Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com My name's Jason Newland and this is Jason. Let me bore you to sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.

I want to say a big happy birthday to my sister for today. Not that she's going to hear this but just thought I'd say it anyway, you know. And I've got a lot of thank yous to say.

A lot to tell you. All of it's boring apart from the thank yous. So, I'll tell you what might be easier if I just go to there.

Give me two seconds. My activity. I want to say thank you to the following people to start with.

Ariana, Mrs. Kurok, Jenny, Emily, Linda, and Helen. Thank you very much for your kindness. So, thank you for your help.

You've been very, very, very good. Very good of you. You've been very nice.

Well done. No, genuinely, I have replied to everybody to say thank you. You should have got an email from me.

Thank you very much because you've really helped me to pay for my podcast. And the website's going to be back on Wednesday. So, I've got a little bit of work catching up to do and stuff.

But that'll be back online Wednesday. So, thank you for those people that helped me out, Sammy, with PayPal. I really appreciate it.

And I want to say thank you to everybody that listens to my podcasts. Genuinely, because whether or not you send, you know, you know, trying to help to pay for the cost of running the costs, whatever, it's still, I still appreciate you listening, you know, because without you listening, there'd be no point in me doing it. You know, I could be, I could be sitting here making a recording to five people a day, you know, and chances are, I probably would, because I don't know.

I don't think I've got it in me to do that. But I would have done in the past. That's why it's so hard to start a new podcast.

And why it's so difficult to, to move these podcasts to a different podcast host. And I've had a few people sort of mentioned maybe get a cheaper podcast host. And so I appreciate that.

I mean, you know, got people doing research for me. It's lovely. That's very nice of you.

I have done a lot of research myself. And I've also been with lots and lots of different podcast hosts. Most, I'd say pretty much all podcast hosts, I've been with over the years, tested them out.

Some, it's the thing. I mean, they're all good. You know, none of them are, I don't think any of them are bad.

They're all good. But it depends what you're looking for. What you need out of your podcast host.

For me, having just one podcast is not enough. Because I've got lots of different podcasts. And also, I've got a different audience for the different podcasts.

And I've got this blooming fly that's been pestering me for days, just one fly. Maybe it's a hint that I need to have a bath, but it's literally he was the other side of the room earlier. I was on my big black squeaky dirty, worn out chair.

Oh, here's a funny thing. It's just well, not that funny. But it's funny compared to what I normally say.

And I took a selfie of myself. I don't normally do selfies, as if you're on Facebook, you know, I don't generally put pictures of myself. If anything, it's going to be a picture of Andre.

Most of the stuff I post is just the latest recordings, you know, that I've done. But I thought that the reason okay, the reason I did it, here's the reason. I'll read this out to you.

I don't want it to land on top of my coke. Because guaranteed it's been sitting on one of Andre's poos. Even I've just changed all the papers.

He likes to definitely likes to knock them out. Okay, he's an email ad. And oh, I replied to it.

Really? That's ridiculous. Oh, oh, okay. It's headlined good singers.

Oh, okay. They have replied to me. Wow.

Okay, well, I'll go back to you. So I am this this is terrible. Okay, this is from Thames.

This is TV casting. It says, basically, they've got a new TV show called I can see your voice. Hello, Jason, we get in touch with you.

As you've confirmed to us that we may contact you about other Thames programs. We'll put my glasses on for this. Oh, I don't need one slide to look cool when I'm reading.

Oh, we have a show coming up that might interest you. I can see your voice is a brand new mystery music guessing game for BBC One that promises a whole new take on the singing game show genre, as well as lots of music, comedy, and play along fun for the whole family to enjoy. Cool.

We are looking for good singers, bad singers, and pairs of contestants. So under the good singers, it says, do you want to take to the stage and show people what you've got? Then email good singers at Thames.tv for an application form. Bad singers can't seem to save you a life, but think you have what it takes to convince people you're actually a brilliant singer for a chance to win a cash prize.

Oh, wait a minute. Email bad singers. So they get a chance to win money.

Contestants. Okay, we are looking for teams of two people from the same household or support bubble. Who'd have thought that term would ever sort of stick around? Do you want it? Yes, near my bubble are going to come along.

