Hello and welcome to Let me bore you to sleep. My name's Jason Newland, my website's jasonnewland.com and please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. Can you hear little Vinnie making little yawny noises.

It is the cutest sound in the world to me. I thought I'd better say to me because obviously I don't want people thinking wait a minute that's not as cute as the sound of of my goldfish or whatever so yeah. I don't know if you can hear that.

He's on his bed which is on the sofa and I basically I woke up very early today but I did go to bed quite early. I'm in bed normally by about I was in bed by half 10 last night and that's about average for me these days. The day before I went to bed it was just after eight o'clock which is that's a particularly early night.

That's too early and I was tired so I just did it but I realized something and it's this is just basic basic stuff. I haven't really been eating much lately and part of the reason other than laziness is that I lost a little bit of weight which I'm really pleased about and well I've lost a bit of fat because I'm slimmer like in the waist. I'm not slim I'm uh so yeah uh so you know it's kind of I've been quite pleased with that and the two main things I think that have had an impact on me not just reducing my weight but also keeping it off.

I weighed myself yesterday and I'm about 15 stone pretty yeah about 15. I was just above 15 so I'm now 15 stone so I've lost a stone since probably just before Christmas and it is the 7th of March. Now I'm not I'm not into losing weight quickly.

I like it to be a slow process but then I'm not into anything quickly.

I mean okay I've been in relationships where sometimes let's quickly get it done and while the adverts are on you know let's just if there's something we need to do whatever but it is it's generally you know boy if I go to the toilet quickly if I'm again watching television or I'm watching boxing and sometimes it's weird but sometimes I will there's only like a minute between rounds and I will I will actually walk quite quickly to the bathroom to do a quick whiz before coming back because I don't want to miss the boxing that

is something I want to talk about anyway as well the boxing I want to talk about the DAZN app they put the prices up and their content this year so far has been pretty abysmal there's practically nothing for two months hardly anything at all for two months and then they put the price up from £7.

99 a month to £19. 99 I mean that you can't they're gonna lose I don't I can't imagine many people in this country in are gonna pay that I'm not I will pay I think if there's a fight I really want to watch because basically they're saying they're not going to do pay-per-view anymore so Anthony Joshua fighting instead of paying £25 or whatever you get that as part of the £19. 99 a month subscription I'm guessing a lot of people will just pay for that month when there's a big fight on they'll pay the £19.

99 which would be so amount or a little bit less than what they would pay to watch a big fight anyway that's on pay-per-view the little one's making his sound I think he might need to go out but I did take him out earlier I'm not sure if I woke him up or he woke me up it was about half past three this morning it's now about half six and so I've been back to bed I had my breakfast and then I then I went back and went to sleep again for a bit but as

per normal by the way that's not me making those now noises as per normal I get ready put my coat on put his lead on you know he seems to be up for going out and we get downstairs and he won't leave the front door open the front door he doesn't want to go out it's not that he's refusing because I could have just dragged him out because he's little but he didn't want to and the fact that he didn't want to I don't know I want to respect that and normally he wants to go

out so this was unusual it's probably the second time since I've had him that he didn't want to go out but he did need to go and do a wee wee so I took him into the garden and and he did he just wandered around for a few minutes did a wee and then came upstairs and went back to sleep so you know he's happy enough and he doesn't seem too bothered about going out he's staring at me but he doesn't seem too worried about him to go out or anything although I will take him

out for I'm not going to say the word because I think he started to recognize that word although he should know that word by now shouldn't he he's a year old but I think it's been confusing for him I know I don't I'm I'm certain it's been confusing his life has been confusing because of the different homes he's lived in the different people that he's been around kind of not knowing what's what he's getting to know what's what here he's getting to know that I'm the boss not that I'm bossy I just you know I've

probably said it before I just want him to follow some basic instructions one is to come here when I tell him to come here is to come here and so if I'm in a field I start letting him off the lead so he can run around but he has to come back to me if there's another dog or if there's some people there not everybody wants a dog jumping up at them some people are scared of dogs so I try and respect people's boundaries you know so I mean I had a pizza delivery man but

