Hello and welcome to Let Me Bore You To Sleep, the Thunday edition. Thunday, Thunday. It is 15 minutes past 6pm UK English time.

Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. Now, there is some background music, not, I mean downstairs, not like on the recording, there will be background music on the recording, depending on which version you listen to, but there's some new neighbours moved in downstairs, literally below me. Vinnie, can you go away please? Or rather, can you just stop knocking that bone against the leg of the table, the metal leg, not my metal leg, although if I was to have a false leg, I'd want it to be metal, really heavy duty, mechanical, some would almost say bionic.

So, how does some of one bionic leg, well I'm hearing some weird noises, I just blamed him for something that isn't him, it's downstairs, so there's a lot of sounds coming from downstairs that we don't normally get, because there hasn't been anyone living down there for a long time.

And, Vinnie's struggling to get used to the new sounds, so he's been barking a little bit excessively, no it isn't, Vinnie, go, go, go, take this, over there, that's it, that's it, take it away, good girl, and, so, one flat is vacated as it were, and another flat is taken up, so, the circle of life continues, I guess my friend's flat won't be taken over by a new person till, I don't know, January, February time, I guess, but, so there's quite loud music coming up from downstairs,

I don't know whether or not it's registered, I tried, I do have headphones, I did listen, but I couldn't, well to be fair I was eating a really crunchy cookie, so that's all I could really hear, maybe I should have done a sound test, before or after I was eating a cookie, yeah, too late now, unless of course I just reach over and pick up the headphones, but, I feel like the moment's gone, you know, I feel like there was the right time to do it, and, this isn't the right time anymore,

we just need to hope for the best, yeah, ooh, so, there's, I'm hearing, I'm hearing, and they might be having a, like a, welcome home, welcome house party or something, what do they call them things, so that might be what they're doing, I mean, normally, I think when people do that, they invite the local, the neighbours, just that way the neighbours can't complain about the noise, see, I didn't realise that, so, I was living in this place in, where was it, ooh, Upton Park, in London, Green Street, I think it was,

yeah, Green Street, and the, I was in this flat, a sublet, with my friend, and we had a knock on the door, probably only been there maybe a few weeks, and we opened the door, and this lady was knocking, knocking on the door, well, we didn't know it was a lady knocking on the door, until we opened the door, and even though she, I mean, she wasn't still knocking, but we assumed the fact that she was standing there, that she was the one doing the knocking, unless of course there was someone else there,

knocking, they heard us coming, and they ran, quickly ran away, but that just seems a bit strange, strange thing to do, unless of course they were, they might have been hiding on the ceiling, but again, oh, Logie, the big dog has just farted again, they are really bad farts, I mean, some would argue there's no good farts, I would, you know, I would disagree with that one, but, they're really, they're proper, they're gruff guffs, if you know what I mean, oh, and, very rough gruffs, rough guffs, I, I can't open the window,

because, well, first of all, it's like minus degrees, but I have had the window open all day, because of his farts, I'm trying to stop the noise from outside coming into the flat, but it is mainly just rising up through the floorboards, or through the floor, so I figured it must be very, very loud, for me to be able to hear it as loud as it is, because, generally, you can't hear, sort of standard volume music so much, if that makes any sense, but, I'm guessing, maybe, there's no,

not much in the way of furniture yet, so it'd be echoey, it sounds very echoey, but they've been playing Adele, which is, you know, it's good music, so I'm quite pleased, I mean, if they were playing, I don't know what kind of music would, bass, heavy, heavy bass music, you know, that shakes the entire building, that would just be the, that'd just be too much, really, I'd have to move out, so, yeah, hopefully, that won't happen, so they're down there, and then, my friend's flat will be, be new people living there,

so that'd be weird, two new people, all within a couple of months, the old person that lived there, the old, the original person, when I moved in, was a lady, and she passed away, so, then the flat got taken over, and I never really saw the people that lived there, so that was kind of it, really, I didn't have much contact, and they weren't very quiet, generally, so, yeah, that'd be interesting, perhaps that's not the right word, but, you know, it's a word, isn't it, what other things were I going to talk about, oh, yeah, I cut my toenails last week, like the week before, just, probably about Wednesday, last Wednesday week before, and what else exciting stuff's happening, Logie, Mr.

