Welcome to Let Me Bore You To Sleep. My name is Jason Newland and please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. So, so what? What do I do? I forgot what I do.
What do I do? I've got itchy shoulder. Ah, during the day, because it's Monday today, I slept a little bit too much and I was not in a, I was in a bit of a rubbish mood but I had some strange dreams. Strange dreams.
So, yeah, very weird. Can't tell you about them because they're not nice and it's just, yeah, it's not really, not really what I do is I don't want to talk about horrible things. But yeah, it's like just very, they weren't all horrible but they were just very unusual.
Very unusual hour. Hmm, I think I need the toilet. And I realise I sound like a two-year-old when I say that.
I need, I need toilet. I need potty. I need potty.
I think I might need potty. But it's okay, it's, it feels like it's hibernating at the moment. I do feel, you know, my wall is broken and, but there's still time at the moment, you know.
Doesn't seem like it's going to be a quick birth. I think it's going to, I hope I don't need a caesarean. So, I had an idea.
I'll And this idea was to, I'll tell you where the idea came from. When I was in Thailand, I gave food away. And the feeling I got, I'm not saying this to show off by the way, just but the feeling was phenomenal.
Even I was ripped off by the people doing the food, that's besides the point. It just felt really good to, you know, what's more valuable than food? You know, when someone's hungry, you know, so you could be locked in a safe over the weekend, accidentally get locked in a bank safe over the weekend, full of billions of dollars, but it means nothing because you're hungry, you can't eat the money. You know, so even if they said, well, you can have something to eat, or you can have a million dollars, you know, to start with yourself, I'll have the million dollars, I'll stay in there for 48 hours.
I'll stay in there for a week, I don't care. But guaranteed after a certain amount of time, a sandwich or even a cracker, a cracker with some margarine on top or a bit of cheese, just something would be worth more to you than the million dollars. And then once you're eating that cheese, you spend the rest of your life regretting it.
I could be rich. So because of the giving away the food, it wasn't just to people, I gave food away to dogs as well. There's a lot of wild dogs in Thailand.
They don't seem, I don't know, just don't seem to keep them as pets. It doesn't seem to be a, I mean, I might be wrong. I didn't knock on every single house to check.
But the Thai people do also feed them and you know, they look after them. But there's a lot of dogs, you know, because there's no control. You know, they just do whatever they do and give birth continuously.
In fact, I saw this, the most beautiful little puppy on the beach, and he's playing with me or she, I can't remember. And I just, just wanted to if I'd have been in England, I'd have taken a puppy home. Well, I guess I'd have found out if it was anyone's puppy first, obviously, but I want to just because it's clearly a wild dog there.
And I would have just took it home. It was so cute. But obviously, I can't do that.
I can't sneak a dog on the plane can I? So cute. So yeah, anyway, um, I just been thinking, how can I do a similar thing here? Not not with dogs, but with people giving food to people. And we do have food banks in this country.
And we do have, there are places where people can get free food. Like there's a homeless, what is it called soup kitchen in the evening, in a lot of towns around the country. And basically, you go outside and they've got these quite often they've like just these benches set up with soup and sandwiches.
And some places they'll give you cooked food, you know. But it's, it is aimed at homeless people. And a lot of people that are maybe hungry, are not necessarily homeless.
And although anybody can pretty much go to the soup kitchen, I could go to the soup kitchen and get some food. There's it just seems wrong to do that. You know, taking away food from someone that's living on the streets, or that's homeless.
And a lot of people got alcohol drug issues as well. So that's where all their money goes. So you don't have money for food or they don't prioritize food like maybe a lot of other people would.
So that would be like a wrong, it's just feel wrong to go there. I would, if I was absolutely starving, I'd go. I would go and eat at the soup kitchen.
And I'd get a food voucher for the food bank. But the food, you have to go to certain places to get them. You can't just turn up at the food bank and just get food, you have to get a voucher.
And some people have got pride, I've got no pride. My pride, if I have, I don't think I ever had any, but if I did, it was, it went a long, long time ago. So I got no pride, I got no kind of just, I can't do that because of this, like, no.
