Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. This is let me bore you to sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. And my name, my name is Jason Newland.

Yes, it really is. Honestly, it really is. I want to start off by not going to read out the message I got.

But I'm going to say thank you to the person that sent me the message from Diana. To two people, Diana, thank you. And thank you for your message.

And I've got another message. I don't know where it is. It's somewhere.

Blimey. Where is it? Unless I imagined it. I got a really long message.

That's strange. Unless it was actually on. It might actually have been.

It's from Teresa. Thank you, Teresa. It's actually on my Facebook.

Page. It was a comment. So thank you very much.

Those comments basically in the message was to regarding potentially getting myself a new little fairy friend. And basically, the I saw an advert online. And the advert said to Hobbes to little boys, I think, ferrets needs to be gone by the seventh of April.

Now I know it's past the seventh. I called probably three days ago. So that'd be about the 19th of April.

I just thought I call anyway, just to see you never know. And the man said, Yeah, they've gone. And but he's got some new ones that will be available.

They're going to be born in May. So there'll be available probably June time. And so there's that.

And then he said, Well, my son has a ferret who's had for a year exactly a year old on the 17th of April. But he's kind of lost interest. And is looking to rehome the ferret, you know, the one year old ferret.

So it'd be like a rescue, not rescue in a, in a sense of, you know, it's been, you know, like some rescues is that the animals being mistreated or whatever, but more a rescue in a sense of it needs, you know, new home. So I kind of said, All right, then I'm interested in that. And but I've not heard anything back yet.

So I'm just waiting. And that would be that would include the cage as well. Because I've haven't got the cage anymore that Andre had.

I put it out in the garden, just out of the way for now and someone took it. So that's gone. And this is quite a big cage.

I've got a few, few kind of thoughts about whether or not I really want to have a ferret that's a year old, because really, I don't know how he because the boy, how he will be with me how he will be with a new person. I don't know. I really don't know how what ferrets are like if they haven't sort of grown up with you.

You know, Andre, he was a little baby when I got in. And he didn't really know anything else other than me. And even then it took him a while to sort of come around to the idea that he was stuck with me.

When I first got him, he was constantly biting me didn't didn't like me at all. And then, you know, he sort of, I guess he just resigned. He resigned himself to it.

I wasn't going away. And I was going to continue pick, pick him up and stroke him and cuddle him and kiss him and he's like he had no choice. So he just gave up.

Okay. Okay, I'll let him love me. So I don't know with this year old ferret, if if he would take to be or if I take to him or if we I don't know, really.

He's a beautiful he's a big, big old thing. Very furry. Not big.

I mean, they always look bigger than they actually are. Because once you put them in a bath, and you see how skinny they are, when you know, because the furs makes them look a lot bigger. It did with Andre as well.

When he was in the bath, he looked funny. He didn't like he hated the bath Andre did. And he had a real phobia.

He had a phobia of water, not drinking water, but and he would avoid every puddle. He wouldn't even like to touch a puddle. Usually.

Yeah, he had no issue with walking around in the rain. It's weird in it didn't care. I mean, it could be torrential downpour did not care.

But he would still avoid the puddles even though he'd be getting soaking wet. And he'd love to run. He'd love getting muddy.

He'd love, you know, rolling around in the mud. There was this water, isn't it mud and water, but you know, water on its own. No, no, no.

Did not like it at all. So, which is weird, because we was in the park when he was probably about, I don't know, a year old, maybe less. And we went to there's this like boating pond.

I'd have you call it it's not a pond, but it's a, you know, where they have boats on on the water. And there's a big opening in the ground and it's full of water and there's boats, little boats that you can rent. Boating thing.

I don't know what they call it. Anyway, we was walking along there and I was with a friend and he just jumped into the water. He didn't trip.

He didn't fall. He jumped into the water and just started swimming. Now, it might have been because he was too hot.

Maybe he had no choice. Yeah, he needs to cool down. I don't know.

But he chose to jump into the water. Another time, when he had his uncle, his uncle's not around either. His uncle died about a year before he did.

And his uncle was because they literally blood, blood related. The he followed when we went out in a room together, they didn't get on, they'd fight. And they can be quite vicious when they go and they weren't nice with each other.

So they couldn't be together in a room, but outside on their leads. No problems, never gave anyone any hassle. His uncle would walk ahead and he would follow his uncle, he'd follow him wherever he went and copied him.

