Hello and welcome Welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name's Jason Newland and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Hello, how are you? I thought I'd uh, I don't know what I thought. It's quite early in the morning.

I thought I'd kind of go through my routine with that involved taking you into the bathroom and I don't think anybody wants that. So that's why I'd go maybe go through my routine of what I do when I'm on the, when I first get onto the laptop. Before that, I've got to move that metal thing.

Honestly, I keep bashing it. Yesterday I made a couple of new recordings. Did I say only listen when you can safely close your eyes? I don't know.

I never know if I said it or not. I know it's weird, but it's true. I just like, I don't know.

See Vinnie's got up as well. He didn't need to get up. Quite often he stays in bed when I wake up.

Although the sound of the rain, I think it's, yeah, it couldn't be snow. Snow wouldn't make that much noise. Yeah.

It's raining quite heavy, which is all right. I don't mind. I'm not going out.

I'm not going out in there. Last night before going to bed, I didn't realise it was raining. So I just went out on my top.

Okay. Number one depends as well, but I went out and yeah, it was raining. That's a really boring story.

I wish I was able to catch myself like that when I was younger. You know, stop myself from telling a really boring story before I'd started or before I'd continued for about an hour. Maybe then I'd have been able to form some kind of friendships and maybe a romantic relationship.

So yeah, I did two recordings yesterday. I can't remember what they were. One was, was it? One was called, what was it called? Oh, okay.

So I did one, which was for, it was a request for Shana and it was withdrawal from medication. And the second one I did was also requested that I do a new Jason's bedtime story time. So I did.

And that one was number 31, Alice needs a poo. So it's kind of a take on Alice in Wonderland. And yeah, so I did those.

So I should suppose, I guess I should mention my website. It's jasonnewland.com. It's pretty much my podcast now. Although I need to go and change the payments because they've, they keep trying to take money out and it's not allowing it for some reason.

They keep trying to take money out of PayPal, which is how I pay for the podcast or for my website. And it's not taking it out. So I'm not sure what's going on.

I don't know. So what I need to do is change the payments. In fact, I'm going to do that right now.

When I think about it, because I don't want to leave my website. It's my website. I love my website.

So I keep getting emails. Oh, look, another one, a big red line across the bottom. Warning, payment attempt failed.

Please update your billing, your billing information before January the 10th, 2025 to keep your site alive. That's a bit strong words in it alive. It's not nice.

Not live, but alive. Or what it could use to keep your site online or active. No, alive.

It's very, very weird. Okay, update payment methods. I can do that.

Fairly easy, easy, easy, easy. Right? Is it done? Is it done? Is it done? Okay, passwords, passwords. I'll tell you what, it's genuinely, it would be practically all these like remembering passwords or these different passwords to remember.

It's not practical. It's important. I'm not saying that, but how are people supposed to remember it all? I don't know, I'm sure there'll be there'll be some kind of different way.

Like retina, retinal face recognition. I don't know why they don't just have that with everything. I don't know why.

Right, so okay, the cards now saved. Have I got enough on there? Is there enough in the bank? Look, what have I got? What's my, what's my worldly positions? £49.69. Yay, I'm rich. £49.69. Blimey.

So yeah, that's right. Right, so my, my daily route. Okay, now the website.

So on the website, let's update it, see if it's all updated. Yes, Alice needs a poo. That's all updated.

Withdrawal from Medicare. Okay, good. This is basically a podcast website.

So you go on there and all the latest recordings are available. You can download them, it tells you how big the file is. If you want to download it, it tells you how long it lasts for the date it was uploaded.

So you can stream it, you can download it, you can even change the speed of which you play it, of which, and you can also share it, which would be nice if you could do that. Just, you know, as a little favor, a father to me. I don't know if anyone ever does.

I sometimes think people just want to keep me as a dirty little secret. I don't want to be a dirty secret anymore. Yeah, so that's, that's my website anyway.

I do have a YouTube channel. It's at Jason Newland. It's slow but steady.