Not really. And I volunteered at the, what's it, well, both soup kitchen and the food, what do we call it? The food place. A couple of years ago, because they moved closer to where I live, and I went in there and said about volunteering and the bloke was so arrogant.
He said, no, we don't need anyone. We've got loads of people. And I was like, that didn't, really didn't taste very nice.
That one, that conversation didn't, wasn't the tastiest conversation I've ever had. It wasn't yummy. It was bitter.
And I was like, that's not the best way to be talking to people. I just offered my time. And let's face it, time is the most valuable thing that we have.
Other than, I guess, our health, health and time. So, yeah, I just, it's still a really valuable resource for people. The food, it's gone out of my head, the name of it.
That's terrible, isn't it? Not the food kitchen, because that's the soup kitchen, the food bank. That's a bank, bank, bank, bank. Runs with Hank.
So, I just thought, what can I do? How could I kind of reconstruct what I did in Thailand? Unless I literally went back to Thailand and did it there. Which, you know, I'd get a lot more, it'd be a lot cheaper and everything. But, I don't know.
Just been thinking about it. The thing is, if you, it's very hard to say to anyone that I know about this, maybe giving away food, because I always immediately put lots of blocks there. Oh, it won't work to this.
What about this? What about this? The negativity is just on a scale of silliness. Pretty much with most of the people that I know, it's very negative people. And this is a very negative country.
So, I just try and, I don't want to, my opinion, my way of looking at things, for a long time has been, don't tell me what doesn't work. Don't tell me how it won't work. I can think up a thousand reasons why it won't work myself.
I'm quite capable of doing that. Try and help me with how it will work. And I remember saying that to a friend, you know, 20 odd years ago.
I don't need help in how it won't work. You know, I can be one of the most negative people ever. I've been born into this country.
I've been raised in negativity. So, I know how to do that. But I'm trying not to be, you know, I'm trying to move away from that.
And I've been trying to move away from that for 30 odd years. I'm not sure how I'm doing. But how will it work? Not how won't it work.
Well, you can't do that because you've got no one. That's all I hear after that. And it's interesting when you're not even asking someone for help.
And they're putting blocks in the way. They're like, well, wait a minute. I'm not asking you to help me do it.
I'm not asking you to help me figure it out. I'm just mentioning that I'm thinking about doing something like this. You know, you don't need to worry about the dynamics or the structure of the concept.
You know, all of those things. I sort that out. I sort out transport and getting the food or whatever.
It's just not no one else's concern but mine. I'll do that. I was wondering what you think, you know, I'm thinking of doing that.
No, but then you haven't got a car. I know I haven't got a car. But not having a car doesn't have to prevent you from ever doing anything ever.
I've never had a car in my life. And I've done plenty of things. I've done three things.
But you know, I could have done plenty of things. No, it's four. I've done four things in my life.
So just because you haven't got a car doesn't mean you can't go places. You can't, you know, it's almost like, well, you can't have a job because you don't have a car. People used to say that to me.
You can't have a job. I haven't got a car. Well, so you're telling me that only people with cars can work.
Because that's not true. There are millions of people that do not have cars. Just in this country, you know, around the world, probably billions that don't have cars.
I mean, some parts of the world, part of the population are not allowed to have a car. I mean, in this country, the population is not allowed to have a car is anyone under 17. Anyone, well, generally over about 80.
It depends upon the, you know, where they're allowed. But generally, I think that's kind of the cut off. Not for everyone.
People have been banned, people have lost their license. You know, it's this huge amount of people that are not allowed to drive here for medical reasons as well. I'm not allowed to drive for medical reasons.
So I've got a bus pass because of the medication I'm on. So, you know, there's lots of different reasons. Oh, you can't do anything without a driving license.Me, me, me, me, me, me. Jason, you're just gonna moan the whole way through this recording. He's just moaning.
I'm not moaning. I'm not. That is a positive thing.
