Hello and welcome to Jason Newland.com and Vinnie um making these cute little noises. So my name is Jason Newland, welcome to Let Me Boy To Sleep. Please, please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.
Today is Tuesday the 2nd of June 2026. 16 minutes past four in the afternoon. A lot of is that is that information relevant? I don't know.
There you go. It is trivia Tuesday today. So I'm going to do a trivia Tuesday.
But I don't know what subject matter to focus on. So I'm going to have a little look to see whether or not last week I looked up some ideas. I did I don't know what it's what date what it doesn't give me the date when I did that.
So just to let you know I do have a YouTube channel which you can find all my recordings on. All six versions are uploaded to YouTube every day every time I do a recording. I also upload every day to X Instagram and TikTok.
Just search for my name you'll find me. And I have a Facebook group called Jason Newland's Boring Group. And now, now now now now now now.
My website, I've only just got one website now so I've got rid of the okay, technically I haven't but the Jason Newland dot store will be coming to an end I think tomorrow. But my new my website Jason Newland dot com is the store. If that does that make sense? So when you click on it, you'll see the latest recordings.
Then below that you'll see bulk downloads. I've only got the Let Me Boy To Sleep ones at the moment but I've got up to 50 downloads that you can download all at once. And then below that I've got individual recordings for the Let Me Boy To Sleep.
That's all up to date. There's still quite a bit to do on the website. I've been working on it all day.
Getting up to date with some of the other stuff I do because I know not not everybody goes to my website because of the Let Me Boy To Sleep. Some people want to listen to the other stuff as well that I do like the sleep hypnosis or the breaking free from control and manipulation. You know those kinds the newest stuff maybe that I've been doing.
Talking as such, let's have a look. Oh, I've still. So I've got how many have I done now? How many? So I did another one today.
I did silent treatment and emotional punishment. So I think I've done one like every day this week. I didn't set out to do that.
By the way, Vinny's given herself a bed bath in case you're wondering what all the slurping is. Slurping. That's a word isn't it? Slurping.
You have a proper meal there. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. Did I get that right? I laughed.
I made myself laugh for some reason halfway through. So one. Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.
So it's 14. 14 different recordings. And the first one I did was on the 7th of May.
So 14 recordings. Now I'm not getting many people actually listening on the specific podcast itself, which is called Breaking Free from Control and Manipulation. So it's available on all the main podcasts.
So it's not really being discovered by people yet. But I am getting listens on hypnosis for sleeping deeply. So when I yeah, so I'll upload them to there.
And sleep hypnosis and all that stuff because that's that's one of my main podcast is hypnosis of sleeping deeply. And if I look for the last seven days, the last seven days, what have I got? Right. The third most popular or the first most listened to recording was People, Pleasing and Fear.
Last seven days. Six most listened to was the Confused Mind after Manipulation. And then another one.
So there was like one, one, two, three, four, five, six. So three out of the top 10. I've been there about seven, six out of the top 10.
Six, seven, I don't know. Anyway, people are listening to them. Listening to them.
I've not got any feedback yet, though. Whether or not they're useful. I'm hoping to get some feedback.
Also, just to let you know, it's Q&A Friday this week. So if you do have any questions, please ask me a question for Q&A Friday. You can go to Jason Newland's boring group on Facebook and ask a question there.
Or you can pretty much ask a question anywhere, really. On YouTube, anywhere, and I'll just add it to the questions. Yep.
So let's have a quick look to see if I've got any other other things on here to look at. So I suppose the main thing really, the main thing really is I've been working on the website. Today, once I've done the updated the Let Me Boy To Sleep ones, I started focusing on the Sleep Hypnosis podcast.
And I've got, how many have I got? 35 uploaded there. There's more than 35 to upload. But what I'm doing is going through them and uploading all six versions of each recording.
The same as with the Let Me Boy To Sleep podcast. So if you download, it's not all done yet. But generally, from now on, if you download any of the latest recordings, there will be six versions that you'll be downloading.
Right. I don't think there's anything else to say. I'm sure there was something I wanted to talk about.
But can you remember? So if anyone's got any feedback from the new podcast I was talking about, I'd be grateful to hear it. Because I've put a fair bit of work into it. And I'm just interested to find out if it's useful to anyone.
And that's it really. So Jason Newland.com, which has been my website for 20 odd years. So it's still my website.
It's my only website. And from now on, it's just going to be the only website. I'm going to start to settle down, stop making changes.
I'll work on that website and make it a little bit better. But as I said, you can listen, you can stream any of the latest recordings. And there's literally, there's a playlist like there, there's an embedded playlist with 19,464 hours and 31 minutes worth of streaming time.
