Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com My name is in fact Jason Newland and I'm here to bore you in this boring podcast which is called Let Me Bore You to Sleep and this, my friends, is number 548 548 One more time, 548 I've done this 547 times in the past and this is the 548th time I've said welcome to Let Me Bore You to Sleep Wow!
It just shows that if you set your mind to it if you set your mind to it anything is possible if you really put the work in you can create something as pointless as this just like me 548 That's a lot I mean, wow It's even, yeah, it's a lot The podcast itself, there are a few other recordings on here such as the Bedtime Storytime but there's 10 of them so there's not a lot but altogether on this podcast, the Let Me Bore You to Sleep podcast 648 hours and 44 minutes 648 hours 648 hours
Wow divided by 24 so it's 27 full days in a row without a break that's nearly a whole month of just sitting listening 24 hours a day Wow It's 648 So if you was going to listen for, I don't know, 8 hours a day so let's say 40 hours a week so you divide that by 40 16 weeks so like a full-time job if you listen to this for the same time as a full-time job, let's say 40 hours a week it would take you 16 weeks that's a quarter of a year that's a quarter
of a year because that's 4 months 16 weeks, 4am Wow No, 4am No, wait a minute 16 weeks, 4am 16 No, it's a third of a year a third of a year No, is that right?
times by 3 yeah so pretty much a third of the year 40 hours a week so imagine going to work Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm listening to me without a break Monday to Friday for a third of the year or 4 months so if you started today it would take you up to near the end of March next year to finish and by then by the time you got to March there would be another probably about over 100 more recordings to listen to so it would be very difficult to ever keep up wow, wow, wow that's a lot, isn't it?
is it just me or is that quite a lot? I don't know, it just seems like an awful amount of awful, absolutely disgusting amount of time where I've just been sitting here talking using up my words at least if anyone says to me what have you got to show for your life I can say, let's see I've talked a lot that is a lot, that's a lot and that's just in 2 years ok no, it's more than 2 years because I started this podcast I think it was March 3 years ago it will be 3 years coming March so it's 2 and 3 quarter years or something like that yeah, that would be about right so probably 2 years and 9 months or 2 years and 8 months wow, wow oh, should we see who's winning in the stats?
I could tell, I could just really I could hear it you know when you can just hear something I could hear that everyone was shouting through the through the computer or through the phone JJ, tell us about the stats we can never get enough of the stats ok, ok, fair enough well, today so far 6309 downloads so this is the first recording I've done for the whole day so I've not made any others so it's a little bit less than than I would expect if I'd made a couple of recordings but I haven't made anything
at all so there's a little bit of a race between Hypnosis for Sleeping Deeply and Relaxation Hypnosis for Stress and Anxiety so the Relaxation Hypnosis for Stress and Anxiety 428,971 now there were 427,000 I think there's very little difference between them but Hypnosis for Sleeping Deeply has jumped ahead it's now 430,347 I don't know how it's managed to do that but it has so they were pretty much neck and neck a couple of days ago now they're not at all wow so I'm just having a look to Relaxation, has that gone down or what?
