Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland and this is Let Me Bore You to Sleep. And please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. And today is Sunday the 4th of October 2020.
I had quite a pleasant evening. I sat up here with my friend and we watched boxing from half seven. Half seven? Well I started watching at half seven but just yeah till about half ten, eleven, something like that.
It was nice, very relaxing. Not for the boxers but for me. Awfully relaxing don't you know.
Yeah it's nice. I mean quite weird for a Sunday evening admittedly because usually boxing's on a Saturday not a Sunday. Being on a Sunday it was weird and I genuinely started to think that it was Saturday but then I realised it wasn't.
It was a Sunday. Because I can't actually remember the last time that I watched boxing on television on a Sunday. I'm not saying it's never happened because it may well have happened but I can't remember.
Occasionally, okay sometimes boxing will be on early hours of the morning, Sunday early hours so you know I might be, the boxing might not start till three o'clock in the morning on a Sunday. But for me it's still Saturday you know personally. If I'm still awake it's still the same day as what it was when I've or before I got up but it has you know just makes sense to me.
I know what I mean. I'm trying to think what else has changed. Has anything changed? Not really.
I've made the website very easy for me to maintain because there is nothing for me to do. It just updates itself which is cool so that's quite nice and yeah I mean there's always things I can do to add you know to make changes to add a new page or stuff like that and I probably will because I do like tinkering with websites. I like to sometimes I just like to do things that aren't necessary.
I'm trying to avoid doing that stuff a bit more trying to maybe be a bit more focused but I have reduced the time that I spend now. I'm doing the old whistling thing tonight.
Andre's been so again again I don't know sometimes I don't know if it's I notice it or sometimes I don't notice it and it's still happening when I whistle but you know what take me for what I am it's how it's how I speak it's not the microphone it can't be it's me and I'd like I suppose natural isn't it to want to maybe to be a little different to what we are maybe to sound different or to be taller or to be slimmer or to be who knows I was gonna say to be hairier
but I'm not sure if anyone ever wishes for that you know I wish my nose was bigger no I can't suppose I mean I couldn't have a bigger nose if I tried but uh as it is I can't turn around about knocking people knocking pedestrians over uh it's I just no one would ever wish to be fatter would they I don't it's weird because I don't call people fat I only call myself fat it's not it's not a term I really use towards other people but I like making fun of myself it just entertains me
and I think in a way it's funnier because I used to be so damn skinny I really did genuinely see anyone listening to this so you're not going to know that you know you're not really I could be just lying but anyone listening that knew me in my early days in my early 20s would would vouch for me and say yeah he used to be skinny but I ain't no more and what's weird about it it's really weird I was watching boxing and these heavyweight yeah heavyweight boxer a big strong man weighed less than me
I'm like nearly a stone heavier than him and he's this monster of a man heavyweight boxer I was like I don't even make sense because guaranteed if he was standing in a room he'd look huge and I don't I just I'm quite little really so I don't know I don't know where the weight is where it's I don't know if it's like stored in my feet or something maybe it's just stored in the big bits I want to say that I genuinely do not mean the groin me bum I just feel I might have a
yeah I just remembered I do have a big bum it's hard to tell because I can't see it me bum that is or anything else really but as you say you know if you've got a big bum you can't see in there if you can't see it in a mirror which you can't can you unless you've got a bunch of mirrors all kind of sorted out so you can do it you can line a bunch of mirrors up and it's no good with trousers I really need to take your trousers off in order to get
more of a sense of the size of your bum because I wear black trousers and they kind of it's quite hard to see you know to get more of a definition so I take the trousers off line the mirrors up and then I can see that's the last time I did it it's a while back but then I could see kind of what my bum looks like from behind and I'm not allowed back in that supermarket so I would say supermarket was the it was what was it Marks and Spencers it's like a supermarket but
they also sell clothes and I don't know if you have that in your country wherever you live what was I going to say oh and yeah there's a test isn't it if you if you sit down and your head touches the ceiling yes you're standing up and you can't touch the ceiling when your hands stretched out but if you sit down and you can touch the ceiling that's a clue that your bum's a big bum bum bum and it doesn't matter yeah I'm really into the idea of loving ourselves or you know or at least