Each is quite a lot, I do believe. And I don't know how long that would take to listen to all those recordings. Should we find out? Come on.
You know how I like to delve into pointless stuff. 19464 divided by 24. 811 days.
So three, six, three, three and a half years, two and a half years. If you divide that by 365. So two, 2.2 years, two years and two months.
It'd take if you listen to all the recordings, back to back. That's quite a lot, isn't it? Yeah, it's too much. So Trivia Tuesday.
I'm trying to think if there's anything I've got a hat. I've got a yellow hat, which because enough I told you, because I've got my glasses. Thank you, Brooke.
I got my glasses. And also thank you for those of you to help me to kind of pay for the taxes to get back and forth. And also the dentist and all that stuff.
Blimey. It's still hurting. Honestly, even now it's like been weeks.
It's one of those things, the amount of people that always like, yeah, well, I mean, I had my wisdom tooth out and it was hurting for months. Like, come on. How's that helping? How is that helping me? So with the glasses, I mean, it's good to have glasses that I can see through.
And I realised that the, I was blaming my other glasses for my eyesight when actually it's my eyesight, not the glasses. And there's only so much they can do with glasses when it comes to eyes, I think, you know, so my eyesight has deteriorated over the years. And I've got the lenses go dark when I'm outside, which is nice because I have to protect my eyes now from sunlight.
However, the sun shines down the front or down the top into my eyes. So I'm squinting because I'm not really able to see stuff. I have to put my hand, it's like I'm saluting a penguin or something.
You just, and so I thought, you know, I'll get myself a hat. So I did, got myself a hat and it's done the trick. I can now walk around and not have to squint at all.
I can just have my eyes open. I mean, I had my eyes open before, otherwise I'd be banging into things, wouldn't I? I had my eyes open, but it feels like I'm almost like I'm indoors. It's my eyes just like normally just looking around.
This is, I don't know how to explain this. It's quite nice. It feels quite freeing.
So other than that, I don't have, I woke up this morning, so I went to bed about 10 o'clock last night. I made two recordings yesterday. Let me see what I did yesterday.
We don't need to know what they were, but I want to tell you, I'd like to include you in it. You know, this is a journey we're all going on. Oh yeah, too.
First of June. So I did a breaking free from control and manipulation. So I did guilt used as control.
And then I did Monday sleepy boring objects in the afternoon slash evening. So I did that yesterday. This morning, I woke up.
And I didn't want to do anything. I didn't like, normally, I'll make a recording. I say normally, but recently the last week or two.
I'll get up, do a wee wee, take my acid reflux tablet. Just check the stats quickly. And then I'll make a podcast, you know, I'll make a recording, a hypnosis recording, because that's the quietest time of the day.
It's early, not early hours, but kind of sort of maybe five in the morning or something, depending on what time I get up. So what I've been doing recently is making a recording. And then when I finished the recording, I left my breakfast.
And it's a lovely start to the day, because I feel like I've accomplished something. I've actually contributed something to the world in my own little way. So it is a good start, you know, so I'll have my breakfast at night.
Then I'll come back, I'll have a usually listen to some music or something, have a little doze. Maybe listen to one of my recordings. And then I'll come back and between eight and nine, roughly, I'll do all the editing for the recording, maybe half seven to nine.
Upload everything, get the image done. And with uploading to, because it's not just it's uploading to not just the podcast itself. But also, I have to then download it and then upload it to SoundCloud.
And then I also have to upload it to my website. So that's a good hour and a half, maybe hour three quarters to two hours with the whole process now. So it's added on a bit of time for that.
And then I'll take the Vin Man, the Vinnie, the Vinnie Minnelli out. Out. I just heard some thunder.
Wow. I don't know, I've been hearing some banging like all day really. Started quite early, about half eight.
But I didn't really know where it was coming from. Hmm. Anyway, I think I just heard some thunder.
It was raining earlier. A little bit. I mean, it had been raining.
So when I went out at nine ish, the grass is wet. But I had my hat on. I just realized that those two sentences don't really fit together today.
The grass was wet and I had my hat on. What possible connection is there between the grass being wet and me wearing my hat? I don't know. I mean, I didn't really notice the rain.
I just was wearing a shirt, walking around like normal. I said I ain't gonna wear my jacket. Not gonna wear a coat or anything.
If I get wet, I get wet. I just come back and get changed. Because it's not cold out there.
But in reality, if it was raining really hard, I probably would need to wear my coat, wouldn't I? Because going out without a coat, probably not the best idea in the world. I don't know. I've not really given it much thought.
But I had my hat on. I just wanted to talk about my hat, really. I've got a yellow hat.