I think it's about a month ago now three weeks ago he literally screamed when Vinnie ran out there and he was he was climbing over the banister of the stairs to get away from him I think he's got the wrong job I mean knocking on people's doors I don't know what percentage of households in this country have dogs I'd say it's a fair good percentage it's got to be I don't know 30% 40% maybe higher and maybe not that higher I don't know I'm not sure and a lot more bigger dogs because he's little but

I don't think that makes any difference to people that have got an issue with dogs it's not necessarily the size because one thing he's got is speed he moves very quickly and he's got a vicious side to him as well but he doesn't show that with other people he shows it sometimes when he can't get his own way and uh you know he's better now but he's he turned on me a few times when I first got him and even yesterday he was eating this this bacon he chose it he chose it it was this

like big long I thought it was like a sausage like a big long sausage stick thing but it was it was nearly as long as his body now he chose that I said to him because he went to the basically in the pet shop right near the door like they do with kids and sweets and stuff in supermarkets they have these sausages that they put low down know the dogs are going to try and get them and once a dog bite grabs one starts eating it you know I guess the people have you know you

have to pay for it so they know that and I'm guessing that's why they do it he started sniffing because it's like six different sausages or the kind of sausage type you know long things and I guess more like German sausages really not like human sausages no not human I'm English sausages and more not curvy but they look a bit like that but straight anyway some of them are soft some of them are hard I said to him which one do you want and he sniffed and he chose one so I got that and I

got two I got one for him and one for his boyfriend downstairs so I you know I thought he'd like it because he smelled it and whoever smelled it dealt it so he he clearly wanted that one but well he didn't when we got back gave it to him he didn't want it didn't want it at all at all I said why did you choose it why why did you choose it and you know what he said he didn't say anything because he's a dog so I I took it away because he didn't clearly didn't

want to have it I broke it up thinking that maybe if it was in bits smaller bits he'd be fine well yesterday he wanted it so I gave it to him and he started to eat it for some reason and it's very hard it's really really tough and I don't really know what it's made of and I wouldn't I wouldn't try and eat it because it it's really well it's not for humans I mean there's that reason but it's it's not not something I'd want to try and test my teeth on not that I've ever

really tested my teeth on anything I've never I never thought to myself well I'm gonna eat that I'm gonna test my teeth see if they'll manage to rip through that like no I've never ever done that normally I just eat because I'm eating it's not I've never any kind of thought about testing my teeth or any other part of my body really the thing is he was struggling a bit with it but it was his choice you know he wanted it he didn't have to do that it's not like he had to eat it because

he was hungry he had a bowl full of food there and you know he just wanted to have a go which is good good for him well he got a little bit he got stuck in his mouth it wasn't choking him but he was stuck in his mouth and he was like trying to like he just kept opening his mouth wide trying to do and he couldn't do it so I don't think he was choking anyway so I went to pick him up and he ran away from me I like trying to help you little

anyway I got I picked him up and he growled at me so it's like you're stupid you know I'm trying to help you anyway well I tipped him up I didn't tip him upside down but I kind of tipped him up I opened his mouth and the bit fell out of his mouth so I think it was caught on one of his teeth or something or lodged between the two you know it was just a bit lodged no thank you now I don't expect to wake up today you know with a bunch of flowers by

the bed and you know a fried breakfast that he's made for me I don't expect oh Barry Manilow to be at the bottom of the bed singing me love songs I don't I don't expect that but just a little bit of you know thanks dad cheers no nothing nothing at all not even a poem don't ask for much so the two things I've done to lose weight is first of all I have deliberately reduced my certain things out of my eating I haven't bought any chocolate bars for about three weeks and the other thing is

I've been having more breakfast cereal instead of eating food like instead of having a you know I haven't had I literally yesterday was the first cooked meal I've had probably it's probably the second cooked meal I've had this year so you know I can that or maybe the third I remember having one I think in January I didn't have one in February I don't think but I realized I do need to have one cooked meal a day because after having the one yesterday I just felt so much better I feel better today for it as

well I think just you know the whatever it's like potato potato I'm a vegetarian these days so it's a vegetarian pie and some baked beans now you know perhaps not the healthiest thing in the world but I do have other vegetables I can eat but it's better it's definitely better than Weetabix or toast or what I've been having lately is just cheese rolls with maybe tomato or cucumber or lettuce and it does get very boring and the other thing that I've done is initially I started to drink I stopped rather I start drinking coke that's