Do you want to take part in a brand new planning? Like bubble fortunes or the bubble feuds, sort of family feuds? Do you want to take part in a brand new mystery guessing game music for chance to win there? So basically anyway, so I've applied under the good singers. I didn't read the other bit about being able to win some money. And what I did is I replied to them.

Here's my reply. Oh, there it is. Hello.

Hi. My name is Jason Newland. See, I say Newland when I'm doing the typing.

I'm a pretty good singer. However, I'm 50 a bit fat and a big beard. No one would believe I'd be able to sing at all.

Therefore I may be a good person for your new show. I will send you a picture of my hairy face. Please send application form.

If you think I'm suitable. I'll put my address down there. Which I'm not gonna have.

Never. Unless you've got a game show for me. You know, if Oprah's listening, you can have my address.

And I took a picture of my big hairy funny face. Because I thought that, because I don't, you know, they're gonna look at me and think, oh, he's just walked up off the streets. He's just, where's his bickering bowl? That's what they're gonna think.

And then I'll come out and I'll, to be fair, I don't think no matter what I sounded like, I'd sound good compared to how I look. So okay, so they've come, they've sent me back here an email saying with the application form, what does the application form say? Let's have a look. What's my first name, last name? Any other names, stage names? Age and date of birth, phone, email and all that.

Town. Do you have the right to live and work in the UK? No. Do you hold a UK passport? Yeah.

If not, please provide details of passport. Have you appeared on TV before? If so, which TV shows? Did you sing on TV? Are you under any contractual obligations to any other person or company that may hinder your involvement in the program? If so, please give your details. Am I a member of the Royal Family? What do you do for a living? Are you employed, unemployed, a carer, parent, etc? If you are unemployed, what is your current job title? And if you are employed, what is your current job title and company you work for? Have you ever been paid for singing engagement? No.

Do you have an agent or manager? No. Have you had any professional singing training? Well, a couple, but it's like two lessons. It's not really professional singing, is it? How long have you been? You know what? Okay.

I went, my last singing lessons I had was probably about, it's gotta be seven years ago, maybe six years ago. And I went to this place and the, I think she had a, like a piano or something, asked me to copy the tunes. And I could, she said I was key perfect, or she said, well, she said I could do the, I could reach the key.

Obviously not, not the huge high keys. And how long, how many times can you turn the bathroom light on and off? It's not a joke, I'm just asking. Downstairs.

Do you play any musical instruments? Nope. What's your go-to karaoke song? Two Little Boys by North. Please listen, list any fun facts about yourself.

What should I put there? My belly, my belly wobbled for the first time when I was running to the garage to get some birthday cake. Back in 2000 and, yeah, 2000. Maybe I don't put that on.

Please provide us with details of your social media accounts, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok. TikTok. I actually am on TikTok, but I haven't figured out how to make a thing.

And it's not really, I'm not really suited for, Andre Schuss. I'm not really suited for tiny short videos. I'm, I've been gone a bit, haven't I? Do you have a YouTube channel? Oh my goodness, they're going to be checking me out, aren't they? There's no way I'll get through if they do that.

I don't care. Might have got to fill this in and just send it back. And that's it.

I've just got to tick some things. How do I get Word to edit this file? It's ridiculous. Anyway, so that's that.

So I might, you know, thinking, thinking about it. Well, I've got nothing to lose, have I really? My dignity went a long time ago. I got a nice, so it's been a bit of a weird day.

I got another nice email. This is something that I was offered last month. So it's, it's called DAZN, D A Z N. And it's a YouTube sports channel.

And I think it's mainly boxing, but I might be wrong. I think it's boxing. But they have a lot of boxing on there.

Oh, excuse me. And last month they said, do you want to be part of our, can you just be quiet, please, Andre? Thank you. Do you want to be part of our beta testing community team or whatever? It's a global beta community.

So what it means is they're testing out the service in the UK. It's already in America and stuff. So I've been chosen to a free month to test it out to see, you know, if it works, you have to be invited apparently.

It's not bad, is it? So I'm on there for a month and the first fight should be on the 24th of July, which is this coming Friday, I do believe. So that'd be cool. And I'll watch it.

I can't watch it on a telly, so I'm going to have to watch it on the iPad. That's okay. I don't mind.