I've got two. I've got a white hat with what looks like weeds on it in black. And I've got a yellow hat, same type.
But the yellow hat's a bit bigger. It's not quite so tight on me old head. And I'm just looking, you know, future, the future weeks and months to sort of get a few different hats and stuff.
And I think I'm going to be wearing a hat all year round now. Just to keep the sunlight from my eyes. So it should help me.
It should help to protect my eyes going forward. So yeah, I won't be wearing a summer hat in the winter though. I think I'll wear, I think maybe a Peaky Blinders hat.
I don't know if that means I have to walk around with a kestrel on my shoulder. I don't know. Who knows? I don't know.
But I do like flat caps. I don't know why. In fact, I used to have one.
I used to have a leather flat cap in 1991. And I used to walk around with it on. And leather fingerless gloves.
I'd walk around in the summer and everything all year round. I'd walk around with these this. It was my persona.
What was my attempted persona at the time? I don't know what it was supposed to be. But honestly, I don't know. Maybe I wanted to be a bit like Rocky, you know, from the movies or Andrew Dice Clay.
So just trying to think what trivia ideas have I got? See, there's a list that's been brought up here. Some of them are a bit weird. The history of chairs, things left in taxis.
I'm sorry, I have to go on to that one. I just that that one's um. Yep.
Yeah, that jumped out of the page at me. So I don't know if this is true. Okay.
I don't know if it's true. It might be made up. I've asked chat GPT for, you know, finding me 100 weird things left in taxis.
But they might, some of it might be false. So I've said this before, but it's important, actually. Because some people will get into an absolute rage of an argument, digging their heels in about something that's completely pointless and irrelevant, but won't back down because they know what the truth is.
And the other person may be this of the same ilk. I like that word. That's my favorite word today, ilk.
And neither of them back down and it can get messy. And it's an argument over nothing. Absolutely.
So don't use anything that I tell you in an argument. You know, because honestly, it might just be might not be true at all. And I'm not going to fact check it because I don't care if it's true or not.
So I mean, partly, I just want to be entertained myself just as just, you know, I thought it'd be quite amusing, mildly amusing. So if those don't know what a taxi is, a taxi is it's like a having a chauffeur driving you around, but you don't own the car. And you don't pay the chauffeur, you don't employ the chauffeur.
But it's a self employed person, usually. And they own their own car. And then I mean, there's different types.
And they're called taxis. I don't really know where that probably comes in the some Greek word. And I think the original taxis would have been a horse and car, I suppose.
But the I mean, in England, I think in America, or in New York, I think they have the yellow taxis. In London, we have the black cabs, which are basically just black cabs. And the driver the taxi drivers had to do a thing called the knowledge, which was, I think, three years or so learning every road and street within like the London area.
So it's called the knowledge, and then maybe they could then become registered taxi drivers. And then you've got the cabs, taxi cabs, or mini cabs, actually, a mini cabs. And they sprung up everywhere.
And they're basically, they didn't used to be registered, but they're supposed to be registered now. So you got registered cabs, a phone, a taxi office, whatever cab office, and they'll send someone that owns their car, and basically just work self employed. And then you've got the dodgy cab drivers that don't have probably any insurance don't have any certification.
And they're basically just driving around, trying their luck, some of which will be fine, you know, they're just trying to earn some money. They might even like get work from the taxi firms. Others might be super dodgy.
And quite a lot of them try to pick up drunk people early hours of the morning, from nightclubs and stuff, so they can rip them off. Some of them so yeah, need to be careful about that. If you ever come to this country, that happens all over probably happens around the world as well.
I mean, I got ripped off in Spain by a taxi driver. He Yeah, took me on a took me on a journey all around Spain, honestly. And in the end, I didn't have any money left.
So I had to come back. It's only there for two hours. So that was not only that wasn't a joke, I literally spent the afternoon in Spain and came home.
It's a shame because it felt quite nice. The heat felt different kind of heat to hear just felt nicer, more pleasant kind of atmosphere. And also it's just nice not to be I mean, I think it's not so much it's nice to not be in England.
I imagine I imagine it's nice for everyone to have a break from their own country. So people come to England or they go to, you know, even if you're living in a really nice place. It's nice just to get away, isn't it? Just to have a break.
See things you've never seen before. And yeah. And then now you got Uber drivers, Uber taxis.
And I don't quite know how that works. And then you got Bolt, which is the newest one. And apparently a lot of Uber drivers are leaving to go to Bolt because Bolt pay more than Uber pay their drivers.
So I don't know. This is what's that's what an Uber driver was telling me the other day. When I had to go in to get my go to dentist appointment.
