I don't think you deserve to know. You don't You haven't earned the right to know what my website is. It's jasonnewland.com. I'm in the middle of, well in the process of rebuilding it.
I know I said this yesterday, probably the last few recordings I've done, but I have been doing some work on it today but I'll be honest with you I can't be bothered. Isn't it weird? Isn't it? I can't be bothered. There's so much to do.
There's so much work involved in rebuilding that thing. Basically what happened is I had to Shopify My website was hosted by Shopify and it was pretty good actually. It was getting people downloading my stuff and ordering my stuff.
I had hundreds and hundreds of I don't know how many I'm going to see if I can see how many all fulfilled all fulfillment reviews all it's not going to tell me how many quite a few though quite a few quite a few 1000 blimey so 1001 all the way to all the way to oh blimey ok ok analytics orders to 1236 so during a period that I had my website hosted with Shopify I had 236 separate orders downloads of recordings and among those there was people ordered sometimes 17 items
and more so that's the people registered customers how many do I have not everyone subscribed but a few people did a few people subscribed email subscriptions I used to know how to work all this I haven't been on here for so long I've forgotten 294 customers different customers if I just put one subscribed just subscribed add filter email subscription status no that's not good anyway I don't care it's not really that important so I have I basically moved from there what happened is I deleted everything from that website and then
the next day I went back to them and said can you just put it back to how it was and they said no I said can you please I said no there was thousands of pages I've spent a year building the thing they said tough I said go on please can you just go back in time I don't mean literally go back in time but quite often the servers you can go back and reset it I can do that with my podcast but no they said can't do it I said
please and they said we have other customers to speak to bye now of course there wasn't that sound because we use mobile phones now but you know I was going back in time to using landlines of course they weren't called landlines back then they were just called phones they were called landlines by the military I say the military I'm not saying I was in the military but I was in the sea cadets no one has ever thanked me for my service ever and I was a security guard so I know
technically it's not the military but I was working with a lot of ex-military doing that job and I also did have a uniform and a walkie talkie and a big torch and boots so I kind of felt quite militant ish and during that job we used to talk about the landline if the CB radio because quite often people could tune into that and hear the conversations and they'd say call me on the landline because it was personal maybe they wanted me to get some cakes and bring them to the office
something personal like that call me on the landline Newland or 321 whatever the number was I was given and yeah no one ever thanked me for what I did I didn't do much but a nice thank you would have gone somewhere now little Vinnie's done a weird thing he's stacked all of his bits and bobs into a pile all his little bones remnants of a bone just little things all in this neat little pile for some reason and now he's spread the pile out again who knows who knows what's going
on in his brain so anyway then I moved from the website to a different website host but that was it was just a very basic podcast you know which is okay but I couldn't really do much with it it was just like okay there it is and hmm not much good for the old recordings I've got because even with a podcast you know if you think oh I want to listen to something from 2019 or 2020 good luck finding it on the podcast you know most podcast hosts only hold up
to 250 of the most recent recordings 250 is quite a lot for some people but for me not so much you know I've got thousands thousands I mean even look at my website jasonnewland.com meh deep sleep whisper er hours worth of recordings on the deep sleep whisper Let Me Bore You To Sleep 6,900 6,000 slurring 6,000 I've not even drunk a whole bottle of whisky yet 6,920 hours and deep relaxed sleep hypnosis daily 3,301 hours you know it's you're not going to be able to find the really old stuff necessarily
not easily anyway so what I have done this still jasonnewland.com but I've done something different it's very basic at the moment there isn't even a banner at the top at the moment it's just deep sleep whisper hypnosis image Let Me Bore You To Sleep and relax sleep and hypnosis daily there's those 3 images of the podcast so you just click on one and it will take you to the latest recordings well technically the only one that's got the latest is the Let Me Bore You To Sleep and it's yesterday's one
1048 songwriter that was the name of that one so if I click on there you can you can stream it and you can also download it for free I'd like to charge to be honest but you can download it for free now I'm not sure how I'm going to progress with this website but the plan is to for the Let Me Bore You To Sleep go all the way back to number one so have every single recording on there and it's just the ones without music because I mean it's 1048
