#869 SUPERMODELS - Let me bore you to sleep - Jason Newland

Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com and my name is Jason Newland and this is let me bore you to sleep. Yeah, please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. Now, well, what I thought I would do.

Who wants to hear some statistics? Oh, I can hear the groans from here. So let's have a look. Let's have a, let's have a little look and see what's happening in the world.

I realize your world is different from mine. We all have our own different worlds and have different weathers and different political systems and different, even different celebrities. And, you know, if you're in a different country, there's going to be people that are celebrities to you and I may have never heard of them because I'm old.

So what I thought I'd do, let's have a look at the daily papers, shall we? Let's have a look at the daily papers. Let's have a look. Okay, let's start.

So it's Friday the 22nd of July. So let's have a look. The Evening Standard.

Rishi vowed to mend the economy and bid to close the gap with Liz. Right. I don't know if you're aware.

If you're aware, oh, here's something I'm going to do. And it's up to you. Obviously.

I'm going to do an Amazon wish list. I've done it before, but I'm going to do one. And I'm going to ask anyone that loves or that likes what I'm doing to maybe send me a book.

To buy me a book. Yeah, okay. I suppose send me a book and buy me a book is a different sentence, I guess, because one involves spending money.

But only if you've got the money and you want to do it, you know, there's no pressure. Of course, there's no pressure. But and I will think less of you if you don't, of course, but it's I'm basically the way I'm going now is I'm trying to make my hypnosis library better.

And it's kind of my hobby collecting hypnosis books. It's been my hobby for a long time. It had a big blip a few years ago, when I lost all my books.

But I've now got a fairly good selection again. Now the benefit to me, you may not get the benefit yourself. If you don't listen, for example, you don't listen to the hypnosis recordings.

However, if you do listen to the hypnosis recordings I do, then you may benefit from contributing to my hypnosis library. Because even if I don't use a technique from a book I've read, I get stimulated, you know, from reading it. And I get ideas for future recordings.

So I kind of, a karmic class is, it's putting stuff in instead of demanding stuff out of my brain all the time, I'm trying to put stuff into my brain, make it a bit more even. So instead of like trying to keep coming up with new recordings and new ideas and stuff, or different versions of previous recordings, I need to put stuff in. It can't just be all outgoing and needs to come in as well.

So that's where the reading the books and not even always just reading the book from cover to cover, but skimming through looking for things, looking for ideas, researching and bloody blah, blah, blah. So yeah, so I'm not, I've not put together the Amazon list yet. I kind of have, but I need to change it to make it more correct.

And I won't put down lots and lots of books, maybe 20 or 50 books. That's a lot. But just one book each and just go for it.

And I won't even, some of them will be, I guess some will be expensive to some people, others will be really cheap. So I'm going to put like a mixture of really, really cheap books and really like, and ones that I would perhaps buy myself. And when I do buy one myself, I'll take it off the list.

And when someone buys it, it'll go off the list as well. So I won't get two, no one will send, I won't get two versions of the same book. And that's if I remember, I might actually forget after I've made this recording and never, never do this, but I'm thinking about doing it because it seems like an idea.

Not necessarily a good idea, but it's an idea anyway. Which just reminds me of the, I remember years ago, Jason, begging does not become you. I don't know who that was, some person.

Begging does not, I don't beg, I've never begged. I might have to one day, but I don't beg. You know what, years and years and years ago, and I'm talking probably near the beginning of when I started the free hypnosis service in 2006.

I actually, you know, everything I was doing was free, which still is, but I had no, basically I was working full time and I was investing my money into providing the service. So I spent thousands of pounds, my own money. You know, just the leaflets alone to promote the free hypnosis service was over 800 pounds.

And that was in 2000, January 2006, something like that. And I gave those leaflets out to people in the streets, in through the letterboxes, put it in shop windows, you know, stuff like that. As well as all the websites and all the different things I've done over the years, I used to advertise, I used to advertise on Google, I used to advertise on, yeah, Google, like the Google ads.

So I used to spend money on that. And yeah, so I spent, I spent quite a lot of money actually over the years, a lot, a lot, a lot of money over the years. And there's a point why I'm saying this is because I saw this interview with, what's his name from Amazon, not Amazon, from Apple, the Apple man, the main Apple man that's not along, he's not around anymore.

So he was interviewed. And it was a really good interview. He had his Polonic jumper on.

