Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com My name is Jason Newland and this is Let Me Bore You to Sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. I hope you're well.

I've got no messages to read out. Again, why are you not sending me any messages? Because we've done it and it's boring. We've done it and we're just going to keep sending you messages.

That's okay. And yeah, nothing, just checking. No, if it comes to it, I'm going to start reading out the spam messages that I get on email.

You've been warned. You've been warned. Wait a minute, I do have one message.

Oops, Brad. It says, now I have a... Oh, now I have a pinched nerve and infected tooth. 2020 is effed.

So, sorry to hear that. It's, I suppose it could be worse. You could have a pinched, a pinched tooth.

Because how would you get it back? If you didn't know who pinched it? I don't know. I've had pinched nerves and sometimes, sort of in my neck because of how I've slept. And it's just taken a while for it to sort of release, but it does always release in the end.

There's something about the body. I think it's quite amazing that the, I don't know what the right word is, but the general state of being normally reverts back to normal with the body. It's a sense of equilibrium, a sense of like a level of comfort that we sort of go back to.

Same as with moods and motivation and stuff. If we don't work on it, we don't sort of do anything, then we have, we will have our own personal kind of level. They've discovered this even for people who win the lottery.

Of course, you know, they'll get hugely excited and stuff, but then that level of whatever their normal general level of optimism or positivity seems to go back down to the same kind of level as what it was before they won the lottery. The body has a way of getting back to how it was, how it kind of naturally is. So, you know, if you've got an injured arm, you know, the arm heals itself and the body goes back to being kind of how it was.

Obviously not in all cases and with the aging process, it's a little bit different, but with things like a pinched nerve, it can, the body will relax and the muscles around that part of the body can relax. And if you're listening, Brad, my voice can be almost be like a little shovel, lots and lots of little shovels digging around that area, digging in, digging in and digging out that, that little, that little pinch, find the pinch, maybe a couple of little fingers that pinch in that nerve. And you can remove those little fingers so that the nerve can be unpinched.

And then you can just fill in the hole, a little trench around that area. And feel more relaxed. So, dear Jason, I don't know if digging into a part of your body with shovels is going to be relaxing.

Yeah. Okay. Fair enough.

Probably quite a good point. Possibly. I've been thinking about my chronic pain lately because of my back.

And I was waiting for a bus two days ago, and just standing up waiting for the bus, my back was hurting, my lower back. And it's starting to be a point where I'm, I've got no choice but to try and seek professional help regarding it. Because, you know, luckily, I can sit down and not be in pain.

I could lay down, not be in pain, but standing up walking. It's, you know, it's a, it's a degenerative condition. condition.

According to the last time I went to the, the back person, the back specialist, just the age thing, you know, just this. Now that I'm in the early 30s, it's starting to, you know, my body's starting to, I don't know what it's doing. I don't know.

Don't know. But next year, once the country opens up again, like normal, and we can get appointments with doctors, where they actually are in the same room as you. Then I'll do that.

I mean, I suppose. Yeah, I need to, you know, I need someone to be able to actually examine my back. And I'm no medical expert.

But an x-ray seems to be the obvious thing to check the spine and to check the muscle, the bones. I know they can't check muscle from an x-ray, but they can do. There is a thing, I don't know what it is, but it's some kind of test where they can test by the heat coming out of a particular area, whether or not there's pain there.

So if there's pain in a part of your body, it shows up as heat. And I think they were able to start to catch people out that were saying that they'd falsely, that they had whiplash after a car incident. And they could test their neck and their spine and see that everything was fine.

And there was no pain because there was no heat coming from it. But again, I don't know how reliable that is. And I don't know if it's used generally, it might be.

I remember reading about it. But it might be one of those things that was like a new discovery and hasn't actually gone into public usage at this time. I'm not sure because I used to study chronic pain, like proper as a subject, not a college, but actually, you know, in my own time, I had textbooks, and very interested in it, because that's what I wanted to specialise in with hypnosis.