well now 1049 including this one by the way if you're not wondering if you are wondering what that strange scratching sound is it is my little vinegar on the floor I'm not sure what he's doing oh he's yeah he's trying to he's chewing something let's just say that I don't want to say what it is he's chewing because it's it's a little bit gross really he's like an abattoir down there so he'll so I'm going to have every recording on this website now I don't know I've had a few ideas
what shall I do what shall I do shall I just let people download the ones without music shall I let people download the ones with music which means there will be so many different pages so many different things it's not really letting me allow people to download to put more than one well I can do more than one but it's not letting me put I don't know why actually to be honest but it's not being very flexible with how many I can upload at once to each recording to download should
be up to 5 gigabytes but I've tried to do 4 recordings and it struggles whether it's the website whether it's the internet I don't know so at the moment I'm just uploading the recording without any music and I've got down to 1028 so I've done 20 I mean they're all on there but all I've done is just basically created the pages and now I'm starting to fill in the information so does that make sense so I'm down to 1028 well I've done 1029 1028 is the next one to do and
it's alright you know it is what it is what it is what it is you know it's it's going to take a while yeah 1029 it definitely looks much better once I've put the I keep having to check how it is on the phone because let's face it it's where most people will be viewing the website and it's so I need to see how it works ok right so if I just go to the website it's got collection 3 click on let me boil the sleep and there's 2 4 6

to the exciting things you're going to talk about today or on you know on the edge of a seat stuff but not a lot really happened took Vinnie out he's been out three times today I think so far and I'll take him out again after I've done this and I'll take him out again before I go to bed so he normally does 4 between 4 and 6 walks a day they're not always long walks sometimes just to the park for a quick poo and then I'll see if he needs to
go to the toilet and then we come home did you see what I did then did you see it it was a joke so I ain't done a lot really have not done a huge amount today worked on a website fixed 20 pages out of 1048 just for the Let Me Bore You To Sleep and it's a mountain to climb but then you know should we how can I how can I earn a living doing this is there any way is it possible it's just because as I'm getting older as
we all are you know aging I'm aging my eyesight isn't that great so I've got no idea how old I actually really look I mean wow that's why I would never get my eyes lasered first of all I've seen too many science fiction movies to want lasers pointed towards my eyes seen the damage they do to spaceships but secondly I don't really want to see how old I've really got too many really's in that sentence maybe but that was something my nan said not about how many times I say the
word really she said to me when she had her eyes lasered she said I couldn't believe how old I looked not about me about herself I was only I probably was in my 30's middle 30's and she she hadn't yeah she'd never had her eyes lasered before she'd worn glasses the whole time that I knew her so you know for most of her life really or at least from the ages of like 30 or 40 probably you know I was born when she was probably in her 40's and yeah when she she no she was probably about 50 when I was born and so 50,
60, 70 80, 90 40's yeah she was about 50 years old when I was born so I'd always known her to be wearing glasses I don't know if she wore them all the time she might take them in the shower I don't know I didn't just wasn't that close to her you know she liked me as a friend it's just she'd never kind of seen herself with clear eyes for a long time and then she had that macular whatever thingy that's caused well she ended up blind actually at the end
but she it was when she did have the laser treatment it cleared her eyesight like really made it really good for the first time in decades and she did say that I can't believe how old I look but you are old probably not a good thing to say but you know she was in her 80s and she wasn't not saying 80s old but kind of is it's not I don't think it's an insult I don't think when I'm 80 if I'm 85 and someone says 80 that's old I don't know
if I'd take that as an offence like it's not old 87 is old 85 I'm a youngster I'm middle aged yeah if you live to be 160 it is old I've got a neighbour and I called him elderly I didn't mean it insultingly wise erm just I mean admittedly I just did shout it through his letterbox and ran off but he's the same age as my dad he's nearly 80 years old I was like elderly but at the same time I'm not saying it thinking that I'm young because you know
I'm 50 years old now and it's a little while since I was 35 just a little while just a short period and let's face it we all like short periods don't we I don't know what that means so if you if you got up from your chair and danced around the ceiling if if is it an insult I don't know I don't really like being called old but I do call myself old maybe it's different if it's something you call yourself you don't necessarily want other people to call you that
I mean when I was in Thailand there was a person I was spending time with and she said oh you've got a big nose I said oh I've got a big nose she said you've all got big noses I thought what do you mean you've all got big noses how many people are you seeing, how drunk are you and she said no are you English people, are you white people I think she did say that,