really helped me I've lost so much weight no I stopped drinking coke altogether for the first two weeks and then the last couple of weekends a lot in fact last Sunday not this Sunday just gone because it's Tuesday the Sunday before last I had one can of coke and then this weekend just gone I had two cans of coke like one on Saturday however I only had half a can each time I didn't even drink the whole can because I'm favoring tea over coke for some reason nice cup of tea yeah nice cup of tea

so that I think has helped because I figured you know what there's no reason to cut out coke like altogether from my life I can have a can at the weekend have a coke maybe even two cans of coke on a Saturday night or Friday night you know just as a as a gift as a self gift as a weekly present as an incentive to be the best me possible during the week I don't know so that's kind of the dietary side of things so I've cut down I've had no chocolate I've had chocolate cookies

okay so there has been chocolate but I'm not you know eating them every day generally I do still eat biscuits but I haven't eaten any chocolate bars or anything you know any of that kind of confectionery that you get in a shop I've not had any of that not even one since and I've cut down on the sugar in my tea so I only have six spoonfuls now I have half a spoonful in my tea and the other thing I guess really that the only obvious thing that seems to make sense as to what's helping

is the walking so I'm taking taking the little one out at least four times a day providing it's not raining heavy otherwise he I just um I pick him up and back his bum out of the window so he can do it out there because I don't want to get wet um but he you know he walks for well we walk for miles for miles and miles and miles every day so I think that has had a yeah I think that's had an impact on me losing a bit of weight so the two things together

there's been no vigorous exercise because I've been a little bit not not worried but slightly concerned about my back you know about getting back to training and weight lifting and you know exercising I just want to take it easy on my back because my lower back is probably the best it's been for a long time and I I put that down to the the walking it does seem to really help my lower back my upper back where I fractured it it's still it feels a little bit stiff and so I want to I want to

ease myself into it and just take it gentle be very gentle yeah and hopefully you know build myself into it I did some sit-ups and press-ups the other day and I can't say that I really enjoyed it and I realized I mean in reality doing sit-ups and doing press-ups isn't a particularly enjoyable thing to do but it is nice to look into the mirror if you're doing it every day and to look in the mirror and see the progress and it does it happens fairly quickly I mean I don't know now because it's been a

while since I did it since I've sort of tried to get myself looking fairly okay physically yes the last time I was looking in the mirror really it was probably that 2010 2009 that's kind of well that's not the last time I looked in a mirror but you know it's the last time I'm not a vampire it's the last time that I wasn't admiring myself but I was noticing an improvement in my figure so a bit slimmer a bit more muscular and now maybe it's 2012 I was doing taekwondo and I also had a punch

bag and I was doing weights so I did I think I was looking at a bit better a bit wasn't slim I haven't been slim since 2004 and I got down to 11 and a half stone in 2004 and I was slim I was muscular but I was slim like in my waist and I've got this memory you know I've mentioned it before but I probably mentioned everything before at least sometimes it's in the kitchen when I'm doing the washing up so there's no one to hear but I can't remember what it was I think

it was a fire alarm went off in this building where I was working and I've just been there I don't know a month or so a few yeah just about my over a month and I started this job in this call center it was 2004 I started working there I think September so we're probably looking about October time maybe early November and I'm standing up and as I normally do when there's no one looking I put my hands down my trousers just I just noticed that there was a gap in my trousers like you know

I could actually pull them open I couldn't I couldn't see anything there's nothing to see to be honest but I couldn't I mean down my trousers not not around me there was people around me but there was I think there was a fire alarm going off I don't know why there was there was something happening but I remember just putting my hand across my tummy and being able to fit my hand down the front of my trousers now not all the way down not enough to get me disciplined at work but just enough to sort

of realize that wow I can actually get my hand down my trousers without hurting my hand without cutting off the circulation of my hand and my fingers and I've not I hadn't been able to do that in years and since 99 probably that was the last time I was like super fit 99 I say super fit super fit for me slim slim and busty that's what I was really and I was it's one of the few times I actually felt good about myself physically even though I was way too I wasn't way too slim oh