So outside, no problems, I would never has wouldn't give any any each other any problems at all. Never fight, never bother each other. They were happy just to be outside.

And we went over to the pond, the duck pond in the fields. Although there's no ducks there. It's a place where ducks could go.

I think I've seen ducks here once. That's not really the point is it the story? Just go on a story Jason, you're moving away around again, you just just stick to the subject just once in your life. Okay, that'd be rude.

I we went up there. So his uncle is there and Andre was there. And we walked all the way through the fields and got to the duck pond.

And my friend chucked his ferret into the water. They loved it. Like not chucked but like, you know, sort of only a few feet but into the water so he could swim back.

And so I did the same with Andre. And he wasn't happy to start with. And then he looked at his uncle.

And he followed his uncle and swam back. And my friend chucked his one in again, because he loved it. He loved being in the water.

And Andre had no problem being in the water because he was doing the same as what his uncle was doing. Even though they didn't get on. It's very, very strange.

You know, it's any you had them on the lead. So you know, chuck them in. So they just not chuck in like in a bad way, you know, like six foot in the air, literally sunny and inches away from the water really from when they landed at a soft landing.

We weren't, we weren't taking up on a helicopter or hairball hot air balloon and dropping them. I'm not 1000 foot or anything like that. That'd be a little bit extreme and expensive, I imagine.

So we had a weird thing about water. Very strange. I started to think maybe he was a gremlin.

But yeah, apparently not. I mean, when he did go in the water, nothing happened. He only produced a couple of little babies that pop out and then run amok, but only happened what three times or so.

So I figured that was just a coincidence. Not really a gremlin.

La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la

la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la

la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la I guess that's one of the problems of living in the countryside is the streets are not catered for the way they would be in a city or maybe even in a town.

I mean the other night I was out it was 10 to 11 and I had a kind of similar thing and I had to go for a walk and I get to the end of the road and all the lights go out and suddenly it's just pitch black I'm walking around and it doesn't stop me I have to keep walking but I walk back on the estate rather than into the countryside because there's literally it's at least with the estate there's some houses with lights on and stuff but in the in the countryside it is

pitch black you can't see a thing and that's not really ideal especially if a car comes around the corner and they won't see me so for a while and there's no pavements so what I do I walk in the estate at least I'll be on a pavement and there's probably every five or six houses a light comes on when I walk past so at least I get to annoy some people as well no I'm not I'm not doing it for that reason but it's their it's their problem if they've got a light they're going to

have a light that comes on every time someone walks past and that's their problem you know I'm not I'm not up to no good I'm just walking because I needed to I needed to walk off how I was feeling so yeah I walk in and I got lost I got lost I ended up walking down the road and there was no lights coming on and there was no lights on either and I genuinely just like didn't know where I was had to turn the the light on on my phone try and get an idea where

I was and eventually I found my way but I was walking into cul-de-sacs just well there's nowhere is you know it's like oh I can't get out here I can't get out there and it must have looked like I was being dodgy because I was just walking into these roads and then turning around and walking back so perhaps it looked like I was up to no good but I wasn't I was just walking just needed to walk that's my new thing walking it seems to help seems to help to calm me down it's just a

strange strange thing that's going on at the moment you know yeah I went to the garage got some milk and my neighbor who I'd sort of said I can't talk to he came into the garage he didn't speak to me he just walked and got some other stuff and I don't know if he saw me or not but I think he might have been ignoring me fair enough so I just left I'm gonna miss him yeah he's all right he's just he's just loves to talk about sport and I don't like to talk about sport

and he he knows I love boxing and he will talk about boxing in order to get me talking about football he always leads on to something else and I have to stop him I said how did you get to that we were talking about the Tyson fight and now you're talking about the manager of some football team and you've you've managed to maneuver and manipulate the conversation to talk about football and I don't want to talk about football because I've got no interest or knowledge about football and he just and he just ignores it he

just carries on talking about what he was talking about a bit like me on these podcasts I said to him I said years ago I said look you should make your own podcast on sport you love talking about it no doubt you're going to find people that will enjoy listening to you because you're so passionate about it and you're so knowledgeable why don't you instead of I didn't say that but instead of boring other people that aren't interested I didn't say that bit but I'm that was kind of my thing like instead of talking to

