around he used to come visit if I had somewhere that we could sit and chat you know I mean be in but I never invited anyone into my room generally if I was just renting a room in a house but then I stayed with my dad and he used to visit there so whenever I was somewhere where there was like a house or something he would visit and it's really weird because he went from being yeah it went from us being at school and I was a pedestrian on a bike whatever to him to us both getting the buses to town to the next town to go to college to us both going and getting tattoos together to him getting a motorbike or a moped working on the docks when I got a job working on the docks and he would give me advice on what to do to him getting himself a car and me driving around or him driving around the car with me in it and yeah it's really weird because I've got these you know Patrick Swayze the she's like the wind through my ears whatever that song I think it was the album actually I had the time of my life so it's the Dirty Dancing album I think he was listening to and just like anything if I listened to it enough times I really kind of just started liking it especially Patrick Swayze song love that song so we were watching you know I still do actually and then I was gonna move to London well I moved to London that's I told him I was moving and I visited him probably a year in or six months in or whatever and he said that he was going to Europe he was going to travel around Europe and he wanted me to go with him and I said no because I had my own plans you know I wanted to do comedy and be in London and going traveling wasn't on that list of things to do I kind of think maybe it would have been good if I had have done but you know it's done now isn't it and I never saw him again I did visit his mom once went around in 96 to see how he was and I think he was married I think he might have had a kid in France and that's the last time I had any contact with any of them it's weird because I had a friend this this girl this is when I was 19 I was living yeah I was living this little town and I met her this before I moved to London in to in 1990 so this is 1989 no 91 this is 1990 I moved in 91 January and I met her in ice cream an ice cream shop she's called Chaney and I knew her brother and I got on really well with her brother and stuff I really liked her really liked her but she didn't she liked me as a friend she had no interest outside of just being friends but I really liked her and even to the point of bearing in mind I left in 91 January summer 1992 I took her to my dad's wedding so I was still in contact still visited her still trying to woo her woo tang her I don't know what you want to call it but yeah just wasn't and then she got pregnant and had a baby and stuff and I still didn't care still liked her but yeah she actually wrote in one of my journals and I think it was a little bit of a hint I think you know it might have needed to read between the lines but she basically wrote I like you as a friend that's what she wrote down so I think she was trying to tell me something yeah so Nicole I think if someone followed me around for a week what was surprised most that is how boring my life is generally yeah I don't feel I don't do anything particularly wild I'm not a wild and crazy guy I will not not wild anyway Karen asks me if money was not a concern where would you live and why I still quite like the idea of traveling traveling around visiting places having something to talk about that would be nice and I know that these boring podcasts and you know they're supposed to be boring but I think I can make anything boring if I tried I'd like to travel if I could yeah I'd like to travel go on cruises and I don't know if I want to settle down in one place I think I'd like to travel around until I find somewhere that I just fall in love with and I think oh this is somewhere that I want to yeah I like this place I mean in a way an ideal situation would be for me potentially just to stay here and then go traveling or at least travel the UK with Vinny travel around stay in dog-friendly hotels and visit places and you know maybe meet people with people that listen to the recordings maybe do the odd Q&A get-together kind of thing in a room above a pub or something so for this I went to Sunderland or I went to Glasgow or something maybe if there was a handful of people do something like that like a UK tour and there's got to be at least at least 30 people in the UK that listen to me regularly so just spread that around 30 people yeah not sure how that would work actually thinking about it I quite like the idea of maybe living in Thailand perhaps going back there and yeah I mean it's a Buddhist country it's a it's a beautiful place the people very friendly I'm generalizing but from my experience this it really is a case of not just you get treated how you treat you get treated how you treat them but they're nice to you first and they expect you to be nice like they're not expecting expecting positivity so it's a very and they look out for each other and I like that but I'm generalizing because you know I don't know what it's like everywhere but there's places I haven't been I've not been to Germany I've not been to Russia I've not been to China I've not been to Australia or New Zealand or America blimey I've not been to America or Canada I've not been to any like the Latin countries I've been to very very small amount of places so I think cruise even if it's like one week out of a month go on a cruise so okay this this month I'm gonna do a cruise around that part of Europe and then the next month I'll do a cruise around that part and I don't know just find a way around doing it and yeah just just I don't know I have to look into it and what I could do but the main thing is that I make my podcasts so as long as I've got my laptop and my iPad and my microphone that equipment and internet so this equipments one bag in itself so I have to be careful you know transporting this stuff around so I have to get a special bag for that but generally there's not really a lot needed and then I can depending on the sound I mean I don't know how quiet a cruise would be as far as making recordings but then as we're going forward the the technology is getting so good I don't think it'd be long before you can just pop something in your ear and you can record I'll be able to record a podcast and it will filter out any background sound you know I don't think we're far from that and I'll be able to do it walking down a street with wind and rain and do you know I mean so not necessarily want to walk around the street in wind and rain