Slow but steady. Or just slow. So, I, you know, I upload, well I was, I tried to start making videos of me again and I just, uh, uh, you know, I mean, just like, uh, no, no, I think, I mean, I've, I've got my YouTube, I've got my video, basically, blah, blah, blah, basically, basically, they are my, it's like a 10-hour version.

So I do these recordings, I do six versions of these recordings, one without music, a five and ten hour version without music, one with music and a five and ten hour with music. So I create a video of the 10-hour without music and it's 10 seconds of a screen and then it's a dark screen for the rest of the time. So I upload that every time I make a new recording.

And, yeah, that's it really. What else is there on there? There are playlists, all the old stuff, there's thousands of recordings on there available. There's also a link to a Facebook group which is Jason Newland's Boring Group.

Oh, should say hello to, I've got a new person joined, new person. So I already said welcome to Jackie. We had Mary joined five hours ago.

Jackie joined on the 2nd of January. And, yeah, so the new newest person I think has joined the Jason Newland's Boring Group on Facebook is Mary. So welcome, Mary.

Vinnie just flapped his ears to say welcome to the group. So we've now got 205 members. I know you were expecting, you weren't expecting that many, were you? 205.

How long did it take? Six years. Now that's an accomplishment. I'm sure you'll all agree.

It's an accomplishment. All five of you that listen to these recordings, you would agree that this 205, how did you manage that? How is that a year? I should be able to work that out in my head, but I can't be bothered. So I'm going to do it in a calculator.

205 divided by six times by 700. Take away nine. So it's 23,907 a year.

That's not bad. That's not bad. So 205.

Although, although, because if I click on the members, let's have a quick look at this. I don't know if it will show me that information. Yeah.

Why do you keep saying Jason Newlands Boring Group on Facebook? Why don't you just say your Facebook page or your Facebook group? It's almost like you're trying to, you're kind of just begging people to join. Oh, please join my group. It's so good.

So it's just so needy. You're just so needy. I'm not.

So welcome all of you. So that's, yeah, within a week. So I haven't had that many people join in a week for a while.

I mean, you know, if I had five people join every week over the next year, so that's five times 52. Take away 73. Plus seven times 41.

That'd be 474 at the end of the year. It's not bad, is it? So it's kind of, but now that's like, that's nearly, nearly as many as I've already got. A little bit less than what I've already got, but it's not bad.

Six years. Vinnie's gone back to bed. I've got him food.

I put food out for him for nothing. He was just following me. He's been a bit, a bit more follow-y lately.

I don't know why. Bear in mind, we're always together anyway, but he's been a bit more kind of just wanting to be with me. Yeah, that's all right.

That's nice. He's a good boy. I think what it is, because I need to have, when I'm in here, to stop him barking, I have him in here in the living room and I've closed the living room door so that we can sit in the living room together and he's not barking at every single sound, which he will do.

You know, every time someone comes and goes out of a door, out their front door, he just, he gets excited. So I know he likes to do that and I have to let him do it sometimes. But a lot more of the time he's with me in the living room or when we're in the bedroom, I've got the door closed as well.

So he has his water and food or whatever on the floor. But just it stops him from barking, disturbing me, disturbing the other people. I think he's getting used to, I don't know, he's getting used to kind of being with me a bit more.

Because he does like wander off to a different room, which is fine. I still kind of let him do that. Let him do that, he'd do it anyway, but he'd paraglide out the window if he needed to, if that's his only way of getting some space.

He spends more time with me than before. But I still, you know, need to let him have his space and go onto the window in the bar, in the bedroom and look out the window and stuff like that. Yeah, he doesn't like the kitchen though.

He's never liked the kitchen. It's a weird thing. He follows me sometimes into the kitchen, you know, because perhaps he thinks he's got a treat coming or he's wondering what I'm up to.

And I don't even know he's in there. So I'm at the sink, washing up. That's the only time I'm ever at the sink.