people that don't want to listen about football or about sports why don't you talk make a podcast because you're talking at people anyway so it's not a conversation so what it's why don't you talk into the microphone and you you know you may have an audience out there who will be interested in listening because he is funny he's very knowledgeable he's got a lot of energy and the enthusiasm it just happens to be a subject that I'm not interested in so I can't listen I can't contribute um in boxing that's probably the one sport that

he's least interested in and he tries to have a conversation about it but because I know a lot more about it than him and he'll say statements that just he doesn't even watch he listens on the radio you know I watch practically every fight that there is you know it's I guess it's kind of a maybe is it a hobby I don't know maybe but I'm fairly knowledgeable I would say about what's going on in the boxing world like both here and in America on the various different weights so I'm not sort of stuck when

I was in the 90s I was very much it was all about English fighters really because they're the only ones I've really got to see I used to I used to read and KO magazine and Ring magazine so there's two boxing magazines I used to read in the 80s and 90s so I used to be able to sort of be up to date with who was who and but it's not the same as actually watching them and the only time I read the I suppose the only real American fighters that I really got to see

how many times can I say the word really in this monologue I don't know really really really really really I suppose you know in the 80s there was Hagler that's when I really boxing caught fire for me now I watched boxing when I was a kid I saw the first fight I remember is Ali and Holmes and Holmes beat Ali up completely for 15 rounds or 12 rounds it got stopped I think so I don't know how many rounds it went but he beat him up and it was I didn't know really I mean I

was what must have been about nine at the time so I didn't really know who Muhammad Ali was it was I know he was you know huge during my lifetime well he was huge all the way you know he's always a big star wasn't he but in in his boxing career in the 70s he was you know massive but I never got to see boxing I don't think when I was little I might have seen some stuff I mean but I don't remember you know I don't remember so that was the first fight I think

that one was Baron McGuigan winning the world title and saw a few of Frank Bruno's fights in the early 80s and Frank Bruno was a big star outside of the ring as well as in the ring in fact he's probably more bigger outside of the ring at one point in his life because he was on television loads and he was a celebrity and he was I say he was a big star and so there was him so I'm just thinking like while I was at school and I used to listen to the I don't know

if it was like their fight was he fought Bugner in the 80s and he fought he I remember there's only two fights I remember not not only two fights I remember but two fights I remember particularly that I I think I listened to them on a radio because I wasn't able to watch them on television now I don't know why I wasn't able to watch them on television perhaps they weren't being filmed but why wouldn't they wouldn't they be filmed these why wouldn't they not showing it on television unless they showed it on Sky but

then Sky wasn't I don't even know if it was around then Sky TV or if it was it was in his infancy and this is the middle of the 80s and but Frank Bruno fought a bloke called Jerry Kutsia who's a South African fighter and he also fought Bugner who is what I technically another South African fighter but he was Australian South African and English he kind of moved around a bit and I'm pretty sure I listened to those on the radio I definitely listened to the Jerry Kutsia fight on the radio because I was

at school and it was on a I'd imagine it'd be on on a Saturday night but I don't know but I listened to it on probably radio five or something like that and it's yeah I mean I know I'm always moaning about my neighbor he listened you know but listening on a radio can be quite good actually the commentators are pretty good because because it's on the radio they know that the person is listening so they they they put more effort into their descriptions so it's probably better to listen to the radio and watch it

on TV with the volume down because depending on the delay as well that's the that's the other issue there might be a delay so it might not sort of be in in sync yeah I didn't think about that but I remember those two that so I used to get excited about Frank Bruno and if you don't know who Frank Bruno is I'll explain um he pretty much my generation my generation um not in the 70s because I was born in 1970 but I think I say my generation I'd say from you know from the age

of 10 onwards he was until now so um from the age of 10 until the age of 25 let's say 26 Frank Bruno was pretty much the top the most popular heavyweight in the UK now the fact is he wasn't the best heavyweight um just as far as not even in the UK as far as Lennox Lewis goes because Lennox Lewis won the world title um Lennox Lewis also beat Bruno knocked Bruno out and but that didn't stop Bruno's popularity so Frank Bruno was more popular than Lennox Lewis was in the UK even though Lennox