And he said something that I took to heart. And I really believed him. So what he said is, if you need help, you know, with a business or something that you're doing, if you need help, ask, and you will receive help.

You won't, if you don't ask, you won't, you know, you might still receive help, even if you don't ask. But if you really need something, ask, and you'll be amazed at how many people will actually help you. So for the first, I kind of kept that inside, that idea for okay, one day, I might need to ask for help, I might need to, I might start to ask for a bit of support, you know, to help cover the costs.

Now, that didn't really happen. It was only a few years ago that I started asking for a little bit of help. So for the first 10 years, I didn't really ask for much help at all, didn't really, and I didn't receive anything, hardly.

And then, because I've been doing this for 17 years now. So probably, was it three, four, just probably 2019. And even before that, I've got some help to get a camera, I asked for help, and I got some help there.

And during the lockdown, I asked for help, because I was, well, like a lot of people, in 2020, I was struggling to get stuff, deliveries, and I was having to get stuff from Amazon, and it was costing me more money. And so I did a wishlist on Amazon, and asked if anyone would like to help, not begging, but just if anyone would like to help. And people did.

And it was amazing. Absolutely amazing. I was blown away at the generosity.

Phenomenal. You know, toilet, I know you say, oh, it's toilet roll. Why are you getting excited about toilet roll? Well, the reason is, I've always got excited about toilet roll.

I just think it's amazing. Can you imagine life without toilet roll? Think about it. Toilet roll is pretty amazing.

And, oh, can we move on? I've got an image. I've got an image with smell. So it's been amazing.

And I have asked for help. So I'm not, with the books, it's not a case of asking for help. Just if you fancy it, if you fancy supporting me, you know, just by helping me with my hypnosis book collection.

You know, it's, I guess it's, even if it doesn't help you, it may help another person along the way. So I might get, I mean, there's a particular book I'd like to get and it costs about 250 pounds. Very expensive, but very rare.

But it's got, it's got certain things in it that are nowhere else. Now I might get that book and there might only be one, one thing in it that I find that I can use. But that might be the difference between someone.

It could be the difference that makes a difference. That's all I'm saying. You know, it could really be, listen to me on that occasion, talking about that idea or even a, maybe my own version of that technique.

You know, it doesn't have to be word for word. It might be my own version or something that's stimulated my mind from reading that, that then has a, makes a difference to someone. It may make a difference to many people.

I don't know, over the years that is. Thousands of people listen to my recordings. If anyone actually really listens, I mean, they listen, but I don't know how much people are taking in.

I don't know how much benefit people are getting. I don't, I get very little feedback. All I can assume is people wouldn't be listening unless there was a use to it.

Because the one thing when I think about human beings is they don't, they're not going to waste time with unless it's useful. I mean, not when there's so much choice. That's what I mean.

I mean, you could say, yeah, well, people spend hours watching television. What use is that? No, that's not what I mean. What I mean is the fact is a lot of people don't spend hours watching television anymore because now they can watch Netflix or they can watch YouTube.

They've got choice. So they might be spending as much time in front of a screen as before, but there's, thousands, hundreds of thousands of different things that they can watch. And the same as with podcasts or music, you know, you can listen to anything.

You don't have to listen to a specific thing. So if you choose and I don't know, 10, 12, 15,000 people a day are choosing to listen to me on the various podcasts, then they must be choosing to do that. It's not, no one's making them.

No one's making anyone do anything. So, and I hope that I'm making a difference in some way. Otherwise it's just, it's just, what's the point? It's just, I mean, I suppose in some ways this entertains me as well.

I guess maybe that's, oh, look, okay. But anyway, I've gone on about that. I'll have a drink now.

Kate Moss, I'm in charge of my career now. Yeah, but you're 75 year olds, Kate. You're 75 years old now.

And yeah, of course you look amazing for, for 90, but your career, are models even, are there models anymore? And you might, of course there's models. I mean, are there like supermodels, you know, like Kate Moss? Who were the supermodels in the nineties? Because that was the era, wasn't it? The supermodel, like Kate Moss. Who's the one that I used to like? Apart from all of them, supermodels, models, nineties.

I hope it doesn't show pictures of people in the nineties. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but okay. Okay.

Straight away. It comes up. Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer.

I love Claudia Schiffer. Both of them, they're twins, you know, one Schiffer, one Schiffer. Naomi Campbell.

I could see the attraction. It's a nice face. I think without, I've always had a thing for really beautiful faces.