Another thing is my computer broke down. That didn't break down, it's broke. It's gone to computer heaven.

So there you go. So that's it. That's done.

So I have to, I'm going to have to figure out how to edit the recording without using, so I usually use Audacity. Audacity is available on Windows. I think it might be available on Mac, but it's a laptop, it's not available on tablet.

Or is it? I think it is anyway. So I just need to figure out a way of doing it. I'll have to do it quickly because we want to upload this recording, innit? So it's quite weird on the iPad.

I can't, if I go into, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, that's a point. Maybe it's a Chrome thing. Maybe I can only do it in Chrome, but it wouldn't, okay, it wouldn't allow me to download it.

But if, when I open it up in Chrome in the Android, it would. So I need to download it, the recording, and then edit it and then re-upload it. Anyway, I won't bore you with that.

Wait a minute, it's all well. And, uh, it's like a little, had a little ceremony, you know, wave goodbye to the laptop. It's weird though, because now the table's clear, because it was quite a chunky thing, you know? And although the screen was bigger than the iPad, it wasn't hugely bigger.

So this is just kind of weird. It was this big, chunky whirring thing. Rrrr.

Honestly, just you could hear the fan. It was all right when I first got it. It was pretty quiet when I first got it, but it's a bit shy, I suppose.

But, um, now it's gone with everything I had on it as well.

So I don't think there's anything that I'm, other than pictures I suppose, oh no not even that really, yeah images, images that are on the, oh I forgot about that, wow, oh wow wow wow yeah I've lost my images, oh no I can make new images it's not that difficult and if I learn, if I take the time and actually learn how to put together videos with some graphics and then just add, you know, and then put my voice underneath the graphics you know in the sense of add quite a few of the hypnosis, like

have a spiral on the screen but then under, you know, the voice of the person talking so I've done it before I just haven't done it on a tablet before so I just have to look into it and might be able to come up with something extra special yes but it's not my priority right now oh yeah, I'm tired, I've got a new routine, it's not really, it's not new nice sniff I'll clear my throat now, what else can I do, no there's no gas I was going to try and fart but there's no, yeah

it's not a routine really but I wake up in the morning sounds like some kind of blues song doesn't it, wake up in the morning got my teeth in my mouth I can't think of anything that rhymes then I put on my underpants, realise I'm in the wrong house I'd be better if I'd done it all sort of straight away, be like wow that was quick and the fact that took about an hour, well it's good for me so getting up at 6 30 or 7 30 and watching cheers in the morning and I'm sure

I've mentioned this before what a beautiful way to start the day genuinely, I discovered this back in 1990 I'd say 92, 1992 because went through periods and I don't know why but I used to wake up early maybe it was the summer, maybe, maybe it was one landlady screaming at the top of her voice for a catch to come in and have some breakfast free doh!

free doh! free doh! miss me! miss me! oh come on really? she wouldn't really want that anyway and she she's italian she didn't like me to call her by her first name but everybody else did and i refused to call someone by her i just can't do it mrs serenova or whatever mrs del monte i don't know what her name was and what i did at the time i don't know and she said call me miss but i don't believe it and i was like oh ok but everyone else would call her doris morning doris hello there how are you doing morning doris even the mice called her by her first name and she said me?

call me mr teravano mr teravano no i remember your name why can't i call you doris it's a disrespectful i can't do the accent it's a disrespectful everyone else called her doris turned out her name was patricia so i was waking up early in the morning for some reason i was getting up early anyway i was waking up getting up i think we started work at half seven i think so i'd get up probably half six i think i'd only lift how far yeah less than half an hour walk to work so i'd like get

up have me breakfast go to the toilet clean me teeth finish me breakfast wipe me bum you know that kind of just it's a juggling thing isn't it and i'd get to work so i didn't i think i used to set my alarm at six but then i'd get up at about twenty past or something i started waking up at five and i had no idea how boring this story was going to be before i started telling it but at the same time how nostalgic it's weird because i was twenty one years old twenty one

well until the end of august but you know it's nearly the end of the year isn't it well not really but you know what i mean it's two thirds in yeah i think and it's two thirds in isn't it august, september, october, november, december my birthday is the twenty sixth of august yeah twenty sixth of august fifty or is it thirty two fifty fifty inch waist fifty, twenty six so literally in four months time after that, boxing day and twelve divided by three three twelve what four times by twelve that'd be, no four, no, four