Lewis won the world title three times and had some of the best fights out there and he beat everybody pretty much that came that was around in in his era so he and he never he got the most of his career was in America really like once he sort of became world champion I don't know if how many fights he had outside of America not many so he was more famous in America than he was here in the boxing world and that was a shame because he was brilliant he was and I think at the

time we've see this is boring isn't it you know that's what I'm saying if someone's talking to you about something that's of no interest to you it's boring it doesn't mean that the subject's boring or that the person's boring it just means that you're hearing about stuff that you've got no interest in and it's boring that's that's might be my own for my whole philosophy for um this podcast and for you know hearing other people's stuff it's not always boring depends but hearing about somebody else's interest it can be really really boring it doesn't mean

that they're boring a boring person or that they're the thing they're interested in is boring as a thing it's just you find it boring you know that's it I mean sometimes someone talking about something that I'm interested in can be boring because I'm perhaps not in the mood or I'm trying to you know someone's talking about um something let's say okay psychology I'm interested in psychology so someone's talking about psychology in some psychological experiment like that's great but I'm trying to have a bath can you leave me alone you know it's just sometimes it's not

convenient you get me I had a girlfriend said that to me once I couldn't like you get me what wow well I counted my books my hypnosis books yesterday and I've got I think about 196 hypnosis books it's not bad is it nice little collection taking me a long time to get them together in fact I've got more hypnosis books now than I had before because I used to have loads and I um you'd have to go back and listen to one of my other podcasts to find out what happened to them but this is

my more recent collection I started collecting in you know when I moved yeah when I moved in here when I first moved here uh got some bookcases and start building up my hypnosis book collection I used to have a lot a lot lot lot lot of philosophy books and I used to have a lot of religious books as well mainly Buddhism, Zen, Taoism uh yeah so Buddhist Buddhist books and I also had a lot of psychology books like text books and stuff like that so I haven't got any of those anymore um I donated the

Buddhist books to the Buddhist Center this is when I I just didn't have any room anymore I just is everything was taking up space and so I donated that I think it was about 60 had about 60 books on Buddhism so I donated them to the Buddhist Center and the philosophy books I gave to the second hand shop a charity shop so yeah so and yeah I don't want to give away my books anymore um even though there's books I mean I'll be honest there's some that I will never read there's one that I looked

at yesterday and it was written so badly that it I it felt like it was written by almost like someone had written it in their language and then trend um not transcribed it whatever converted it into English using some cheap Google thing you know so that it didn't it's not come out properly some of it is quite good but some of it is really like worded like you wouldn't or maybe it's from someone that this English isn't their first language but they've written like they speak which in some ways I like to read something written

how someone speaks I quite like that but it's it was quite difficult on this book it was almost like the words weren't making sense if that makes any sense it wasn't um it was comprehensible or comprehensible in a sense of what they were talking about and you know I could kind of gain from what they said previous to what they said afterwards what the middle bit meant but a hard read excuse me a hard read but almost I got so many books to read how much effort am I going to put into one that is

hard that's difficult and the subject matter is not difficult it's just it's just written quite I don't want to say poorly because I'm not sure if I could do a better job myself but it was yeah what it does do though is when I see that I think I could do a better job I could do a better job than that and there is a little bit of that I mean like I could why don't I write something you know just I mean I've been thinking about writing a book but more there's a couple of

ideas of books that I'd like to write I've talked about it before but I probably talked about every single thing I've ever talked about and probably never talk about anything new ever it's probably just something I've already spoken about considering how many of these podcasts I've done I don't even know what number this is 800 and something I mean it's ridiculous 800 800 let me have a look 800 I'm just going to just check let me bore you to sleep where is it there it is all right so this is number 825 wow 800 and

25 that's quite uh that's quite a lot in it don't you think it's like 825 so yeah I'll probably never come up with an original thought ever now it's just all like just regurgitated stuff from before maybe so what was I gonna say oh 825 can you imagine I mean 825 hours 825 how many hours is that it's 825 Jason yeah I know but how 825 divided by 24 so it's 34 days is that right 835 825 divided by 24 yeah so it's 34 days solid I mean that's you know day and night 24 34

days where you'd be listening continuously that's not that much really is it 34 day can you imagine 34 days every single second of the day listening to me wobbling on wow so 825 divided by so you'd listen if you you could listen to me for over two hours a day if you wanted to listen to all of my podcasts it'd take you over two hours a day for a whole year to listen to everything so there's literally there's two whole years worth of podcasts over two years worth of podcasts if you listen to one a

