Hello and welcome to jasonnewland. com My name is Jason Newland This is Let Me Bore You To Sleep Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep So, hope you're well etc Put your pen down, put the top on first So, today is Sunday the 5th of September And it's 10. 53pm Two thousand and two one Yes, it really is September Already, already it's September And I can't get my head around it I can't get my bonce around it I don't understand how can a year go so quickly So quickly, yet so slowly So exciting, yet so boring at the same time So much going on, yet nowt, nowt going on So yeah, September Does anything happen in September?
Nothing No, nothing happens I suppose if you're a kid you go back to school in September Or a college, university, you go back to your educational establishment in September Outside of that No, there isn't anything, is there really?
I mean, it might be in your life, you know, for your own thing Birthdays, it's one of my brother's birthdays in September But I haven't seen him for years, so Saves me money on presents Trying to think There's always a silver lining No, I think the next thing, like, you know The nation That does, like, you know Blimey, that was weird Just had this moth, and A very lazy moth, because it just decided not to fly And it, like, it stopped flying and it just floated down It's not alive, it just Maybe it fell asleep
And it just floated down, like Nice and gently, onto the tabble Yeah, there's not much that happens in September But October you've got, we've got, what's it, Halloween Then November, there's, what's it, fireworks night And then December Quishmash Oooh So yeah The weird thing about it is There's a lot of really, really thin people out there that Can't stand the winter, because it's cold And if fatties like me Couldn't care, it's like Bring on the cold, it don't affect me Anything above minus degrees is fine Below minus degrees, yeah, OK, it can be a bit
uncomfortable But I can handle, you know, anything Down to minus degrees Depending on the wind And I'm talking, not my own I'm talking, you know, if it's windy then that does Accelerate the temperature, doesn't it Or deteriorate the temperature, however you want to look at it So Minus degrees could be like minus four, minus five With a wind factor I could be a weather girl So yeah, I Don't bother me Really, not that bothered But there's a lot of benefits to the winter To the cold One of the benefits is, if you're tired Just go
outside And you won't be tired anymore, because it's cold You know, the waking up, getting up for work I used to like the winters sometimes for that Because I'd wake up and I was just half asleep And as soon as I got outside The cold air just instantly woke me up I was wide awake So That's useful I'm not a big fan of the dark Longer, darker days and nights That doesn't appeal to me Never really been You know, I think the worst Is not so much It getting lighter later I don't care about that
But the afternoons Because sometimes It's almost Like the day's over by about 3 o'clock It starts to get dark You know And even though it's not really dark It's just cloudy and dull And then, you know, by 4 o'clock it's dark It's like, blimey Yeah, it's ridiculous So the afternoons you kind of got to write it off I mean But It depends what you do, doesn't it?
Depends what you do Yeah I'm not sounding like I really like winter I'm not thinking about it No, I hate it I bloody hate winter I'm not bothered, really The only weather that really Disrupts what I'm doing If I'm going out Is rain Wind doesn't bother me I mean, pretty much I can walk in a straight line In a hurricane Because I'm so heavy It doesn't really affect me Of course, it can be dangerous Because of the debris and stuff We don't have hurricanes here We've had one hurricane in my lifetime In that case, you
do have hurricanes in We had one It's not a regular thing It's like 1987 The last time The country had a hurricane And the first time I think, during my lifetime So it's not a regular thing And it was devastating It really devastated the country, really So My heart goes out You know, a little bit to people that do go through that Because it's But at least you're prepared I mean, we weren't prepared Because we don't get them And we were told Well, we were told The country, by the weather forecast At that time So
in the evening Michael Fish He's very famous For those that aren't from this country You wouldn't probably know You might have seen it on YouTube But basically, what he does He comes on and he says And this is the evening news Maybe 10 o'clock news or something And he says Oh, I had a It probably would have been a letter No, wait a minute It wouldn't have been an email Blimey How did they get that message in?
Maybe someone phoned in Because there was no internet back then There was no emails Letters were stale mail So there's no way they could have Sent a letter in about the weather for today Because The weather forecast Wasn't planned very far ahead They didn't have the technology It seemed to be Very predictive with what the weather Was going to be like Not like now They seem to be able to almost do it a month ahead Which is crazy But a lot of that Is just based on what's going on else in the world Isn't it?