I am just wondering about how to go about it. It's just something that I'd like to do to give food away. And, I don't know, it's just something I've been thinking about.
And it's when I think about it, it actually gets me excited. Gets me excited. So, you know, I kind of, I need to take notice of that, I think, because I'm not the most excitable person.
I don't really get excited over stuff, generally. So if something really stimulates me in a way that I'll feel almost blissful, like almost like, wow, this is this would be such an amazing thing to do. Knowing that it will feel amazing doing it because I've done it, and I know that it feels amazing.
It just feels it's one of the best feelings ever that I've experienced. With all my clothes on. Oh dear.
So yeah, I'm just thinking how to go about it. And yeah, that's all. Just wondering, just wondering, maybe if my listeners can help.
I don't know. I'm not really sure. I'm not sure.
I know one thing is I don't want to be buying, well not buying, obviously, I can't buy anything, but I don't, you know, I'm not in a position to rent premises or anything like that. It would be a case of kind of doing what the soup kitchen does and just handing out food on the street. Yeah.
Do you need a permit for that? I don't know. And if it's free, surely there's no, there are no, how can there be rules about giving someone food, like giving them food? This is a sandwich place up the road from where I live. And I even thought about going and speaking to him and saying, look, can we do some kind of deal where you, we make the sandwiches, I'll come and help you, sausage rolls and things like that.
And then once a week we'll go and, well not him, but maybe, or maybe if he helps go and just hand out all this stuff on a Friday or a Saturday or, I don't know, or maybe I need to go back to Thailand to do it there, because it'd be a very, very cheap operation. All I'd need would be, just need a kitchen, pay the staff, which wouldn't cost much, and just get the food to cook. Or sandwiches, you know, depends, but could potentially feed hundreds of people every day for not necessarily a huge amount of money.
Yeah, that's just something I've been thinking about. I was thinking about it yesterday, or the day before, or was it the day before that, and I was getting excited. And I told my friend, and he wasn't quite as interested as I was.
And I just realized that I can't tell real life people, because they're not, they're not in that frame of mind, you know, of helping others. That's not what they want to do. Which is fine, because, you know, you've got your own things going on.
But it's just, I mean, some might say, well, you are helping others, you're doing this, and you're doing a podcast. And I know, but, I guess there's that, not physical contact, that's not the right word, seeing someone, you know, being human contact, that's what, yeah, not physical, human contact that I don't have. And to be able to hand someone something, whether it's money, whether it's food, whether it's toilet paper, whatever, you know, things that are useful for them, to help them get through, or toys, taking toys to the children's hospice, things like that, that just is something that I'm thinking of doing, that I'd love to do, because it's, it just feels so good.
And that is something I'm thinking maybe for Christmas, to have a, have a little, ask if anyone wants to help to, to buy toys for the, there's a local children's hospice in where I live. Well, it's not really local, it's in the same kind of area, it's not near where I live, but, okay, since, there's two actually in this town, there's, but there's, East Anglian, is it, is it, I mean it is East Anglian Children's Hospice, it's in the town that I live, and there's also St.
Helen's one as well, which is, okay, so what I thought would be cool is to buy, buy presents, you can get an idea how many children live in there, just like find a month, find out how many, like beds there are, I guess is the best word, but, but there's also, I think, children would go in and out, they won't necessarily sleep over, I think it's, so it's, might be a good place to sort of buy Christmas presents, you know, in December, and I don't know, just, just thought that'd be a nice thing to do,
and, yeah, it's just a few, it's just one of the ideas I had, I mean, it's not an original idea, is it, I mean, I'm sure, I mean, I might get there, they say, we don't need, we haven't got a room for any more presents, but there's no reason why they can't take their presents home with them, you know, or the, you know, if, if they were able to, so they don't need to leave the present, so they can get a present, if they're, maybe they're staying for a few days and then going home again,
they can take the present with them, rather than leave, you know, it doesn't have to be a present for the actual hospital, and then there's a children's ward of the hospitals, there's all kinds of things that could be done, giving presents to the nurses at Christmas, or, well, any time of the year, really, you know, I thought maybe putting on a, an event, like a disco, I know it might sound a bit weird, but some kind of disco or something, so they can all go and have a free bar, I don't know, just, just a
few ideas I've been thinking about, and to just, I guess, to have, to be, to have that human connection, I know there's a human connection here, but it is, it's kind of one way, isn't it, in a sense, because I'm the one doing all the talking, and I'm kind of talking at you, really, aren't I?