day so yeah that's it's 820 365 in fact it's even more than that isn't it wow 365 365 times by two 730 so it's two day two years and 95 days it would take so you got two years and 95 days three six nine so two years and three months if you listen to one recording a day that's not bad actually is it really it's a nice little collection I mean it's pointless but it's um you know as far as this is my legacy blimey that's a little bit sad isn't it my legacy is me

is oh can you imagine my dad being all proud you know his bowls club my son he's done so much he's really successful what does he do what does he do then dad well he makes recordings yeah what about um well just talks crap for an hour oh you must be proud no i'm not oh why couldn't he have been a plumber i don't know i think my dad would be prouder he'd have he'd probably be proud of proud of prouder of me if i worked in mcdonald's or in an abattoir or something i think

he'd he'd have a little bit you know have more respect than me doing this this whatever this is it's a shame really i don't i'll be honest i don't live to make people proud of me but no one's ever been proud of me ever weird word really proud i don't really do proud i do i'm so proud i get pleased sometimes with some of the stuff i've done like this has gone quite well it's grown you know i've started something out of nothing i mean this literally was nothing it was just me 35 years old

version of me january 2006 a little bit drunk and just split up with my girlfriend probably feeling sorry for myself a little bit thinking what's next what now what now sitting at my desk and i got books loads of books on hypnosis and psychology and buddhism and you name it i had i had a quite a pretty big i must have about four or five hundred books at that point so i had a lot more books than i've got now but i've got i would say i got more books on hypnosis than i had back

then i got a larger collection of hypnosis books but i had a larger collection of everything back then like overall and and that's probably on my laptop and thinking because i've spent two years well yeah pretty much two years nine nine 2004 in fact it was before 2004 but that's when i launched a website to try and to offer to try and offer a free pain relief service in my local town where i was living now it wasn't a new idea it's something that i wanted to do since 2002 and i'd approached the local hospice

to see if i could volunteer there and help with some pain relief and the hospice lady said to me we need to show us sort of some proof of that this works and stuff and um i didn't really know what to do i didn't like how to prove that or um and i didn't do i wasn't a professional i wasn't professional in the way that i dealt with her because i didn't know how to um or quite what she was after perhaps i should have asked but i ended up writing and going through all my

books the hypnosis books and writing down in handwriting handwritten you know in a big pad and examples and stuff of pain relief using hypnosis and i handed and i went and i handed it to her and i think she was just a little bit like well i don't know yeah we'll get back to you i don't know if i embarrassed myself but i didn't i didn't know how to me for me i'd rather just show you what i can do because what i can do one-on-one is way more effective than what i can do in

a microphone you know i've um something that and this is part of my it's it's possibly an issue i have but it's beneficial in some ways i had this with sales as well once i don't quit basically i don't quit so if someone comes to me because they have let's say i have a phobia for walking over bridges i won't give up until they want to walk over a bridge i kind of almost i will walk over the bridge with them i will you know i will i will devote my life to to getting them

to a point where they can walk over the bridge without any issues it's like it's my it becomes my world even though it might only be for 50 minutes or for an hour but i will but i've had sessions where i've spent three four hours with someone in the past and i don't quit until i get the result i want or it's a result that they want really and but i don't quit and so it's a little bit different from here you know when i make a recording do a hypnosis session um i'm very gentle

it's not that i'm not gentle in person although i haven't i haven't really done anything in person for a long time but i just remember i was because and also the reason really big was the people that i was going to see were seriously ill like really you know it was serious it wasn't there was no messing about you know one woman says to me the lady said to me um if i don't i have to turn up at this to have uh tests at the hospital on tuesday this was on a saturday afternoon if

i don't turn up if i don't go in there and have the tests i'll be taken off the organ donor list so she's waiting for two two lungs transplant and she'd had appointments before and she couldn't even walk into the hospital and they said to her you got one last chance otherwise we'll take you off the list in fact she had to have the met she had to have the tests before she was allowed to be on the list officially but she was she was kind of on the waiting list if i mean she was

on in the process but they said to her they'll take her out of the process if she didn't unless she actually stayed in the hospital and had the day she had to be in there for two days and have all the tests they needed to do to make sure that she was um able to withstand the treatment and the operation because you know it's one of the biggest operations you can have i guess and she was petrified and she'd walked out loads of times couldn't and sometimes couldn't even walk into the hospital so this was