It's all changeable It can change with the wind Literally Anyway, he said Someone said there's going to be a hurricane I can assure you there's not And then The whole country woke up to a hurricane And So That's different I mean It's horrible when this stuff happens And people get injured or worse With hurricanes And stuff like that But if you know it's going to happen Like literally You know you're living somewhere And it's going to happen that year You know I suppose At least you've got A chance to prepare Or in my case A
chance to move Why would you live somewhere where there's hurricanes But that's just not something that I would do You know I wouldn't live next to A swamp with alligators in either You know what I mean I wouldn't Move somewhere where There was regular Flooding I wouldn't do that I wouldn't even move in Somewhere like that Renting a room I wouldn't do that Because you know Or I might and not know Because if you rent and you don't necessarily You don't do that much due diligence To be fair Especially usually Because I'm homeless and I've
got to find somewhere very quickly But if I was going to buy a property You'd do a bit of research Wouldn't you and you'd find out what the area was like And the history of the area And Premises wise And what's happened in that house As much as you can find out And you know google it and see Guess what I did when I moved here I googled the area And found out kind of All of the stuff pretty much that's happened in the last 20 years or since the internet's been around That's happened in
this area And there was nothing Really that put me off coming here So I did you know I did a little bit of research Now if there was Regularly typhoons appeared You know every July Ripping off The roofs of our houses And stuff I might not have moved in You know I might have moved somewhere else So I guess Maybe this must be a very different Outlook For people I don't know Maybe there's just I suppose if you're born in a place And all your family And your friends live there Then I suppose some people
want to live Close to their family and friends don't they And are Willing to put up with Torrential weather Which could Be avoided if they moved away Possibly but then Moving away is expensive as well Isn't it I guess There's so many variables There's like monsoon season You can't moan about it really can you It's every year There's a monsoon every year It rains A years worth of rain in Three days every single year Around the same time You can moan or do something About it Putting flood defences up And I'm surprised the whole country
Or the whole world In fact isn't preparing For what's Likely to come And they're not putting Flood defences up To stop the Thames And all the other rivers In the UK For when they burst their banks But nothing Seems to be done Nothing seems to I mean you know It's amazing to me really There doesn't seem to be a lot of preparation It's very slow This country in actually preparing You know do something After Like an event A horrible event So It seems to be a lot of that So for example Looking at the safety
Measures of A ferry So looking at the safety measures Of ferries making sure that The safety measures are done Properly and making sure that Doors are locked Shut before the ferry Takes off and that Comes in after a ferry disaster It's like why wasn't it done Before We had a building that Um Burnt down About three years ago Big big thing over here Terrible terrible And then the government Looks at this all this Stuff that's on the sides Of the building that's flammable Highly flammable So now they're going to do something about it And start
removing it Off of like I don't know how many Hundreds of tower blocks around the country Why would you put Flammable material On the sides of a building That has hundreds of people living in it Right and it's like You wouldn't put flammable Material on your settee would you On your sofa You wouldn't wear flammable Trousers I mean I thought that was like Standard stuff Curtains are supposed to be non flammable Aren't they pretty much anything you buy It's supposed to be non flammable I mean it has labels With non flammable on there I admit
I haven't tested Everything I own to see if it's Burnable because that would Be A bit of a strange thing to do Probably A safe thing to do I guess To test but I don't want to I don't you can't make me I don't want to I have to put a bit of trust in that But living in a council property I don't know What's in there what's flammable I don't know When I did move in Believe this When I moved in I had to Sign a document To say that I was ok With moving
in here Knowing that parts of This flat Has asbestos Now my grandad died from Asbestos Asbestos Poisoning So it's a little bit of a touchy Subject with me I didn't really understand Much about asbestos My dad as an electrician Worked with asbestos Not worked with but worked In environments with asbestos For probably most of his Career So fingers crossed he's ok It hasn't affected him But who's to say Asbestos Was Like a miracle material Isn't it like anti-flammable Isn't it something Things were made of asbestos Because it doesn't burn or something like that I don't
know I'm not sure It was like a miracle substance That was used by everyone Something that they Created and thought This is brilliant everyone should use it A little bit like the vaccine The latest vaccine Everyone should have it now Give it to Give it to toddlers Wow I'm surprised they don't inject it into fetuses Really like They just love the vaccine The ongoing experiment As I like to call it So yeah I think it's I don't know what the point is Winter is coming But we've got autumn first I should explain what that is
Some people might call it Fall It's not it's autumn I guess fall is like a slang A slang A slang name for it But we don't know a slang name For anything else Any other of the seasons Do we?