What else would you do at a sink? Knitting? Praying? Planning for the future? Plotting? I don't know. What can you do at a sink? I could wash my hands, I suppose, but I do that in the bathroom. I just prefer soap to washing up liquid.

He might say, well, why don't you get some soap? What's it got to do with you? I don't know, I just have to buy in. I don't want soap in the kitchen. I like soap in the kitchen.

I've got washing up liquid. I used to have those squirty containers of soap, you know, the ones that you push down on. That's the whole story.

I don't know. I don't know what else to add to that. I struggled on how to, how do you work them? I don't mean you push down on them.

I know that. I know how to work them once they're working. How do you activate the thing? No, I've got one home and it's just, I'm pushing on it.

I don't want to break it. I don't want to like force it and push down too hard. But it wasn't working.

Now admit, yeah, this was probably 2001. So it's a while back, but a little while. But I couldn't get the thing to work.

Why are you not working? See, back then, things didn't talk back to me like they do now. It's just like, why are you not working? It's just like, there's nothing, no, oh, I just did a burp. No communication.

Oh, did I tell you? I've been watching, well, I've just watched two seasons of a new show. It's not a new show, I guess if it's had two seasons. It's called Silo.

S I L O. And it's really good. It's good. Just check it, check it out.

If you, I think it's on Apple. So on Apple, let me just check, go in to see it. Yes, Apple TV Silo.

I wonder if they're going to do a third season. Are they going to do a third season? Third season. A third season.

Season one. Right, Silo is an American science fiction dystopian drama. I like dystopian dramas.

I don't know why, I just do. I don't know if it's kind of almost preparation, who knows? It's based on the Silo trilogy of novels, Wool, Shift and Dust. Oh, I thought that was the the authors.

And how does that work? Three authors? There's got to be a bit of conflict there between, you know, I want the penguin scene. I love the penguin scene. No, I think it should be an elephant.

And I, you know, he should be having a, he should have, he should wear an umbrella. You can't wear an umbrella, can you? You hold an umbrella. No, he should wear an umbrella.

A penguin wearing an umbrella. That's going to ruin the scene. It's a beach scene, and it's sunny.

It's a big sunny day. Why has it always got everything got to be big for you? Just a sunny day. A big sunny day.

It's no bigger than it was yesterday, whether it's sunny or not. Size isn't everything. Oh, yeah, says you who always wants big animals.

You want an elephant instead of a penguin. Sounds to me like size is a bit more everything to you. Although that doesn't make sense, really, in a sentence.

You know, I knew what I meant. I think you might do too. Yeah.

No, I always know Hugh Hovey, Howie, Hugh Howie. So only one. So I think more than one author would be difficult.

Especially with a storybook. Set in a dystopian future where a community exists in a giant. So I'm not going to give away any of the.

Yeah, I'm not going to give it. I'm not going to give away any of the storyline. I'm going to give you a little bit, but I'm not going to give away anything that will spoil it.

And I'm not going to mention it blowing up. Oh, oops. No, it's set in a dystopian dystopian future where a community exists in a giant underground silo, which I've never heard of before, comprising 144 levels.

And there's 10,000 people on it. It's development on a film Adaption of War, which is one of the books, began in 2012. Wow, that's a while back.

By the end of the decade, the project was shelved and was picked up as a series by Apple TV Plus in May 2021. Principal photography began in August 2021 and the 10 episode first season began streaming from May the 5th, 2023. It received positive reviews from critics, particularly for the world building production design and Ferguson's performance.

So Ferguson, Rebecca Ferguson. To tell you what. She's good.

She's good. Is it? Is it? Just make sure it's the right person. Yeah, it's good.

That's weird. So it's starring, but they put people that I wouldn't put as the stars. What's okay him but Rashida Jones.

I wouldn't put it down as the second star. Common. I didn't know he was a rapper.

I wondered why I said common before. That's weird. What kind of name is common? I mean, it's far from common, is it? Really, to be honest.