Because I never had a never got an Uber before. I get Uber Eats like food and groceries and stuff. takeaways and stuff like that.
But I've never got a taxi. And I've had people tell me you need to get a taxi. I said why I don't want to go anywhere.
And they said not not not now. But when you get when you get a taxi next use Uber. I said I don't know.
I don't know if I trust them. I said what's the benefit of Uber? Well they're cheaper. So I looked up on the app.
A journey that I've done many times. And it didn't seem much cheaper to be honest about the same. But there is a benefit.
Is you can see where your taxi is on the app. It's literally you say where you want to go. And it brings up a list of cars, different prices depending on what you want.
And you just book it. And then that's the price you haven't got to pay for it. You know, with cash or with a card, it's just taken out of your Uber account.
Now that suits me. Really suits me. Because then also you haven't got to worry about tipping, because you can add a tip later.
You haven't got to give cash or add money to the debit card or anything. So yeah, I probably will go with Uber Eats in the future. Uber, Uber taxis.
Because it was mildly cheaper. Mildly cheaper, but not a huge amount in it really. But I do feel the urge to give tips.
I just, I don't know. I'm one of them tippy people. And it's not because I think that people should give tips.
I don't think anyone should do anything really. I just do what you want. I'm not into the idea of like, we must tip.
Because this country is not, we're not like that here. Or at least we weren't. You know, tipping was an option.
So yeah, like compulsory tipping. Nah, not a big fan of that. But at the same time, you know, it's just, I think what it is with taxis, I'm so grateful just to arrive where I'm going, that I just tip automatically.
Because they're so close to you when you're paying them. It's kind of, it feels a bit hard not to tip. It'd be, I don't know, I feel like if you, you know, if you're in a restaurant, and all the staff came around, as you paid your bill, like the chef, even the washer upper, the waiter, waitresses, and the delivery drivers who delivered the potatoes.
I'm guessing it's a potato restaurant. You know, everyone gathered around you in a circle to watch you, how much money you put into the, as you paid on, or if you paid by cash, or if you paid with a debit card, how much you were paying. Or if they said, do you want to add a tip? Like, how much more? It's pressure, isn't it? I'm not saying that having a taxi driver right next to you is the same as like 12 members of staff, all standing around on ladders, filming you, but not, I don't know why I'm saying that.
But yeah, it's not quite the same, but there seems to be a little bit of pressure there. But that's just in case you didn't know what taxis were. Not everyone's going to know what stuff is.
Because it is, it might seem a bit weird. If you think, for example, a taxi, you might like, think I said taxidermist, and then I start talking about stuff that's we found inside a taxidermist. And you might be thinking, what? So you want to read them out.
Just imagine if you misheard me, and you thought I'd said taxidermist, what people would find out inside a taxidermist or inside a tax office. Maybe you thought I said that. And then what I read out like, okay, for example, the first one is a wedding dress.
So that can't be the first, that's got to be quite a regular thing, I reckon. A wedding dress, clothing generally. Especially because in the black cabs, like in a normal taxi, it's just a normal car.
You can't maneuver around in it. I can't anyway. But in a black cab, providing you don't want to stand up straight.
You've got room, you know, you can kind of potentially change your top or whatever, you know, if you got, I don't know, you kind of got a little bit of room to maneuver. The same, I suppose, if you was in a limousine. Not that I've ever been in a limousine.
I've never been in a limousine. Have you? Who's been in a limousine? Right. A full suit of armor.
Not a costume. Actual metal armor. Oh, apparently the wedding dress, a bride apparently arrived at a destination with the wedding dress, not in the wedding dress, and forgot the dress that she'd been carrying.
Wow. That's got to be weird. A strange situation.
What would you do? Because those wedding places where, whether it's a church or whether it's a registrary office thing, they've got time slots, haven't they? And they've got to get it done within a certain time. Otherwise you've got to come back another day. So if you forgot your dress, I was going to think, I'm just thinking Wonder Woman would never have to worry about that, would she? Because she could just wear it and just twirl.
Do you think that that's missing from the Wonder Woman movies? The twirling and the big sparkle, the big flash, and suddenly she's gone from wearing a blouse and glasses and, well, clothes, with her hair tied back to being Wonder Woman in her, I don't know, costume, whatever she wears. That's such a lie, the fact that I don't know exactly what Wonder Woman wears. Down to every minute detail.
I was like, yeah, I can't remember. Did she wear, did she wear boots? I can't remember. Like, yeah, I do.
I remember. I loved Wonder Woman when I was a kid. Loved it.
Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.
An incredible Hulk and a bionic man. I was reading something. Um, this might be slightly uninteresting to you.