In fact, that is what I specialised in when I first started. But the people seemed more interested in coming to see me personally, than in listening to my recordings. I can understand it to a degree, but the recordings, the pain relief stuff, some of it is quite good, I think.

I think it's the relaxation and sleep ones that have always, that have had the most success, or the most listens. And it's kind of been that way for a long time. So, you know, people asking me, can you do, I think I started off, I did pain relief, then I did a relaxation video back in 2006.

And someone said, can you do a sleep session, a sleep video? And I said, no, don't wanna, it can't make me, I'm doing pain relief. Don't do sleep. I didn't say that, but I kind of got a little bit, I was getting a lot, a lot of people asking me, can you do a sleep session? The relaxation session was very sleepy, fell asleep, or nearly fell asleep.

I was wondering if you could do one specifically for sleeping. And then I'd do that. And they said, I did, you know, a couple of those.

And people said, can you do a longer one? And now people say, can you do one with music? And just kind of went from there really. And I haven't had a lot of people ask me to do other stuff. You know, like smoking, and I've had a few requests for different things, but it's almost like I've become known for being the sleepy man, the sleepy man.

So yeah, I guess, I mean, I've got what, I've got a few podcasts devoted to sleeping. Couple for chronic pain, and a couple for relaxation. But it's the sleepy stuff seems to be.

In fact, it's it's probably time I did another one of those sleepy kind of hypnosis ones for this podcast, just every now and then I'm going to do one, do one. Every now and then I'm going to do a a nice, sleepy, I don't want to use the word traditional, but more like what I do the rest of the time, when I'm not waffling on about nothing. So today is the 18th, Wednesday the 18th of November 2020.

And I've made, I woke up early, like proper early this morning. And my, you know, I had half five, half five in the morning. And I wanted to watch Mike and Molly at half six.

And I was going to go back to bed. And then I thought, well, what's the point in going back to bed, because I might miss Mike and Molly, which is almost the highlight of my day, if I'm honest. So that's why I like to watch it.

And then I thought, I thought, what was that about? I thought, I know what I'll do. I'll make a recording, which I did. So I did a relaxation for stress and anxiety podcast recording.

Did that. And then I watched Mike and Molly. Mike and Molly.

Yeah. And then I I'm trying to think what happened in what order. But anyway, I uploaded the version without music, went back to bed, about eight, half seven, something like that.

And then I got up about nine, released the version with music. And then I did another recording at some point. I'm not sure when.

I did a deep sleep whisper hypnosis recording. And then I released the version without music. And then there was a with music.

I released later in the day. And now I'm doing this one. It's quite early for me, actually.

I don't normally do the let me bore you to sleep so early in the evening. It's only quarter past 9pm. So although I'm a little bit concerned, because Apple have contacted me saying that they weren't able to take the money for my storage for my iCloud storage.

So I've got two terabytes iCloud storage, which I need for my storing, you know, I've got huge amounts of stuff, huge amounts of recordings. And they said, are we going to minimize you back down to the to the free five gigabytes ones if you don't pay it? What if we can't take it? Now, I get paid tomorrow. So I'm hoping that they will not try and take any money till tomorrow.

Because then I'll be fine. It's weird. Just trying to keep track of everything that goes out that, you know, the expenses for this for running.

And it's not expensive is literally, I think. So I think it's less than three pound a month. Or maybe it's four pound a month.

For the it's, it's the maximum space that they will give just two terabytes. I don't know why they do a maximum. Well, you know, this is Apple, what surely it should go up to whatever I want it to go up to.

So if I want 10 terabytes, of course, I pay extra for it. I should be able to have as much space as I want. And eventually I will need more than two terabytes.

But that's okay. It's all right. Basically, it's all right for now.

Trying to find the email. Where is it? Oh, yeah. That would be in Google.