self-acceptance in a way of but also not in a not in a not in a sense of you must accept yourself and therefore you're not allowed to make any changes your body is your body and it must stay the same I don't mean like that but I do wonder how different things would be if we were all able to just accept what we are because I hear people see you know it's it's very public and you know people who feel they're they're not who they are how many people do feel they are what they are
I don't feel that I should be I don't think I should look like this I feel I should be taller with a nice little pointy nose little little uh not piglet but like a little fairy nose and little ears and other things other other differences but I wasn't I'm not you know what I find strange though just I'm just talking about myself here I'm not I'm not sort of talking about other people just talking about me my favorite my favorite subject and there was a time I think when I was in my yeah definitely in
my teens most of the time women or girls you know back then I was looking for a girlfriend who was a girl although I did like women but I was I was a boy so I was I wanted to date a girl um as opposed to an adult woman because I was still a kid does that make that make sense I was attracted to adult women since I was a kid but I didn't have anything to talk about I still don't but mentally I was very uh I say immature but you know I was little
I was young and I reckon even at the age of 21 I was very very immature I was still a child mentally and I know that some women will say all men are still children mentally and which isn't I think it's unfair it's I think it's unfair just to it's not very it's not very nice is it really to say that or to say that about women either you know but I don't care people can say what they want makes no difference to me but I really was I mean I was immature still when I
was in my 20s I think I started to grow up a little bit when I was hitting my 30s you know just before yeah I started to evolve a little bit a little bit I need to change this microphone stick or microphone holder because it's now wobbly and I don't know why it really I really I really don't know why but that's not important is it so what was I going to do I my friend cooked yesterday using an air fryer and you know what the chips were okay actually I mean they were I think
it's fair to say very un-greasy yeah there was no grease because there was no oil although I don't know if it's oil there's a bit of oil in there and it blows it around I don't know anyway it's not really relevant to various things what was I going to say oh yeah immaturity my immaturity I think I started becoming a little bit more mature when I hit late 20s I think part of that was because I had a lot more contact with people in general had a lot more contact with humans a lot more contact
with women I was dating quite a bit back then the last three years of my 20s yeah so 98 99 2000 was pretty much my dating years my most interesting dating years I guess less interesting they would that they should have been because I was still living in a tiny little room when if I'd have had my own place my own flat like I have now I would well I'd have had more fun I'd have had more of a social life with the girlfriends and I suppose likely ended up living with one of them it's
very likely you know because I could have had a proper relationship I had a few women not want to date me because I didn't have my own place some didn't want to date me because I didn't have a car I couldn't drive and it's weird because not one woman ever dumped me because of farting I thought that would have been you still get a message I can't believe you talk about farting I'm trying to sleep here you talk about farting yeah I'm sorry you know what I know it might sound strange if I'm honest with
you I forget that this is a sleep session I do that's bad isn't it genuinely I genuinely I'm just talking about my life and I forget that this is supposed to be a sleep session and I genuinely try to you know not swear and try to keep the topics mildly tasteful you know I'm not out to shock and you know but sometimes I think I do I just forget and I feel like I'm talking to a friend that's how I feel and I would say that that's how it would come across I genuinely feel like
you're here in the room and we're talking except it's much better than that because I get to do all the talking I don't have to listen which is ideal for me because I'm very selfish although in reality I'm not as bad as that I can listen I'm going to blow up I trained as a counsellor three years full-time I trained and I worked as a counsellor so I know what I'm saying is basically I know well I'm very very good actually I'm very very good at pretending to listen I'm an expert so that's the secret
isn't it finding someone you're interested in and what I wonder what I wonder is what you know people that see each other a lot you know people that live together in a long you know they're in a relationship or whatever you know romantic married or live in together how does that work how how how does it work I've never done it I genuinely have never done it and I remember 1998 I was at a party after work and one of my friends who I worked with sat me down and he said you know what Jay
he didn't talk like that he was a smooth Jason you know you really should give it a go you should you don't know what you're missing it's something absolutely wonderful splittingly wonderful about living with another person living with a woman is the most amazing experience of your life for a short time but I said he didn't he didn't say for a short time I think he was loved up at the time as well so he was quite pro but he said he'd lived with people before and he said unless you've done it you don't know