Is there a slang name for summer? I don't know It might be What about Spring Is there a slang For spring? Another word that people use for spring What about winter?
But autumn Fall I don't I should look into it I should just google it Find out why How people ended up calling it fall But it's autumn So when I say autumn I just want to explain What I'm talking about Because some people might not actually know And also because in the UK More and more of the younger people Are starting to kind of speak American As an example Instead of saying Z Saying Z I've heard it I've heard people People born here Educated in this country But saying Z Instead of Z In this country
it's Z I know in America it's Z I'm not arguing the case It is what it is And I didn't realise it was Z But if anyone that watches Sesame Street Finds out It can be a bit confusing But I used to love Sesame Street I used to watch it When I was a kid So It was funny The only thing that was wrong was the Z bit It was Z But Like Jay Z It's Jay Z But In England Not in America It's Jay Z But I've heard English people say Z I've also heard
English people say My bad Oh That's the wrong thing to say to me My bad Oh Don't say that to me I just find it It's almost like a false thing It doesn't even Does anyone say it?
I was watching This TV programme Called Power And it's about A nightclub owner He's a drug dealer Turned nightclub owner Who wants to go straight But the life Or as they say The game keeps bringing him back The game keeps bringing him back And so he's And he's got a partner Who he's been lifelong friends with And he The other His partner wants to Stay on the streets He loves the dealing and all the horrible stuff And so There's a conflict there It's I'm being very simplistic With the description because there's a lot more to
it Way too many love scenes I had to actually fast forward The love scenes to get to What was really going on I think what made it worse is They kept showing the same two people In love scenes We don't need to see it twice I mean That's a relationship isn't it?
I don't want to see I mean you're seeing the same person naked twice What's the point in that?
So I don't want to see either of them Like the man, I don't want to see him I don't want to see the wife I see her for the first time, I have a little look Oh great, lovely And that's it, I don't want to see her again I've seen it, it's done It wasn't interesting particularly the first time I was intrigued And then like oh okay Just another body and then moved on I don't want to keep seeing the same people Getting naked And like kissing It's horrible Occasionally, I mean she ended up Dating
a couple of different men He ended up dating a few different women So every time there's a new one I'm like okay I'll watch this Just to see A little bit of it But that was boring so I fast forwarded it And then they'd show him and her again Like another time Why would I want to see it twice?
Why?
Why would anybody want to see The same two people First of all I'm not really doing anything Because it's just a TV show There's nothing interesting to see Nothing real It's just them Getting kind of naked and kissing That's about it A bit touching And like okay When I was 14, 15 I loved it But I'm not anymore So I'm like It's pointless It takes away from the The enjoyment of the TV show For me It's a waste of time It literally is a waste of time If they took that out They probably 100 hours
Spent watching that TV show All the seasons 100 hours probably I reckon you could take 20 hours out just from That boring stuff Seriously And also conversations When they're talking When the men and women Talk like This is relationships Like oh I love you Oh I love you too That's boring It's like For me Love making Being romantic My stomach's gurgling Tonight Any kind of romantic stuff Whether it's conversations Anything like that Especially love making Undressing, all that Flirting, all that stuff To me is in the same category As having a poo You never see
them having a poo do you Never seen them on the toilet For 10 minutes straining No, so I think that should be In the same category Don't want to see it In fact I'd rather see them on the toilet having a poo Struggling and straining Than see someone in bed Just urgh You know So let's stick that or get rid of all that stuff Because it's not needed It's just toilet stuff isn't it It's just unnecessary So yeah Apart from that There was a lot of I don't know how much If it was real As
far as the language they were using Because they were trying to use street language And One term was I haven't seen you in a minute I haven't seen you in a minute That hasn't happened in a minute In other words Hasn't happened for ages For a long time A minute means a long time I haven't seen you for a minute I said it too often Said it too often And you know Talk to each other Say we've got to see each other We've got to sort out that hit No doubt No doubt So I heard