Update your iCloud billing information to keep your storage upgrade. Dear Jason Newland, on the 18th of the 11th 2020, we attempted to charge you for your two terabytes iCloud storage plan. But there is a problem with your payment information.

Your account will be downgraded to the free five gigabyte storage plan if we cannot successfully renew your subscription. Follow the instructions below to update your billing information. So what they saying is maybe I've got a different card or you know, the cards run out or so they can't take the money that way.

There's no update in needed. It's all correct. Just no money in there.

Which is weird because sometimes my bank will pay out money that I don't have. So in the past, I've got £1.46 in the bank. Nowhere in the world will you find someone as honest to me about stuff like this.

I should be embarrassed, shouldn't I? £1.46. So that's my available balance. And yeah, because I bought that broom yesterday. So I can do the carpet.

Those fuses that I bought, which didn't fix the Hoover cost £9.99. The first payment for the microphone was £32.60. The top up card for the EE from my phone was £5 and that was a couple of days ago. There was 12, 13, 14, 15. Okay, so then I had a delivery.

Yeah, it's just a bunch of stuff in it. Bits and bobs, bits and bobs. And I paid quite a few bills last week.

So I paid the water bill, that's £48.79. The shopping bill was £131.23 last week. But I do still have some stuff left from there. Not the basics like milk.

But I do have plenty of breakfast cereal, coffee and there's stuff in the freezer that I can unfreeze and use. So yeah, it's still got stuff left. I did have a delivery booked for tomorrow morning at 6.30. Again, it's a free slot, so they don't charge for it.

So I cancelled it because I got a payment that I've got to pay by the 22nd. And it's the 19th tomorrow. Let me just check.

It's the 22nd. I might have it wrong. 22nd.

Sign in. Okay, I got it wrong. It's the 27th, not 22nd.

Damn it. I didn't have to cancel my shopping. I genuinely thought my memory was it was a 22nd.

Unless I was wearing my glasses when I looked at the phone. Because a seven is quite similar to a two, isn't it? If you're not visually correct. Damn, 27.

Damn you. Damn. It's okay though.

So what I do have to pay out for this week if I'm right, I have to check to see if I'm right though. If I'm right, if I'm right, I'm not sure. I'm not sure if I'm right.

I might be right. You never know. Let's have a look.

So public profile. Settings. No.

Okay. Public profile. That's not what I want.

Oh, okay. Oh, here we go. Here we go.

Here we go. Plans and pricing. So I'm trying to get it up.

I can't see when the last payment went out. I have to look at my bank. So who is it? Spreaker, isn't it? Spreaker, Spreaker, Spreaker.

So I can get an idea. Spreaker, Spreaker. Well, Shopify was the 28th of October.

So it'll be around the end of the month. So that's I'm gonna pay that. I thought that was this week.

And then Spreaker. Spreaker. Yeah, that's right.

22nd. That's the one I was thinking of. See, I had 22nd in my head.

It was the wrong thing. So Spreaker is 55 pounds 70, which is $77 or $79. So that has to be paid on this 22nd, which is two days away.

Oh, okay. 22nd, 23rd. 22nd.

No. Shopify 28th. The 22nd was it Friday, 18th, 19th, Thursday.

Friday, 20th. 21, 22. It's a Sunday.

So the money will probably go out on Friday. 23, 24, 25, 26. Okay, good.

So I won't have that. I'll have to pay that out until... Amazon Prime 99 pence. Oh, I got Amazon Prime for a week for 99 pence.

It's not bad, is it? But now it's back to 7.99. But I'm actually... I haven't done this for quite some time, is I am binging on a TV show. And I'm enjoying it. If I'm honest with you.

That's kind of the point, isn't it? To enjoy it. But I've been watching... I think I'm now on season four of Fear the Walking Dead. I'm on season four.

So I've watched one, two, three, and about three into season four of Fear the Walking Dead. It's quite a few episodes, and I've been watching them all day. Not all day, but sort of, you know, I've been watching probably two, three, four episodes a day, maybe more sometimes.