how amazing it is and I thought about it I looked at him I said I said okay let's give it a go he said no not with me I said oh sorry and uh and I thought about it the thing is I think the problem I had at the time apart from being incredibly immature and selfish apart from that which is you know definitely can hinder romance and stuff part yeah I think it was because I lived in a little room so it's not even like I could have lived with her in that room couldn't
live with another person there was no room for it wasn't big enough for one person really and living in London as I did at the time was very expensive I mean it's way more expensive now but it was expensive then it's you know living in London's pretty much it's been one of the most expensive places to live around the country really it's just more because the city is the biggest city in the country I'll tell you what I thought I genuinely thought that other cities would be like London that's what I thought Liverpool uh what's
other cities um Minchester um Leeds Luton you know it's Bolton is that a city I don't know but you know there's lots of cities around the country I thought that cities would be like London in a sense of size well I went through Manchester and I've been through uh what's it called I've been through Leeds and I've also been through Liverpool went through Liverpool on the way to yeah I was going from Liverpool so I've been from Blackpool then to Liverpool and then we got a ferry over to the Isle of Man from Liverpool because
you also get a ferry to Ireland from Liverpool yeah anyway I was surprised at how little they were in the sense of the towns they're big towns but they're towns in the sense of they're nothing like just nothing like London but I think that's part of the the southern I think that's the southern part of me it's like oh you know everything's about London it's not I know it's not but I used to live in Newcastle which is a city as well I think but these were just a lot of them were a lot of
cities used to be towns and they were turned into cities they were allowed city status and they were allowed to be and they're still big I mean it's still hundreds of thousands of people living there but London there's anywhere up to like 10 million people living in London and I think there's 67 million people no one knows the right the exact amount but you know about 67 million people in the whole of England in fact that might even include the UK that might be include Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland as well I don't know
generally not sure I'm generally not sure but I think it's maybe it's Britain 67 million people in Britain or the UK or England one of them so for 10 million people to be in just one city and London isn't big so when I say big it's not big size wise but it's big as in the amount of people and the amount of structures the amount of shops the amount of like the whole West End it's big big big big it's big business and I went through Manchester on a tram and it's not little it's not
you know it's not like a little high street in a town like a little town but it's so it's bigger than let's say Ipswich.
Ipswich is quite a big town and I think there's I think 150,000 people if not maybe more in Ipswich so I guess Manchester it's probably got a million plus people it's got to do it's a much bigger area than London I'm making all this up but I'm pretty sure it's true so things are spread out so it's a big area as it were I mean you know it's got two football teams well at least two football teams Manchester City and Manchester United and Liverpool another that's got two football teams Liverpool and and not Leeds oh
god I do know what it is give me two seconds uh Liverpool uh and and anyway they're rivals for some reason it's the same it's the same area it's it's almost as ridiculous as schools being rivals you know and they're like 10 minute walk from each other oh but you go to that school you're our enemy yeah okay let's get tribal shall we what is it Liverpool Unites Liverpool City Liverpool for Liverpool City Everton that's it Everton Everton football ground for Everton Everton United or something and it's weird because they have huge football teams I
mean those four football teams I mentioned Liverpool Everton Man United Man City huge for the biggest football teams in the world not just the country but in the world richest for the richest football teams a lot of that has to do with billionaires coming over and uh investing their drug money I'm sure that's not true investing the money they made from helping lots of people no doubt so it's uh I don't know is it a tax write-off is it is it is it I don't know not quite sure how it works I've never tried to
buy a football team nor would I yeah not just because I'm not really that interested in football so it wouldn't be something of any use to me but if I was I definitely well I must say I would because I can't at the moment a little bit uh don't quite have the the readies right now to invest in a football team a football club but I think I'd uh oh that was a bit of a squeaky thing I made I'd invest in a gym a football a boxing club yeah but I'd do things differently because