yeah, I only had I've only had 1,759 downloads from that one the Relaxation for Stress so it's quite a slow day so it really is kind of a weird race between them two but the Sleep Hypnosis Hypnosis for Sleeping Deeply it's ahead now again well it has been ahead the whole time but the other one was catching up and there was probably only a few hundred between them now it's got 9 30 about nearly 1,500 ahead still not a lot but no less than that in fact 13 1,300 ahead 1,300 ahead yes yes yes yes
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes ooh ooh ah ah ooh Andre how you doing me baby are you are you are you are you well la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la I wonder is my Bedtime Storytime getting any wow hardly any plays it's still weird I did the number 14 Jason's Bedtime Storytime Jack and the Beanstalk on the 18th of November so 2 days ago yes it's Friday 20th two days ago and I had six downloads
on that podcast six you'd think well what's the point in making any more if you're only getting six well on the hypnosis is sleeping deeply podcast I've had 299 downloads for that that episode and for the sleep insomnia hypnosis podcast I've had 226 downloads and on the let me boy to sleep podcast I've had 144 downloads so two three four five six I don't know how many that bits 14 and then everywhere else comes to about five to six hundred isn't it strange Wow Let Me Bore You To Sleep I had a really good day
the other day on Thursday 456 downloads and that's when I did the no Wednesday the 18th how strange still can't figure all out I tried to you I try I really really really do but then just doesn't you know you know I mean hmm I want to say thank you I want to but I'm not going to no I do I want to say thank you to let me go into it I want to say thank you to Elizabeth thank you for your PayPal gift and hope this helps for your podcasts pod card costs podcast
podcast costs thank you for everything you do and thank you Elizabeth I'm going to send you a message right now thank you very much for your your have a great weekend PayPal gift have great weekend lots of love Jason okay cool I sent that off thank you Elizabeth it's very kind of you so if anyone wants to send a PayPal gift you're welcome you well isn't that generous of me I'm very generous like that you're welcome to send me money it's all it is now is it I don't know if you just go to my
website the links on there in the menu PayPal something is it is it my PayPal no your PayPal my PayPal that's gonna bug me now I know what it is I've not read it out for so long I've forgotten I forgot it all about it there we go oh okay PayPal dot me forward slash Jason Newland so but if you go to my website there's a link on there there really is I've got someone hassling me on Facebook I wish they just they keep sending the same message to me over and over again and I
can't get rid of them I'll try to block them try to get rid of them but this won't go away it's annoying just you know just when I think that I'm free from them they just like pop up again it's annoying so yeah no other messages you can send messages I don't mind reading them out I don't it's I will read them out if I get some unless you send me a message and say do not read this bloody thing out then I won't probably unless it's a rude message then I probably will by rude
I don't mean well that's a weird noise I don't mean rude as in nasty that's what I mean nice well nasty could be okay couldn't it as well but you know I mean and horrible someone's saying something horrible I would like to share that stuff I don't get much of it but when I do I share it and when I get nice stuff I like to share it it's nice to do both it's nice to do both I think so it's Friday I spent quite a lot of time in bed today but I needed to
I'm glad I did so there you go I'm not ain't got an issue with it at all and I've been listening to Earl Nightingale it's on audio an audio book and he is my favorite speaker motivational wherever you want to call it Earl Nightingale is there's something about him it's just something about his voice is something about how he talks is very clarity he's not jumping up and down kind of person he's just telling it just you know he's just talking and he's it's great and he says the things that I guess I need to
hear from a motivational perspective from a getting on with it perspective fighting the old procrastination and it's not gonna be for everyone because not everyone wants to listen to stuff like that but I do and he's I mean he's long gone you know he's well I don't know I think he's I assume he's dead because what did I say his name was night nightingale he's someone that I would love to have met yeah he died in 1989 and so born in 21 30 40 50 60 70 80 so he was what 60 68 he's only
young blimey right 21 30 40 50 60 70 80 91 so he was 68 years old that's young Wow I just love him I love love love love him he's amazing I came over him from there's a YouTube video called strangest secret and it was he was saying oh it's actually a book as well which I've got here and it's I might read some of it shall I do that I'll be a nice little change yeah he some of the things that he says really resonates with me I mean proper proper resonates with me in
as deep a level as when I was sort of first getting into Buddhism when I was reading a book I've still got here actually it's the Buddhist teachings and when I was reading Zen books and you know other like Thich Nhat Hanh and Pima Chodri's a premature I was reading the books and they were having like a profound effect on me they're almost dipping into my inner inner being I don't know the best way to describe it touches me and he does he touches me I'm not even joking I know it sounds weird but I
mean it really he does he did he did but was he too late to take control now no he's really amazing and he's got it's got the voice as well a really good voice but I've listened to a lot of his stuff and if you ever heard of Nightingale and Conad or Conan Conard something like that he that was the company that he and his partner Conad sort of did the strangest I was a radio presenter or something I think biography in a career so yeah it's something that he said and something that jumped out
at me jumped out at him I didn't realize I just read this it's six words that jumped out at him when he read the Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and the same thing happened to me and also having listened to the audio which Napoleon Hill talks as well on it the book is the same words affected Napoleon Hill when Earl Nightingale when he read that book and he went from there he wanted to start teaching it and the words were we become what we think about and that really resonated in really there is
no I'm not saying the full word is because I can't really he really resonated with me but yeah he got together with so he made some albums the thing is Napoleon Hill didn't I'm no offense to him you know he's great great person he spent 20 years of his life interviewing successful people in order to write a book and he spoke to all the most successful people I guess in America I don't know if he traveled further than that but he then his book Think and Grow Rich it was like a huge bestseller still is
actually still sold but then he didn't have the voice that Earl Nightingale had.