this was a life and death situation a bit quite a bit heavy really for me like oh there's someone here they're trying to help people and uh she didn't seem to like me either so that wasn't good i tried a few bits and bobs she was looking at me like i was i mean honestly if i had pulled my trouser down and farted in her face um while dancing tap dancing i say she i don't feel i got a weirder expressive from her than what i was already getting there was you know the response was

like really quite negative and i just thought nah i'm not quitting and i just settled down for the day i just i was there till the early evening i was there about three and a half hours and at the end of it she was laughing and i think i just exhausted her i exhausted myself as well and she went to the hospital i got a letter she sent me a telling me how it went still got it went to the hospital and she was laughing with the nurses and she she had a good time you

know i mean not all of it was good but you know she was fine and no anxiety issues and that was the problem none at all and she i spoke to her and then she did have the she had the operation and everything and i was planning to see her again before that but it came really quick like in the middle of the night suddenly get to the hospital you know so it was um yeah and i saw her after the operation went and visited her in papworth hospital and did some hypnosis for pain relief

and help her relax and stuff and that was weird because the nurses are so loud they did like a walk into the room like like what are you doing this person's just had a major operation shouldn't you'd like be a bit quiet a little bit it was really quite strange in such a um i don't know i just you know the lungs are hot and stuff it's a very sensitive kind of thing i thought they'd be just a bit gentler like with their but that was so noisy so loud and i kept saying listen i'm

trying to do some helping her to relax and stuff it's like what she's speaking english by the way it wasn't not putting on a foreign accent or anything we'd like it wasn't that because that's not an actual language is it that's not a real not real language she wasn't actually what you mean french no so yeah it was i was quite surprised at how i don't know very loud and she was in a room he had her own private room and it was impossible it just could not get any sense and it wasn't see it

wouldn't matter about the background sound it was the interruptions continuous interruptions that was a thing i've done hypnosis in a cancer ward with someone with you know 12 10 maybe other people in that ward with their families with the nurses with the doctors with the curtain just pulled around and the curtain is not soundproof it's more like a shower curtain really in it great if you want to shower um although he didn't appreciate this but he didn't want to shower uh and but i was talking to him and it didn't matter about the sound as

long as you weren't interrupted that's all a mad and so on that occasion the nurses did leave us alone for half an hour or 20 minutes or wherever it was because we asked like just you know this is important but in that place they just weren't interested they didn't care so that was uh we kind of have to give up in the end i did a little bit but it wasn't really you know i traveled a long way to get there there's a poor me poor me it's strange but anyway that's i don't know how

i got to that it's the point is there's no point the i was sitting at my desk thinking what am i going to do now what am i going to do now and i thought well i could start this pain relief i could because you know the payment at that point the pain relief service the free pain relief service had gone nowhere no one didn't get any interest hardly and i thought maybe i'll give it another go i'll relaunch it i already had a website helpwithpain.

co. uk i thought i'll get a different website freepainrelief. co. uk i think the website i had then and i had the jasonnewland.com as well but you know i was going to have that specifically for the pain relief service and so i did that's what i did i built that website and i ordered about 50 000 not leaflets but they were postcards yeah so with adverts on them for the i was going to do a world record breaking stop smoking session and on the other side i did the free pain relief and so what i did is i put them in shop windows post office windows and delivered them into people's houses through the letterboxes thousands and thousands

and thousands and thousands and i started up i don't know if i put an advert in the paper i might have done and i started to get attention started to get people calling me i had a i had a telephone number especially for it for it you know so i bought a mobile phone just for that and started to get people calling me and i would visit in their homes and do pain relief and then the more i did it the more people started saying well maybe you can help me with this or my daughter

i mean i went around one lady's place and she said my daughter my teenage daughter's got a driving test coming up or something like that and it's like can you help and another woman said oh my daughter's got a phobia of spiders can you help and i did and i didn't really want to be focusing on that stuff i wanted to just focus on the pain relief but it seems to be the way it goes like well i've got this can you help me with this can you help me with this and i was just

i struggled to say no i guess but i didn't want to be dealing with that i just wanted to do the pain relief it's the only thing i was interested in and i kind of wish i'd stuck with that but i didn't and i did for quite a while but then um i started thinking what else can i do and then i got the i applied to volunteer doing relaxation sessions at a an alcohol charity it's like a you know help people to get off alcohol and gambling as well they did but mainly alcohol so