I feel I'm talking with you, I'm talking to you, but it would just, yeah, and it would give me something to talk about as well, I don't know, I thought maybe I could film it and put on YouTube, but then, that, this, I don't know, it just seems a bit, is it gratuitous?
I don't know, not gratuitous, but if I did do that, and I, if I did ask for anyone's help, and I wanted to help to help, you know, pay for all this stuff, I would keep complete records, and I'd make it all available, so you knew what I bought, how much I paid for it, and all that stuff, so it's nothing dodgy, or I might buy a private jet, see, that would be quite good for everyone, wouldn't it, because then I could travel between countries, so if I could get a few million raised to start
with, get a private jet, and then go between countries, and then, then I can raise some more money, and then start to take toys to people all around the world, yeah, I mean, it would be nice to do this in other countries, so I just have to see, oh, Vinnie's in the other room barking now, I don't know what he's barking for, what's he barking for, I don't know, he's up to something, he's being a naughty little monkey again, so these are some things that I kind of thought about doing, I don't know, maybe he
got some suggestions, and I could do maybe a GoFundMe page or something, I don't know, I'm really not sure, I mean, the whole doing a GoFundMe page for a charity, I've tried to do a few of those, and they've never been, no one's ever showed any interest in them really, a couple of people, I think I've raised about £100 over the years on GoFundMe for charities, so they've never been, I mean, I suppose I've not really talked about them, I've not published, you know, promoted or anything, the different pages that I've done, but I'd rather
do something more personal, you know, I'd rather hand the toys to the children myself, if that's allowed, you know, I don't know, but, or with the nurses, rather than raise money for the charity, and just, you know, I think it just feels a bit more personal, a bit more interesting to be going out, and I get to go toy shopping, I mean, that's got to be good, if I maybe ask a member of staff to come with me, to show me what they want, and we could, we could just go and buy a bunch of
toys, I mean, that's a nice afternoon, isn't it?
A dress-up is Father Christmas, or Santa. By the way, I lost half a stone, just in case you're imagining me with a big belly, nope, well, there's still a belly, but I've lost half of a stone, which is what, seven pounds, since before Christmas.
Now, you could say, oh, before Christmas, what, 1974? I mean, what any, you know, anything before Christmas could be all the way up to you being two years old, I realise that, and what I mean is, I weighed myself before Christmas, and I think it was just before I hurt my back, and I'm now, I was 16 stone, now I'm 15 and a half stone, and it's the first time I weighed myself since then, which isn't a long time ago, it was only just over a month, isn't it? It was, what, six weeks, seven weeks, six weeks.
Wow, because it's the 30th of January, Monday the 30th of January, I might, I'm probably going to release this tomorrow night, because it's quite late at night, and yeah, hmm, so, he was weird, like, like, last night, Vinnie, this is quite late at night, he was really, it was almost like he was crying, I was very emotional about something, and I couldn't really understand why, very emotional, but there was an ambulance outside the house, and apparently, something went on, and there was a lady being taken to hospital from across, basically just across the road, or
across the shared garden, and the building actually does attach to my building, which is just where Vinnie's former mum used to live, or does still live, she was his foster mum for about three months, but there was a lady in that block that got taken to hospital, I know, and no more than that, I've just heard that, because I thought it might have been her, his mum, because he was so upset, and I thought, oh, what's going on?