Common is an American rapper and actor. He is the recipient of three Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. At the age of 20, he signed with The Independent.

How am I only first hearing about him? He's 52. I've never heard of the bloke. His debut studio album, Can I Borrow a Dollar? is 1992, which met with critical acclaim.

I'm going to have to check him out. I don't mean like, oh, I mean like check and check out the music. Right.

So he attained a major label record. He released his fourth and fifth albums like Water for Chocolate in 2000 and Electric Circus in 2002. This is Wikipedia.

His guest performances his guest performance on fellow Soulquarian, Erykah Badu's Single Lover. He won R&B song Best R&B Song at the 45th Annual Grammy Awards. He signed with fellow Chicago rapper Kanye West.

His sixth album, Bee, 2005. So he won, oh, so he yielded a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. And his seventh album, Find Him Forever, 2007, became his first to debut.

Atop the Billboard 200 was a song from the album Southside featuring Kanye West. Won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. His eighth album, Universal Mind Control, 2008, was met with mixed critical reception and served as his final release with Good.

That's Circus, that's the song. Is it a song? Okay, Common's own label imprint, Think Common Entertainment, was founded in 2011 and entered a joint venture with Warner Bros. Records to release his ninth album, The Dreamer slash The Believer, 2011.

So that's saying it's real name is Linn. Linn won, or Common won, the American, no, the Academy Award for Best Original Song for his song Glory with John Legend, which he released for the film Selma in 2014, wherein he starred as civil rights leader James Bevel. His other film roles include Smoke and Aces in 2006, Street Kings, 2008, American Gangster in 2007, Wanted in 2008, Date Night in 2010, Just Right in 2010, Happy Feet 2 in 2011, Run All Night, 2015, John Wick Chapter 2, 2017, and Smallfoot, 2018.

You know, he looked familiar to me. He looked familiar. Now, just looking at those movies, which ones have I seen? I've seen Smoke and Aces.

I've seen American Gangster. I've seen Wanted. I've seen Date Night.

I'm not sure if I've seen Run All Night. I've definitely seen John Wick Chapter 2. So I've seen movies he's been in. And he did look familiar, and he's got quite a distinctive voice as well, and quite a distinctive face, quite a distinctive look.

His song, Letter to the Free, was released from the Ava DuVernay Directed Netflix Documentary 13th in 2017, which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding original music and lyrics. Okay, so television, he starred as Helen Ferguson in the AMC Western series Helen Wills. No, I didn't see that.

And has played a supporting role in the Apple TV Plus science fiction series, Silo, since 2023. So he also won a Pulitzer Prize for drama. When he made his Broadway acting debit on the play Between Riverside and Crazy, 2023.

Wow. So his dad was a basketball player. I've got to check him out.

He's definitely got screen presence. Some actors have just got screen presence without even without even really needing to try. They're just good.

Look, he's just... I don't know how to explain this to me anyway. They, when they're on screen, you know they're on screen. They're, you know, there could be other people in the room, but they're, they're definitely present.

Does that make sense? You know, I mean, I'm trying to think of people like that, I would say not Donald Duck. I'm trying to think. Popeye.

There's a lot of actors that kind of have not, I mean, yeah, there's a few that stand out. But it's not, there's not so much charisma even. Like you've got George Clooney, George Clooney, George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

And they're both in some ways got a similar kind of energy sometimes of that charisma. And they shine. They shine on the movies.

And you say that about, I suppose, a lot of the really huge stars, movie stars, they shine when they're in the movies, which is why they're movie stars. He's, I think he's probably got a bit of an edge to him. That's what it is.

Common. He's, he's far from common. Oh, he's got an edge.

And edgy, and it comes across on the screen, I would say. Now I'm wondering, are they going to make another series of Silo? There's been two seasons. Rebecca Ferguson, as Juliet Nichols, an engineer who works on the generators in the lowest level of Silo.

She's the star. Okay. Nope, didn't want that.

Got into the code of the page or something. David Owolowa. David, what's he been in? He's been in lots of things.