that a lot No doubt You know I'm good for it No doubt It's got to be very confusing So I see you That's what I say When I'm meeting up with someone They say Where are you I'm just on the bus I'll see you in a minute I don't think It's going to be years They're going to be years A minute They'll be here soon It's the opposite It's like early 2000s 2004 2003 The first time I heard this expression here Was sick That's sick In other words good Brilliant fantastic Wonderful And I'm worried that
people And these were adults Saying it This is someone in his I don't know 25 26 years old was saying this to me And I don't know if you can hear that The coca cola bubbling And my stomach's bubbling as well But yeah I feel I might need to go to the toilet That's interesting So He used to say sick And I thought How Worrying would that be Imagine if Someone that used that terminology Was Intelligent Now he was intelligent So I should stop there But let's say they were a doctor Working in a hospital
And you go in and see them And they say can I help you And you go in And you've got like the worst illness You've ever had And you say yeah doctor I'm sick And they say oh that's brilliant Good for you And I walk away Like oh good for you No I'm sick I'm not saying I feel happy I'm not feeling wonderful I'm feeling sick man It's got to be confusing When people start using Nonsensical Terminology I mean the English language Is so full of Just weirdness To start with So it's A very confusing
language I don't know if others are as well I know some Languages are kind of back to front So Compared to English So like The apple tastes good Tastes good does the apple You know Isn't that German isn't it It sort of speaks like that So it's I used to be friends With a German person, German girl, woman And I should have Asked her But I think it is It's just done different, spoken differently And it Sounds so weird when you say it In English Sitting at the table I am I mean that's Almost like
The little fairy Jedi isn't it Speaking like that Yoda, that's Yoda speak Isn't it Feeling comfortable I am Hungry I feel Yeah I suppose you could do it with anything At the cinema I sit My job What's it, my job walk into I am I don't know So yeah I don't know any other languages Thankfully Not really got my head around English Not really It's difficult It's a very Vague at times Language And It's just sometimes Sometimes it is up for Interpretation what someone says Because the sentence doesn't Necessarily, it could have different meanings Hmm
I could give you lots of examples Well I can't Because I can't think of any but if I did think of some I could give them but We all know what they are anyway Just Basic Say something to someone And they say well I don't think Maybe it's not because we don't ask what people mean I do If I am interested If someone is just talking I am not really listening Then I don't ask people to explain themselves But if I am actually interacting In the conversation And it's someone that Maybe the conversation Is about
me or affects me I will find out what A person means I won't just assume When I think the first time I really ambiguous Ambiguous Ambiguous Language patterns When I was a kid Coming home With a friend Well just as I was leaving school For the end of term Or the end of the year or whatever We had our report cards That we had to take home To our parents Now My friend Said to me These are the words he said He said I spoke to the English teacher And he said Your Your report card
You've got the best grades you've ever had Honestly I thought he was talking about me He wasn't He was talking about himself I went to the teacher And he said He said to me Well even that Was the same thing He said to me You've got the best And he looked at me Honestly I thought he meant me So I handed in my report card To my dad With all the marks from the teachers To say how I was doing I was so cocky I stood there Had my hands in my pockets Shaking my head
around Ponytails going everywhere Flopping around Knocking the goldfish off the bowl I just Feel really cocky What are you going to do with that dad Are you going to get angry now Are you going to get angry because I get too many A's Just because there's too many you can't count Anyway My report card didn't have any A's Or any B's Or any C's A few D's a few E's Which is funny because in some context I love D's and E's What's that Facebook Keep getting notifications I swear I turned off all notifications on my
phone Yet I still get these Pointless notifications And it's never about anything Interesting Never Never Never I don't get notified when people comment on my posts Or anything like that I don't think I even get notified When I get a message But I get notified when other people Post stuff People that I don't even know You know Herbert McVervet is going live Making a pottery Ashtray Lovely Yeah brilliant Yeah What's her name What's her name Ali Not Sherbert Sherlock Ali Oh my goodness I forgot Anyway she's a singer from Ireland And she was on Singing