Which is partly what this is about, isn't it? About being uninteresting. Those of you that remember the Dukes of Hazzard, the blonde one, the blonde man. Apparently, he was only 18 years old when he got that part as, I think, Bo, Bo Duke.
Because there was a blonde and there was the woman with dark hair. Bo and, obviously, Daisy were their cousin. And Bo and Jerry, Derek, Bo and Derek, Bo and, I can't remember.
But anyway, Bo, the blonde one. And he, yeah, he was 18 and he was a huge star. Both of them were huge stars being in one of the, most watched TV programs in the world.
And they realized after a couple of years, or maybe three, four years, that they weren't getting paid enough. Because the TV company were making absolute fortunes in merchandise. I think even I had a General Majors car.
And you could buy dolls, you could, I think you could buy ramps. I think you might even be able to buy the house, not the actual house, but like a model of the house. And you'd have General Majors, the General Major was the car.
And it went do do do do do do do do do do. And there was, there was a lot of money made from that. There was books, annuals, cartoons, all kinds of stuff.
And apparently, and I kind of vaguely remember this. But I read this the other day, vaguely remember, they kind of went on strike. Or they got written out for a season.
It was either one season or two seasons. I think it was one season. And their two cousins replaced them for a season.
Now, I think what I've done in my mind is I'm pretending to remember. Although, I don't really remember. But it does sound familiar.
Because it's something that would have been quite a big deal at the time. Why have they got their cousins? And I think it was like, I don't like their cousins. They dislike them, but it wasn't them.
It was just it. Yeah. It's like having a Barnet man, but him having a having a year off and Lionel Richie took his place for a year.
I love Lionel Richie. But I don't think he'd make a good Barnet man at the same time. I don't think that Lee Majors would have been a great like singer necessarily.
Although, I did like the song that he did for the Fall Guy. I like that song. I love the Fall Guy.
See Lee Majors. The thing about some of them TV shows in the early 80s that I've noticed when I watch them back, like the Fall Guy is one that's been on recently. What other ones is there? Anyway, just the Fall Guy, for example.
There's a lot of humor in it. Like gentle kind of humor. Like it's serious as well.
There's serious stuff going on. But the the relationship between the stars of the show and how well they get on and a little bit like with Magnum. Do you remember Magnum? And the bloke that used to drive the helicopter helicopter.
And then the other bloke who had the Dobermans. And there was this relationship they had that was just lovely. Yeah, but there was that kind of humor that was there.
And I'm not I'm not one of these people that see this one has things that just I've never quite understood it. I'm not going back 30 odd years. When I first kind of first really experienced this.
And I've experienced it quite a few times since. Yeah, so I remember 1995. My friend's stepdad was cutting the garden in the front.
And he was listening to some 60 songs. Yeah, I think he had a I think he might be listening to Capital Gold or something on the radio. And I accidentally got into a conversation with him.
And he he started talking about 60s songs, and that was his big passion. And he said, Oh, there hasn't been a decent song written since the 60s. And it's always kind of stayed with me a little bit.
stayed with me. And then I just, I think I've heard a couple of people in the past say that to me and when I go on YouTube, and there'll be a clip from maybe there'll be a song from 1973. And guaranteed, if there's a lot of comments, someone will say, or hasn't been a decent song since the 70s.
Or if it's a TV show from the 80s, there hasn't been a decent TV show from the 80s, since the 80s. And I don't understand that mentality. I suppose do I suppose I do a little bit.
I understand the mentality of like, you know what you like. Good for you. You know, I'm, I'm an 80s 90s guy, really.
80s and 90s was my period of growing up for the age of 10 to 30. So I, you know, that was my kind of time of listening to music and being influenced by music. And maybe the very late 70s.
I don't Yeah, I started taking, taking notice of music probably about 78, when I was about eight or nine. And after the age of 30, I still listen to music and everything, but I didn't listen to as often as I did previous because I always used to have music playing when I was working. So I'd always be really up to date with the latest hits for two decades.
And the 2000s came along. And it was a case of I did watch Top of the Pops and stuff. But I wasn't listening to the radio all I was in call centers.
So I was a little bit out of the loop. And as I got older, I become more and more less out of the loop. When it comes to what's new, what's groovy, what's in, you know, what's popular.
And I also understand in a way, how people might get, there's the old things are all it all sounds the same. Well, there was a lot of copying. But I'm pretty sure that happened in the 60s, in the 50s, in the 40s, in the 30s.