Earl Nightingale had a deep serious voice like you'd listen to it and Napoleon Hill was a little bit different he's very much higher pitched and I don't know I've listened to both I like I prefer to listen to Napoleon Hill read his own book than pretty much anyone else read it because it's his book I like to read that but I'd like to hear the person that's written it tell the story with their words anyway Nightingale Conant a Sir Lloyd Conant I don't know that's weird so I don't know if who the Conant is Lloyd
Conant why has no one made a wiki page about me yet I'm a person what's that Lloyd Conant Wow wonder why he's not listed anywhere so it's Lloyd Conant I'll try Lloyd Conant man no that's different the power of passive income make your money work for you founded by Earl Nightingale and Lloyd Conant in 1960 the company features thought leaders in the areas of blah blah so basically the yeah so Nightingale and Conant they I used to listen to a lot of their audiobooks and they also they've produced published loads of books some of the
biggest self-help motivational self-development books and audiobooks are being produced by them I wonder why why why why wonder why why why why why why he went away disabled by the Scottish Scorching Fear yeah I think I mean you know you don't varieties of skepticism James come on money well no it's not in there I don't know why oh no it's not on that one but he's really good and what I could do is when we read you some of the stuff that he talks about so you can get an idea about the stuff that I'm
into right I'm not gonna put you on hold so you can listen to me in the background trying to avoid standing on a one of Andre's squeaky toys I'm not sure if it's possible but I am gonna give it a go okay oh well that was successful that's good I better put my glasses I don't know if I mentioned I've got an eye test in December so it'll be good to be good to be able to see stuff again so this is called the strange the strangest secret by the old nightingale it's not a very
big book at all in fact 42 pages so you know not not the biggest thing Wow text of audio version text of video version so basically there's just two different versions of the text Wow I thought it was actually a book like a separate book so I've not read it I've listened to the audio loads of times okay so just reading through it it starts off I'd like to tell you about the strangest secret in the world the late Nobel Prize-winning dr.
Albert Schweitzer was once asked doctor what is wrong with men today the great doctor was silent a moment and then he said men simply do not think it's about this that I want to talk with you okay so I think this was like 1960s or 1950s I don't know it's not doesn't seem to have those details for some reason if anything I think this is like a really cheap version it says copyright 2013 merchant books ISBN 978-1-60386-557-9 digitalized by watchmaker publishing's all right reserved so I think if the author's dead you should be able to
just do your mother not plagiarize it you know if it's not your own stuff say who's it is but I'm gonna mention a few little bits out of it but I'm not gonna read it verbatim I'm gonna read some of the stuff that he's highlighted so here we go success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal so it's not about money it's about success is the progressive I was rereading it here the progressive realization of a worthy ideal and then he says the opposite Erdemite this is quite dated for some people because it's such
a long time ago and when this was written when this is written yeah America would have been a very different place for women to live and for people of various different shades of skin so yeah it was a very different place back then I've heard that's what I've been told that's what I hear on the TV I've not I've never been to America so I don't know but he's it's almost an assumption that the woman would be at home looking after the kids and not going out to work when of course that's not that's not
our society anymore is it we do share yeah the Western world does share quite a lot of mind you Turkey I mean Turkey's in Europe is Middle East it's kind of I get confused by that that's just me how can you not celebrate Christmas you're Turkey well that's Christmas is about Turkey so here's the best differences is there if someone is working towards a predetermined goal and knows where they are going that person is a success so if they know what the goal is and they know that where they going the person is a success
if they are not doing that then they are not so you know if you set yourself a goal and you continue to work towards that goal then that's success and the progressive realization so it's not it's not just about accomplishing it it's moving towards the accomplishment so success for a marathon runner is not winning the marathon it's not even completing the marathon success is not even entering the marathon it's deciding you want to partake a marathon participate or do a marathon and every step you make towards that is success I quite like that I really
do yeah see Rolo May says in man's search for himself I've got that book the opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice is conformity so yeah so again it's it's a it was different times back then so I don't know you know there is it says right now in America there are over 40 million people 65 years of age and older that's a lot isn't it I don't know if that's still the case when this book was written they're probably a lot less people in America so what other things why we conform the