are you white people you've all got big noses and I was like wow I agreed with her because it made me feel better about myself but you know compared to her very very tiny nose and I was like ok so all she saw when she saw English people or American people or people that were with paler skin I don't know what they call them anymore Caucasian or whatever she's like big noses I mean there's a little bit of racism potentially I don't know but I thought wow so she wasn't singling
me out thinking I'm just another person with a big nose wow she saw everyone as having a big nose not in a bad way she didn't care but it's just the way it is in the same way as and I can't finish that sentence in the same way that maybe yeah I can't finish that sentence I'm trying to think of a way that we might see other people a big group of people but yeah can't say it out loud I can say it if someone says it about me but I
can't but there's those cliches isn't there I mean you can't even as a compliment say something now without it coming back I've heard I hear people have discussions on the radio or in conversations and this bloke he was actually trying to explain how he was a fan of Jewish people and he was complimenting Jewish people in his mind when he was saying these things out loud and he was saying they're so good with money they're so good at business and the opposite person was saying you're a hermaphrodite no not a
hermaphrodite whatever the word is anti antisemite you're an antisocial antisocialite or something and he said no I'm not I was paying a compliment and the lady said no because it's a trope isn't it weird I remember the word trope but not antisemite I think you call that selective memory it's a trope called antisocial you're an antisocialite because it's a trope saying that we're good with money I thought it was a compliment no because that's part of the narrative do you love the word narrative it's used so often yeah it's all
part of the narrative oh bless yeah it's part of the narrative that's what people I think when they're trying to sound intellectual and clever use the word narrative that's what I seem to notice I mean to me I've noticed that actually the narrative is a lot nah nah nah that's all I hear really it's like robust everything's robust what was the other thing not fit for purpose it was that when that was a really big saying do you know you're just repeating yourself from a couple of recordings ago you were
talking about this before yeah it hasn't gone away it's still happening I'm seeing people that I actually almost respect on television or on the radio using the word robust which they're never used to before I know they're never used to because I notice that there's things I notice and when people start doing something different I notice patterns sometimes not on wallpaper not in carpets but sometimes in speech in behaviour or I don't know why it's another thing I can't really remember what people tell me I'm not that interested in what
someone's told me generally I mean from the past but if they contradict themselves or they lie and say something different to what they originally told me even if it was 20 30 years ago suddenly I'm alert and I notice it even though I'd forgotten the conversation from 30 years ago what's that about isn't that strange it's I notice that with the counselling is that I used to kick in sometimes because people would backtrack and say different things but also no matter who I saw no matter how many people I saw
and how long it'd been even if I'd seen someone for 3 weeks because they'd been on holiday or whatever and even not really remembering why they were coming in because if you see too many people you can't always remember every individual person's story and everything not story but you know they weren't reading each other's books you know it wasn't story time but you know I mean like a counselling session you can't necessarily remember everything from 20 odd people but as soon as they sat down and started talking everything came back
like every practically every detail weird isn't it I mean it's good it's good I mean I guess it's just a memory thing I don't know I'm not sure if I would be able to do that now because that was something that I was doing regularly you know day in day out, week in week out for about 4 years so I kind of maybe 4 or 5 years I don't know 4 years so yeah I did it from 2007 I started college 2008 yeah so 2008 was the first year 2008 alright
so I didn't get all my hours in the first year but I got all my hours in the second year so the end of 2009 that's when I got my yeah I got my diploma in person centred counselling after 2 years of the university course and then I did another year, the third year was for the actual BA Honours undergraduate degree so 2009 December is when I started counselling and I stopped in April I think April May 2014 maybe later,
maybe in the summer time summer time but it was like early maybe May June but I think it was around May time 2014 so what was that so I counselled in so from December 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 so it was 4 and a quarter years or something I guess quite a long time actually considering I earned absolutely practically absolutely practically very little not enough to live on not enough at all but I got through it and part of the clients that I saw,