I don't know if I mentioned I went to a famous boxing club again worldwide I don't know about worldwide you English okay boxing famous does that make sense the people that are into boxing will have heard of this boxing club it's very famous produced many huge you know stars world champions and stuff over like 60 70 years or whatever it's been going now I went there when I was 20 asking if I could train I mean really I just figured they'd take my money and I could train it's a club you know that's how it
works for most places a gym or karate club you go along and they make you welcome not this place uh you're too old I was 20 no you're too old now what I wanted to say is I was sorry so you just like spending time with little children then do you that's what wanted to say but you know I wanted to leave the building intact so I did but I was like what's wrong with what's wrong with the what's wrong with him very very strange thinking so you know I don't want you because you're over
the age of 10 well I don't know that's it that's there's a category of people like that isn't it you know there's a name for that anyway there's a name I didn't say the name I just said there's have I got any messages to read out I don't think we have no no messages nothing molly sent me a nice little like a nice little um uh animation so thanks molly I sent you one back but I do the one that the pink one is you by the way and the gray one is me um boston
oh boston hi boston chicky he said good morning I was asleep when I replied to that I looked at my phone I said hi because you said good morning that was what 11 53 and I was was this yesterday I think it was yesterday I don't know but I was I think I got up and went to the toilet and then I just replied and then I washed my hands so basically I just I was half asleep sometimes I'll tell you what happens sometimes I'll read something on my phone like a message or it might
even be like a news item or something and then I'll go back to sleep and then I'll I wonder whether or not I dreamt it it's true uh usually I haven't dreamt it but sometimes I have and I had some weird dreams today while I was asleep weird dreams but I can't remember what they were about oh yeah so Manchester I'll tell you what I liked about Manchester and I didn't get to sort of see the whole place but I was on the way up north to Rochdale and I was traveling from the south east
so Manchester was one of my stops and then I think I think I think I think I think I might be wrong was I wrong did I get a bus what is it I might have got coaches or was it trains but anyway I ended up in Manchester town or the city and I got onto a tram I've never been on a tram before I thought they were just made made up I didn't think they really existed or anymore I know they used to exist in fact where I used to live in Stratford East London
I think it was in the local bakery on the corner they had a big picture big picture it was a photograph of that exact spot that whole area like that corner so they were on the corner opposite the road opposite to them there was a like a mobile phone shop here this is back the days when mobile phones suddenly became popular so I'm talking I mean the bakery's probably there for years but I only really started going there in the late 90s and then parallel or you know I think it's parallel but across the other
on the other corner was the pub which was quite a famous pub in that area it was very much a landmark it's called the Thatched House take me to the Thatched House and it wasn't just the pub it was the area even though it was just the pub but you say oh can you take me get it you've got a taxi or someone said where do you live we're about since Stratford I lived at the Thatched House so it wouldn't assume that you lived in a pub you live in the area and it was a
landmark and this photograph is black and white it was in a frame I can't remember the color of the frame I think it was a white frame and and it was it was on the wall that's all I can remember and it was basically a picture of that intersection that that corner because that's where traffic was going down one was uh Leytonstone Leyton High Road which led to Leytonstone High Road the other was I can't remember what road that was where did that lead to I mean the other road led towards yeah wow that led
to Walthamstow yeah that's weird that led to Walthamstow yeah going up and down the other way led to the flats the Leyton Leyton flats or something I don't know yeah anyway so that whole area that whole corner was basically tram lines so they had trams they had trams in London I mean trams were everywhere I guess I mean I don't know if that was before buses existed was that before we had petrol I don't know before that was maybe before wheels were discovered I don't know maybe maybe they had the equipment they had the buses
they had the petrol they had the wheels the seats the perfect engines everything was fine but they couldn't start the bus service because they couldn't find enough grumpy men to drive the buses like oh keep interviewing people but they're just not rude enough sorry all right we can't start the service we need grumpy rude men that don't like their job but just come on we've got to find more but luckily as time went by society created created loads of them yeah so it's uh it's a very interesting to think that because it used to be