trouble is most of us are acting like the wrong percentage group the 95 percent who did not succeed why do people conform I like this bit well they really don't know most people seem to believe their lives are shaped by circumstances by things that happen to them by exterior forces they are outer directed people so the the only person who succeed is the person who is progressively realizing a worthy ideal it's a person who says I am going to become this and then begins to work towards that goal so again it's not about money it's
not about it doesn't have to you know someone who's lost the use of their legs and decides they're gonna find a way to walk again or maybe using learn how to use prosthetic legs and so like that kind of big huge journey which they don't have to undertake but decide to know from the second that they decide to undertake that then they're already a success in that sense doesn't mean they're a failure before that that's sometimes what people get wrong with these kind of self-help self-development stuff if I sell insult selling someone what success is
doesn't mean that they've been a failure their whole life because they haven't done that because that's just not something that no one would say to someone is it you know I read things and I think oh I'm not I've not done that yet so that means it means the last 50 years this has been failure no I do like the idea is I mean basically what do people conform most people would seem to believe their lives shaped by circumstances things happen to them by exterior forces there's very much the the victim mentality in that like
everything's happened to me why me why me why not you why it's horrible but why everybody has to go through stuff and I matter how horrible it is it's just that's unfortunate it's life in it it's weird stuff but the whole people are normally that I've noticed like why me why me and victims aren't people that have gone through at the time they're not going through really bad stuff it's almost that they've given up so every little thing just adds to it so you know there we go to shop and it's not open or they
miss the bus and it's it's like they've the worst thing in the world's just happened and it hasn't just missed the bus that's it there's like almost the whole the wound has been just ripped open again but then then he goes in says again bear in mind this is old but it says I'll tell you who the successful people are oh here we go is he gonna be naughty and say something wrong bearing in mind this is like 50 70 years ago probably this if not longer a success is the schoolteacher who's teaching school because
that's he or she wants to do a success is the woman who is a wife and mother because she wanted to become a wife and mother and is doing a good job of it hey that could wind some people up but he's not saying that women are supposed to be at home he's saying that if you choose to do that then you're a success if you're doing it a success is the man who runs the corner gas station because that was his dream a success is the entrepreneur who starts their own company because that was
their dream that's what they wanted to do and finally a success is the successful salesperson who wants to become a top-notch salesperson and grow and build within his or her organization and sets forth on the pursuit of that goal so a success is anyone who is pursuing deliberately a predetermined goal because that's what he or she decided to do deliberately but only one out of 20 does that he does use the word failures in this I'm not using it but the people who don't do that are failures according to this book you know it's it's
okay to fail everyone fails it's you know it's can you imagine if everything went right right from the beginning you know like from the very first time you went to stand up and you stood up you know when you were baby that was it you stood up once and then you went to just you try to walk and you walked and everything went right first time no party training needed everything well you know you you went to write something down and you could just spell and write perfectly that would be one annoying kid wouldn't it
what a know-it-all I've met a few know-it-alls over the years they're annoying they are know-it-alls I'd say the biggest know-it-alls that I find that I've met is people that think that they're geniuses you know they've gone and had an IQ test and they're clever you know that yes can't doubt that they're clever clever people somehow yeah they've had an IQ test and for some reason they feel that they are above the general population I am a genius I'm more intelligent than everybody else around me I'm above them I can run rings around you intellectually and
I don't know they're annoying that's what I'm saying really there's no point to what I'm saying now just this yeah that's why when I found out I was a genius I kept it a secret I didn't want anyone to know I didn't want anyone to think that I was looking down on them and you know what in 50 years not one person's guessed so I'm doing something right a very good actor wonder how many people actually take me seriously when I do these recordings see this is something that I like I remember reading about this