times by three to three how many fours in twelve well none, it's just a one and a two isn't it fractions used to do my head in at school well i take them out of school because i didn't attempt them well a little bit i did, i looked at them see for me i was ok until they went a little bit too far i think they went too far with fractions you know like a sixteen i could do a one one was, i found one to be the easiest one some people say it's not a

fraction but it's a whole isn't it well you know and then you've got half you've got a quarter or a third you know thirty three point three point three, point three, point three, point three, point three there's something missing isn't there you know, thirty three point three that means point one doesn't exist doesn't make sense anyway what was i talking about, oh yeah this i woke up no, no, no, no, no i, i i remember there was this the tv show never seen it before in my life and i had a black and white television

i honestly think wow, i'm not sure if i had a colour television until 2005 1995, not 2005, 1995 and then when i moved away from London i had a black and white television a black and white television that i think my dad gave me that he i don't know, i think he was using it as a toilet or something but anyway, he gave it to me and a black and white television still sounds silly now and i was so disinterested in my life back then i didn't even bother changing it for a coloured one in

some months i'd be taking when i was when i had that job i was earning twenty four thousand a year twelve twelve basic plus twelve bonus i know it's not like millions of pounds but my outgoings were pretty much zero my rent was i think sixty five pound a week at my studio apartment i had electric to pay which was probably i'd say ten pound a week, it wasn't a lot probably less than that but let's say ten pound a week so seventy five pound a week i had no credit cards i had no debt

at all, it was like every single penny was mine yet i still didn't have any money how ridiculous mind you, i'll tell you what happened i'll come back to the tv show in a minute what happened is one of those embarrassing moments there's a message to the lady that sent me Andre's tube like, you know, to play him he sleeps in it now which i thought was cute to start with but now it keeps moving around in it making noise and i'm trying to talk he loves it in there i don't know why, i suppose

i guess it's a natural instinct, he would be sleeping down a hole somewhere wouldn't he in nature he'd be in it's his natural thing to be going through a tunnel loves it in there, absolutely loves it and yeah, embarrassing i've been working here since september 2001 i think it was april 2002 i started to get good well no, it was january pretty much but you know, for the first 3 months i was just awful at the job, i wasn't any good at all and by, i think it was april i was in the top the

top like 5 on the leaderboard out of about 250 people and they were taking loads of new people on all the time so i was i did loads of overtime and everything as well as i anyway my my team lead, no my the sales manager sales manager came up to me one day and said you're scruffy that's what he said to me Andre i'll tell you why he stays in that tunnel, he's lazy because he started running through it to get to the paper to do a wee and then running all the way through it

back to get to his bag now he can't be bothered to crawl all the way through the tunnel he's lazy shush he said to me the other day i don't know why you tell me to be quiet when you're recording people want to hear me not everybody in fact someone actually said they don't want to hear him i like your recordings but i don't like hearing that ferret that weasel that squirrel and he said yeah you're scruffy why are you so scruffy?

you're the top sales people there you're earning good money, why are you so scruffy? i said what do you mean? he said look at you i said well i can't look at myself can i? unless you've got a mirror and he did, he actually had a full length mirror pulled out from his jacket that's strange i said well what do you want? well what should i do then? he said get yourself some nice clothes get yourself some, dress yourself smartly that's the way forward in this company so i was embarrassed i guess that's like, i don't know to me that's, it's not far off from being told that i'm smelly you know it's kind of pulling someone aside yeah i'm afraid of you your ears really smell i was like okay he says who?

they show you a piece of paper with loads of people and names oh great how did my mans name get on here?

