Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland. This is a let me bore you to sleep, please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. Hope you're well, hope you're doing groovy.
So yeah, I'm feeling actually okay at the moment. It doesn't mean that I normally feel rubbish, I'm just saying I'm feeling, I'm feeling quite well. Yes, all things considered.
So today, I mentioned this recently, I think that I now aim for 9000 downloads a day. That's my pretty much my minimum that I'm going to accept. I will not accept anything less.
So I am reaching that target of 9000, at least 9000 a day. I get above and I get the odd one colour days below, which is like 8700 or something but generally averaging 9000 which I'm pleased with because that is my target. And for the last, I don't know, it's I don't know how many how long it's been now because one thing that happened, did I tell you that the Spreaker, my podcast host, that's where all my recordings are stored and then shared via the RSS feed to iTunes podcasts, or Apple podcasts, Spotify, you know, all the different ones that are out there.
So it's hosted with Spreaker. Or they, all my different podcasts are hosted with Spreaker. Although I do also have a podcast with I forget who is this, who is it with? Wait a second.
I have a real SoundCloud. So I'm with SoundCloud. And it's soundcloud.com forward slash Jason Newland.
That's where my, I basically opened a podcast where there's no adverts. So they're all on there, although they're not all on there yet, because I'm still in the process of uploading. But there are 1107, 1107 tracks or recordings on that podcast.
I'm up to number 370 of the Let Me Put You To Sleep. So there's still a few hundred left to put onto there. And probably another couple of hundred of other ones as well.
And then it's all done. So that's probably once a week, I'll spend a few hours uploading. But I just don't have, I don't want to spend too much time on it.
Because it's no use to me. It's just, you know, it's not, it's not something I have the time to really spend on. But once it's updated, I can just add all the new stuff to it automatically.
So it'll be minimum maintenance. And it's there for people that don't want to support my this free service. So there you go.
That's that. Get rid of that. I don't like it.
I don't like that podcast. It costs me money. So yeah, I'm quite pleased with how it's going with the Spreaker, all the podcasts on there.
They sent me an email. I think I talked about this the other day. They sent me an email saying we'd like to talk to you about something about your podcasts.
I thought, hmm, what do you want to talk to me about? So I sent a message back saying, Yeah, how can I help you? And they said, Oh, well, we have a basically the the plan that I was on, which is the top plan to be on. Hence the amount of money I pay every month to be on it. How much is it? I don't even know.
So $129 a month, something like that. I don't know. Maybe it's more.
I lose track. I lose track. But they said, Oh, we got a better plan for you.
But it's still the same price. I thought, Whoa. And they said, Yeah.
Now, I knew they had a different plan that they were trying to get me on to because they don't offer the plan that I'm on anymore. And they wouldn't give me a discount because they said you can only get because I used to get a discount before I used to get 33% discount. But I haven't had that for five months.
And they said, you got to change over. But the plan they had, it was going to cost me probably because of the amount of downloads I get was going to cost me about another $400 a month added on because they were charging $3 for every thousand downloads. And they were they were allowing me to have, I think, 60,000 downloads a month, which is just a silly amount.
You know, that's not so I do that in a week. So it wouldn't financially be worth it for me to change. So I just stuck to my guns, stuck to the plan I was on.
But then they've changed the plan. They've now done it. So it's unlimited downloads, or unlimited listens, as I put it.
And I thought, Okay, fair enough. Because I can't afford to be paying $3. I know $3 for 1000 downloads, not a lot.
Now I would pay $3 to gain 1000 extra downloads in a sense of new listeners. Of course, well, yeah, $3 is nothing for that. If I could get 1000 new listeners for $3, I would, I'd give them I'd pay, you know, I'd put every bit of money I got into it, or every bit of money that I could make into that to increase the audience.
So I could help more people, hopefully. But that wasn't really what they you know, they were saying it's no, it's just whoever listens $3 for 1000 listens. So what was that with 369 126789 2021.
That's $27 a day that would cost me. Well, let's say 20 $21 a day, let's say 20 I don't know, over $20 a day extra. So what's that a month? No to $20 a day.
$600 Yeah, I guess it's a lot and it's a lot to pay out. It wouldn't be worth it. I just have to stop doing the whole thing.
It just be pointless, it would be pointless. Absolutely no point. So I would have to downgrade in a big way.
And I'm not prepared to do that. I spent too much time, too much time, too much work, invested everything in this. So yeah, I'm pleased with how it's going.