Like I find it fascinating, whether it's a man or a woman, like just fascinating to see someone with a almost perfectly symmetrical face, because I have far from that. I am the complete opposite scale. Yeah, I don't know what I am.

I've got the face of a tortoise. That's kind of what I am. Kate Moss.

Again, I didn't find Kate Moss attractive when she was younger, but as she got older, I could see like, okay, she's, you know, cause like they've got amazing skin and very, you know, very attractive. I can see that, like, okay. But it was just when they were wearing their clothes and the skinny little bodies and I was never, it wasn't even like some people are, that's not natural.

That size dress is, you know, basically the very few adults would be able to fit into that kind of clothes. It's more suited for eight year old girls, you know, as far as being completely skinny, able to get into that kind of clothing. But that wasn't the reason that I didn't, I didn't have any issue with it politically.

It's just, I generally have never really, usually been as a man or as a human, as a, when I used to be a sexual being before I got old and decrepit and crusty, before everything just healed over, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington. Okay. I used to favour, I used to be attracted to curvy, curvier females.

You know, it's, it's not like, oh, sexist. No, it's just, if we weren't attracted, if there, if there was no women attracted to men and no men attracted to women ever, then we wouldn't be here. You know, none of us would be here.

You wouldn't be listening to this. I wouldn't be making a recording. Some would argue, well, that's a good thing.

That would be a good thing. But, you know, that's just the way it is. Now, not everybody needs to do that, obviously, because you've got to go with what you like.

So if you're like a man, go for a man. If you're like a woman, go for a woman. If you're into donkey, no, no, that's illegal.

But you know, you know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? Apparently Kaya Gerber, don't know who the hell that is. Kendall Jenner, unfortunately, I know who Kendall Jenner is. Bella and Gigi Hadid are the supermodels.

Okay, they're the supermodels now. Okay, fair enough. They're not called supermodels, are they? They're just mega rich, famous for being famous.

Like Kenna, I'm not sure, Jenner. I'm not sure which one. Kendall, Jenner, Bella.

Okay. Kylie, Kyla, Tyla, Byla, Wyla. I don't know.

I know that I like Claudia because Claudia Schaefer had, she seemed like someone that I'd quite get on with. I don't know why. When I was in my early twenties, I thought, yeah, I'd like to meet her.

I think we'd get on. We'd hit it off because we've got, because I was sitting there in my, in my little dark room, big enough for one bed, a table and a wardrobe. Actually, there was no wardrobe.

It was an inwards wardrobe. It was an innie. Sitting on my bed, watching Claudia Schaefer on my little portable television, walking up and down a fashion shoot, or she might've been on a red carpet of a premiere to a movie.

And I thought to myself, I think we've got a lot in common. I think we'd get on. Really do.

And I was watching it and I don't know, three minutes later I was asleep. So she was, I don't know. I just always thought she was nice.

And what's her name? Cindy Crawford. Wasn't she married to, oh, I'm thinking Gerbil. She was married.

Who was she married to? She was married to a famous actor. I'm thinking of a Gerbil. I'm thinking of a Gerbil.

A Gerbil climbing up a tube. I don't know. But she was married to someone famous, I think.

Because I think that's what kind of made her famous, or made her more famous. I've got headphones on. Oh, my ears are getting sweaty.

I'm not sure what's sweating the most, my ears or me. So the 20 most famous supermodels of Marie Claire is, I think it's interesting because I'm just looking at a picture of them and all of them, all of them are skinny, like really, really skinny. Claudia Schieffer had, seemed a little bit less skinny than the others.

There's nothing wrong with being skinny. I think skin is brilliant. I mean, let's face it, if I was skinny, I'd probably live longer.

So, you know, I'm fat. And I don't go for that either. It's just, it's weird, though, because I think what made some of them quite famous was the Michael Jackson videos in the 90s and George Michael videos, because he used supermodels and Michael Jackson used supermodels as well.

And I guess neither of them were a threat to the models, were they? They knew that they weren't going to be, they weren't going to try and get seduced because George Michael was gay and Michael Jackson, they were too old. So let me have a look at other things. What about 20 years? So I think Kate Moss.

She's stunning. I'm sorry. I know she's she's 103 now, but so skinny.

Naomi Campbell. Yeah, Linda never saw what was going on with Linda Evangelista. I don't know.

Why are there so many people here then? Because that's what she sounds like. It's OK. It's a charity.