so i thought okay i'll get some new clothes and i went overboard i've got a habit of doing that and i bought i bought loads and everything was i wouldn't say expensive it was from next so everything i got, shoes, shirts tight, loads of different ties i didn't get suits but i did get quite a few different pairs of trousers and stuff new underwear even though no one was going to see that and really smartened myself up like overnight because as i said i was getting on a good month i'd take home seventeen, eighteen hundred

pounds on a good month after tax and i'd just genuinely i would just spend it on beer beer, cakes, fast food dvds or videos at the time but i must have had a coloured tv eventually because why would i get videos if i didn't have a coloured tv i must have done yeah i must have, no way in the world i wouldn't be watching videos in black and white even i wouldn't do that depending on what the videos were but you know what i mean i don't mind black and white films actually i'll tell you

what does me, well doesn't do me but what i find surprising is the horror films from the fifties and sixties and the seventies they're now on in the afternoon they're on in the afternoon three o'clock in the afternoon Dracula with not Donald not Luke Majors not Lee Van Cleef, Christopher Lee Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing i mean those were like, they were horror they were adults only films yet this film was on Frankenstein lives as another one was on three o'clock in the afternoon this is a beginning some of the scenes may not be suitable

for small children didn't say that at the time did they blimey, you had to be eighteen to watch them in the sixties now as long as you're over eight months old you're fine i wonder if that's what it's going to be like in the future thirty years, thirty, i don't know, forty years time saw or beyond you're on like ten o'clock on a Saturday morning the hostel maybe a little bit of parent guidance you know for this maybe no one under the age of three should watch this really maybe that's where we're going in forty

years time i'll be eighty nine wow wow did you know did you know this might surprise you and i need to check i know it's true, i need to check William Shatner he's 89 years old he's 89 89 wow can't just say it again, he's 89 how is this he just he does not look just doesn't look it, you know i mean if nothing else he's still got some weight on him not people, not many people you don't see people like me generally get into ninety it's usually more slimmer people manage to win that race

that particular race reaching ninety and above there's not many you may say where's your proof i've got eyes generally it's the slimmer people that seem to and i'm not a slim person i'm not hugely pleased with myself but yeah i'm not saying he's poorly but he's definitely got i nearly said some nice udders i don't mean that even his cheeks are chubby mind you, my uncle Anthony he had chubby cheeks and he was i'm not sure if, yeah i think he was 80 i don't know what he got to, about 89 maybe he was 90

might be in late 80s, 89, 90, 92 he was big, broad it's quite weird because i see my dad turning into him he's the same body shape when i saw my uncle Anthony he was bald but he used to have ginger hair when he was younger and anyway, William Shatner the first time i saw him in a comedy show was Third Rock From The Sun never seen him do a comedy obviously saw him in Star Trek TV show from the 60s saw him in all the Star Trek movies that he was in and not really

seen much else of what he's done, i know he does some of those shows where he's showing clips the Unexplained, i think that's one of them i think i've seen that a few times but the show's not about him he sort of introduces bits i think it's great, i like it, i'm a fan oh, what they didn't put down why didn't they put the one down which was where he was with George Foreman did you see that i saw that, brilliant he was with George Foreman someone that i didn't really know but he was a

big star in America they were all famous in America i think i knew three of them one of them i recognised but i didn't really know him i think he's a comedy actor from the 70s but anyway when he was in Third Rock From The Sun oh, he's so funny anyway so i've got my i'm not sure if i've got a haircut as well but i've got all these new clothes and because i live around the corner from the laundrette i say of course, like you would know obviously i hear that so often when people

say obviously especially on radio shows when they're phoning in but obviously my husband works on the oil rigs well it's not obvious to anyone is it, other than you and your husband it's not obvious to the listeners how's that obvious i've never been so angry and yeah so i'd wake up and i had it was five o'clock in the morning and i saw Soap the TV sitcom Soap on Channel 4 never seen it before and i laughed my willy off i could not stop laughing and it was so funny so funny and i'd you know,

i was a fan of Billy Crystal anyway and i'd seen what's the film i went to see when i got off i went and saw a Billy Crystal film aww he's not going to bug me really Billy Crystal come on Billy Crystal he's been in so many movies hasn't he Princess Amarthe one of my favourite films he was in so i liked Throw Mumma Off The Train when Harry Met Sally it's just a it's just like a huge huge film City Slicker, the game, great and Analyse this my favourite one was Missed Saturday Night that

was 1992 what is the one i watched maybe it wasn't Billy Crystal oh well so i watched Soap and obviously Billy Crystal was in that i think that was his first big TV thing i might be wrong he might have done Saturday Night Live before that i did look into it actually a while back and if i was if i was willing to look down at my phone i could look now but i can't be bothered but yeah he's so funny he just he just cracked me up and i started setting my alarm for 5

o'clock so i could get up and watch it i didn't get up i just sat up in bed i might have had to go downstairs to do a tingle i can't remember but yeah he was so funny that's when i discovered that having a watching a comedy show first thing in the morning or upon arising is a pretty good start to the day and i've been doing that recently by getting up and watching Cheers which is on at 6.