and thinking about this 20 odd years ago have you ever wondered why so many people work so hard the way man okay okay have you ever noticed that person who becomes successful tends to continue to become more successful that's the question and the reasons goals some of us have goals some don't people with goals succeed because they know where they are going it's that simple for people who believe that their lives are shaped by circumstances by things that happen to them by exterior forces are less likely to set goals if it's meant to be it's
meant to be that kind of mentality if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen if I'm gonna meet the woman we dreamed I'm gonna meet her anyway what by not going out ever and just making recordings for the Internet and never leave me house other than to put me rubbish out really how am I gonna meet anyone huh if it's meant to be it's meant to be everything happens for a reason yeah okay everything happens when I hear I don't hear that anymore either you know it's not as prevalent as it was a couple of years
ago and the regurgitation just it wore off it was everywhere like every film maybe everything everyone was to say everything happened and I did I'd hear a grown man say or a woman or and it's almost like they turned into a little baby like a little child a tiny little toddler everything happens for a reason I'm going to grow wings and fly my caterpillar loves me one day I'm going to be a unicorn and I'm going to have sword fights with the devil weird things but yeah everything happens for a reason you know they bang
into you and say sorry my bad everything I mean can you imagine people love say I don't know if they still love saying it but imagine if that was the that was a doctor's excuse for everything doctor how how did this happen I can't have this treatment I can't I don't understand how it's how it's happened everything happens for a reason just come back on the date for the treatment but just remember everything happens for a reason so I don't have to come for the treatment then do I if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen
whatever's gonna happen it's gonna happen no so here's another one that says think of a ship leaving a harbor think of it with the complete voyage mapped out and planned the captain the captain and crew know exactly where the ship is going and how long it would take it has a definite goal and 9999 times out of 10,000 it will get to where it started out to get to well I like to think 10,000 times out of 10,000 times but you know it's basically it's gonna get there now let's take another ship just like the
first only let's not put a crew on it or a captain at the helm let's give it no aiming point no goal and no destination we just start the engine and let it go I think you'll agree with me that if it gets out of the harbor at all it will either sink or wind up on some deserted beach a derelict it can't go anyplace because it has no destination and no guidance it's the same with a human being so I like yeah it's it's the whole thing is if you're playing darts you could be
the best darts player in the world but if you don't aim you might as well be the worst darts player in the world have to aim you have to focus have to aim for the number which is what darts is isn't it aiming for those doubles and trebles and the different numbers on the board if they just chuck the dart they might get some numbers but it won't be the ones they want necessarily if they really really got the muscle memory then they might keep getting a treble 20 or a bullseye but they won't need
a treble 20 or a bullseye all the time of course treble 20 you know three treble 20s is great but it comes a time when you need maybe a 19 you know like a double eight or and something else to make 19 we need only okay here's one so a man is what he thinks about all day long a man or woman is what he thinks about all day long so it's about devotion it's about being almost obsessed with what you're doing now I realize that that's not something that everybody can do you know some
people families mortgages you know just you know the whole thing they might not have or want to put the energy into something that will give them anything more than just pleasure and what they're doing personally I think that's fine you know I don't if someone is enjoying themselves and what they're doing doesn't harm anyone else I was gonna say all themselves but that's kind of their their issue isn't it they're doing something that they enjoy even if it isn't of any use to anybody else you know like train spotting or stamp collecting or gardening or
something that they love and is really good for their mental health and physical health as well gardening apparently I don't find it to be the case myself but gardening supposed to be really good fishing apparently and things like that so yeah not sure where I was going with that so he says this is someone else Benjamin Disraeli said everything comes if a man will only wait I brought myself by long meditation to the conviction that a human being with a settled purpose must accomplish it and nothing can resist a will which will stake even existence
upon its fulfillment Ralph Waldo Emerson said a man is what he thinks about all day long William James said the greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind which is true and he said we need only in cold blood act as if the thing in question were real and it will become infallibly real by growing into such a connection with our life that it will become real it will become so knit with habit and emotion that our interests in it will be those which characterize