I'm just letting you know how it is going quite well, because it's, you know, I think some people may be interested in that, to know that it's becoming a little bit successful, more, more successful than what it was. So to now I'm reaching quarter of a million plus a month is okay for a little old me sitting in my living room with a little ferret over the other side of the room, snoring along like that. He does dream.
He's like that. Oh, he's behind the door. I can see him.
Well, I can't see him, but I can see his shape, the outline of him. Can't actually see his face. But yeah, um, so that's going all right.
It's going okay. Made a few changes. I have changed the images on our designs and new images on some of my podcasts.
So let me show you I can't show you, but I will talk, talk it through. The ones are changed is this one that let me boy to sleep. Now the image is completely different.
So my little worry is like, Oh, you might lose it. And you might not know where it is because you'd be looking for the, the bright yellow image with Andre on the front. Well, now it's not, it's just, it's an image of a little sleeping baby with a bright orange hat.
And then you've got the writing, Let Me Bore You To Sleep. And so I just trying to update a few things, make things a bit, just updating things, you know? I also changed the relaxation hypnosis for stress, anxiety, and panic attacks. I'll change the image for that podcast.
So it's a much better, a better image now. I spent quite a lot of time on these images might not look like it, but I did. And the relaxation hypnosis podcast, I've changed the image for that one.
I'm not sure if I like that one, but I did at the time, but they're very small. If I, if I watched it on the telly or saw it on a laptop or, you know, it'd probably be a bigger, a nicer image. Hello, Andre.
Hello, mate. He's come to have some water. Are you okay? You all right? Are you okay? And not only did I change the, this is how it all started really.
I didn't just change the image for the sleep hypnosis weekly. I changed the podcast from sleep hypnosis weekly to relax and sleep hypnosis. Daily, daily in brackets.
Oh my gosh. Have I really made this commitment? What shall I do? Yep. Relax and sleep hypnosis daily.
So there's a picture of an owl on that podcast. On the, the image. So they're, they're the only ones that I made new images for, but it's for four new images.
And I don't know, I might make some changes on some of the others as well, but I'm quite pleased. I like the let me bore you to sleep. Well, I don't know why, just a picture of a baby asleep.
It's just funny. Baby sleeping babies are just funny. And they, they're just cute and everything.
Really make it make a little bit more noise. Could you, how about actually pooing on the place where the poo is supposed to be put on? Are you just going to do a wee wee so they can make a bit more room for more water? I'm drinking, I'm drinking, but my, I can't drink anymore. I'm full.
I know what I'll do now. I personally, I'm picking him up, just picked him up now. So he's in my arms.
He's not been acting normal today. A little bit concerned about him. It's just, you know, if you spend a lot of time with anyone, whether it's a person or I don't know, a loaf of bread, whatever you get to, you get to, you get to know that loaf of bread really well and the behavior.
And this little one here who's in my arms is not himself. He's shaking a lot more than he, he's been shaking more over time. And that might just be age, you know, animals have a lot of the illnesses and diseases and all kinds of stuff that humans have.
And because he's now a middle-aged man, aren't you? I know you'd always be my little boy. You'd always be my little baby. Always.
Um, I just don't know. It just doesn't seem quite right within himself. I took him for a walk earlier and he, he seemed to just be struggling with his back legs a little bit.
He, not like in the past when he was injured, but just like, um, almost like he didn't have, he doesn't have the strength in them that he used to, which he probably doesn't actually. And he, he was just sort of half laying on a curb. So he couldn't get over the curb, which I don't believe was true.
He just wanted me to pick him up and carry him. Because he has no problem climbing onto my bed. And the bed is a lot, it's quite high up.
Considering if he stood on his own back four times, he would be the height of the bed probably. Maybe five times, you see this, but he can get up there. So getting over a curb, which was only pretty much the same height as him when he stood just normally on both, on both his four toes or whatever.
But the bed, which is high up, is the reward at the end of it, isn't it Andre? Getting to sleep in that huge bed. You love it, don't you? I think it's, I think some of it is motivation as well, because I had a chocolate mousse earlier and I just, you know, I had it and I just left the, the container on the side. And Andre, I was cuddling Andre and he was just like this, like shaking a little bit and just not looking himself, look, not licking, looking, looking himself.
Almost like, oh, I'm looking, look, feeling sorry for himself or I don't know. And then I picked the, and he just lay in there with his eyes closed. So I pick up the chocolate container of the mousse.
There's still some mousse in there, around the sides. And I just hold it, you know, a few inches away from him. He's got his eyes closed and you see his nose starts twitching.
