Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland. This is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.
Now, I'm a little bit concerned about the sound quality and it's annoying because I've just purchased, I've just replaced the amplifier thingy, focusrite thing, with a brand new top of the range sexy beast thing that has replaced the old one that I've had for about six years, five years or whatever. And the sound is, it's just, it's not working. It's working, but it's really, really, really low.
And it's really not how I would like it to be, which is a bit annoying. And I'm not sure how to fix it. Because you know, these things should just be plug and play, you know, you plug it in, and it works.
And I've got this whole setup, and it's been working really well. And I might have to just go and get the old one out and put that back on. Because I was getting a better sound from that than I am from the new one.
And that's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. Ridiculous.
So I don't know, I'm gonna have to do a little bit of research to find out what's going on there. I mean, come on. Come on.
I love it. I literally the the audio setup is really good. You know, I've got top of the range microphone, I've got the pretty much top of the range, red box, whatever that does.
And the blue box thing that's you know, so you can tell by my the way my descriptions I'm technically asleep, basically. Right anyway, hello. It's Monday, the 24th of December.
No, it's not 24th of January. 2003. No, not too far 2022.
And in front of me, I have my hands wrapped around the Guinness World Records 2022. So I'm be dipping into this book, as well as some of the other books I got throughout the next few weeks. I mean, this there's enough here to door the whole year probably to just go in and you know, look at I've got puzzle books, I've got the Reilly's believe it or not.
2022. Another book, National Geographic, geographics, 5000 awesome facts. There's infopedia 2022.
As well as other ones I got National Geographic world and wacky facts and photos. 1111 answers to everything. Yeah, it's pretty good.
I've got a nice little collection of books now for this podcast. And it's not very light in here. It's really not very light.
And I don't know. I don't know why. Why is it not very light? That's strange.
In it. I mean, it's what was the time? It's 10 past 11. Now in the morning.
As you probably know, I'm not a regularly don't regularly make recordings in the morning. Or if I do, it'd be early morning, you know, one or two o'clock in the morning, not not this kind of time. However, I've decided to get back to you know, getting into a routine of making recordings regularly.
So yeah, that's what I'm going to be doing. And the thing is downstairs neighbors making a bit of a racket at the moment, I'm not sure what they're doing. There's a lot of banging has been going on for over a week.
And so I don't know what's going on. But hopefully shouldn't shouldn't be too much. But if there is background sounds, all I can do is apologize ahead of time.
Because and if there's anything like huge, you know, I'll try and edit it out. Because it will show up on the graph because at the moment, on the screen of the audio, when I'm talking, it's hardly even registering. And I've taken out going to keep going away.
So I've taken everything apart, you know, and then reassembled. I don't mean taking the innards out of the machines or whatever. But I really thought this would make it even more super duper.
Because it sounds been pretty good. Recently. Oh, let's go to boxing.
228. My favorite topic. 228 here we go.
Here we go. I can hardly see it. This delight so low, I can't see the writing.
Just about. I just realized that this is the Guinness Book of Record, but the information is the same as last year, unless someone's come along and started a new, you know, broken a new record over the last year, it's just going to be the same stuff. Talking about boxes from the 70s and stuff.
Anyway, here we go. Most world titles in different weight divisions. And 30th of November 2010, it goes to Manny Pacquiao.
And for the Philippines, for those, I mean, some people might know who Manny Pacquiao is. Because, you know, it was quite a big thing when he fought Mayweather. Yeah, a few years back.
Yeah, those like that are not really into boxing might have heard his name mentioned. Those that are into boxing, obviously going to know who he is, because he's a superstar. Although he has retired now.
But he, he won a world title at eight different weights, which is phenomenal. It really is phenomenal. He did start off a B, you know, baby weight, you know, he was, he was about 10 pounds that was, you know, and then worked his way up, but I don't know where he went up to.
He started at flyweight. I'm pretty sure he won the middleweight title as well. Wow.
Then he went down to worldweight. I don't know. Anyway, I didn't realize there were eight different weights between featherweight and welterweight.
Because even welterweight is only about 10 stone. featherweight must be about eight stone. So to have eight weights between eight stone and 10 stone.
I mean, two stone is nothing is it really? The idea this makes me laugh sometimes the idea that four pounds is really going to make a difference to a person, you know, their ability to box or to fight or whatever, like four pounds is absolutely nothing. Maybe if you're eight stone four pounds is a lot. But I lose it every time I fart.
Just the gas. I mean, it's four pounds is not most participations Participations in the ring's fight of the year. Muhammad Ali.