belief so so he said if you can only care enough for a result you will almost certainly obtain it if you wish to be rich you will be rich if you wish to be learned you will be learned if you wish to be good you will be good only you must then really wish these things and wish them exclusively or not wish at the same time a hundred other incompatible things just as strongly so basically choose something you want focus on it focus on that thing and work on that thing so this is to do
with I suppose the law of attraction and stuff is kind of where it came from but you think the great the great law briefly simply states if you think in negative terms you'll get negative results if you think in positive terms you will get you will achieve positive results that's simple fact is the basis of an astonishing law of prosperity and success in three words believe and succeed so there's lots of different that would become what we think about is it's so true though that's the thing it's it's almost this is a part of me
what sometimes read stuff like this and thinks it's old-fashioned he's talking about William James for God's sake that's just like a psychologist from a hundred years ago this it's not even yes let's focus on someone that's at least this century but it's amazing honestly I'm not I can't read any more of it because kind of out of time but let's use any other sentences will become what we think about it stands to reason that a person who is thinking about a concrete and worthwhile goal is going to reach it because that's what he's thinking about
and we become what we think about conversely the person who has no goal who doesn't know where they are going and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion anxiety fear and worry become what they think about their life becomes one of frustration fear anxiety and worry and if we think about nothing we become nothing so how does it work why do we become what we think about well I'll tell you how it works as far as we know this is the book to do this I want to talk about a situation that parallels the
human mind as ye so shall ye reap the human mind is like a farmer's land suppose a farmer has some land and it is good fertile land the land gives the farmer a choice he may plant in that land whatever he chooses the land doesn't care what is planted it's up to the farmer to make the decision remember we are comparing a human mind to the farmer's land because the human mind like the land doesn't care what you plant in it it will return what you plant it doesn't care what you plant let's say that
the farmer has two seeds in his hand one a seed of corn the other of nightshade a deadly poison he digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds one corn the other nightshade he covers up the holes waters and takes care of the land what will happen invariably the land will return what is planted as it is written as you grow so shall you reap remember the land doesn't care it will return poison in as such a wonderful abundance as it will corn so up comes the two plants one corn one
poison the human mind is far more fertile far more incredible and mysterious than the farmland but it works the same way it does not care what we plant success or failure a concrete worthwhile goal or confusion miss us misunderstanding fear anxiety and so on but what we plant it must return to us the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth it contains riches beyond our wildest dreams it will return anything we want to plant so there you go so what is it that you want plant your goal in your mind it's the
most important decision you'll ever make in your entire life what is it that you want all you have to do is plant that seed in your mind care for it work steadily towards your goal and it will become a reality it's not only that will there's no way that it cannot you see that's a law like the law of Sir Isaac Newton the laws of gravity if you get on top of a building jump off you'll always go down you'll never go up and the same with all the other laws of nature they are inflexible
they always work see and good thing with this is the idea is you write it down I've not I have goals I'm not written them down yet I will do but at the same time I do think about them every day one of my goals is this is from the strangest secret the book I would lend it to you but I'm not going to why it's it's really cheap it's like five pound on Amazon or something this and you can you can listen to it on YouTube and listen to him on video our nightingale oh
yeah having for me I suppose for things to turn around to increase to grow for funny everything grew if you wanted it to I my target is I've had targets of the the amount of people that listen to my recordings to grow and it is my target now is 10,000 something closer and closer to it but it's in two bits I wanted to be to get to the point where I'm averaging 8,000 a day and then starting to reach up to the 10,000 I'd like to I'd like to finish the year on as close to
10,000 a day as possible so that's kind of my goal on there but there's lots of different little goals that I've kind of aiming for there's some other goals I won't talk about but it's yeah but I've not written down the goals yet which I will because now things are starting to come together quite nicely in some ways and the main thing is that I don't self-sabotage myself as opposed to self-sabotage and other people so yeah it should be good I said be interesting if nothing else mildly interesting strange 16 yeah that's the end of
this recording so thank you for listening remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy lots of love bye