I've never seen him move so quick. Honestly, he went from being asleep to licking that thing out, like with every bit of energy that you could possibly have had. Didn't you? Honestly, he went into full frenzy.
Chocolate mousse! I get to, you love licking things out, don't you? It does. Anything that I've had with chocolate, not, not so much into yogurts, to be fair. I think it's the, I think it's the possibility of gaining some kind of nutritional benefit.
He doesn't like that. I want chocolate! Just like your daddy, ain't you? Except unlike your daddy, you're slim and fit. He's never really had a weight problem.
You see, in his early life, he'd get a bit heavier sometimes, but I would say he's in his prime. He's at his prime weight right now. Hasn't got much in the way of a belly.
And I massage his tummy quite regularly, just to check for any bloating or any lumps or anything like that. And he's absolutely fine. Although he does tend to get a little bit of a lump come up if I spend too much time playing with his belly.
Don't you, you little perv? And I stroke him and I massage his neck, I massage his hands and his fingers and his toes and his back and I massage down his spine, don't I? And I massage your ribs and I just gently manipulate your body, just pressing gently, making sure you're all okay. And he never flinches at anything that I do, apart from when I get undressed. He flinches then, don't you? You're so rude.
You shouldn't be watching, should you? So, you know, I try and touch every part of him, um, just to check that he's okay. Uh, so, and he never like goes, ow, ow. You go in.
But he hasn't eaten his dinner. That's a bit unusual for him. So I don't know what that's about.
Unless I've just given him too much. I lose track. Sometimes when I've fed him.
And he's not like a, well, I'm not, I'm sure not all dogs are the same, but some dogs will just eat and eat and eat. If you give him food, they'll just eat it. He's not like that.
He only eats when he's hungry. So, which is quite good. I mean, I literally could leave.
I could go away for a weekend and leave three bowls of cat food out for him. Now, of course it's going to, summer is going to get dried and stuff. So it's not an ideal situation.
But if that was a dog, the dog might just eat a whole lot in one go and then spend the next two days hungry. He won't. He'll just eat what he wants and come back again later.
Now, if it's a bit dry, he won't go near it until he's hungry. And then he will. But the way I see it is when I take him out for a walk, he licks the weirdest things and he tries to eat sometimes the most disgusting things.
And the thing he wants to do most of all is break open a black bin bag and just climb inside. Now, that's not what I would call a fussy eater. Okay.
I think that's what he would do if he was in the wild. He'd be a scavenger. I don't think he'd be much in the way of hunting.
So if he did escape, he wouldn't want to escape. But if he found himself outside for some reason on his own, he'd just scavenge. He'd go through the bin bags and, you know, that's what he would do.
And he'd survive that way. But the chances are he'd get picked up by a kid. Some small child would see him pick him up or maybe an adult even and take him home, you know, because he's so cute.
He looks, he's basically, he's got a face of a little teddy bear, you know, he's got that cute face. And I'm sure all animals have got cute faces. But you know, to me, just that's what attracted me to him.
His face, just cute. Not that he was cuter when he was a little baby, but let's face it, they are, aren't they? In a way, like kittens. I'm not really a cat person.
I've only ever had a good relationship with one cat. And she just took to me, like really took to me. And she used to climb up and down on my back.
So I used to lay on the bed and face down and she'd massage my back while walking up and down. And it was just, just what I needed. I used to cuddle me and everything.
She's really, really took a shine to me, which is lovely. But that's the only cat I ever really got on with. Not that I had, I didn't have problems.
I didn't have like, you know, major enemies that were cats. You know, nothing weird like that. But it's the same with dogs, really.
I don't really, I'll get on alright with dogs, but I'm not really a dog person. I think dogs are great, but don't really have, yeah. There's been no, I've had quite a few dogs in my life, but none of them that I could, I'd miss, if you, does that make sense? None that I'd really miss once I was not around them.
So I guess I didn't really feel attached to any of them. And as I said, I've lived with one, two, three, four. I've lived with four different dogs.
And they weren't my dogs. They were just the person that, like the landlord or the friend I was sharing with or whatever. And I've gotten well with the dogs generally, but I didn't, wasn't attached.
But then I'm not really that attached to anything, generally. Apart from that little furry poo bag over there. Attached to him for some reason.
And maybe that's because, I don't know, it's hard to know why, really. I guess if you live with someone for five years, over five years, and you're with them every day for five years, you're going to have some kind of emotions toward them. It might not be nice, but it might be lovely.
And I think with him, it's generally quite nice or quite lovely, you know, depending. Although he does annoy me sometimes. But then I annoy him.