live Doing a stream on Instagram So I was watching that earlier Ali With Sherlock Is her surname Is it Ali Abby, Elise, Ali I think it's Ali Blimey The name is going out of my head I can visualise her What she looks like And I know her surname is Sherlock Sherlock Holmes Ali Yeah She should be a big star To be fair She already kind of is But She's known worldwide Through what she does online And I think she's She's got to be 18 now 16, 18 or something And she started when she was a
girl A little girl And she's got a YouTube channel Which she must have Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions Of video views Of her singing Like a lot A lot And She's got A huge following A huge following I think she's got like She's got millions of subscribers I think as well In fact let me check it out Come on let me check it out Skip stupid She's still busking She still goes on the streets in Ireland And with her dad And busks he films it And she does live broadcasts And Sings cover songs
And also sings her own songs I don't know what the rules are For YouTube If you're seeing a cover version I'm not sure if you're able to Monetize Or if you can Part monetize Because based on her stats If she was monetizing She'd be well off I mean literally If I can tell I can tell you exactly Anyway I love all this YouTube Stats What is it SocialBlade There's a thing called SocialBlade And you can check Ok AliSherlock 769 uploads 4.
8 million subscribers Video views 748 million 975 1014 Created her channel In 2014 26th December So she was a kid 7 years ago So she was probably about 11 When she started that 10 or 11 And Wow Video views Average daily You ready for this 577 835 Video views A day Last 30 days 17 million 335 Now I don't know If she can monetize Because Of cover versions I don't know what the rules are I think YouTube will have to be A bit arsey to not Reward someone That's bringing that many people To YouTube That's
huge isn't it Absolutely massive In my wildest dreams That would be If I had For me to have the best YouTube channel I could ever imagine If I was doing What I do now on YouTube I kind of do but if I was making videos As successful As I could be That's beyond My dreams to have 17 over 17 Million video views a month Is Phenomenal It's absolutely phenomenal It's just Amazing to have nearly 5 million Subscribers And she's not even 18 yet I don't think It's phenomenal It's just wow For anyone of any age
What Wow So According to this Estimated Monthly earnings would be 2.
8 thousand To 45. 1 thousand A month That's pounds Not dollars And 33.
8 thousand To 540 thousand A year So You're looking I'd say For that amount of video views Should be at least I'd say half a million a year If you look at me now I love to make fun of myself it's horrible isn't it Uploads 1,791 Subscribers 537 Video views 26,338 User created March 15th 2018 So it's quite a new channel really Earnings It's not monetized I can't even monetize it yet Although I've got a C plus grade So my grade is pretty good Ali's got a B plus I'd say she's probably got a double
D So One I estimate monthly Earnings 21 pence Up to 3 pound Or yearly 2 pound to 40 pound And video views Average in daily 43 Oh my god Monthly 1,281 That's just Embarrassing Why have I shared that with you That's just embarrassing On all levels From all angles That was among the most embarrassing Things I think I've ever actually said out loud It's nowhere close actually I don't know why I said that But you get my drift See I don't show off I I'm kind of If things are going well I think I share
it Because I'm kind of almost Surprised And Maybe a little bit Overwhelmed sometimes at how I know Okay if you compare Yourself It don't matter what you do If you start comparing yourself with other people It's I don't think it's useful necessarily Because there's always Going to be someone that's better There's always going to be someone that's better Doesn't matter how strong you are Even if you're the World's strongest man You're not Going to keep that title for long Chances are someone else will come along Well they always do And will outstrengthen you Whatever it
is And Even the top tennis players in the world They still get beaten every year They might win overall but they still get beat There's very few Boxers in the world in history Of boxing That have actually retired A world champion undefeated There's a handful There's not many at all really And So it doesn't matter how If you're on a treadmill Or on your bicycle in your bedroom And you're doing Or if you've Got yourself An exercise bike It's easier otherwise you have to keep turning the bike around Every time you get to the wall
And You get fitter If you start thinking Well I'm not as fit As the people on the Olympics That's just going to be Negative it's not going to help you So you know I'm kind of Of the persuasion of Improving You know Compete with myself But gently Yeah because I can't compete I can't compete with someone That has 300 300 million Downloads A month on their podcast I can't compete with that How can I It's impossible It's just It's not even something that I would aim for It's just You know if someone's getting 10 million