the docks like east London was the docks it had uh because you've got the Thames the river going I think they'd uh it's got different names as it goes through it's all connected to the sea isn't it ultimately but the Thames the whole thing so I think it was more cargo lago logo barge barges I said there'd be barges going up and down the river so they'd be they'd be filled up with stuff and that was like the old days you know going back and then I think a lot of it was changed to railway
so they'd have the trams would have the railway lines and before the Olympic Games in 2012 in London that whole area where the stadium is and all that stuff it was just railway tracks and broken down trains that's all it was a huge bit of land with broken down trains that's all there was there honestly and it used to be a shortcut for me from work to the tube station or to try you know Stratford train station used to cut through I wasn't allowed to but you know during the day it's fine in the evening
they'd have police and security sort of searching and kicking people out if they're up to no good but during the day they didn't seem to be that bothered and then I think they did yeah they locked it all up and blocked it off so I guess they knew quite a long time beforehand that they were going to be doing stuff including the channel tunnel was supposed to be going there as well so I mean it's hard to believe I wish I mean I didn't have a I didn't have a camera back then but if I
showed you if I showed you a picture in fact let me have a look let me have a look if there's a picture of I'll take my glasses off because I can't actually see the phone I can see the phone I can't see where is it okay let's have a look I think this is probably the site of the Olympic Games before building started let's have a look at the images okay I think I need to be specific about the country I'll tell you something, okay, right, UK, Stratford, images, right, yeah, there's a picture here,
Olympic efforts start to bear fruit, it's a big area, honestly, oh yeah look, Stratford before the Olympics, there's a picture, oh dear, oh dear, Stratford before the Olympics and there's pictures of broken down cars, wow, that's weird, so they've got a place here that is called Fridge Mountain, in pre-Olympic times, Stratford's 20 foot tall Fridge Mountain was one of the area's most iconic eyesores, believed to be the biggest collection of discarded white goods in Europe, the pile was the first thing to be shifted when the cleanup started, there's now an entirely different white beast in
its place, do you remember the Olympic Stadium, wow, and let's have a look at another, the Waterworks River, before and after, you probably think twice about taking a swim in them, but Stratford's waterways have benefitted hugely from Olympic regeneration, the multi-coloured sticky up crayon things are still a mystery to us, but they're certainly far easier on the eye than old car tyres and rusty bike corpses, that's a nice word, then it says Stratford Town Centre, got an unspeakably ugly 1970s shopping centre, you need to hide away from millions upon millions of eyeballs, easy, simply rebuild
the front bit, update the signs and chuck up some chimney petal things, the town's original retail hub may still be Westfield's ugly sister, but a superficial makeover means these days it's seducing more shoppers than ever, the shopping centre was awful, but I loved it, I'd go in there and there was nothing else, what else was there?
You know, if you live somewhere and the shopping centre is what you got, then you use that shopping centre, don't you, unless you've got, I suppose, if you've got a car and you know you can get somewhere else, but in London, where I lived, there wasn't really, oh no wait a minute, in Leighton Stone there used to be, I think, a supermarket, I'm not sure which one, and in Stratford, probably about 95, maybe later, maybe earlier, they built a supermarket in Stratford, which was, I don't know, it might have been a Sainsbury's, no not a
Sainsbury's, it might have been a Tesco or something like that, and it was a big supermarket, but I rarely went in there because it was, I don't know why really, and then the Stratford shopping centre, they had a Sainsbury's, but what they say on there, it's like 1970s shopping centre, yeah, that's what it was, but it was almost, well it was underground, you'd go in there and there was no windows, you know, there's windows into the shops, but it was all underground, and then that actually led, so you went the length of it, and it
led, you went down a ramp, which led you through some more tunnels to the underground, the train station, oh the underground and the train station, and then with Stratford, they built the Docklands whilst I was there, and then they, which is self-driving trains, like no, no, it's, there was a person on board, like the the conductor, who would open the doors and stop the doors and maybe, maybe pressed go for it to start and stop, but I think it's pretty much on automatic, there's no driver, but they were quite slow, I mean sometimes, you know,
you could walk faster sometimes, I remember once there was a elderly lady, and she was on a, using a zimmer frame, and I remember just talking to her, through the window, as we were traveling, so what else, I mean, I'll tell you, quite a good place is, I'm trying to think if Forest Gate had any, did Forest Gate have any supermarkets?