You know, it's, it's untrainable. And he does stuff and stuff that I would have just found so disgusting. Seven years ago, I thought I'd never, never be clearing up after a ferret, that's horrible.
But here I am, I'm his little servant, clearing up after him. Putting him first. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes.
But what was my point? I don't know. I had a message from somebody, I won't say their name, because it was a private message. But I will, I won't read the message either.
But I'll, I'll give the gist. And it was, it was just showing an interest in my, I suppose, past or background concerning mental health issues and stuff like that. And I said, my response was, well, I'll talk about it in my next recording.
But on reflection, I don't know if these recordings are really the best places to do that, because I do try and keep this light, you know, as possible. So there's some things I can talk about. And some things I have talked about over the years.
And in fact, I may have talked about every single thing that there is to talk about. I must have done something for 640 recordings. But I can't remember because I don't know what I've talked about.
Once it's finished, I just, I go into editing mode and uploading mode and naming mode and making a image mode and sharing mode and all that stuff and completely forgotten what I spoke about. Generally, generally, I just, I have to sort of, when I go to name the recording, I have to try and think about what did I talk about? I must have said something. Because recording has lasted 72 minutes.
I must, I surely must have discussed something. That's weird. There's that inside the wall.
There's who knows what's inside those cavity walls. But there's definitely birds. And maybe other things I don't know.
But I've never lived in a place where there was the walls are kind of empty, empty walls, where things lived, like birds and nested and whatever else is in there. I just I've never lived in a place like this that I remember. And I've lived.
I must have moved at least 50 times since I left school. So I've lived 50 different places. At least.
And I don't ever recall having a place like this before. Where there's this like, like a whole new world inside the cavities of the walls. Very unusual.
I know the birds go into the walls because I see them from outside. There's holes in the side of the walls. They definitely are in the attic.
I don't know. There might be bats up there. I don't know.
If there are then they're not allowed to be disturbed. Because for some reason, bats are important. Chickens aren't but bats are.
Go figure. I don't really understand what the the logic behind that is. You get in trouble if you disturb a bat's nest or whatever they live in.
Sleeping upside down. That's got to be weird. Don't you think? So I was trying to think, what could I do? What could I, how could I approach the subject of, I don't know, bipolar and, and, you know, the different things that I've experienced on a personal level.
And I suppose I find it easier to just come over the subject naturally. You know, if it just, if it pops up, I'll play with it. And, you know, the subject, I'll, you know, I'll just, I'll play with the subject.
I'll talk about it. And who knows where I'm going to end up, I might start talking about traveling to France for a week, and then end up talking about weeks, you know, who, who knows what's going to happen. So from that perspective, these recordings aren't always going to give a, I don't necessarily, and of course you can, you can, you know, you can disagree if you choose, but I don't necessarily know if they always offer clarity during these recordings.
Not sure if it's always necessarily 100% factual, especially when I purposely make stuff up. So it's hard to tell. The problem with lying so much is I don't even know the truth myself.
I don't really lie. I just say silly stuff sometimes. Because the only real reason I think to lie is to, is to gain something.
You know, if there's nothing to gain, there's no reason to lie. And because there's nothing that I want from anybody, I don't lie to anybody. I don't need to.
There's, there's no, there's no point. I don't need to show off to anyone, or to exaggerate, or for anyone to think anything about me. I don't answer to anybody.
So, and there's nothing that anybody's got that I want. Now, if you're there with like, you know, $100,000 in your hand, thinking, oh my goodness, I've got to give this away. I wasn't talking about money.
I mean, I'm quite happy to accept that £100,000. Thank you. Oh, I could go traveling.
I'd really like to go on holiday, to have a real, real break. Proper I don't know what, maybe on a caravan site somewhere. But somewhere nice.
Somewhere where there's a beach. And in the UK, I'm not good. I don't want to go abroad.
Just because of Andre. I want to take Andre with me. So that's something that I might try and do this year, if I'm able to.
And if the, because the lockdowns come into a gradual close over time. This week, or last week, or whatever, we were able to do more stuff and the pubs are open now. If you drink outside.
Yeah, this was last Monday. This started in shops, non-essential shops are now open. You know, places like shoe shops.
Yeah. Shoes have never been essential, have they? You try walking to work in your socks. They tell me that shoes are not essential.
I'm sure there was, during the lockdown, I don't know, one of the lockdowns, because we've had about 70 so far. There was, oh it's not funny really, but there was this shop and they blocked off non-essential stuff. So I think it was a supermarket and they blocked off anything that wasn't food.