I just can't. Filmography, Dog Eat Dog, 2001. Blimey, he's been in a lot of, a lot of things.

Lawman, just looking at stuff that he's been in. TV, Robot Chicken, complicit fundraising. Nothing that I think I've seen him in.

Well, I might have seen him, but Lion Guard, Star Wars, there's a voice. Okay. The number one ladies detective agency.

Can't believe that's 17 years ago. I remember that being on TV. It doesn't seem that long ago.

Blimey. So what movies has he been in? Solitude, role play, turning to Booker Clarence. I've, have I seen that? See how they run.

Midnight Sky, The Waterman, Come Away, Don't Let Go, Gringo, Wrinkle in Time. I've seen that one. It's a good movie.

The Cloverfield Paradox. Yeah, that's a good movie. United Kingdom.

No, don't know that. Queen of Catwick, Nina, Captive, Selma. He played Martin Luther King in Selma, which was, was it a Spike Lee movie? Spike Lee.

Was it Spike Lee? It wasn't. Written by Paul Webb, produced by, directed by Ava Duverna, Duverma. Selma, he starred, he was a star.

And he starred as Martin Luther King Why is, why is it called Selma? Oh, okay. Yeah, that's because of where it was. They were marching.

1965, Selma to Montgomery, voting rights. Wow. Tim Roth, George Wallace.

So, was he nominated, nominated for any awards? Golden Globe Award. That's quite amazing, you think about it. To be, because that's a big movie, isn't it? That was a big movie when it came out and just, some movies have a degree of importance, historically.

And, you know, because being Martin Luther, Martin Luther, Martin Luther King, such an important person, such a big, interstellar. I like that movie. He was in that Nightingale.

Yeah, I remember that. I watched that. I don't remember it, but I did watch it.

Jack Reacher. He was in quite a lot. Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Help.

I don't know, I seem to, apart from a wrinkle in time, I don't know, really, any of these other movies that he's been in. Oh, well. I'll tell you who is quite a standout actor in the silo TV show.

It's Tim Robbins. He's really good. It's really good.

And, I mean, they're all good. They're all, you know, they're all good in their own way, but he's just, yeah. He's been around forever, hasn't he? He's what, 90? Yeah, he's 96.

He was born in 1958. I mean, blimey, what's, the Shawdank Redemption. I mean, he was a star of that.

He was a star of that. One of the most iconic movies of the 90s. 1994.

Blimey, that's over 20, 23 years ago. Wow. I'll tell you a movie.

It's not a nice movie, but it's a very powerful movie called Mystic River. So he's in that as well. But again, it's not, it's one of those movies just like, yeah, you're not gonna, you're not gonna watch it and feel like really good.

But he's emotionally powerful. He was in Top Gun. The Green Lantern.

The Green Lantern. I don't care what anyone says. I liked the Green Lantern movie.

I did. There's something about the possibilities of the Green Lantern. The idea of the Green Lantern is to be able to create anything that you can imagine.

You know, create anything that you can imagine. It's just phenomenal. I think in the Green Lantern was a helicopter was about to crash and he saved it by using something like a train or like, you know, using his ring.

I'm talking about the one in his finger. He saved the train, saved the helicopter with his ring. And he imagined, you know, like a safety net thing with a train and, you know, that's what I mean.

So if your own limitations or your imagination, it's pretty phenomenal. And sometimes I think about the mind being a bit like that, with, yeah, with the Green Lantern. I'll give you an example.

When I used to, I used to travel on buses a lot. When I first moved to this town, I, no, yeah, yeah, when I first moved, because I was in the, I was way out. So I had to get buses nearly every day.

More than, well, usually at least two. Because I had to come home. But sometimes more than that on a day.

And what I used to do is, if there was someone coughing or whatever on the bus, I would put a barrier up to protect me, an invisible barrier. Again, very similar to kind of the Green Lantern. But I'd visualize and imagine a barrier or like a bubble protecting me from their germs.