I was I didn't want to be as skinny as what I was but I was actually quite pleased with the muscle that I put on because I was doing this daily thing where I was doing press-ups and sit-ups and weights and it just worked and I was looking quite good and I mean I know I shouldn't really say that about myself but I felt I could see myself in the mirror it was an interest in how over you know a few weeks my body kind of transformed and a similar thing happened in 2004 in fact

I did the same process it was the same thing I started off on the very first day of this process I started off by doing as many press-ups as I could maybe or maybe doing it as doing 10 press-ups and 10 sit-ups and the next day I do 11 press-ups and 11 sit-ups and I think I used to do it in the morning and in the evening when I did this in 99 and I got up to about 130 press-ups and 130 sit-ups and by the time I got to that level my body was just

just really fit now that doesn't sound like a lot but it's quite a lot unless you're used to doing thousands of sit-ups and press-ups that's all I needed in order to really have a good body and the same thing happened in 2004 but the difference with that is I was also doing Wing Chun Kung Fu so I was working I was doing I was training three nights a week doing that I was a vegetarian so and I even stopped eating chocolate that's the last time I stopped eating chocolate was back then and I've done that

again now and I couldn't believe how slim I was and it was nice and it didn't last long because I was sitting down on my bum all day on the phones in a call center and in a very short time I started to put weight on I did start to put weight on and by 2005 I was bigger still wasn't big I was bigger and I was still doing some exercise so that was not you know I wasn't getting too it wasn't too much uh fattiness in me but then yeah even 2005-2006 I was walking

around probably I was I wasn't small but I wasn't like hugely fat I didn't I wasn't slim but I was I don't know how to explain it but I was probably 13 stone maybe yeah about 13 and maybe 13 and a half but you know it was considering I'm quite short I'm only five foot eight so that was quite a bit of weight to have on me and then and then I started university and I remember hitting 14 stone for the first time and I felt like a huge cow like I felt huge I felt

like my stomach was bursting out and I was worried that I'd been knocking people over in the street you know because of my huge belly and I just felt massive but not muscular just fat that's how I felt I didn't feel healthy or anything it's like oh I don't like this feeling and I couldn't believe I was 14 stone but it's weird how my body got used to the weight because not only did it get used to the weight I put weight on and to the point where I was ended up being 16 stone a

couple of months ago and I was walking around at 16 stone between 15 and a half 16 stone for the last seven years something like that and it doesn't even feel heavy to me doesn't it's not I don't get out of breath or anything like that generally you know it's just doesn't feel like there's a lot of weight on my legs it's just normal for me but when I was 14 stone when I first hit that I felt huge absolutely huge and now I've got down to 15 stone and that's still there's still a belly

there it's still there it's not the same size as it was and you know I've still got some muscles but I haven't obviously we've all got muscles haven't we but I haven't worked out really since before Christmas I ended up giving my weights away to a neighbor because I kept asking for the weights can you be boring in the way so I thought we'll just keep them so stop knocking on my door I kind of regret that now because I haven't got any weights I had those weights for years but I do have exercise equipment

you know I've got the sit-up bench I've got exercise bike I've also got a punch bag which stands up and I've got another speed punch bag thing which is like I don't know what they call it it's more like a little like a basketball on a on a stick kind of thing on a pole one of those things so I can have a workout it's just I haven't got any I haven't got any weights to work out with at the moment but it's okay I mean I'm not that worried to be honest the weights are

fairly cheap so I can get some at some point I'd much rather get myself doing the sit-ups and the press-ups every day and see if my body has the ability to transform the way it did previously because I've done it three times now I did it in 99 I did it in 2004 the same process the sit-ups sit-ups and the press-ups I did it in 2010 when I was boxing and I didn't do so much of the press-ups and sit-ups but I did do weights and I'd be on the punch bag for an hour and