30 or sometimes i watch Catch Up at 7. 30 so i might get up at 7.

30 generally i watch Cheers and then there's what else is there i think there's two episodes of Cheers and they alternate they alternate what's it called oh this is terrible isn't it Everyone Loves Raymond so Everyone Loves Raymond was i've been watching that for a couple of years now and it's just so funny it's one of those kind of there's no reason why it shouldn't be funny but every episode is funny it's just perfectly written it's a really really good show anyway i know i'm a little bit behind on that one because i think they

finished recording it about 15 years ago but i liked it i still do and then and then Frasier's on i think there's two or three episodes of Frasier so it starts at 6.

30 two episodes of Cheers two episodes of Everyone Loves Raymond and then three episodes of Frasier so that's seven episodes of really good comedy now the i think last week and for a while they had Mike and Molly instead of Everyone Loves Raymond and i didn't really like Mike and Molly when i first saw it but i think it's because it is character it's about the characters and for me how can i talk for myself it's kind of fallen in love with the characters and it becomes funnier i mean some comedies they can work you

don't have to like the characters for it to work because the comedy is so strong and the lines are so good like in Cheers you can have someone who's hardly ever even in the show can do a pretty good one-liner but in Mike and Molly maybe it's maybe it's because he's so big i can relate to the belly maybe i should be giving birth soon so yeah i don't know i like watching it a few weeks ago we had the Golden Girls on about midday that's not a good time for me i don't really i'm

usually busy doing something else maybe in bed but midday is not really my kind of time so i didn't see it that often and they seem to have stopped showing it now so maybe they showed every episode because they were doing 2 back to back 5 days a week so they'd be getting through probably a season a week possibly you know 10 episodes, 12 episodes so i guess it wouldn't have lasted more than 4 or 5 weeks depending on how many seasons in England well i say England i think Britain as well but in England

we don't use the word season we say series like the latest series of Frasier we don't use season but because i just use the term season now because of the simple fact that i just got used to it i think i'd use series if i was speaking to an English person probably but i think i don't know it doesn't really matter does it i don't know really but yes i learned years ago it's a good start a nice little jump start to the day admittedly back in 1992 i wasn't sitting there for 4 hours or

3 hours and generally i can't say i do that everyday either but i definitely do the first cheers, i like to listen to cheers or listen to it and watch it sometimes i go back to bed and i'll get up again and i'll watch Frasier because on plus 1 so instead of starting at 10.

30 i'll start at 11. 30 or instead of 9. 30, 10.

30 something like that by the way if you think i'm watching television all day i don't i genuinely don't i bought these shirts and i started i thought well i haven't got an i don't think i had an iron or an ironing board mind you i didn't think i had a colour tv until i realised i did i mean then i knew i did then but i didn't know now although i remembered well not right now but earlier in the recording how strange so yeah i think it would be i used to take them to

the dry cleaners so that was quite expensive i'd probably spend £30 a week on dry cleaning and i used to take them in and there was a changing room downstairs and hang them all up and then i'd carry them home as i'd collect them during my break time and carry them home and i think when i left my job i chucked all the shirts out or gave them to charity shops and then i ended up getting another job in insurance so i had to buy new shirts and i left there and i chucked all my

shirts out again or gave them to charity and then i ended up going to university never going to wear a shirt again i said to myself never going to wear a tie apart from during my not interrogation graduation it was a graduation but it wasn't a real tie i just wanted those bow floppy things but it wasn't mine i just rented it with the toques and yeah and i ended up working in insurance again which meant i needed to get myself some more shirts again that was really boring so what messages have i had wow

what the hell was that i just had to do a had to do a surveillance it was a big bang but i can't see where it came from oh well i have to try and figure out a theory of how that was caused shall we call it the big bang theory oh yeah so yep that's it i've got a few messages but i won't read them because i have read them but i'll read them another time there's not enough time because i need to figure out how i'm going to edit this here thing took andre