It says here, six bouts, he fought in six bouts named fight of the year. Boy, the ring from 63 to 78. Winning four of them.
Okay. Youngest world champion. Wilfred Benitez.
He was 17 years old. Wow. To the WBA lightweight title.
Right? Yeah, because he turned pro age 15 and won his first 25 fights before earning a title shot. Yeah, probably before moving before fighting in America as well. Because you have to be 17 I think to fight in America.
He must have gone to like, you know, one of the Mexico or somewhere like that to fight because they don't have the same age limits. The youngest undisputed four belt world champion. Tiofimo Lopez, who lost his title actually a few months ago.
Yeah, he won it off of Vasily Lomachenko, who was classed as the pound for pound best boxer. This is boring, isn't it? For those that are not interested in boxing, this really is boring. And he, but he wasn't classed as the pound for pound, even though he'd beaten the pound for pound.
You'd think that's how it would work, wouldn't you? If you beat the best, then you become the best, because you've beaten the best. Oh, well, most world title recaptures. Sugar Ray Robinson, he held the middleweight title on five separate occasions.
See, this doesn't make sense. He held it for five separate occasions. Then it says here, he reclaimed it for the fourth and final time on the 25th of March 1958.
But it just said that he held it for five times. Oh, wait a minute. He reclaimed it for the fourth time.
So he'd already had it the first time. Okay, fair enough. But I still think it's luckily my huge intelligence came out to help save the day on that one.
But what have we got here? Most consecutive world title defences. Cecilia Brankus, she's a lady, made 25 defences of a world, a woman's world to weight title between 2009 and 2019. She matched the fate of the feet of the legendary Joe Lewis, who held the heavyweight title.
He held it for 11 years, 252 days. The thing is, there are other boxers that have nearly done that as well. It's 1909 to 1910.
Most consecutive world title defences. Doesn't say 25. Yeah, it's quite a lot, isn't it? First.
See, the women are actually starting to break the records. So that's one record. Another one is first undisputed four belt world champion at two weights.
And Clarissa Shields did that. Another female. So wow.
Trying to think if there are any other females here. No. Most participation.
Okay, that's done. Youngest world champion. So that's done.
Fewest fights to win a world title. Choi Hee-mi from Korea won the vacant WBA women's featherweight title in her first professional fight. Wow, she also became the youngest female world boxer.
World champion age 17. She had defected from North to South Korea four years earlier. Wow.
Youngest world boxing super series winner. Noeo Inui from Japan won the bantamweight division of the world boxing super series age 26 years. He's called the monster.
That's what they call him. He beat Nonito Daenerys in a bout named the rings the fight of the year. This isn't very good.
There's not a lot of stuff in there really. It's one page devoted to boxing and that's it. And I've pretty much read everything out.
I imagine because not a lot of records are broken during a year. They just go through previous records that they've been and just mention them. And I suppose they try and do different ones each year.
So the youngest heavyweight champion of all time was Mike Tyson. But I'm sure they've mentioned that in previous years. They would have mentioned it in the 1987 version of the Guinness Book of Records because he won the title in 86.
Although I think it was December, November or December that he won the record, won the title. Which means it might have been a bit too early to get into the 87 book because they probably publish it months ahead of time. Well, that's it.
I've got nothing else. I don't really interested in sports generally. Criming by dogs, pandemics, odd jobs round up, Hall of Fame, strength and fitness.
Well, I haven't done. I was doing a lot of stuff with the website and trying to get it all up to date. And, you know, the different various recordings with music in the background and stuff, trying to get that all done.
And I've not given up on it, but I just got bored. I got so damn bored of it. That.
I'm just not going to I'm going to do it, but. I almost like put off making new recordings so that I could get that done. And I have got a lot done.
There's a lot done. You know, there is. But then I look at the stats.
Yep. He said stats. No, run for cover.
Now, when I look at the stats for the website, I get people visit every day, you know, but it's not a huge amount of people. And most people, if they go on there, they probably stream because every recording I've ever done that's available is on my website. You can stream it or you can download it to your computer or to your whatever.
And when I make a new recording, I upload it and I put it onto the website as well as being on the podcast. You know, I think with stuff like this, you know, once you've listened. I'm not sure people really listen to the same recording more than once, maybe with the hypnosis, sleep or relaxation sessions.
You know, if you find one that you really like, then it's probably worth listening to it every day. But that's up to you. You know, there's always new ones coming.
So yesterday, I did a relax and sleep hypnosis daily recording. The first one for well over a month. Yeah, yeah, over a month.
So that was nice to do that. And I might do another one today. And I'm also going to look at doing maybe a boring object one, maybe looking at doing a bedtime story time.