i did i went there and again my i guess the the interview really was me just doing it i just what i said to them look we got the best thing to do is just if you want to know what i do let me show you what i do so a couple of the staff just sat with me and i just guided them i said this is it just guided relaxation that's all it is um but what they did do when i was there to start with i did a a weekly evening because i was

working full time as well or yeah i was at the time i was working full time i did a on a tuesday or monday evening i'd go there for about an hour two and two and a half hours or something and i did a group where i would do different techniques to help them to move away from alcohol so it wasn't just relaxation it was relaxation at the end but before that we did some other things so um that was good and then we moved into doing more relaxation stuff regularly during the week as well

and so i went part-time with my job and then i was headhunted funny enough by the drug rehab center who they kind of knew where who i was involved with and they came into the buddhist shop and said could i suppose you could pass some issues on to jason and they said yeah because i used to work at the buddhist shop and i was connected to the buddhist center and everything so they must have found that out from the charity that i was volunteering at before the other one that was still volunteering at anyway they

uh i went there and i did exactly the same thing i just said look just see what you think and there was about four or five of the staff just sat with me and we did a group relaxation session and they loved it and they said yeah good we'll start doing it if you when can you come and i so i started doing that the relaxation stuff that was probably when i was part-time as well so i was with them i was with the alcohol charity most of 2006 and most of 2007 the elder drug

rehab i was there for um probably maybe the end of 2006 and most of 2007 it got to the point where i was doing about six six relaxation groups a week between the two of them and the staff especially with the drug rehab place the staff used to sit in they used to love it so i used to quite often have like maybe five members of staff sitting uh with me as well so and there's one member of staff that used to do these ear uh acupuncture ear acupuncture things and what acupuncture i don't know

what the proper term is eerie puncture i don't know um but you know see the ears anyway and i used to have it done to me so it was quite nice it was relaxing so i did all that and i was going to continue doing it when i started my university course in september 2007 and but because of the situation i had to move away i had to move i had to get out where i was living and couldn't find anywhere in the town that i could afford because i was on a quite a low

budget with the grant and the student loan so i had to find cheaper accommodation so it meant moving to a different town which was where the university was so it's um i just couldn't be traveling between towns uh as often you know so yeah so i kind of i didn't do it after that you know the group stuff but what i did do is most of my podcasts that or the beginning of you know the podcasts was me recording the group sessions and then just sticking them online because to start with i used to make

they used to the customers used to say oh it's all right listening to you once a week but we'd like to be able to hear you or i'd like to be able to hear you you know more often and they said can you make a cd or something so i did i made some cds and with the help of a member of staff at the alcohol charity and then the drug rehab charity what they wanted cds as well so we kind of shared because they both had quite good connections with each other and then the

cds just would run out so quickly and it was quite expensive to sort of put together so i decided i'll start putting them on my website and then started using the podcast and then you know do it that way that's how the podcasting really started and the videos i was making i was also turned into podcasts as well just extracting the audio and then i started making podcasts separate and you know podcast episodes and yeah so that's kind of how all of that kind of came about really yeah yeah blimey it's a lifetime away though

isn't it 2006 was it now 2022 so three and a half years that'll be 20 years it was 20 years ago today sergeant pepper shop i need to go and get some food my my credit my debit card cancelled itself last two weeks ago and so i had to get it before i was it was fraudulently being used when it wasn't just me using it and i had to phone up i was on the phone for over an hour to get it sorted and then i go to order some food online get a delivery won't

accept my card so i gotta phone the bank up again and i can't face another hour i can't i can't really i really can't maybe i should maybe i've got to but i don't want to i really don't i'm not kidding i really don't anyway so that's it i have to go to the shops and get some food they've now changed the buses now not only have they changed the number of the bus for some reason they've added a three in front of the number so i don't know quite what's going on they're now hourly

instead of half hour hourly i ask you so if if the bus is early that's it you have to wait another hour for the next bus sometimes they're early sometimes they're late is anyone's guess sometimes they don't even drive through the estate they just go straight past if they're running a little bit late or something so i could be waiting there for an hour that's a poor service it used to be every 20 minutes then i went to every half hour now it's every hour what's next every two hours once a month oh well i

do wonder though because on saturdays is every hour so does that mean it's going to be every two hours and sundays is every two hours so they're changing that to every four hours i just don't know anymore i don't get it what i understand i don't know oh well bye for now bye for now i'm gonna go now so remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy do something nice for yourself today lots of love bye bye