especially for the first year was volunteering and I continued to volunteer for the whole period blimey is that true or am I making this up maybe it's 4 I'm losing track, maybe it's not 2014, maybe it's 2013 when did I move in here does anyone know, any ideas was it 2014 or 2015 I can't remember, this is weird isn't it how am I going to be able to remember so I lived in that house when I was at university then they evicted me at the beginning of 2011 so then I
moved into another place for a year till the beginning of 2012 and I lived there until blimey I don't know I lived there until I moved here now I moved here in either 2014 or 2015 now next year will be 2024 which will be 9 years that I've lived here in April so it must have been 2015 April that I moved here which means yeah it was about April time 2014 that I stopped counselling so I did it for 4 years and probably 4 or 5 months blimey so it's it's
weird isn't it it's just kind of strange to think that I ever did that I used to sit in a room nodding my head pretending to listen I'm joking I didn't pretend I let them know I wasn't, I just used to read a book, smoke a cigar you know look at my phone, just normal stuff I don't I always had this idea you know if I was no good at it I would stop now I didn't have an option of whether to stop or not because all the funding got cut gradually when,
I don't want to get all into politics but let's I just readjusted myself in the chair I'm pretty sure I didn't used to make that sound 20 years ago there's something about middle aged where you have to make a grunting sound when you sit down or a straining sound when you go to stand up also you know like walking up stairs like turning into chore almost pretend to be out of breath when I'm not it's like oh although there is one thing that I really do enjoy I always did enjoy
it and there's times I wish I was doing an adult only podcast because then I could just put in some really silly jokes but that would be inappropriate and one of the things that I really have always enjoyed but I probably enjoy it more now if I do it is you know when you get home after being out I guess generally that's when you do get home isn't it after being out you don't get home after still having been home because then you'd be home you wouldn't have got home but
when you get back there's a few different variations of this is the one I was thinking of really is just when you sit down and maybe you take your shoes off now I don't kick my shoes off I don't like sit down and just kick my shoes off onto the floor it's not because it's messy because if you saw where I live you'd see how messy this is I'm a very very untidy person I am I'll admit it there's no point in lying well I can lie but what's the point
although I do lie a lot so I guess I could have just why didn't I lie about that I pretended I was a counsellor so that was all I pretended that I'm English the simple fact is I'm actually from Iceland I just put on a different accent I'm recording this from a monastery these were all pre-recorded about 25 years ago so I'm not even around anymore I'm in a monastery, still I'm in a different monastery now to where I was when I recorded these there's not so much a monastery more jungle,
I live in a little house, tree house well that's what I planned to do but yeah this is it's about 1995 yeah it's 95 now but when you listen to it I don't know what it will be so yeah I was I'm in my 80s now probably blimey, I was only 22 when I recorded this isn't it weird though because you think about it now there's not that many people in the entire world that has got as much recording as me there are other people that have done hundreds and thousands
of hours there's not a huge amount of people that have done that that amount that much you know and yeah there are some of course there's some that have done way more than I'll ever do you think of people that do radio shows and they do a radio slot for 30, 40 years and they're on the radio 5 days a week for 3 hours I mean but then those recordings weren't kept probably these are kept these are all stored and the idea that one day you might be listening to this
right now not right now but like well yeah right now in your time zone wherever it is this might be in like 50 years time it might be 2000 23 24, 25, 26 27, 28, 29 30, 31, 32 33, 34, 35 36, 37, 38 39, 40, 41 42, 43, 44 45, 46, 47 48, 49, 50 51, 52, 53 yeah I'm still continuing 54, 55, 56 57, 58, 59 60, 61, 62, 63 64 65, 66 67, 68, 69 70,
71 72 73 2000 2000 and what was it again 69 and it's like wow that's a long time away and I'll be in my 50 years yeah I'll be blimey I'll be over 100 100 100 now my hope is the way that technology is you know growing and expanding and getting amazing providing the you know the country the people in charge embrace it and technology is embraced by the medical community without them trying to sort of make money and stuff which I know is obviously important to them if I mean
the possibilities are phenomenal phenomenal to the extent of it would just be a case of just replacing a part that needs replacing you know simple procedure and then just move on and carry on for another 20 years till you need another bit replaced so well Vinnie just heard someone downstairs and he started to bark so I got up just to check there's no one at the door there wasn't anyone at the door and I came back inside the living room and I closed the door and I came back and here