downloads a day For someone like me I might get 10,000 a day 10 million is just It's what a thousand Times that or something I mean it's I suppose it's possible in the future I mean my goal I guess my ultimate goal would be to get a million A day It's not that far off It is 10 million A million and 10 million There's But then once you get to a million 2 million is possible isn't it But I've got to get the 100,000 first Which means I've got to get I've got to get to
20,000 first Which is possible It's a doable thing 20,000 But it takes time And I'm still Kind of mildly impressed Of how it's gone And A little bit surprised A little bit like well Why Why How come It's kind of like some kind of exponential Growth It just seems to just happen Every now and then there's this little Spur of growth It's kind of it's gradually doing All the time but Every few weeks or every couple of months Suddenly It'll just start to Be more views Or more listens And then it never goes down It
never seems to go down below A certain level Once it hits that level It just doesn't seem to I don't know why I don't know Again I'm not bragging because there's nothing To brag about because I almost feel like So much of it is out of my Hands really I make a recording And I upload it I do what I need to do Make it sound ok Hopefully edit it There's not a lot, a huge amount to do I just upload it And I Almost just let the internet do the rest A little bit of
promotion I do, there's a few little bits And bobs I do and I'm trying to Increase some of that And work on it and improve it But it just seems to So much of it Is almost out of my hands It's like I do 10% and The 90% is done by After I've recorded After I've uploaded it 90% Of the work is Done then from Not work but you know Because I could Upload Hundreds of What I do, I could probably I don't know how many I do a year but a lot I upload a
lot of recordings a year Probably I really Don't know, I don't know how many But a lot And I could easily Just have 30, 40 Listens A day I could like just have Maybe a couple of hundred 3, 4, 5, 600 a week Downloads And I might be happy with that I wouldn't now But you know there was a time when I got, in fact there was a Time when I was happy With not many Downloads A few years back A while back but I used to use Soundcloud And Pretty sure I'm losing track now
For some reason I got a memory That I had 200,000 in a year Downloads But it might have been over 2 years No I think It was over a year but previous ones Yeah it took I had 220,000 It took I think 3 years to get that 2 to 3 years And then I deleted That podcast and I opened another podcast On Soundcloud again For some reason I think because I was Trying out other places and Testing out different Podcast hosts So I've used them all over the years That's another thing that actually I think
helps is Sticking to just one Place Keep opening different Podcasts With different hosts and then Changing hosts or with Websites as well It messes things up The internet then has lots of Links that aren't even like dead Links that don't take them anywhere for you And Instead of A direct link to what you're actually Doing So it's good Well in my experience It's been better to just stick With One host, one website One, not just one website But one website host Of course have as many websites As you want, you can do whatever you want
really But that consistency Which wasn't something that I really Stuck to very often When I was younger When I was just a lad When I started out on this This journey of podcasts and videos And hypnosis When I was a youngster You know I was What old I was at the time I was 35 years old I was only 35 Believe Swear down I was only 35 years old Wow I'm now 51 years old Wow How ridiculous is that I was 35 years old I was a young'un I still had hormones Back then Can you
believe it I was still producing You know That gooey stuff I was still almost like a man Back then I've stopped being a man For years now really I'm a I'm like a monk But without Any chance of getting into heaven I'm not well I'm sure not all monks Can get to heaven but you know I was going to say priest But then I thought no that's not a good example But monk So yeah I just A monk with With no benefits A monk with no Benefits at all my dear Yes What was I talking
about Hurricanes Am I 35 Podcasts Yeah Yeah I Oh blimey The whole Podcasting Things strange but yeah on SoundCloud To get 200,000 plus Downloads I was pleased with that Even though it took like a couple of years On one of them And I Thought 100,000 downloads is good In a year And It's just It's weird just the way it goes It's I'm not sure that I'd have a lot more than 100,000 or 200,000 That I had back then but As things have grown and as I've Done different podcasts and Put the effort in And try