Fartypants over there, my friend's cousin is going to take him, so, he's, and he knows him, and he's got a kid, and Logie loves the kid, and the kid loves Logie, so, that's a really, going to be a really good home for him to be, go and live, and he'll be happy there, so that's, that's cool, I reckon Vinnie will pine for Logie, though, because he's had him here for, I know it's only been just over a week, and it'll probably be a couple of weeks, or four, maybe three weeks,

even, before Logie goes, but Vinnie's got used to him being here, and so, it's a weird dynamic that's happened, Vinnie's got confused, because Vinnie generally doesn't, he ignores me, doesn't do anything I say, generally, but he does what Logie tells him, in their language, so Logie's the alpha male over Vinnie, but I'm the alpha male over Logie, Logie does what I tell him, he's known me for eight years, and he listens to what I say, most of the time, Vinnie's confused, because the person that's above him, he realises that I'm above,

and the person he thought he was above, which is me, is actually above both of them, in the hierarchy, not above them, but, as in, that's really noisy down there, I hope you can't hear it, because if it's going to be like this, I won't be able to make any more recordings, oh dear, it's distracted me a bit, to be honest, I'm not really big into noise, yeah, or should we call it loud sounds, yeah, loud sounds, noise sounds a bit, like it's an irritation, because, you know,

it's a complete pleasure for me, so loud sounds, yeah, so I've been, today, I've been trying to work out how to do my website, and in the end, I've just deleted the website, because, basically, I was trying to find, I've been using this certain website, host, and it wouldn't allow me to upload the large files, so people could download them, and then, I thought, well, I'd try and do it by links, and I spent hours yesterday, and today, putting together this model, like, for the website, and,

having it so you could just click on where you wanted to go, very easy navigation, and then you can choose to play or download, but then, yeah, hey, hey, hey, the download links weren't working, wouldn't allow it, so, after messing around with all that stuff, I just decided, yeah, the podcasts are there, you can find the stuff, there's playlists on the SoundCloud, podcasts, and it's, it's all findable, hardly anyone goes on the websites, really, on my website is, I might get like a thousand visitors a month, you know,

or a thousand visits, maybe not even visitors, so it might be a few hundred visitors, and it's just, you know, what's this, it doesn't seem, it doesn't seem any point, you know, people, no, I really thought I'd got it sorted, really, because it was the, the, the phone, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,

the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,

the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, that's what I was doing, I was watching the boxing last night, and then I was boxing again this morning, early hours, and I woke up and I was really, was really struggling, and in the end I couldn't stay awake, I had to go, I fell, I went to sleep,

I paused it and then ended up watching it later, because I just couldn't do it, and also, you know it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early

when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when it's too early when the dog doesn't want to get out of bed, normally he's like, come on, let's go out, let's go out, let's do something but today, he was like, no, go away I mean normally as soon as I move, Finny's out of bed, he's jumping up, or Logie is as well, but today they were just like, nah, you can, no,

go without me just yeah I'm okay as I am so I'm not sure how fit he's gonna be where the when Logie goes to his new home I don't know I suppose one of my concerns is if he keeps barking so much and I start getting if I get complaints from the neighbors downstairs that's gonna cause some problems but he's he's proper yappy he's a little bit too much and it's got worse lately probably because there's now sounds from downstairs but there weren't before that's noisy isn't it can you hear

him I don't know why I choose to do it right under the table because it causes an echo as well but over the last I say three weeks the council have been like decorating and doing stuff to the flat downstairs so Vinnie's been barking at different sounds and I'm hoping that you know a lot of door slamming I'm hoping that he'll get used to it so it won't bother him anymore I mean sometimes the dust the bin disposal people whatever you want to call them when they come about 730 in

the morning whistling and shouting because it's part of their job description they have to be able to shout to each other early hours in the morning it's I think it's like a prerequisite before even applying for that job it used to disturb him and he used to like bark now don't care so that's good it's only taken him a year but it's good so I'm hoping although there has been some door slamming and he hasn't bothered now before if he heard the door slam I think he thought it was one