I am now tell me that that wasn't an interesting story the thing is I'd forgotten what I was talking about now and as I sat down I banged my elbow on the bookcase behind me not best pleased with that if I'm honest how strange 10 hours oh ok that's fine no I just saw something I thought wow what the heck er blimey so today Sunday I don't normally get many downloads on a Sunday but it's ok it's alright it's about average this time of year things start to pick up and
I guess not necessarily September but once the winter kicks in I know it's not winter everywhere this time of year I know it's autumn now but you know I know in Australia it's the summer isn't it December November December January time I can't even get my head around that it just doesn't it just can't get my, it's weird I understand it cognitively but the idea that it's summer when it's snowing not that we get a huge amount of snow here usually we had one week of snow last year a lot
of snow but one week and that's the week I got Vinnie it was near the beginning of December I got him on a Saturday or was it a Sunday Saturday afternoon I think yeah Saturday evening and then it started snowing on the Sunday I think and it snowed and it snowed very very heavy and because it was so cold outside it was freezing outside the snow settled and it didn't melt so I was traipsing around walking Vinnie for the first week and then the following I think it carried on until
about it didn't snow anymore but the snow was still on the ground and it was turning to ice and you know stuff like that and I was wearing my big boots and I didn't really have any problems I managed to keep my balance and everything and I think it was a Monday or a Tuesday the following week it all thawed because it rained and I guess the temperature was not quite as low and every bit of snow disappeared and that's the night I slipped down the stairs and fractured my back
in two places because I slipped on the on the water on the stairs so it's weird walking around on the ice outside on the snow no problems weird inside different matter ever since then I hold on to the banisters of the staircase I hold on always you know I don't mean like when I'm in bed when I'm walking up and down the stairs that is I carry the banister around me when I go shopping that would be weird standing on the bus holding a wooden pole so it's something that I
have to attach to a wall as well it has to go back so yeah like carrying half the building with me dragging it along just so I can go to the doctors so yeah not ideal but it was just very strange, very surreal very unusual we know what the word surreal means ok alright, blimey wow so what was I talking about before I can't remember I really can not it would be easier to say I don't remember I cannot remember, I don't mind you, cannot,
do not it's the same but then what's this there's a phrase that's phrased differently that means exactly the same thing in America and in England but it's phrased opposite but it means the same thing so in England we say if someone is saying something look, I couldn't care less yeah in America I could care less I could care less it means exactly the same thing I couldn't care less, I could care less technically they should mean different things shouldn't they I could care less,
I couldn't care less that's an enigma I do believe a linguistic black hole a spatial revolution of physics and orange juice I don't know it's weird isn't it I could care less, I couldn't care less they're opposites but they're the same they are the same don't you feel that's strange or could you care less I could care even less than this but of course we're like no I couldn't care less that's the least I could care there's no room for any other caring but it means the same thing it's said
in the same way unless of course I've missed something which wouldn't be the first time not the first time and the fourth time I've been counting yeah what was I talking about I was talking about something I can't remember I started thinking yeah I was thinking about the future and it would be nice to be able to sort of move on and maybe earn a living doing this you know like have a normal life go and live somewhere nice just you know you know what I mean yeah yeah and I
just wonder how to go about it because I'm not really a business person I'm not I'm definitely no good at money and I just wish there was a way something where it's sustainable I mean I would quite like to go and maybe live in Thailand or Iceland or Norway or maybe just travel I mean the main obstacle other than finances is Vinnie because I probably can't take him with me if I travel around but I don't want to travel around like I don't want to be climbing any mountains I don't
want to be swimming in any rivers or canoeing or bungee jumping or you know any of those kinds of things it's not really my thing I'm more of a stay in a hotel no camping, no tents no thank you it's more just not necessarily staying in a hotel if I was going to stay somewhere if I was going to be in a place for a period of time for a few months then you know ideally probably get an apartment but wherever I went, providing there's internet access and I've got my equipment,
at least my phone but if I can take my microphone and I've got a couple of different microphones I've got a little one that I can use with the phone with the iPhone I can still produce the recordings I could make videos if I wanted so there's no reason why I can't do this anywhere I don't need to be sitting at this desk in the middle of nowhere which is where I live I know where I live, I'm not lost this is a living room, the kitchen is next door it's not the wilderness I'm not walking for miles I don't want to see mirages what are you looking for?