because when I'm doing that I don't think oh no I'll do I'll make a podcast it's a hurricane outside it's podcast season no yeah if I was gonna settle down maybe Thailand but then there's the temperature I don't know maybe just live here and travel that sounds like it might be a worthwhile way of living hmm or go and live somewhere nice because I just I think you know visually there's some beautiful places on the planet that are visually stunning this isn't one of them where I live it's not one of them I could literally be anywhere in the UK right now I know not everywhere in the UK is the same but I could be anywhere like in this country pretty much and well not even that there are some nice places like lakes and stuff but there's just nothing here where I am there's no it's not scenically not a scenically wonderful place to live but then you think about other places other countries with waterfalls imagine wake waking up and pulling your curtains and seeing a big waterfall the closer you're gonna get here is if you have a leak in your ceiling or in the guttering or overlooking I don't know mountains and I mean I know in Thailand I couldn't believe some of the things I was hearing like those forests or whatever jungles it's like wow I was hearing honestly I've never heard before sounds very interesting and the smells as well very interesting smells it's a different energy very different from here it's it doesn't even feel the same maybe it's just another place I'd get used to you know that's possibility that it was just because I remember when I moved here this was all new and like you know living here was new and it felt weird now it feels normal because I've been there 11 years so but if I did go to Thailand it would be to retire it would be literally to for my final period of my time so I don't know how well that would go hell you know I don't know I'd like to travel I think that's my final answer on that one I'd like to travel around Thank You Karen so Nicole and Karen thank you Ali asks what is the longest you think you've gone without speaking and do you like popcorn isn't it it almost feels like those two questions should go together but obviously they don't do they hello how long have I gone without speaking oh and do you like popcorn and like two very different questions but the way you just they just slide off my tongue not the popcorn I like pop I'll do the popcorn first I do but I've got to be careful because I like the toffee popcorn I do find that it gets stuck in my teeth and as a habit of I think they called the filling remover popcorn so not necessarily great for my teeth I used to love popcorn never really into the salt popcorn salt not really into salted anything apart from crisps Walker's crisps ready salted I like them but salted popcorn yeah I'm going to sweet yeah my teeth could tell you that definitely got bit I've had a bit of a sweet tooth over the years what is the longest that I've gone without speaking probably when I was in my mummy's tummy that's a very difficult question to answer there was a period I've mentioned this before when I had to take a holiday from a job but I didn't have any money to eat and all I had was for from the Sunday or the Monday to the Friday I had one jar of jam and a packet of cream crackers and tap water and that's all I had for those four days so Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and then Friday morning I could go and get his food so I got paid I didn't leave my room or my fire did like a studio apartment I didn't leave there for four days and I didn't talk to him for four days however it's hard to say because since 2006 I've been making recordings where I'm guessing you class this as speaking but it is speaking isn't it I mean you you know you weren't specific about speaking to another person in the room so I've hardly gone anytime at all since 2006 without speaking like during the day when I was sleep probably I don't don't speak too much yeah but there has been times when I've just been on my own for a few days you know and I've not spoken to anyone but then you know when I had Andre and with Vinny I speak to him I speak to Andre there's no way I would go the whole day without saying anything to Vinny even if we didn't go out I still say good morning ask him how he is and all that stuff I'm just trying to think the longest time without speaking yeah so it has to be pre 2006 2005 I was working 2004 work 2003 worked in a call center in 2001 so I was doing a lot of talking then 2099 98 97 actually when I did security I'd be on my own for 12-hour shifts but I would sing and I probably would talk to myself and maybe make phone calls and that when I was at school I would sit during the lesson and not say anything quite often because I just I was bored so I'd sit at the back of the class if I could and just sit there looking out the window looking at the clock I'm watching the time going backwards honestly is so so slow going back in time no I can't think of any can't think of a time the longest I've gone without speaking probably like when I'm asleep I feel like this there's an obvious answer to that maybe the nine months I was in there or eight months I was in there me mama's mama's tum-tum up her oh Vinnie you alright mate yeah I can't think of anything no sorry sorry sorry I feel like just let you let you down I feel such a disappointment no I can't think of anything can't think of a specific time oh yes I can I did a retreat it's a weekend retreat and it was a silent weekend retreat so no talking for the whole weekend I think we were allowed to talk for an hour just to discuss how we were feeling and stuff but other than that the whole weekend from the Friday night all the way through to the Sunday afternoon was silent including at night including eating everything's silent so that's probably the time I went without sleep without talking which would have been 2005 probably was the last time I did anything like that thanks Vinnie can you flap your ears a bit please oh you did okay I didn't notice yeah so it'd be the silent meditation retreat over 20 years ago I am quite comfortable being quiet I can sit here and just say nothing the thing is I am depending on my mood I'm fairly I can be fairly chatty at times hmm so that is all the questions answered thank you I'm not sure if I answered them anywhere very well or whatever but I did my bestest so thank you Nicole Karen and Ali for your questions and thank you everybody for listening and that is the end of this recording so please remember to be kind to yourself because you do deserve to be happy and be gentle with yourself you deserve to feel safe lots of love bye