I'd do like 10 minutes then I'd do some weights and then go back in 10 minutes on the bag weights that was a thing and I did um I got fitter physically fitter and stronger doing that and then when I was doing a taekwondo taekwondo taekwondo I didn't have a punch bag at that time not to start with but training twice a week it did actually reduce my weight and I was I guess the ex oh man I sweated so much and there's no way I couldn't lose weight with the amount of sweat that was

squirting out of me I mean it's terrible the other people the other people in there they were slipping over it was it was really honestly it was really bad but what can I do I've always been a sweater see I'm not like a big sweater in normal day-to-day life or if I'm walking even in the summer I sweat but it's not like huge huge but when I work out I really sweat it's always been the case since I was a kid so if I go to the gym my t-shirt will be drenched I mean literally

like I just got in a in and out of a bath and it was the same with with every everything I've ever done it's always happened I've always got completely drenched which I think is a good thing because it's it clears away toxins and stuff like that so that's that's cool why are you talking about toxins I don't know I just thought I'd mention toxin yeah but you're trying to sound clever no I am clever are you talking no I think toxins are released aren't they toxins are released through the sweat glands I think I

mean I think toxins are released through breathing they're released through going to the toilet they're released through your skin you know in the forms of probably spots as well as sweat and whatever so you know toxins can be released different ways and that sounded really intelligent but is any of it true I don't know I'm guessing it makes sense to me makes sense he is so cute this little one I've had him in my bed for the last few days at night I like him in my bed at night and he's been really good he

had the he has the occasional bark like what was that was that noise and especially if I had my radio on if I listen to the radio at night eventually something happens if it's an advert or something triggers him so what I do I just turn it off now although I do like to listen to the radio especially if it's early evening like you know 10 o'clock whatever but he started listening to me a little bit and I say no stop that now in a go from a forearm bark into the occasional and then okay

eventually just stops I look at him I'm looking at him now he looks content he looks to me like a happy dog and I think his previous owner said oh he just never sleeps he's always busy like he does sleep he sleeps a fair bit now maybe it's because of all the walking he gets done he you know ties him out a little bit although the other day I took him out for nearly two hours nearly two hours I get back all he wants to do is play now he had oh he was off the

lead he was running around and I thought if he if this doesn't knacker him out nothing will and I was tired at the end of it because I'd walked I thought we'd walked around three fields now fields are big to walk around three so it's like four sides to the field each that's 12 different sides of the field walking around and that's then is walking to the fields and walking back from the fields that was boring wasn't it that description do you think that's one of the reasons I haven't got a girlfriend apart from the

smell I mean apart from how I smell and look and maybe I always thought I was quite interesting but I'm not sure if I am as interesting because you know the whole let me bore you to sleep that was just ironic it was like it's not boring at all because I'm so interesting such an interesting person but I'm starting to think maybe just maybe might be a little bit tedious I might actually it's hard to say the words I might it's not hard to say the words actually I can say them I might actually be

a boring person and I'm not sure if I really want to be a boring person or if I want to be known as a boring person I don't know I mean not really you know like as a joke but I'm really because you know sometimes I'll be talking to humans and I just stop talking in the middle of the conversation and just like that was really boring not to them but you know about myself that is I never would never say that to another person not to their face but you know sometimes I like have

to stop myself like that was really boring super boring and probably a little bit like my story of my breakfast or the story of you know I suppose any story I've ever told possibly I mean to me it's it's like watching a a Star Wars movie you know it's exciting and not sure what's going to happen next I can probably guess but it's you know but no it's weird feeling quite tired but you know what I've got no milk so I had just enough to make some breakfast cereal well ready breakfast this morning and to

have a cup of coffee it wasn't a big breakfast it was it was enough there wasn't like huge a huge breakfast I like a big bowl like a proper big bowl of it and it was about half full even if that so it was quite a small breakfast and it's what I normally do like mid-morning you know four five hours after having my breakfast I'll have another breakfast with a cup of tea so I only have one cup of coffee a day and that's with my breakfast the first breakfast but not only do I not

have any breakfast cereal I ain't got no milk neither and I thought about going to the petrol station earlier with the little one I don't want to say his name because he might hear it and jump up and get all excited with the little one over there I was going to walk I said the word walk I was going to trot to the petrol station and maybe get some milk but it's a gamble because they're not open the door's not open so you can't walk in there they close the doors at 11 I think they

lock the doors at 11 but you can go to the window the problem is they're not always there I'm pretty certain that the night shift staff will lay down and go to sleep because I've been in there and I've banged on the window from for minutes at a time and nothing and my friend figured out how to get their attention is he went to one of the pumps and he picked the pump up and when you do that an alarm rings near the till to let the person know there's someone filling the petrol up and