She this is just how bad she appeared topless and no one realized. I thought it was a boy. Claudia Scheiffer in 1987, a 17 year old client, Claudia Scheiffer's life changed forever when she met a model scout at Dusseldorf Disco.

I bet she met a lot of model scouts at discos. Pretty sure I'll be the model scout a few times in the past. She convinced her to move to Paris.

Blimey. Now, she must have dated him. She must have been in a relationship.

It's like you just don't meet someone. And then move, do you? Because she she's isn't she German, I think, isn't she? I just like, oh, I want to move to Paris. Oh, you want to move to Paris? I would like to think about it for a while.

It says she was discovered at age 15. So that's true. They do not look made of sand How did they come up with that that doesn't even make sense So her pyramid cheekbones towering physique she is quite tall isn't she I think and Entrance and she does stand up sometimes and in trance in all almond almond shaped eyes Sets her apart from anyone else Sure It's set her apart from the other supermodels, yes, but it didn't set her apart from You could see someone as good just that looks like her quite easily in a city in England She'd you know slim Perfectly presented You know, I'm

not you know, just like it's not Just like really you could see any one of them Not one of those supermodels looks Any different to what you would see if he was walking around in London now, you wouldn't see many of them Most I'm not I'm not saying that everywhere you looked you'd see someone like that, but it's a lot of They're all just normal Women just they're just humans.

I mean I'm talking from being a supermodel myself when I was younger There's I Think Carl Jenner is it was it's name Who's it? I can't say that word.

Can I? Can't say tranny anymore What's his name? The one he used to be the Olympic medalist and then he became a woman And I feel I might become a woman that will really really mess up the whole trans community Because I would turn up with a beard So I like beards. I think beards are good and I would make the worst woman ever. I really would But I just wonder what how would it be like what it would be like to actually feel that way Because I don't understand it and that's the problem I think with people they don't can't even grasp the concept of Feeling that there are different sex to the way they've been born But the thing is I've never felt like a man I've never been manly.

I'm not Aggressive I know that all not all men are aggressive, but in my generation that was kind of expected to be a bit aggressive. I Okay, sometimes I was a bit aggressive, but I'm just saying generally. Um, I'm the kind of person that I'm I like to watch Glee I like show tunes.

I like singing. I would dance if I wasn't such a heifer and This wasn't people living downstairs Because I worry about their safety if I start dancing around I might go through the ceiling so I've never felt like a woman never wanted to be a woman. Why would anyone want to be a woman? And I don't mean that horribly.

I just it just looks like hard work. I wouldn't choose I Wouldn't choose to be a woman if I could choose. I wouldn't be a woman.

I Wouldn't want to be a woman especially not looking like me because that wouldn't be fair You know, it's just I don't make a particularly good man. I'd make a worse woman, but then I think well How many of us? Hand on heart how many of us really feel Completely comfortable Being who we've told that we are You know, no, I'm not talking just about You're a boy you're a girl but all the social Pressures of being a certain way.

So depending on what you where you live in the world You know, you're gonna have pressures to act a certain way and you might not feel that way You might not want to do those things so if you're in England and if you in a town in England and it's a very Big football town, you know as a football ground in the town, maybe two You're it's almost expected that you should get excited about football, but you might not naturally get excited about it It's okay.

It's not a bad thing Don't have to be excited about the same things as other people what the thing that might get you excited is Collecting stamps or Bird spotting or Astronomy or you know something that is very different from Watching football or even playing football but then some people will They will fit in they'll do everything they can to fit into that and like force themselves into that hole And I'd be a football supporter or be a be a rugby supporter or be a cricket supporter because that's what's expected because that's the the The

mindset of the person's family or Culture or whatever that they're born into I Wonder how much of that is have I done how much of I Lived a lie how much of a lie of high lift and I think football is one I used to watch football when I was a kid.

My brother loved football.

I wanted to be like my brother and So I used to watch football Didn't really didn't really wasn't really excited by it I've been excited a couple of times during a World Cup or the Euro, you know When England had done really well, and I do I support the England team Because it just feels like the right thing to do and One of those reasons because this country is so negative that the probably the only times there's any kind of a positive vibe in the air is probably Christmas and When England are doing well in

sport perhaps the Olympic Games Cricket rugby football football, especially because that's the most popular sport in this country So I just go along for the ride Because I don't want to be one of those negative people that sort of say Oh football Because you know If everyone around me is happy Then I'm pleased that makes me happy because like wow good That's a lovely lovely feeling I think compared to the norm So But I've never really been into football, but I love boxing That that everything that I've kind of got interested in I've got interested

in on my own Probably apart from Elvis Presley now My older brother again.