In the 80s, always happened. Maybe it's not blatant copying, but it's influences, isn't it? So I, you know, the amount of people that have been influenced by Billie Eilish, for example, or the amount of people who were influenced by Nicki Minaj, or trying to think of like, just loads, loads of people influenced by some of the newer. And I know Billie Eilish is not a new singer.
But to me, she doesn't see that long ago that she was riding about on a little bike shouting, he's a bad boy, wherever it was that that video. But that was before I moved in here, I think that must have been about 2013 2014. Blimey, it's been around a while now.
But then she was only I think, 1716 at the time, so she's still probably not 30 yet. So I can see how a lot of music does sound very similar to people that perhaps are not willing to listen to this to the music. Make a bit more noise, please, Vinnie.
Thanks. That's a lot of water. Blimey.
That was a lot, wasn't it? Yeah, that was a good 30 seconds worth of drinking there. Still got to wait an hour before we go anywhere. Okay, a chainsaw was found in the back of a taxi.
A prosthetic leg. That, how? Unless it was someone else's prosthetic leg. Prosthetic, prosthetic.
Prophetic, that'd be like predicting the future, wouldn't it? A leg that could predict the future. Prosthetic, not prophetic. How? You'd notice, wouldn't you? A glass eye.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know. Do they just pop out on their own? I don't know. Maybe he's cleaning it.
A coffin, an actual coffin in the back of a taxi. How did a coffin fit into the backs of a taxi? A stuffed, a coffin, what? A stuffed penguin. Okay, here's my question.
We're only at number seven. Here's my question. Can you flap your ears, please, Vinnie? Thanks.
Here's my question. Now, a taxi driver, right, you know, it's one thing, the person leaving without their item. How they could not? How could you forget something that big? But doesn't the taxi driver pay any attention to what's going on inside his own taxi? Wouldn't you notice that there was a penguin in the back of your car? Huh.
A live lobster. Why are people traveling around with coffins and stuffed penguins and live lobsters? Can you make a bit more noise eating, please, Vinnie? Thanks. A wheelchair.
Now, you would think that that would be noticed, wouldn't you? I mean, unless it was like a miracle taxi. Wow. Mind you, I've seen wheelchairs abandoned.
Like in the street. I've seen wheelbarrow, wheelbarrows, wheelbarrows, wheelchairs left outside supermarkets. Like what? A wedding cake.
I mean, literally, if you get in a taxi with a wedding cake, chances are you're getting that taxi specifically because you've got a wedding cake. And wouldn't you be holding on to that wedding cake? I think very firmly. Because ultimately, you know, it's going to topple over on the roads because in this road in this country in England, we're not allowed to have smooth roads.
We have to have dips in them. It's I think it's like for every. Every two minutes of driving, there must be a pothole in the road.
They're built like that. If a road is built and it doesn't have potholes, they have to like dig into them just to make the. It's kind of one of those things that helps the the motor industry to, you know, to wear down the tires so that people have to pay more money and, you know, things like that.
So it's it's it's a really good thing. Your animals, a snake, a pet tarantula, a goldfish bowl. See, I've traveled with a goldfish bowl.
I'm not traveled the world. I didn't go on a cruise. But I've been in a lorry when I moved here.
I had a goldfish bowl with two goldfish. And you have to be first of all, you have to empty quite a bit of the water out, otherwise it's going to go everywhere and you have to be really careful to hold on to it, cling on to it. You can't just leave it on the seat.
So I don't understand how that happened. A cage full of chickens. A cage full of, again, right, it's one thing the passenger forgetting them.
How do you drive off and go around about your merry way as a taxi driver with a cage full of chickens and not notice the sound. Mind you, he might just been talking about the thing if you get a taxi driver, he might be talking about politics or something and he just he got got distracted by his own political views. I don't know, not all taxi drivers, you know, just some.
A ferret. I'd love to find a ferret. The weird thing is about it is if I found a ferret, I got to pick him up and think that well, I think it would be safe to do that.
And it's not because not all ferrets are friendly. A parrot. Again, parrots aren't quiet, are they? I'm beginning to think that some of this stuff is just left in there because people wanted to get rid of them.
A tortoise, or as some people wrongly pronounce it, a tortoise, which is just a ridiculous way to say anything, isn't it? Pronounce anything tortoise. It's weird. A rabbit.
A hamster, a pet rat. A full set of dentures. False teeth in a glass.
Now, I know the dentures have to come out. False teeth have to come out at night. You know, put them in a glass of water and maybe, you know, something to clean them and stuff while you're in bed.
Why would you take your glasses out and put them into a glass of water when you're in a taxi? A hearing aid. Yeah, but maybe the taxi driver did shout at them to let them know, but you know. A wig.