to Be fairly Regular Yeah I've not gone anywhere have I Even Even during the Most difficult of times I've kind of still stuck around I might I might take a bit of time off Every now and then for a few days or A week sometimes But I still keep going It's because I've got nothing else I do wonder I need this more than the people that listen Not so much Some people say Because I get to talk about stuff I don't think it's that so much It gives me purpose It gives my life purpose And
not just This podcast The Let Me Boy To Sleep I'm talking about the other stuff I do as well The ones that are actually helpful to people So yeah It gives my life purpose But I can't always Remember that I don't always remember it I sometimes think what's the point Is anyone Even though I know statistically That people are listening And my podcast host Has a very Detailed Statistics And they abide by Some I think it's an advertising Statistic Podcast Thingamajig Thing Where they have to produce Correct stats So they can't They can't pretend They
can't say Oh you're doing really well You've got 100,000 downloads This week And you think oh brilliant I'll keep paying the podcast host Because loads of people are listening When only maybe 35 people have listened They can't do that, they're not allowed to By law Because they abide by this thingy That's very technical I could tell you I could read it to you Because I've actually got the information At hand but I can't be bothered So they're very Specific They can tell me Which How many Exactly how many Downloads have come from Different places Spotify
Apple Podcasts Is the top That's the most Downloads I get from anywhere else That's the one, that's the top of the pile At the moment for me It's not my top of the pile That's not the one I'm saying go there Because you can get my podcast Go wherever you go To listen, it's up to you Of course I feel quite indebted To Apple Podcasts Because they play my podcasts They're clearly Me and 100 other million people as well I guess But you know I appreciate Just like when I have videos on YouTube And when
I was like YouTube Was on my main focus I did feel grateful to YouTube Even though you know There was no one specifically to be grateful to But just for Having that option To be able to For someone like me to be able to just make videos And try To help people From a distance It just felt like a blessing It was just like wow this is brilliant I'm more of a Viewer of YouTube now than a Than a creator Although I do Share my podcasts onto my channel As you can see from the stats
Earlier, no one hardly visits You know like 1300 Plays a month You know it's not a lot And so If I Started making videos I know that it would go up Because it always does Whenever I make a video If it's a video of me It's not because it's me It's just because it's a video People will watch videos on YouTube Rather than listen to an audio track Generally But that might change If people get you know Start to like what I do Perhaps they'll come back to YouTube But Podcasts are just much Easier aren't
they It's all there It's set up for it That's what podcasts are for It's all set up So you can listen Yeah I kind of knew what I was talking about but now It seems like it's just a bunch of words Of words Hopefully they make sentences Yeah So what is it Apple Podcasts I think after that it's Spotify Then I don't know Castbox Perhaps I should just look Let me have a look Statistics Statistics let's have a look So the last 12 months It won't be the last 12 months So the last Last month
Give you an example of last month Yeah 210,700 Downloads This was August Sources 80% was from Apple Podcasts 167,993 Downloads from Apple Podcasts 7% from Spotify 14,106 Castbox At 3% 5,512 And then all the way down Stitcher, Overcast Amazon Music was a new entry At just 1% At 2,065 So My website I had 318 downloads From my website Also Audible 711 So that was last month So I'm looking at Amazon Music 1% So this month Current month Amazon Music 1% Apple Podcasts 82% Wow I thought Because the way it's going Amazon Music is growing So
it's only just started Amazon Music hasn't just started Obviously I'm not saying that But Me being on there Is a new thing And also Audible Is a new thing as well So I'm now being listened to On Audible everyday By more and more people As well as Amazon Music So I'm looking forward to seeing that grow Because it's You know Amazon Music is 1% Compared to Apple Podcasts which is 82% At the moment on this month Spotify 5% Do you see the difference?
It's such a huge Majority The Apple Podcasts have And I know that Spotify Are They're fighting to get a bigger chunk Of the pie And guaranteed Amazon Music Will also be doing so Because There's an Their pockets Never end don't they? Amazon There's If they decided to put adverts And Like An advert on Every Time an advert played Like you know They put one of their adverts on there Every ad break Can you imagine?