of his his friend coming up here whether Logie or my friend so he'd be all excited when in fact sometimes it wasn't it was the the one across the other another person slamming their door well now my friends not slamming this door so there's two other doors that are slamming now but the one downstairs the other one I think the doors I don't know I think it must have I don't remember going to door closing classes at school but I seem to be able to close the door without letting it

slam most of the time occasionally it does slam but most of the time I seem to have the ability to stop it from slamming and maybe that is my superpower maybe that is the only thing I'm actually good at in life that is my one skill being able to close doors quietly or what I like to call it let me think consideration yeah consideration not consideration consideration yeah so I try and give it a go and ironically is my friend downstairs stopped slamming his door because the person next to him started slamming their door and he realized how annoying it was I think he started complaining why does she keep slamming her door?

he slammed his door for like eight years let it slam which I just got used to it's like I'm not that bothered to be honest anymore it was a little bit annoying when I first moved in like what if you slam the doors and some may argue the fact that I'm still talking about it now nearly nine years later that perhaps I haven't quite moved on but the lady downstairs started slamming the door she never used to but regularly slam the door and he stopped slamming his door my friend because

he kind of realized how annoying it was it's not just the noise it shakes the building so heavy old doors and especially being the neighbor see I get the most bun of it if from the flat below he gets the most fun of it or he would have done from the flat next to him because they're connected the flat above him just has a normal door doesn't have the heavy doors that I've got so it's it's kind of weird because I kind of no no I no longer knew who was

coming in not that I need to know who's coming and going I'm not interested but sometimes I could like oh hear the door and I'd be ready like okay then I get knocked on the door like I don't know who it is I didn't hear the door slam this is just confusing hmm see it's Sunday did I go out today yeah I just went out I went out earlier I went to the petrol station to get some sugar and what else did I get oh some coffee as well because I

didn't have any coffee so I got some coffee and sugar so that's good that's two things because I was going to buy some sugar online on Amazon and I couldn't believe they had bags of sugar like 20 pound like in cash 20 pound money UK money now after thinking about what were they big bags or like you know the kind of bags that you would perhaps get in a industrial bakery but I'm not sure because I've noticed sometimes on Amazon you can pay something like you know a couple of pounds

for something and then if you keep looking you'll find a company that sells it for 40 50 times that amount sometimes for thousands of pounds like literally I don't like don't really understand who I mean are they just trying to get people that are so wealthy that they can't be bothered to know what the prices of things are I need a new I need a new tea cup let's just go for most expensive first I don't want to get any crap stuff or 15 grand yeah that'll do that'll be fine

when they could have got like a much better tea cup than the one they got like 10 pounds better quality or not I don't know I mean maybe the 15 grand one you'd think it would be better quality but 15 000 for a tea cup and it's weird I'm sticking with this because I don't know if it's true or not I've done no research I didn't know I was going to be talking about the prices of tea cups I didn't know how was I to know how could I have predicted

this I mean where where does it say that you know where is it written that one day I'll be sitting here talking about tea cups and the prices of tea cups and how they can be extortionate prices on amazon there's no way of knowing is there really I'm trying to think what else has happened today really not a lot um I'm not gonna I mean the website just bad enough of it really it's just not no one's really visiting it's just not really getting traffic and I don't think it's much

use you know hardly anyone downloads stuff from there anyway so and you can find stuff you know if you want to find old recordings and that just go to the soundcloud and it's all loads of playlists on there if you're interested in some of the older stuff that I've done you know like oh I wouldn't listen to number 369 and you can find that just on the playlists on the Let Me Bore You To Sleep podcast on soundcloud so it's all fairly easy and also the thing I should have done

was thank everyone I had a lot of um I had a few paypal gifts so I did post something on there but I just want to say thank you so I'm going to say thank you here which I really should have done at the beginning blimey I've tried to email everyone those that haven't been received a message I have tried but had a few problems I've had a few problems so let's have a look Bryn thank you the string family thank you very much Let Me Bore You To Sleep sir