So, I guess he could hear what was going on, I couldn't hear anything, but they've got a super duper hearing, don't they, dogs, so he could hear, maybe it was the distress from the patient, that he was feeling, or hearing, and it was upsetting him, but I gave him lots of cuddles, and he seemed okay in the end, but he just seemed really sad, like really glassy eyed, really, he wasn't crying as in tears, but his eyes were very watery. Now, admittedly, I was peeling an onion right in front of his nose, but, I mean, I wasn't, that'd be strange, wouldn't it, suddenly, like, just to add to the story, and I was peeling an onion.
Did I mention I watched the boxing, I know I did, I mentioned it, it was an amazing fight, the thing is, it was held at Wembley, was it Wembley, I think it was Wembley, Wembley Arena, Wembley Arena, and so there was an English person, Anthony Yard, challenging for three of the world titles, and Arthur Beterbiev, who's Russian, who has the three world titles, three of the four world titles, I know that anyone that's not into boxing is probably thinking, why would you have four world titles, surely one world title is enough, and I agree with
you, it's ridiculous, but that's just the way it's, that's the way it's happened, and basically, at the beginning of a fight, especially a world title fight, the national anthems are sung.
Now, the challenger national anthem, that gets sung first, and then the champion gets sung last, just like the challenger gets announced first, and they also enter the ring first, and the champion enters the ring last, and gets announced last, you know, it's a respect thing. I nearly said he gets into the ring first, but of course, there's female boxers now, professional, the, you know, big names as well, so that's why I'm changing it to they.
So, I've got something to say on that subject as well, women boxers are changing the face of boxing. You know, I've seen thousands upon thousands of fights over the years, thousands, and I don't think I've ever seen one female fight where one of the fighters is not there to fight. I've seen huge amounts when one boxer is just, doesn't want to engage.
It's always he's running, maybe he feels the power of the other boxer, and that's it, he wants to keep away from them. Don't get that with women's boxing, generally, they go at each other full throttle from the start till the finish, much tougher than men. Seriously, some people don't like it, because I know people that don't like female boxing, because they don't like seeing women fighting each other.
I personally don't care if, you know, there's some people that don't like men's boxing, they don't like seeing men fight each other. I can kind of relate to that, because it's aggression, it's violence, whatever, but it's a sport, I see it as a sport, I don't see it as anything else but that. And I love it, it's one of my favourite things in the whole wide world.
So, you know, I'm not gonna defend it, because I don't need to, but I love it, I've loved it for a long, long time, many, many years, many decades. So, Saturday night, both boxers were called in, so Anthony Yard was called into the ring first as a challenger, Bertabeev was second as Arturo Bertabeev as the champion with three world titles on the line. They didn't do the national anthem for either of them.
Now, you know what, I personally, personally, I don't think politics has anything to do with sports, really. I mean, I just, it's just weird, because some of the top boxers in the world are Russian, or two. Ironically, the two best light heavyweights in the world are Russian, the two world champions are Russian, Bivol, Russian, Bertabeev, Russian.
And when they, they need to fight each other to, you know, to unify, to have a unanimous champion, and that fight now is a super fight. Now, it wouldn't have been a few years ago, because no one would have known who Bivol was, and Bertabeev was, you know, he was quite new, maybe just won the world title, and no one really knew who he was. Now, Bertabeev has beaten loads of people, and he's knocked out every single one of his opponents.
He's the only world champion with that record, current world champion. And he's beat up loads of, like, Americans and English fighters, and, you know, I say loads, but a few. So he's known, and he's classed as one of the most exciting boxers in boxing.
Bivol beat Canelo, who is the number one pound for pound boxer. And then he beat another one who was also, like, classed as one of the best boxers. So, them two together, Bivol and Bertabeev fighting, even though they're both Russian, they could fill a venue in America, they could fill a venue in the UK, they could fill Wembley, because people would go and see it, because it's one of the most exciting fights to see.
Bivol, you know, potentially pound for pound one of the best fighters in the world. Well, he is one of the best fighters in the world, pound for pound. If you beat the pound for pound star, doesn't that make you pound for pound? If you beat the world champion, it makes you the world champion.