Okay. And a man went in there and got into a big argument, filmed it on his phone with the manager, big argument, because the staff wouldn't let him go into the aisle to buy sanitary towels for his wife. Now, if ever there was an essential item, and I'll go on even further, sanitary towels should not cost anything.
They should be free to every female in the world. It should be a human right to have free sanitary equipment. And I kind of feel that way about anything like soap.
Why soap should be free? Because let's face it, without soap, this, you know, basically the human race could end up like disappearing. You know, we need soap. It's so essential.
Why do we have to pay for it? I don't know why we have to pay for it. I'm just saying, like from a humanity perspective, surely just make it available for free. And then if people, just a basic soap, free.
Now those that want, like I like, I like the creamy soap that isn't really soap. It's more like it's a mixture between soap and moisturizer, like the dove soap. I like that.
Fair enough. Pay for it. If you're going to be fussy, pay for it.
It's just like water. I mean, water isn't free because we have to pay for it, but it's practically costs very little. I mean, my water bill is about 70, roughly 78, about 80 pounds every three months.
So what is that weekly? Um, 80 pound. So was that three, six, 150, one, two, four, six. So 25.
25, 100, 20, 20, 25, 50. So yes, about 25, 26 pounds a month for water. So eight, 16, 24.
Um, five, 10, 15, 20, four, eight, 16, three, three, six, nine, 12. Three, six pound. So six pound a week.
24 pound a month for six pound a week, isn't it? Roughly. So, that's quite a lot of money really, isn't it? If you think how many bottles of water you could get for six pound. Not many, actually.
Yeah, it's not a good argument. In the garage, it's like one pound six for just a small bottle of water. But I got a pack of about 12 of them for three pound 50.
But they didn't have any packs to get. I've been buying them out there for a while, but now they ain't there. So I had to buy the individual bottles.
Oh, that was a yawn. Wasn't it a yawn? Well, obviously it was a yawn. What else would it be? It was a yawn.
So I'm kind of wondering, should I have really done and change that podcast from Sleep Hypnosis Weekly to Relaxer Sleep Hypnosis Daily? I don't know. I don't know. That's a lot to take on.
But it's okay. It will be okay. Just need to get myself organized so that I can make that recording daily.
And yeah. Technically, I could have quite a few daily ones. I've got this one.
It's pretty much daily. The Let Me Fall You To Sleep. Then there's the Deep Sleep Whisperer.
That could be daily. There's the, I can't remember what other ones there are. What other ones do I do? The, well, it's like the Sleep, Relaxer Sleep Hypnosis Daily.
So that's three. Three. Three.
Yeah, three. I could do the Bedtime Storytime Podcast. So that's four.
I do one of them every day. What else do I do? I'm sure I do other stuff. Oh yeah.
Relaxation and Stress and Pain Relief. So that's five. So that's five podcasts that I could do quite, I can say easily, but you know, as far as knowing the outlay, getting it, you know, planned and organizationally.
There's quite a lot involved in doing that many recordings every day. But hey, could be fun. Could be fun.
Could be. I don't know. I am trying to move forward with growth, you know, try to grow and become, I don't know, more professional and all that stuff.
But I also like messing around. Yeah, I like messing around. Although I'm fairly serious, or a fairly serious guy when it comes to probably most.
I fell asleep then. Oh, I did a recording earlier. It was for the Relax and Sleep Hypnosis Daily.
So yeah, I have to try and remember that one. I fell asleep and I listened back and I was just waffling. Three.
29. Even the counting was going up and down and random. And I left it in because I was so tired and so relaxed and sleepy.
Almost. I did fall asleep whilst recording. I had to edit some of it out.
I'm feeling a little bit like that now. I'm feeling a little bit sleepy. Just a little bit.
Which I'm okay with. I don't mind. If I'm sleepy, I then go and sleep.
And then my tumble rumbles. Tumble? My tumble rumbles. My tummy.
That's weird. I've just discovered that it's my dad's birthday tomorrow and I've forgotten about it. I hadn't forgotten about his birthday as such.
I know he has one every year. But I suppose, you know, in reality, I've just been busy. I just completely, it didn't, I've not been really keeping track of the days or the date.
And now I really could just drift. I quite like sometimes just sitting and allowing myself to just drift off. Just being in the moment and feel really nice.
Definitely a peacefulness inside. Inside. But seriously, now I keep, I keep, keep keeping falling asleep.
So I'm going to bring this recording to an end. Remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy. Bye, bye, bye, bye.