Maybe, you know, I mean, there's a chance that the person decided that they're just gonna accept the hairlessness of their head and just live life without worrying about it anymore. They said to hell with the wig. Maybe.
Get a hat. A box of contact lenses. Now, that's just something that's fallen out of a bag, I reckon.
But maybe they're looking for it, they couldn't find it. Because it didn't have the contact lenses in. Crutches.
See, this is weird. It's kind of a similar thing with the old wheelchair, isn't it? Crutches. A walking stick.
A neck brace. A neck brace. I mean, orthopedic boots.
Things you'd think people would notice they weren't wearing. Bearing in mind that these are things that people wear because they need to in order to be mobile. A set of x-rays.
Where would you get a set of x-rays from? Would that be a doctor possibly left that? A chains of office worn by a mayor. Like those necklaces. Wow.
A judge's wig. You know, we still have those in this country. Judge's wigs.
Absolutely. I mean, I don't. I've got nothing against them, but it is ridiculous.
A judge's wig. The white judge's wig. What is this? 200 years ago.
Very sad. But yeah, apparently. A firefighter's helmet.
How? I mean, do they get back? Do the people get their stuff back? I don't know. A police uniform. A clown costume.
Weird how they put them two together. Is it rude, isn't it? A giant mascot head. Again, how would you not know that was in your car? How could you not notice that? A magician's wand.
I imagine that's not a euphemism. A circus unicycle. A bag of fake money.
A ventriloquist's dummy. Right, here's some musical instruments that's been found in the back of a taxi. A trombone, a cello, a harp.
A harp. Now, a trombone. A harp.
A harp's nearly as big as a car itself anyway. How do you even fit a car inside a taxi? And not notice it's still there. How do you not notice? How do you? How? How do you manage to walk out of a taxi without a harp? Mind you, I was on a date once and I walked home without her.
I forgot she was there. So yeah, it's possible to forget who you're with, I suppose. So it's probably possible to forget about a harp.
Bagpipes. Bagpipes has got to be an instrument that if you play it, you constantly want to just to get rid of it. The only bagpipes I've ever enjoyed was Muller King Tyre.
I don't know how he did it. Maybe it's the fact that he's a musical genius, but I liked the bagpipes in that. But generally, I'm not not a big bagpipes fan.
Just it's the wrong sounds. For me, for my ears anyway. A drum kit.
Was it set up? Was it like a full set up drum kit or just in bags? A violin. A trumpet. A karaoke machine.
A microphone collection. A portable piano keyboard. A giant teddy bear.
Again, where's a taxi driver at this point? A life-sized cardboard celebrity. That's fair enough. The cab driver just thought he was still in there.
Probably thought he had another affair. A box of rubber ducks. A collection of gnomes.
A pirate flag. A medieval sword. A giant pumpkin.
A giant banana costume. A box of magic tricks. A giant foam finger.
That is random, isn't it? Very random. This is weird. A refrigerator door.
Why would you be walking around with a refrigerator door? A toilet seat. I mean, if it was new. If it wasn't new, I wouldn't want them in my taxi, would you? You ain't coming in my car with a used toilet seat.
I don't care if it was an accident with a super glue and you want to go to the hospital. No. Get a different taxi.
A vacuum cleaner. Again, I don't care if you have an accident with a vacuum cleaner or you thought it would be a good idea and now you need to go to A&E. No.
A microwave. A lampshade bigger than the passenger. How would you not notice that? A wheelbarrow.
I mean, that would take up most of the room, wouldn't it? A wheelbarrow. I mean, you literally have to move your legs in order to get into the back of a taxi with a maneuver around it in order to get out. So you can't say that you didn't know the wheelbarrow was in there.
If you was a passenger, I mean. A birdbath. A sack of potatoes.
A full Christmas tree. This next one's a bit random. A box containing 5000 buttons.
Now, OK. So a taxi driver found a box. It contained buttons.
But that wasn't enough. He had to count them. And it takes quite a while to count to 5000.
And if you get interrupted, you've got to keep starting all over again. A stamp collection. A coin collection.
A collection of antique spoons. I didn't know such a thing existed. A box of toy soldiers.
A large model railway. A jigsaw puzzle nearly finished. A chess set made of glass.
A jigsaw puzzle nearly finished. So what did they do in this jigsaw puzzle while they were in the taxi? Who would carry a jigsaw puzzle around with them that was in the process of making the jigsaw puzzle? How? How? How? I don't know. A giant collection of marbles.
A bag of yo-yos. A giant collection of marble. I used to love marbles when I was a kid.
A typewriter. A laptop full of important research. A briefcase containing nothing but biscuits.
Now that's the kind of briefcase I like. A box of blank VHS tapes. A portable fax machine.