I knew what I was Trying to say and I started Coughing If every Ad break Amazon Could afford to put an advert on Even if it's only You know 30 seconds If they wanted to Like in the whole western world They've just got Infinite amount of money So if they wanted to Promote Amazon Music Or if they decide to give Amazon Music Away for free For a month Let's say the month Of December You can have Amazon Music Without joining Prime But you can have it for Christmas Have it for the month of December Listen
to your podcast there Then I guess They'd gain a biggish percentage Of the market The podcast market And apparently It's still in it's experimental Phrase advertising Online Even though it's been going On for a few years But nothing compared to how long Advertising has been on Radio and television So More and more money Apparently like big Advertising companies Are putting more and more money Into podcasts Rather than Other places And it's still in it's Infancy really Because there was podcasts before There was a bit of a I've been doing podcasts For what 15 16 years
So you know I'm very aware Very well aware that podcasts have been around a long time They're not new And they went for a I don't know a period When they were popular They really did, they were popular I don't know if they're as popular As they are now, I don't know But for some reason they seem to I think they're more popular now than They were when they were really popular before And that might be due to They're easy to listen to Now You don't have to download them You can stream them And it's
easy It's easy, it takes up Such little data On your phone Plus we've got the phones Back then The phones were different Didn't have The kind of phones we've got now It's just easy When it comes to Listening to music Or streaming podcasts It's easy It's really really easy And some Contract Phone contracts In England I don't know about other countries They sometimes offer A free Subscription to Amazon Music Or To Spotify or something like that As part of the deal You don't even use up any data So for the year You get to listen
to Spotify or Amazon Music or Maybe iTunes, I don't know Whichever one, I'm not sure Maybe All of them do it And you don't use any data I mean That's perfect for someone that likes to listen to Podcasts And music, I'm one of those people I like to I probably listen to more stuff Than I watch I watch a lot less on telly Than I do listen I like to listen to the radio I like to listen to audible Books I like to listen to podcasts I like to Listen to music So I've got Spotify
So I listen I subscribe to Spotify So I listen to them But I've also subscribed to Amazon As well, in the past So Amazon Music It's, yeah I was going to say You do get partly Amazon Music With the Prime But the proper Amazon Music I think I'm coughing tonight I'm not even sure why Urgh Sometimes I just start coughing So there, I don't know Yeah that's it So I'm interested to see How it progresses Because I wonder what would happen If the podcast just all Stopped If my coughing stopped That would be nice Oh
great, I've got a cold now, brilliant So if the podcast All just stopped And It's not going to happen Streaming is here isn't it It's not going to stop now Would people go back to downloading My recordings off of my website Like in the past I guess they would They'd have to come back And Instead of streaming it Actually download it to their That's kind of a backwards step I suppose isn't it Even though I do offer that service All of my recordings Can be downloaded from my website But you can also stream them On
my website As well as on the podcasts I try and cover all angles Really try and Be as helpful as possible I just like to think this thing through I wonder what's going to happen You know in the next 16 years So when I'm Wow When I'm 67 67 67 I better have a million a day by then I'm blooming better I tell you If I'm 67 And I'm still saying 96 96 thousand Downloads a day I've just got to reach that 100 thousand It's taken me 30 years 32 years 33 years to get here
But I want to get The 100 thousand a day No I want a million I don't want another 16 years Just to get myself to 100 thousand Although 100 thousand is a good number It's a good number For Next year or the year after Not 16 years away Blimey Blimey man No Maybe I'm being greedy I just I've got to get myself excited You know A little bit of excitement about The possibilities Because It just keeps me interested That's all Judge me all you like I'm Basically the way I say it is Don't judge me
On what I do Judge me on my smell Judge me on my smell How smelly I am Don't judge me on what I do I smell lovely I'm like a I'm like a fart in the fridge That's that kind of smell You're at home in the fridge And you've got a bit of cool air And there's strawberries and there's food That smells quite nice And then a fart hits you That's kind of That's my Scent Right I'm going to go Thank you very much for listening Remember to be kind to yourself Because you deserve To
be happy Do something nice for yourself Lots of love Bye