And Bertabeev is just phenomenal. You know, he's like a machine. I nearly said war machine then, but I'll stop myself.
So, I'd like, you know, I, they can't, obviously they can't host it in Russia. I mean, maybe they can, but they're not going to, you know, no country's going to pay Russia to television rights to watch the fight. Because of what's going on at the moment.
I mean, obviously they can't have it in Ukraine, they probably can't have it in many parts of Europe, close to that kind of area. And I really hope that politics doesn't get in the way of one of the best fights, if that carries on this year, if they can put it together this year, the biggest fight of the year, I'd say, or one of the biggest fights, maybe not the biggest fight, but up there, it's a super fight. Now, it's a super fight.
It's a Hagler-Herns. It's, you know, I mean, I know it isn't because, well, Hagler and Hearns was really famous and Hearns had multiple world titles at different weights, and Hagler had been world champion for years and years. But then, Beterbiev's been world champion for years, and so does, so is Bivol.
It just so happened to be a weight class that doesn't get a lot of attention. Light heavyweights don't get a lot of attention for some reason. Heavyweights get all the attention, if there's someone good.
And then the other weights, like lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, and the only way the other weights get really attention is if there's someone brilliant. Now, at featherweight, there's always generally brilliant boxers. There's quite a few at that low weight.
Super middleweight has gone quite good. Cruiserweight and light heavyweight are just not, they're not sexy weights for some reason. There's, you know, they're big guys, but they're not huge guys.
It's, I don't know why, but then when you look at it, you've got some of the best boxers. I mean, Bivol is phenomenal. Now, this should really be boring for everyone talking about boxing.
This should really be sending you all to sleep. It's very, very boring. Very, very, very, very boring.
Well, yet again, someone knocked at my door. So I had to go and do something which meant, well, which means I've got no idea what I was talking about. And you know how important it is for me to stick to the same subject.
The idea of wandering off to talking about something completely different, it just doesn't sit well with me. I, I pride myself in being very focused when I make these recordings. Very, very, very, very focused, focused.
So yeah, some of the ideas I had regarded raising money and stuff like that, that I was talking about. And I don't know. We'll see.
We'll see. It's, there's no big hurry to make decisions really. But it'd be interesting to maybe look into it.
I need to get some light on. It's dark in here. It's dark.
Yes, very dark. Dark, dark, dark, dark, dark. Oh, it's a very, very, um, I don't know.
I got a fairly nice comment. I normally get nice comments from Sebastian, your favourite Uncle Hubert on YouTube, Sebastian. And you know, it says edited.
So who knows what he originally wrote? I'm not sure I'd want to know. I'll do it in his voice. So now, smellily, when you all started this category, I was like, okay, he's reached absolutely creative bankruptcy, which isn't far fetched.
But turns out by now, I enjoy these even more than the rare and in between Jason chats, especially your personal stories and the made up dialogues are very good. Oh, thank you. That was for Sleepy Boring Objects.
And the title of that one was Cheese. I mean, really? Cheese? I don't know where I come up with this stuff. It's almost magical.
Okay, whatever. Oh, yeah, another person says, this is nice. Make $750 per day.
This is the name of the channel. Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune. But great minds rise above it.
Washington Irving. That's nice. I'm wondering about the title of the YouTube channel make $750 per day.
So this person is clearly sending these messages to I don't know, I mean, it might be a real person. So we'll look at the channel. 60 subscribers.
Makes urgently hiring. One day ago, 518 views. So to be fair, it's getting more views than I'm getting.
And I can't judge anyone subscribers because I've only got five myself. Yeah. And I need the toilet.
So I'm gonna go. I want to say thank you want to thank all everyone that made this possible. The directors, the writers, the actors and the musicians.
I just want to I want everyone you know, you ought to know that. I'm very grateful. Very, very, very, very, very, very, very grateful.
And also to let you know that I take full credit for all the glory. So thank you very much. Remember to be kind to yourself, because you deserve to be happy.
Be gentle. Be gentle with yourself. Lots of love.
Bye