And I've not really been going on to normal television at all. Apart from Channel 4 in the morning, Mike and Molly at 6.30 or 7.30 because they do a plus one. So I can watch it an hour late if I want.

And then Cheers is on for two episodes. And then if I do watch Cheers as well, I then turn it off. But because I've watched Cheers all the way through, kind of every episode, I don't really want to watch it anymore.

You know, I'd quite like to have a just maybe watch it again in a few years time, you know, when it's a bit fresh again and be, yeah, a bit new. I won't be new. But you know what I mean when you haven't seen something for some while.

So what are you going to get me for Christmas? I bet that's been on your mind for months. What should we get that weird beardy man for Christmas? That smelly ferret man, what should we get him? I don't know. I mean, should I should I put an Amazon Christmas list? I suppose I could, couldn't I? I don't know.

What do you get? What do you get a man that has nothing? Has everything? Have I got everything? Yeah. I've got everything I need, really. But Christmas isn't about buying stuff that you need.

It's about, it's nice to get presents that are fun. I think. I don't know.

I'd quite like to get some Christmas jumpers. But not high neck ones, you know, the ones that squash your neck, you have to squash your head through. Not those.

I'm talking more kind of V neck jumpers, but with Christmas, Christmasy ones, but have to be extra large for me. So if anyone wants to send me a jumper, yeah. And I'll wear it in a video.

I'll do a little video. Yeah, I will. In fact, as soon as I put a little bit of time in to figure out how to use the new mic with the phone to make videos, and to get a decent quality sound, which will take a bit of experimentation to get a, you know, a proper sound.

So once I've done that, I will, I am looking to start to make some videos and I might, I might start to, to do the video and to do the audio as well, to also record it as I am now for the audio and do the video separate, you know. That made sense to me when I first started saying it. The thing is, to do a video, I've got to at the very least brush my hair and change my top for the last time I did a video.

I'm not saying I'm wearing the same top as the last time I did a video, because I'm actually not. But there is a little bit of a, or should I tell you a little secret. I did, I did a few courses back in 2011, I think it was.

And there was the smoking course, but I did some others as well, which are lost, they're lost forever, gone. But I made videos, and I think they were like seven days. And what I did is, I recorded the videos and I took something like six or seven different tops with me.

So put on a different top each day, for each day. But I recorded them back to back. Hey, sneaky isn't it? That's letting you into the world of professional, professional.

It's because they were supposed to be daily. So I was releasing them daily. So one was like this released today.

And the second one will be released on the second day. The third one will be released on the third day. So let's let's imagine it's a Monday, I release the course and it's a seven day course.

So Monday would be the first one. Tuesday would be the second one. Wednesday would be the third one.

No, Monday would be the first one. Tuesday would be the second one. Wednesday would be the third one.

Thursday would be the fourth one. Friday would be the fifth one. Saturday would be the sixth one.

And Sunday would be the seventh one. And I didn't want each day for me to look like I'm still wearing the same clothes every single day. So I swapped.

I'll let you into a little secret though. I kept the same t shirt on underneath. I did.

No one knows. And I'd wear a jumper one day. And maybe a shirt the next day.

And you know, it kind of worked out quite well. Other from the fact that I lost the videos. I also had audio versions of them and I lost the audios as well.

One of hundreds and hundreds of recordings I've lost over the years. It'd be really weird if suddenly I had access to watch or listen to old recordings that I deleted or had been deleted or maybe I had on a laptop and the laptop broke. I couldn't get access to the stuff because I hadn't backed the things up.

You know, that's why I'm really careful that I back everything up now. So it's why I have the pay extra for the iCloud so that everything is stored on the iCloud storage. Now, if I was to start doing more videos, that storage would fill up really quickly.

Really quickly. So I don't know what would happen then. Because each videos, it could be like a gigabyte each.

And a terabyte is 1000 gigabytes. Is that right? 150 gigabytes to want to go. And then to Yeah, so I suppose technically, you could say, well, that's 2000 videos.