they come over to and it wakes them up or whatever they come to the to the window so he figured that out so that's that's quite good to know so if you are in the maybe even in America or in another country Germany or any place I mean I don't know if you have petrol where you live and petrol stations I mean it will be a thing of the past won't it in the future but then everything will be a thing of the past in the future won't it in fact everything is even if it's

a thing of now it's also a thing of the past if it was around yesterday it's a thing of the past even if it's around today it's still a thing of the past as well as the thing of the future unless it's not around in the future and I don't know whether or not petrol stations you know will there be petrol or will they will they all be converted into electric charging stations I really don't know I'm not sure and unless they just all close down it becomes like blockbusters they just all close or Woolworths

now some of you might think well Woolworths isn't closed because in your country it's not in England closed I don't know about Scotland or Wales but definitely England all the Woolworths stores closed down probably about over 10 years ago now and it's the only shop other than blockbusters that I felt sad about it closing because I loved Woolworths as a kid I loved it it was the best shop the best shop it had everything you know it had toys it had stationery it had sweets chocolates had gifts and cards you could buy presents for people

they had records or you know tape record tapes and stuff it just had I think they might have even had clothes in there but they had everything and it was brilliant and it was affordable and I loved that shop loved it loved it loved it loved it now during 2000s I lived in a town I don't think it even had a Woolworths so I never went in there because they didn't have one I don't think and then I moved to a new town in 2007 the end of 2007 and it did have a Woolworths but

I didn't go in there because I didn't really know the town and I didn't live near the town and I didn't really do much in the way of shopping but when I heard that they were closing the store down I went in there and I could see why it had gone you know the store this is in fact I might have went in there before they announced they were closing it and it was a pitiful place half the shelves were empty they weren't this is before they even announced they were closing they it wasn't being

run well unless the management just didn't send any more stock you know it's nothing no the there's nothing that the manager of the store can do is I guess if if the head office doesn't send the things they need but it was really not what it used to be because I think Woolworths was pretty much the same everywhere but WH Smith's is kind of the same I don't know if you have a WH Smith's where you live it's like news agents but it also has books it also has stationary I think they also have the

post office in there now as well around the country but it's a really good store but it's the same everywhere you go they're pretty much the same I've been around and well I am around as well I've got around the body but that's not what I mean I've been around and WH Smith's is kind of the same pretty much everywhere you go like Curry's or any of the major supermarkets are just very much the same so I don't know if WH you know Woolworths was the same around the country because that'll explain why they had

to close and I thought the company had gone but there's a Woolworths in other countries so it's strange and then Blockbusters I loved Blockbusters but even I noticed as time went by less and less people were in there it got busy on a Saturday early evening you know sort of six five six seven and less and less people were renting because of the streaming services that were out there and that was it but I liked it I don't know there's something nice about going in there and not when it was busy but you know when

it was quiet so I don't like being in busy places particularly but it was nice to look through the videos and the DVDs and just choose something like oh okay I'll try that one it's a new movie and everything but there was almost an excitement about a new movie being released I don't get I don't really feel that excitement anymore the way I used to and I don't go to the cinema it's not not because I'm banned it's not just because I'm banned from all the local cinemas it's it's I don't it's not really my

scene I don't I don't find myself being able to relax as much as when I'm at home you know I prefer to watch a movie at home I cinema if I was with somebody if I was on a date then yeah I would definitely go to the cinema but that's more to be with that person and to share an experience I guess yeah a bit like train spotting or chucking spaghetti in the air it's a shared experience it's something it's a memory to keep isn't it but talking about spaghetti I need to go to the

toilet and I'm gonna take the little one to the garage to get some milk he's looking at me I think it'd be okay to go out now because it's probably time you know he might need to go to the toilet as well so thank you for listening remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy be gentle be try and be gentle with yourself I mean make an effort just try and give yourself a bit of a break you know just like okay see how you go see how it feels be nice

to yourself really we need to be our own best friend don't we because the reality is we're the only person like you're the only person that's going to be in your life every second of the day for the entirety of your life is you you've been with yourself the whole time everywhere you've gone everything you've done no one else is ever going to know you the way you know yourself so maybe it's time to start appreciating yourself a bit more start remembering occasions where you've done nice things start remembering occasions that memories that bring joyful

happy feelings into your body maybe start to plan for the future planning things to get you excited something to look forward to now i'm going to thank you lots of love bye oh i need that poo i need that poo
