Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland and this is Sleep Hypnosis Weekly. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.
This is going to be a recording both for relaxation and also for sleeping deeply. If you're listening specifically just for the relaxation then I suggest you set your alarm to wake you up because there's a chance, a really good chance that you will drift off to sleep. If for no other reason than boredom of hearing me talking.
There will be two versions of this recording, one with and one without background music by Kevin MacLeod and his details will be in the description box. Now I'm going to ask you to just open your eyes if they're closed. I mean I normally would have my eyes closed by now so if you have closed your eyes I'd like you to open them and just look around.
Now if you're lying down on your bed you may well have your lights off so you might not be able to see much but you know roughly you know where things are in the room. Just noticing your surroundings and with your eyes open I'd like you to focus on how you physically feel. So for me I'm sitting in a reclined chair I can feel my body supported by the chair, my right hand is palm down on the armrest, my left hand is on my left thigh palm down.
I can feel my calf muscles as they're resting on the leg rest and if I lean back I can feel my head against the headrest being supported. Sometimes it's quite easy to get in touch with the physical sensations that you feel when your body is being touched for example by a chair, by a sofa, by a bed and the parts of your body that touch the bed and your head may be being supported by a pillow.
I'm not going to ask you to keep your eyes open but as you as you do this your eyes like you to focus on something.
So if you're lying down you can maybe focus on the ceiling and even if it's dark your eyes become accustomed to the darkness fairly quickly.
Then as you focus just on one thing maybe a part of the wall or the ceiling notice how your eyes feel you know that the muscles around each eye and noticing how your eyes seem to defocus just naturally because unlike watching a television or looking at a moving image reading or something like that when you just stare in at one point something almost changes within your eye and your brain realizes that you don't need you don't require all of the skills that the eye has to offer, the different types of focus, distance, close, colors, you don't need to even really feel connected to your eyes in that way.
And as you just focus on that spot on the wall or on the ceiling it does get a bit boring and your mind may start to drift just a little bit.
It may be even a case of you're thinking to yourself why am I focusing and looking at a wall why am I looking at the ceiling how come I haven't got my eyes closed like I normally would in this situation.
And part of the reason why I'm asking you to try and keep your eyes open is firstly because once your eyes do close they're likely to want to stay closed once you relax the muscles in and surrounding your eyes they will want to stay, remain relaxed relaxed which means opening them takes more effort than you're willing to put in and that's okay when you realize that when you actually do eventually close your eyes you'll experience a deep feeling of relief a deep sensation of just wanting to let go of all
your thoughts let go of all your worries and concerns allowing those thoughts to just dissolve but not completely not completely dissolved until you actually close your eyes and I know there's a possibility that some people listening to this will have already closed their eyes In fact, I'm personally finding it extremely difficult to keep my eyes open I've started to notice that my blinks are lasting longer and longer it's as if your eyelids have their own specific needs your eyelids need and require a sense of freedom to be able to let
go and be yourself and you know that by being yourself that in fact you want to close your eyes you want to relax you want to let go and if you haven't already closed your eyes I'm going to count from I've already started to drift and it feels really oh really feels nice counting down from 10 to 1 and at 10 the first number you can close your eyes open them again at 9 close them again at 8 open at 7 close at 6 as you continue that process to get
down to 1 and you may find that as you count down your eyes and your eyelids feel so grateful to you to relax deeply now 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 0 0 0 0 moving slowly feels as every second that passes in touch with this moment moment in time your body feels safe counting down again this time from 5 down to 1 so that the remaining stress dissolving and sinking deeper and there is no race