You know, start to do some more recordings. The thing that's bugging me, though, is just the sound. It's not how it should be.
So I'm gonna have to do some research. And when it comes to that, all I want to do then is just go to bed. I tell you what it might be.
I had this issue before I remember and I turned the iPad off and let it rest and now turn it on again and it seems to be bad quality. So maybe that's what it is. Maybe it needs to sort of get used to it needs to sort of reset so it can connect better to the equipment.
I don't know. I'm not sure. I mean, it shouldn't be this complicated, really.
It should be very simple. Yeah, it's just a microphone, me talking into a microphone. There's nothing more easier than that.
It should be really, really simple. And the quality depends upon the equipment. So I've got a really good microphone.
I've got all this other stuff. This should be really good. So there's no and this is just my voice is just gone weird.
As my voice is maybe my voice is just that is hissing. No, it's not quite that bad. But in order to get a decent sound, I have to have a very low, which means it's picking it up very low on the microphone.
And then I have to increase it. The sound, which is an ideal, if you know what I mean. This Guinness Book of Records is not that good.
Okay, we need to go to some of the weird stuff like longest toenails and stuff like that. That's after all, let's face it, that's what made the Guinness Book of Records popular. The book with all the pictures of the freaks, you know, let's put it this way.
There's people that like really, really tall or people that have transformed themselves with surgery or like put lots of rings around their neck, so they look like a giraffe or the most piercings in the world on their face. Tallest person, fattest person, heaviest person, shortest person, you know, all that stuff, which is it can be amusing, can't it? I mean, you shouldn't laugh at it. Well, you laugh at what you laugh at, don't you? Ultimately, if you see someone nine foot tall next to someone that's two foot tall, and they're wrestling, that's going to be funny to watch.
Right, let's have a look. This is superlative statues. What the hell does that mean? Superlative.
Okay. Wow. The shortest man.
These are people that are living now. There was a one that passed away that was shorter, but these are all living people. The shortest man is from Bogota in Colombia.
Edward Nino Hernandez, two foot 4.3 inches or 72.1 centimetres. Who measures themselves in centimetres? Really? Anyone out there does that? Stop it. Two foot four inches.
It said it wasn't until Nino was 20 years old that the cause of his stature was diagnosed as severe hypothyroidism. Size and height don't matter, he insists. I want people to meet who I truly am.
Small in size, big in heart. Yeah, exactly. I wonder what it's like, though.
I mean, in a way, we all know what it's like, but we don't. What do you mean? What do you mean? What do you mean we all know what it's like? What do you mean? What do you mean? Well, what I mean is, we've all been short, haven't we? We've all been little, you know, we, you know, we, okay, we might have been five at a time, but we all know what it's like to be absolutely tiny. Now, I was tiny for a long time.
When I went to high school, when I was about 11, yeah, I was 11, I was tiny. I was little. I was by far probably the smallest child in the school, the whole school.
Tiny little thing I was. That's the whole story. There's nothing else to say there.
That was it. Shortest woman, Jyoti Amge. I'm not sure how to pronounce it.
She's two foot and seven inches, two foot and 0.7 inches. Her vivacious character, her vivacious charisma and determination to succeed has seen her become the shortest actress playing Ma Petit in the critically acclaimed hit US TV show, American Horror Story. I don't remember that.
Shortest teenage twins. So, at the age of 17, males, at the age of 17 years, Zachary and Tristan measured three foot nine inches. Okay, so the, they're identical twins.
Yeah, do look quite familiar, quite similar. One looks taller than the other. But I imagine if you're that kind of height, you're going to be wearing a lot of heels, you know, as much as possible, because I know that every inch can mean the world to you.
It can make so much difference. Let's get back to height. Four shortest twins, four foot two inches, female.
Isn't that interesting? So the shortest boys were actually shorter than the shortest girls, twins. Tallest twins, ooh. Identical twins is a female, Anne and Claire Recht.
Both from the USA, both from the USA. Why did they put both? I mean, technically, I suppose if a baby's born in a, in different countries, you know, on the border, you'd have popped over the border. But it's a hell of a lot.
You know, if you're in America, standing on the Mexican border, just so you can say that you've got two twins, but they're from different countries. Come on. Why? Why did they put that? I'm never going to get over that, ever.
I've never been so angry. We were each found to have an average height of six foot seven inches. That's not a height, is it? It's not at all.
I mean, it's tall, but not, it's not Guinness Book of Record tall. That's just tall. Loads of people, there's loads of people out there that are six foot seven.
There's a few. There's five. No, there isn't.