my Mary says you're welcome so I did reply so I I'll just reply over on the here for you um over the years I've built up a mental description of your friend which probably had no relation to reality I decided that he was tall bald a bit younger than you um you know needing support but very gifted and intuitive of animals pretty much got it right to be honest he was tall um I wouldn't see I wouldn't call anyone balls I definitely wouldn't call him bald to his face he had

a bald patch but I've got a bald patch don't tell anyone it's a secret okay um I didn't realize it until last year I kind of knew there was potentially a little bit of a balding on the crown but it's only when I went into a an elevator a lift and there was mirrors all around it so I could see by looking in the mirror ahead of me what was happening behind me and to either side of me and at the top of me I was basically like this in a

mirrored cage basically and it's very prominent it's a bald patch it yeah I mean I like to think of it as balding because it's not completely hairless I'm sort of talking about my head by the way um but it is it yeah personally okay is so thank you ever so much for everyone for your messages and everything and uh for your paypal gifts and just your support your well wishes and also just for listening to the podcast and and just for being the best audience I have the best audience I've

said that before and I do believe that I have the I have the best podcasting audience there is may not be the largest but it's the best so there um what was I gonna say oh I was gonna say something I forget what it was it wasn't that important I mean I said the important stuff I just uh I do plan to get back to making recordings every day again like I used to and I know I haven't been that regular before you know even since the the problems I had

with the podcasts and having getting stuff deleted and then having to find a new podcast host so all that stuff definitely um you know mess things up a little bit for a short for a short while uh SoundCloud is no longer giving me proper stats so I can't see you know it's saying I've got like 3000 let's say downloads in a day and I go there and it's saying I've got 452 but not telling me where you know where they're from or anything up to a couple of weeks or up

to a week ago I was getting exact statistics by the hour so I'm not sure what's gone on I don't know if they've got there's a fault with the system or um I really don't know don't know I'm not that bothered to be honest with you I'm not that worried it just it don't matter really you know it's as long as as long as a few people are benefiting from me talking rubbish for an hour a day you know um another thing I thought about doing I don't know what you

think I thought about getting my thought about playing on my organ and while I talk no I thought about getting myself an organ like a keyboard it's not an organ is it really it's a keyboard um like a digital keyboard I've had a few in the past and I've been playing while playing around with some uh AI ones online and I do know my way around a few chords and I've got I do I've had a little bit of experience with music in the past but it's a long long time

ago but I kind of know what I like I listen to a lot of classical music and because of what I'm looking for for background music for this these podcasts what I might do I just imagine there's people all around the world going oh no no we like it as it is don't don't mess with something that works no well I don't know I mean it I mean I was gonna say it may not be it won't it's not going to be on the same level as a professional musician such

as um Kevin Macleod whose music I use open source by the way it's it's copyright free but I maybe maybe I could come up with something maybe you never know I mean if I did and I just added it to the background and put together something and I didn't tell anyone that I produced the music people might think it's okay but now I've mentioned it I guess some people will be imagining that it will be like that kind of thing and I mean admittedly after just doing that off the top

of my head I think it sounds pretty good but you know needs a little bit of work maybe um maybe a trombone or two I mean sometimes I think just like a like like you know just in the background doesn't have to be necessarily um a big orchestral thing you know maybe just some very mellow chords perhaps I don't know or I don't know I'm not sure perhaps I should just stick with it stick with what I've done but uh YouTube have told me that the ones the recordings I've got

with music aren't really I'm breaking their copyright rules even though it's copyright free and also with the videos as well the using the video software story blocks so I have to undo all that and delete all them off there because they're putting adverts on and it's just no good I mean if in the future I can have adverts but at the very beginning once the you know YouTube is if it takes off but to have adverts in the middle or at the end but like various times in the middle it's

no good for people that are listening if they're on my YouTube channel so what I'll do is I'm gonna delete all the recordings of music and make new videos which will just have an image a nice image but just have an image with the audio and I'll be creating that using Canva which is an app so yes I'll be just creating the video with that but just be just one image but it'll be an original image and my original talking me talking with no music so that's what I'll be doing