But then what I would do is imagine from the ceiling, spraying out onto each person was healing energy that was going to heal. So I imagined the person was being healed, as well as everyone else. And if nothing else, I felt quite good doing it.

Trying to think of some other, yeah, I used to do that one quite a lot. Regardless of if someone was coughing or not. I used to imagine the healing spreading, like falling onto people's heads and going down into their, into the skull and filling their body with healing energy.

Massaging the scalp, calming everyone down. And I suppose in some way, it's kind of an extension of the Metta Bhavana meditation practice, where part of the process is you end up, you know, wishing people well. Start with yourself and then work out towards the whole world really.

And it's a powerful practice. And it's kind of can open up, open you up to, or open the person up that does it, to feeling really kind and really kind of foremost loving towards others. Or at least, the very least, some positivity.

Or the really least, less negativity. You know, it can, it can just soften. Yeah, so I quite like that.

I don't know when the next season of Silo is going to come out. I would be interested. Is it going to say anything about it? Okay.

On December the 16th, oh, on December the 16th, 2024, the series was renewed for a third and fourth season, which is set to conclude with the latter. Okay, so the fourth season will be the last one. With this series order announcement, it was also announced that Rebecca Ferguson had been cast in a lead role.

Tim Robbins joined the cast in August 2021. And Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common, Harriet Walker, Avi Nesh, and Chinneza Uch joined in the following months. On July 27, 2024, it was announced at San Diego Comic Con that Steve Zahn had joined the cast for the second season.

Blimey, so when did they release the... Oh, the second series came out the end... What? Okay. Right, there's two more episodes. I didn't realize that.

Right, I thought that was the end. So there's two more episodes. The next one is the 10th.

And the one after that is the 17th. Oh, okay. So what I need to look at is some of the stars.

Stars. Rebecca Ferguson. See, there was a singer called Rebecca Ferguson that was in the X Factor.

I bet if you put in Rebecca Ferguson, there's a chance that she'll come up. Rebecca. Rebecca Ferguson.

No, it's... Oh, there is. They both come up. So Rebecca Ferguson, the actress, comes up.

But if you put in Rebecca Ferguson 10 years ago, or 15 years ago, the other Rebecca Ferguson wouldn't come up. Because, well, especially in the UK anyway. She's 41, born in the 19th of October, 1983, from Sweden.

Oh, okay. Oh, she started her career in 1999 with the Swedish soap opera Nya Tida, Nya Tida, Tid Tida, and made a motion picture acting debut in 2004 with the Swedish slasher film Drowning Ghost. She came to international prominence with her portrayal of Elizabeth Woodfill in the British BBC drama The White Queen, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a miniseries or television film.

So she starred opposite Tom Cruise in three of the Mission Impossible movies. Okay, didn't know that. She was in The Greatest Showman.

She was in Life and Dr. Sleep. Girl on a Train, science fiction. She was in Dune, in Dune 2. Wow, she's in some pretty big movies, pretty big things.

I wonder what Girl on a Train. It's Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson, so she was like the second star on that one. And look at, let's see, Life.

Where was she on that one? She was the co-star. Dr. Sleep. The co-star.

Dune. Wow, she was a co-star of Dune, which was a huge movie, wasn't it? The old movie. I reckon she'll be the star of Florence Foster Jenkins, I don't know why.

No. Well, she was in it. She's not even in the picture.

That's angered me. I wonder if I've got any messages from anybody. No.

I wonder if anyone's been listening to that actual podcast though as well. You know, the Bedtime Storytime podcast. Okay.

Because I've got a podcast, although it's, most people would probably listen to them on the main podcast that I have for everything. But I do actually have a Jason's Bedtime Storytime podcast. 96 listenable episodes, technically.

Are you telling me no one's listened? No one's listened to the new recordings on there, blimey. No. Wow.

They're missing out. They're really not. Oh well.

I think I'm going to do myself a nice ready break and a cup of tea. Yeah, it's time for food. Time for food.