No, I lived in Forest Gate, so I must have eaten, I must have got my food from somewhere, and the closest place would have been Forest Gate, unless I just still went to Stratford, because in Stratford, they had, they had Sainsbury's, but they also had this big store, which was even more deeply embedded in the ground, and it was a cheap store, you know, like a Savers store, I suppose a little bit like Aldi is now, oh, I just get comfortable in this chair, anyway, so Carpenters Road Lock, causing games crowds to bottleneck, as they
glimpsed themselves in its reflective panels, the mirrored bridge remains one of the park's most creative and striking feature, Murrow's, okay, I don't know where that is, the Greenways, the Greenway, back in the first years of the 21st century, getting rid of an unwanted vehicle in East London was a snap, simply joyride over to Stratford, and park your ill-gotten wheels by the Stratford Marsh end of the Greenway, then set it on fire and run away, Log Cabin Pub, I find it interesting, they're not talking about the, well, actually, I wonder if it's got about my pub,
okay, Carvan Guy's got here East End pubs then and now, let's have a look, I wonder if it's got my pub in there, it won't have, I don't suppose, Abbey Arms, Plastow, so many, Galway Arms, Limehouse, Grapes, Hand and Flower, Spotted Dog, West End, come on, give me a Stratford one, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to look up the Thatched House, Thatched House, Stratford, it's not even there anymore, the pub's gone, I think it's a coffee shop now, which is very sad, Old Thatched Tavern, Pub and Dining in Stratford, wow, now
that's Stratford-upon-Avon, Thatched House, Leytonstone, okay, well it's still Stratford, Stratford and Leyton and Leytonstone, all kind of mingled, oh, here it is, a picture, like it from the past, it's nice, right, Thatched House, premises status, the pub is permanently closed, former base pub, converted to Spanish restaurant and tappers, bar named Corozon Latino and Keg, closed and gutted, then reopened as a pub, renamed All Seasons, now converted to betting shop, that's just wrong, so wrong, I'd love to know the history, I want to know how long it was there for, Thatched House pub, history, I want
to see what the history is of this, okay, if I put in Leytonstone, Leytonstone, so maybe it'll come up, here we go, yeah, here we go, got it, I got it, found it, the Thatched House, 245 High Road, Leytonstone, E11, it's Stratford, but hey, it's also Leytonstone, the Thatched House, there's a picture of it from 1938, looks the same, picture from 2003, yeah, pretty much the same, now there's a picture of it from now, or from 2012, Betfred betting shop, but it's a listed building, so the building still looks the same, it's just got a
different outside colour, wow, so it's got records going back to 1826, how great, wow, 1826, it's got records all the way up to 1991, isn't that amazing, so that pub has been there at least, well the pub was there from at least 1886, not 1826, and now it's a betting shop, Thatched House, so that's page one, oh come on, in fact, if I go to the pictures, images, oh yeah, I can see it now, there's, I've got, I found a picture where there's loads of tram lines, I'd love to, it's so clear as well, you
know, it's not, there's no loads of cars, and it's really, there's not a lot else there, I would love to be able to go back in time, just to visit, you know, just to visit in the old days, you know, I'd wear a suit of armour and stuff, but just to see what it was like back in 1826 or whatever, I mean man, that's, oh no, look at this, oh dear, oh dear, Thatched House, that's how I remember it, wow, proper tram, I mean they were walking, proper like, almost looks like people are walking over
railway lines to get to where they're going, the tram lines, aren't they, but just wow, wowzers, so I'm just going to click on that picture, oh come on, oh anyway, so that's what it used to be like, and now it's just a a betting shop, mind you, betting shops, I mean you can do all that stuff online now, can't you, so I don't know how they're gonna fare, I don't know, it's weird, just the first time I went in there was probably in 1989, and I've never been a pub person, so I'm not, I suppose
it's weird for me to be nostalgic towards a pub, I did go in very often, but I did go in there, you know, now and then, and there's a pool table, and it's quite, I think it's like a standard sized pub, you know, it's about the same kind of size as like an old pub, fairly big, but not huge, but you know, a nice size, yeah, I mean back in, back in those days, London, so many pubs, let me see if I can count how many I remember there being, just in my little area that