on the on the YouTube channel which means it's it's never really going to be monetizable because YouTube have a thing now where you have to I think have a video you have to have an advert in the middle the beginning and the end something like that there's the that's what someone said that on a YouTube video they said YouTube would change their thing so when I was on YouTube properly years and years ago we've had the adverts at the beginning and that was it so you know there'd be no adverts

during because that would disrupt the recording or the the experience and then no adverts at the end either but I don't I don't think that's any longer an option now of course for people that subscribe to YouTube and pay the monthly fee of I don't think it's 11 pound 12 pound can watch without any adverts at all so yeah it's it's but then those people don't I don't think anyone gets paid so if only people without adverts watch the YouTube channel that has adverts then I'm pretty sure that the the

YouTube channel wouldn't make any money because no adverts would be played that's my understanding it could be wrong maybe there's some kind of sharing of the payment similar to maybe what they do with Spotify I think they pay like a penny for every thousand plays to big stars but because they get billions of plays they can make up to three four hundred pound a year it's great must be really weird so when you think that how how big some of the stars are and some of this haven't got that they

if it was if there was around 20 years ago they'd just be they'd be making so much more money because the public would be buying CDs or 30 years ago 40 years I mean there's a time when you could have one hit album one hit record especially in America and you set for life especially if it's a Christmas song and you wrote it wow I mean the Pogues Shane McGowan do you know the the Christmas song they did even though it's not Christmasy or it is it but they made I

think he made seven hundred thousand dollars a year from that song because it's played it's being used in movies and it's played can continuously I guess around the western world whams white Chris no um last Christmas and apparently the biggest selling song of all time is white Christmas by Bing Crosby and he hasn't been around for a while has he so I don't know I guess the estate his estate makes the money from that what is weird though okay I don't know what you think about this there's a really really

popular song in the UK I don't know how popular it is in other countries but it's from it's called stay another day stay now baby if you got to go away don't think I could take the pain won't you stay another day stay now stay now and it's east 17 and they released that in the early 90s and it got to it wasn't it wasn't as my okay this is my memory of the situation it was not a Christmas song they released it probably in November but it was so popular

it was such a really popular song and it got to number one it was a number one for got a good few weeks including Christmas so they added a few jingles few jingle bells to the song and changed the video to include snow and stuff and they were on top of the pop standing around a piano dressed in Christmas things I do believe well Tony Mortimer is the man who wrote the song it was his over his group but he he wrote the songs for the group for the band and

it was a boy band and they're very very popular very successful but Brian Harvey was the lead singer and I'm not you know I just I have a belief and it seems to doesn't really be upheld the person who sings a song makes the song so Brian Harvey is the reason that song was successful because he did the vocals of course the song wouldn't exist without the man who wrote it but there's a real like okay the idea this song like I think the person that wrote it makes hundreds of

thousands of pounds every year in royalties because of Christmas it gets in the charts every year in this country probably makes half a million if not more good good for him you know good brilliant I just think that Harvey should get some money as well he should be maybe not the full amount maybe not as much as the person who wrote it but the person who wrote it it can be sung and it has been sung I'm pretty sure by other people as well so you know throughout his life he

might have 20 different people sing that song and get royalties for it and adverts and movies all that stuff so the person who sung it surely he should be able to get royalties from the band sales so every Christmas when you know when it gets in the charts him and the other the other two band mates as well I would think would get royalties but they don't as far as I'm aware but Harvey's the one that sung he's the voice and I wish them all well you know I've got no

issue I don't know them but I just it's just it's a shame Harvey doesn't get his it just seems weird that he's you know he was completely oh man the newspapers went to town on him at the height of their success and he got sacked from the band it was a real proper hatchet job on him and he didn't deserve that he was just he was a young man he was showing off just being young you know he's like he was only 19 20 21 something and they really went to

town on him and then a few years later he others you know they went they went after him again it's just like man so he's at home and he's having to see adverts playing that song knowing that you know listening to his own voice singing and he's not he should be able to earn a living from that a really good living from that one song I know some people say no but it's a songwriter what about Elvis Presley what about Cliff Richard what I'm gonna say what about Gary Glitter I