Yeah, but always. Yeah, it's true. Potentially, you're probably looking at much more than one gigabyte, perhaps anything up to six, seven.

And there might be a few versions of the same video, you know, going through the editing process. Still quite a lot, though, isn't it too? I don't know if I could fill it up. I don't know.

I'm not sure. I remember doing those courses, one was for anxiety. One was for driving test nerves.

And I think that one of the courses I did was for maybe nail biting or phobias or something like that. Not 100% sure. No, I'm not.

I'm not. I'm really not. There is this kind of weird or weird time because I'd go there at night.

And it was the cabin, like a porter cabin kind of thing that was behind the Buddhist center. And I used to use it sometimes for counseling. So when there was no one around, I'd use it to make recordings with their permission.

And it was kind of weird. You know, I was there on my own and having the camera set up and me sitting in a chair talking. Yeah, that's all right.

And at that time, my YouTube channel was starting to really kind of take off. So I, not really sure why, but it just, just did. So I was getting more viewers and the courses were doing quite well.

But of course, I released them one day at a time. I think the reason I ended up doing it one day at a time is because of all the effort I put into wearing different tops. I thought, no, I carried all these clothes over there.

And I was getting changed and it wasn't warm. So I was still getting changed to do this and I put all the effort into, in order to have a different, to give the impression that I was very, I don't know, not fashionable. That's not the right word.

I had more than one top. I mean, at the moment I kind of haven't, my clothes really kind of gone downhill. But did I, I don't know if I'm, well, I did mention it, but you may not have listened to that recording, but I bent over the other day and my trousers split wide open, big gaping hole.

And they were my best trousers. Because I like, when I go out, even if it's just, you know, to the shops, I like to wear trousers and shoes and I suppose just look a little bit presentable. I like to just not put in lots of effort, of course, but, but in, you know, a minimum, minimum.

Mum, I had this weird dream earlier and for some reason, yeah, for some reason, I was with a lady who I used to really like. And I was, when she first started working there, she was a waitress and I was just various different things in that place. And she, I used to ask her out and she said no.

And I, I became friends with her and I still kept asking her out and she said no. It wasn't all the time, but a few times over about a year or two, maybe a year. And then one day she said yes.

She said yes. And I was so excited. But I hid it.

And, you know, we had a lovely day out, it was a Saturday, lovely day out and everything and both went to work the same place in the evening. And at the end of the night, we sat down next to each other and she held my hand. And then someone came in the room and I pulled my hand away from hers.

And she didn't like me after that, which is a bit, I don't know, I don't know what it is, it's strange, pretty strange reaction from me, but strange reaction from her possibly. She held my hand and it was a romantic kind of way of doing it. I wouldn't normally hold hands, apart from when we crossed the road, of course.

You shouldn't cross the road on your own without holding hands with someone else, with another boy or girl. It's just normal. Unless you've got a lead on you.

I just think it wouldn't be nice to have a good old bounce, just to get on a trampoline and just bounce. Maybe that would be good for my back. Strange, but now almost daydreaming about myself inside some kind of arcade fun place where there's a big internal what's it bouncy thing.

And I sent myself to sleep. I've got no idea what I was talking about. I've got to be something.

Holding hands. Making all kinds of plans. I wonder if he's been pretty good today.

Sleeping a lot, but he hasn't been acting weird. Which is nice, obviously. Well, I'm used to him acting a bit strange, but it's not strange for him.

For example, my friend knocked on my door earlier and he came in and Andre went to try and bite his feet because he had flip flops on or something, sandals. So I picked Andre up and Andre let a stink off. A proper stink, you know, like a smell.

He does that when he's reacting. So he's probably annoyed with me because I stopped him doing what he wanted to do. I had a bit of a pong.

It wasn't like the worst smell in the entire world, but it was a pongy situation. Just to sit down or lie down and let yourself relax.