He was a huge Elvis Presley fan the tooth probably the two things He was most interested in that I know of was Elvis Presley and Football watching football. He loved both of them. Um, I'm guessing well now I'm pretty sure Elvis was the number one.

That was the the big one, but football was also huge in his life and Because he was he was four years older than me so I looked up to him literally because he's like six foot five or whatever and I had no choice but to look up to him and I Don't want to say worshipped him but I've given it quite a lot of thought about him recently because I haven't seen him for a very long time and we didn't we didn't get on the last time we spoke and Basically, I was asking him to

send my nan a birthday card or Christmas card and I think I asked him too many times and he just he lost it on me and Haven't spoken since but hey, there you go But the reason that I did that is because every time I saw my nan for the last 25 years she was asking about my brother Have you seen him?

Have you heard from him? I just want to know he's okay. It's all I want to know. He's okay He was like a son to me all that kind of stuff Sometimes I'll be like, you know, then you know what then I'm here I've not gone anywhere.

I still visit I still visit every every Still here's me Don't worry about people aren't around but she did always worried about him and Because when When he was Pretty four and a half years old. He went and lived from my nanny granddad for a couple of years. I Went into What's it care what's it called Stayed with a couple lived with a couple.

I forget what I call it now not adopted but But they want to adopt us but with me and my other brother were living with them for about a year and a half two years someone then kind of class my oldest brother almost like a fifth son fifth one two Three four five nice six. She's got five kids. So like a sixth son and She had that bond she built that bond with him for those two years because she lived with her So she was like a mother to him for two nearly two years.

So they had that bond I guess I Didn't have with her At that well definitely not at that time I Like to think I had a stronger bond You know later in life because I've been around and I made sure that I kept contact with her all of my adult life Or you know when I moved away still kept contact with her.

So I moved away in 1991 she passed away 2015 So I was with you know, I made sure all those years I used to visit regularly Talked her on the phone and kept in contact and I was the only one out of my brothers that did that for whatever reason it's different different reasons for that, but I was the only one that was able to do that and But she still kept asking what about your brother have you heard of your brother is he okay So I don't know man.

I don't know so And when I did get hold of him, I said, please send her a card But I just you know when people go on and on I think I did that too much I just went on and on and on and in the end he just had enough But that's all she wanted.

I couldn't really explain it when you've listened for 20 odd years Someone going on and saying oh, please 90 2010 yeah, because last time I spoke to him is about 2009 and what's it now? 2022 so how many years is that 13 years? So, yeah, I haven't spoken seen him for was it longer? I don't know spoke to him 13 years ago. So it's Weird one with why is this that I'm looking at this thing and it's just cut out for some reason. Why is it cut out? Why is every time I go to do?

To read a newspaper, I don't get very far do I I get like one story if I'm lucky and then that's it And that's not what I wanted Stephanie Seymour Who's a famous Seymour is there a Seymour actress very very famous one Anyway she dated Stephanie Seymour dated Axel Rose and She Was in two of his videos or two of gun and guns and roses videos music videos.

Don't cry and November rain Is that November? rain November Rain So a lot of them or in videos like music videos of famous people So Christine Turlington Turlington Turlington Where is she from Tyra Banks, I always liked Tyra Banks Really liked Tyra Banks. I don't know why there was something about her. I don't know if it was her eyes No, I don't know how I don't know what it was I just really liked her really really fat and found her Nice.

I always thought that if we ever met Would get on you know, I just that's kind of I Remember Always sitting in my that this is the place before I even moved here and I'm ever seeing her on telly. I think she was being interviewed and she was you know This is what seven years ago. I was watching her being interviewed and I was sitting in my dirty old chair with the there's a Moist and damp coming from the wall and All the molds and we were looking at their TV looking on a interview and I thought I Feel got a lot in common.

I Really really think that we could hit it off If we ever met each other but Never you know, never know it's still possible still possible Christine McKenna me never even heard of her. Are you? Christine McKenna me It wasn't easy her unconventional and Ronna just look Made it difficult for her to book jobs early in her career Eileen Ford even told her she'd need plastic surgery to find success Well, I told her because she did but either her zig over.