know what about really famous singers that didn't write their own songs Madonna I think she might write some of her songs but you know people that are really Mariah Carey Beyonce again that maybe she does write her own songs but you know it's a lot of really really huge mega star singers Whitney Houston's another one but then you've got people that did write their own songs like Prince Michael Jackson he did write his own songs near the end didn't he sort of once he turned solo he started getting involved in

the writing but I think I'm not sure if he wrote anything on the Thriller album but after that he I think he did get involved in the writing don't quote me on that well why would you why would you need to you ever get into conversation about whether or not Michael Jackson wrote his own songs like wait a minute I'd like to quote this weird man that I sometimes listen to when I'm in bed he said let me quote I don't know Elvis Presley you know there is no there will

never be another Elvis Presley he was I realized in 50 years time maybe there'll be a lot of people won't even know who he is but there probably is still people that don't know who he is the younger generation maybe I don't know but he didn't write his own songs I'm pretty sure he got royalties from those songs I'm pretty sure his estate still gets royalties from the sales of those records even though he didn't write the songs and when a song is used in an advert or in a movie

I'm pretty sure his estate gets paid so that's one of the things I quite liked about Wham because you know nearly all of songs on Wham did George put Andrew Ridgely on there as a co-songwriter for most of the Wham hits don't quote me on that because it might be a lie and I thought wow isn't that good isn't that nice of him I mean he might well have been involved in the writing but whether was or not well if he wasn't then it means he's got royalties coming because things

if you well look last Christmas the amount of money coming from that every year because that's always in the charts I think it's in the top 10 as we speak in the UK of England now I don't know about in America I know Wham were big over there though when they were popular when they were well well they were when they were a band boy band I don't know was it Pepsi and Shirley the backing singers so I thought they were part of it they were part of Wham,

Wham included them and then they became Pepsi and Shirley separate like when when Wham split up but I thought Wham was all of them not because you see them perform on television during the heyday and it's all four of them two females two it was George Michael Andrew Ridgely and Pepsi and Shirley and they weren't backing singers in some of the video like they're actually involved George was the singer but they were all you know sort of interacting it's not like they were just random people they were there with them

they were in a video where you know wet Christmas wet wet drink what white Chris last Christmas and I just thought they were part of Wham it's amazing that Andrew Ridgely because he did have an album and it just wasn't successful I never understood it because he was he was a heartthrob wasn't he well both of them was but he in some ways he was even more of a heartthrob than than George Michael and he looks pretty much the same now 80 years later he's it doesn't look that different you

know he's aged really well and yeah he's got a little bit less hair but hey I'm not one to judge people's with hair loss because one day I may have a bald patch one day I shaved my beard off just over a week ago and I like having a beard but don't like having all that gray there's something about all that gray that's making me just and I've had a beard for most of my adult life I've shaved at times had to shave various jobs I've had when I was a

stripper a model professional swimmer you need you need for you know gliding you need to have a clean a clear face really and makeup research oh anyway so I don't know it bugs me every year this time of year I start thinking about Brian Harvey and like he should just get his dues you know because I know it's the songwriter and everything you know if without the songwriter there's no song but without the singer there's no song I mean if if every if every year the songwriter came on and just

read out the words to the song hey now hey now don't you know it's been too long girl now I just want to stay down uh why don't you stay another day yeah ooh um it wouldn't work I don't think why do you didn't um not Kenny Everett who played the ping-pong for Peter Sellers Peter Sellers did a a song I don't know if he it was in America as well but it's cool he did a Beatles song Hard Day's Night and he dressed up as like a Dickensian Dickensian kind

of character like it's been a hard day's night and he just did it and it was I think it was a hit this is before I was around I think it was in the 60s it might have been in the early 70s but I think it was in the 60s you all right mate anyway I'm going to go I'm going to go thank you ever so much remember to be kind to yourself because you do deserve to be happy be gentle with yourself lots of love and I shall speak to you tomorrow and bye-bye-bye-bye