My bedroom where is it? No, I know where everything is I need a toilet, I need a wee wee just do it in the sand oh, didn't think about that in fact, aim it on the cactus they need some something in the cactus get off me dirty what do you think you are?
but anyway um that takes me back to my youth cactuses they were the only plants that I ever had that seemed to flourish yeah I used to have a few cactuses when I was younger and I don't even know why maybe I went through a period of enjoying cacti maybe who knows I don't understand why I did half the things I did blimey yeah so I could literally do this anywhere pretty much in the world somewhere nice I don't want to you know I don't want to just be living in
a in the wilderness I said the word wilderness too many times I don't want to live in the middle of a desert in a tent on my own without anything no shops, I don't want to be living like that but at the same time I could be anywhere providing it's affordable I can't stay in the Ritz and I'm pretty sure that I couldn't go and live in Dubai because it's quite costly but there's loads of places I could live and it just seems a shame with my age it's not even
going abroad necessarily there's loads of nice places in this country that I could live there's a few places that I'd like to visit a couple of places I'd quite like to live maybe for a while I think if it wasn't for the heat in Thailand I probably would have tried to move there like last year or thought about it what can I do to get this done but I'm not great with heat I've not been I've been born into a relatively cold country this is not a hot country it gets
hot at times in the summer very hot days but generally it's not it's not a hot country and it gets very cold at times for months on end sometimes it gets cold so I just I'm not some people love the heat they're born here and they love the heat they sit on a beach and just absorb the heat and absolutely adore it I'm not really one of them I've never been too suited to it really I don't know what it is but I have sat on the beach when I was
younger the last time I sunbathed was probably late 80s that's a long time the last time and I actually uncovered myself sun I was going to say swimming costume swimming shorts or whatever but I never since then never ever uncovered myself which is weird because in a sense that's probably I was probably my slimmest back then I didn't have any fat on me at all, zero fat but I was very self conscious about being too skinny as I got older into my 20s I was still slim but I was bigger,
a little bit bigger but I still wouldn't take my clothes off I did take my clothes off at times, I'm just saying I wouldn't generally go to the beach I mean why do people go into a public place to get undressed I've never really understood that you ever been in a shop buying clothes and you go and get changed and you forget that the curtain has not been pulled and you're literally getting undressed and other people can see you or should I rephrase that you ever been in a clothes shop you're getting undressed and you've pretended that you thought that the curtain was closed yeah I did see someone once actually getting,
I think they were getting undressed they were with a friend or someone and the person pulled open the curtains and the other person was practically undressed screamed screamed and the other person I think they said oh sorry I mean that was the whole story so there wasn't really much else to say about that but it was quite funny I mean you might say how I was quite lucky not lucky but it was quite it sounds a bit weird so I was lucky to see that to witness it because it was
quite a funny situation but I had to stand there for eight hours before anything like that happened so you know I had to wait for a long time so you know I'm committed to my art so what's next what's next is I'm going to say bye bye I feel a little bit hungry but not hungry hungry but a little bit hungry you know like I've got food to eat but I'm not like ravished I'm not at all I'm more radished than ravished I like radishes but my stomach doesn't really like
hot stuff and even green the onions you know the onions that are quite hot what are they called not Brussels sprouts onions but not onions like the round ones that you can juggle and stuff onions what are they called they're called onions but they're long they've got a shoot on them shoot O O T not I T like a bulb white bulb and green long it looks a little bit like how you imagine a meteorite would look if you could stop it mid air and magnify and then change its colour