I know someone that's six foot seven, and he is very tall, but it's not Guinness Book of Record tall anymore. Tallest male twins. Oh, that's female twins.
Six foot seven. Wow. Yeah, fair enough.
Seven foot. Tallest firefighter. It's random, isn't it? Why did they pick a job? Tallest firefighter.
What's wrong with tallest accountant? Tallest burger flipper in McDonald's. They choose firefighter out of all the different jobs that they could possibly choose. Brandon Berridge became the first person confirmed as GWR.
By GWR. What's that? Guinness World Record, I suppose. As the tallest living firefighter.
He operates out of the Tullahoma. Tullahoma Fire Department in Tennessee, USA. However, just as we're going to press for this edition, we received photographic evidence in support to a claim from Alan Mulkey of Harrison County, Texas, USA.
Shows him measured at seven foot three. Although we can't further, we await further evidence. Oh.
Image shows him being measured. Where? Where? There's no measurement image, no image here showing anyone being measured. So why are they why are they saying image shows him being measured? Oh, that's the evidence they received.
This is a very unclear book. Maybe I'm a bit too literal. Tallest teenager.
Seven foot five. Well, the tallest NBA player, seven foot five. Now seven foot five.
He's a monster. That's just ridiculous height. Six foot seven is huge.
If you if you're in a room, if you see someone six foot seven, they just they can't get through the door. They have to bend their head down to get through the door. Seven foot five.
Imagine that. I mean, you'd literally. I don't know, you'd have to.
Would you have to get down on your knees to get through a door? I mean, it'd just be practically impossible, wouldn't it? How would you? Yes. Oh, oh. Most tattoos of a musician.
I say this quietly because one of my friends really into tattoos, but I can't stand them. I don't I don't hate them. I just don't like them.
I just don't see the point. I've got one that I had when I was 16. And the only reason for that is because I was I was just I was on a bus with my friend and a friend of my brother's my older brother's got on the bus.
And I said to him and he said, oh, where are you going? I said, oh, no, we're really just plodding along, hanging out. And my friend said to him, where are you going in chump? Where are you off to then, matey? And he said, I'm going to get myself a tattoo, which my other my friend said, we like to do that. That sounds like a grand idea.
And we ended up going along with him. My friend had a tattoo Scottish flag on his shoulder, I think. And I think it went septic.
And I like to think it did. That's one of my happy memories. No, I'm joking.
And it pretty sure did. And I had mine and it was just like a little Chinese dragon on my forearm. And that was it.
But I just can't see. I've seen one female that I found attractive that had tattoos. And she had huge amounts of tattoos.
Normally, I'm not really that into it. I don't care that much a few tattoos because loads of people, millions of people got tattoos. So it's, you know, it's not that big a deal.
But this particular woman, I banged into her coming out of, she was coming out of a comic book store in town. And she was like, oh, wow, really just I found her to be quite appealing to the visuals, to my visuals. And so her purse was on the floor.
And the contents kind of like spread over the pavement. And I thought, I should help her, you know, I mean, she might help her get pick her stuff up and maybe talk to her. And I thought, she's probably got a boyfriend.
So I just kicked the purse into the road and walked off. I didn't do any of that. Why would I do that? You're horrible.
I can't believe you do stuff like that. Kicking purses into roads. You're an awful, awful person.
I'm not. Well, I am, but I'm not. I would never do anything like that.
I pushed her in the road and I didn't. She, most tattoos of a musician, Eminem, super fan, Nicky Patterson, 15 tattoos of Eminem on her body. Weirdo.
Weirdo. Unless it gives you something. Unless it gives me the feeling of having superpowers.
I don't see the point, personally. Worse than that. Facial stuff.
And basically anything that comes under the context of body art. The only body art I like is body painting. But the stuff that you know, you can rinse it off afterwards.
I think that's beautiful. Some of the body painting is beautiful. I mean, even starting off with just face painting, you know, kids can have it done at the zoo or something and make themselves look like a lion or a tiger or a worm or crocodile or whatever.
That I think is lovely. And then for adults, I've seen adult body painting when they're actually pretty much naked walking around, but no one realizes they're naked because they've got clothes painted on. It seems to me a little bit easier just to put clothes on.
Can you hear that? Hear that noise in the background? Absolutely ridiculous. You hear that? All right, I have to bring the recording to an end because the tossers downstairs are making lots of noise. Damn it.
Oh, well, what on earth are they doing? I don't know. Yeah, I better go. So it's a bit of a shorter recording than normal.
So I do apologize. But maybe I'll have to do the I better go. Thanks for listening.
Oh, bye.