A pager. A vintage telephone. A satellite dish.
An old radio. A satellite dish. Now they're quite big aren't they? These are taxi drivers thinking I'm getting a better reception at the moment.
This is quite good. A metal detector. A jar of pickled onions.
And this is, that's just someone's groceries falling out of their bag isn't it? That's not like weird really. I suppose it depends on how big the jar is. A giant wheel of cheese.
A box of doughnuts. A sack of flour. Again depends if it's a sack.
I mean a bag is what one kilo. A sack is huge. They'd be old things.
Yeah hard to lift then. Of this I know because I used to work in a bakery. I used to work in two bakeries.
A bag containing 100 bananas. A chocolate fountain. Wow.
A watermelon larger than the seat. You'd think it, yeah. I mean a watermelon larger than the seat would be quite difficult to carry wouldn't it? It's got to be really heavy.
A crate of coconuts. A birthday cake shaped like a dinosaur. That's very specific.
It's very specific isn't it? An entire mannequin. Wow. See we just asked someone the question.
Longest Taxi journey. Right let's see if we can find the longest taxi journey. London to Sydney 2011.
Three friends hired a London black cab and drove all the way from London to Sydney to raise money for charity. Distance 10,000 plus miles. 16,000 plus kilometres.
It took several months. Route crossed Europe and Asia before shipping the cab to Australia. The famous cab was nicknamed Hannah.
Okay. I quite like the idea. Do something like that.
Yeah. New York to Los Angeles. There have been several documented taxi rides across the United States.
Distance approximately 2,800 miles or 4,500 kilometres. Took 40 to 50 hours of driving. Fair estimates can exceed several thousands of dollars.
I suppose it would wouldn't it? Norway to Spain. So a wealthy passenger reportedly hired a taxi from Oslo to Madrid. Over 1,800 miles.
Cost tens of thousands of pounds after accommodation and return expenses. See 1,800 miles. That's a few days traveling isn't it? Paris to Moscow.
Several European taxi companies reported long distance bookings between Paris and Moscow. About 1,500 miles. So the world's most expensive taxi ride.
Here we go. One passenger reportedly took a taxi from Toronto to Vancouver. Distance over 2,700 miles.
That's a few days traveling. 4,300 kilometres. The fare reportedly exceeds 10,000 dollars.
I suppose you know if you've if you've got the money. It's that's a lot of money. But yeah if you've got the money to do that I suppose.
The word taxi. Oh that's interesting. The word taxi comes from taxi meter.
The device used to calculate fares. Ah okay. The first motorized taxis appeared in the late 1890s.
London's famous black cabs are designed with a large turning circle so that they can provide perform a u-turn in the road outside the Savoy Hotel. Wow some modern taxis have traveled over 1 million miles during their working lives. The longest taxi queues often occur at major airports where drivers can wait several hours for a fare.
The longest taxi queues often occur at major airports where drivers can wait. So I suppose really the more customers there are the more taxis are going to be waiting for the customers. Which means the longer you're going to be waiting.
So you might have a thousand people. That's a lot of people. Say a thousand people waiting for taxis at Heathrow Airport.
But there might be 200 taxis all waiting. So it might literally take an hour before you get to your to the next person to pick them up. I'm not sure if what I said is even slightly true.
But I enjoyed saying it. It felt nice. It felt nice to pretend to have some kind of understanding of what I'm talking about.
It felt right. You know what I mean? So that. Yeah that's it really.
Trivia Tuesday. Hello. We've done it.
I don't know if it was really worth it. Some of it was sort of a little bit interesting but bag of yo-yos. Did I mention that? I remember there was when I worked in insurance.
There's a bloke. I asked him. Did you have any had any accidents in the last year and the last six years? I can't remember what the rules were.
And he said yeah. I had a crash in a supermarket car park. I said okay.
Was it fault or non-fault? And he said it was fault. I said okay. And I said can you just roughly tell me what happened? And he started laughing.
He said you won't believe me. I said okay. Just yeah just fine.
And he said he drove into the car park and there was only one other car in the entire car park outside a really massive supermarket. And he drove into the back of the car trying to park. He could have parked anywhere.
Literally. But he decided to park right behind the other car. That's it I think.
That is it. That's all I've got to say to you. So tomorrow is Wednesday the 3rd of June 2026.
So what June, July, August. The three months of the I guess this would be kind of like summer wouldn't it? And then September which can be it can be summer as well sometimes. So that's it.
Thank you for listening. Remember to be kind to yourself because you do deserve to be happy. And be gentle with yourself.
You deserve to feel safe. Lots of love. Bye.