I lived, so in Stratford, there was, there was that pub, I tell you what's weird, and it might not be weird at all, but I'm struggling to visualize the area now, it's been, what, 20 years nearly since I moved, and yeah, wow, okay, let's try and think, so there's one, there was another, there's an Irish pub just around the corner from where I lived, there's no other pubs up that road that I can remember, but there was another one around the corner from there, so one, then another one a few doors up, so there's one,
two, this is on the way to the train station, so which wasn't far, it's about a 15 minute walk, there's one, two, three, four, five, six, yeah, I think there were six pubs on the way to the train station, which would be the equivalent to me walking to the local shop, that kind of distance, really not far at all, in fact, no, there's more, there's one, two, three, four, five, because Wetherspoons, five, six, seven, eight, yeah, because it was that one, because I used to become a nightclub, eight, yeah, so there's eight pubs, maybe more,
but there was at least eight pubs in that area, just in the journey, this, you know, it would take me to get my local shop here, so 15, 20 minute walk, and here there's, there's a closed down pub, it was open when I moved in, yeah, I walked in there one day, when I first moved there, I walked in, you know, it's a local pub, let's have a look, the size of the living room is, there's no point, it was too small, tiny little thing, and I couldn't understand how, I mean, they kept closing and
opening again, and changing over management, and I don't know how they made any money, because it's, they're too tiny, tiny little pub, and they closed again, and it hasn't been open for ages, I went there a couple of times in the summer, you know, previous summers, because I could sit outside, and they had a big area outside that people could sit in, but, sit down and stuff, but, you know what I mean, it's like, if it's a local pub, I want to be able to, I'd just be quite nice, not now, not in these strange
times, but if I had a local pub, I'd probably be in there, not right now, but just, yeah, I probably am, kind of, probably a regular, or go once a week, or, you know, a couple of times a week, but, I don't know if I would, I don't know, it depends, I don't know, have a shandy, maybe just have a coke, a lemonade, but yeah, it's strange, and then there's no other pubs at all for the whole journey to the shop, and then the closest pub is probably another, probably at least another 20 minutes, maybe
a half hour walk from there, going towards town, and it's a bus ride, basically, it's not practical, is it, and what's weird is, they used to have a supermarket, it wasn't like a proper supermarket, but it was like a high, high-end, expensive stuff, so they used to have, like, American breakfast cereal for five pounds, you know, so the only, the only cheap thing in there was milk, there's only so much you can put onto a milk price, so I didn't really go in there, because it was expensive, and then they closed, unsurprisingly, because it didn't,
I mean, people did come to go there, but I think they'd have had a bigger audience, more customers, if it'd been more of a general supermarket, like Sainsbury's or something, so they closed, and now I've been waiting to see what they're going to do, are they going to move a supermarket in there, is Tesco going to take it over, you know, to have a supermarket, even though it's still, you know, a 20-minute walk, a 25-minute walk, it'd still be amazing to have a supermarket close, like actually get some proper food, I just found out it's
going to be a solicitor's, a solicitor's has taken over the building, and, you know, this was a, this is a building on two floors, it had a restaurant, it had a deli counter, you know, it's even sold furniture, it wasn't a, it's not a small building, it's a really nice sized thing, so now they've got an accountancy firm there, what is the point, no solicitors, not even accountants, solicitors, I don't, I haven't got nothing against solicitors, I just prefer accountants, I don't know why, more relatable, maybe I don't understand solicitors, maybe I can get a
job there, so as usual, I've got no idea what I was talking about during this recording, I genuinely, genuinely do not know what I was talking about, I'll think of a, some title, something to do with pubs, I don't know, maybe not, oh, I don't know, anyway, I'm going to go, so thank you very much for listening, and I will speak to you tomorrow, so please remember to be kind to yourself, because you deserve to be happy, so do something nice, doesn't have to cost you money, you know, not everything is expensive, you could do
something, run a bath, phone a friend, go for a walk, I don't know, it doesn't have to be a financial thing, do something that you enjoy, watch a movie, or read a book, or write a book, I don't know, whatever it is that gives you happiness, right, so take care, and I'll speak to you soon, lots of love, bye.
