#26 Let me bore you to sleep - LIVE - Jason Newland (18th June 2018)

Hello, welcome to jasonnewland.com and I am just posting this to Facebook, so that's it really. So this is being recorded and hopefully, hopefully, hopefully it's loud enough. I hope.

So I'm just getting this ready, sorry I'll just be a second. Cancel, delete draft. Right, so I've no idea if this is even, I don't know, I don't know what I'm doing here.

Not sure if anyone can actually hear me or not, but this is a live broadcast. I'm just trying to figure out if anybody can actually call me, like you know, phone in to speak to me and it should be nice. There you go.

I think I deserve a round of applause. Thank you very much for that. So this is the first let me bore you to sleep that I've done for quite a while now.

Quite a while actually. It's about two weeks or something like that. And I thought it'd just be good to do a live session.

Whenever I do a live, something live, I like to just test it. I like to just see if it's useful, you know, if it works, which is, it's a bit distracting though, distracts me a little bit. But I need to remember that people will be listening to this after the event, you know, when it's finished.

People will be listening to this, you know, on iTunes or maybe Spotify, SoundCloud, Spreaker, Podchaser, Anchor, Castbox, I don't know. There's so many different, Player FM, you know, all over the place. There's so many, lots of different podcast directories that I'm listed in, which is quite cool.

But at the same time, it's apparently you can leave me messages while I'm actually recording live or when I'm producing or broadcasting live. You can leave me a, you can sort of tap in a message or something. Yeah, so here we go.

I hope that you're all well and you're able to close your eyes, but only do so if it's safe to do so. If you only ever listen to me, then you can safely close your eyes because the whole point of this really is to be incredibly boring, which luckily I'm able to do naturally. It's one of my special powers.

I don't know what other special powers I've got. I mean, today earlier, some of the thoughts that I was doing was so really awful ones. Now I do think that it was turning into some kind of a special power or something.

I actually was thinking, you know, if I kept on farting like that, not only would I have to open all the windows, but I was thinking I might have to go up to the hospital. They were worried and they were really smelly. I'll tell you how smelly my farts were.

If I was able to have done those kind of farts when I was at school, I would have been way more popular. It would have been brilliant. But I didn't have those skills back then.

So there may be background sounds as per usual, standard stuff. Also, I'll talk a little bit about what's going on for me. I think what I'm going to do is just lay back.

Oh, that's good. Just lay back and relax and tell you all about all about my exciting, exciting life. So where do I start? Well, first of all, it was 1970.

And my first memory was this really, it was like a damp cellar. And no, I'm joking. So the last couple of weeks, I've kind of been a bit up and down.

A bit, a bit, you know, a bit working on the website, which is now gone. So I've, for financial reasons, I have deleted a few things. I had to get rid of a few things.

One is Netflix. And it's hardly a priority in life, is it? So I had to kind of extinguish that one, that subscription. That's a nice noise.

What else I needed to get rid of? I needed to reduce the subscription, the cost of my website. So Andre's decided to climb all over me now. What are you doing? I think it confuses them when I'm sitting here talking to myself.

I don't think he knows how to, what's going on. Do you? You don't know what's going on. Why's Daddy sitting there talking to himself? So I think, you know, I decided to cancel the website, which was costing me 20, what was it? $24 a month or 20 odd pounds.

I don't know. So that's gone. And I've gone and transferred my domain name so that I have, I'm now using Blogger again.

And at the moment, it's just one page with links to my stuff, really, which is all I really need. What else have I done? I got rid of, I can't remember. Yeah, I reduced a couple of things, a couple of payments.

I have actually got my first app. So I purchased my first app from Spreaker, which is now it's on the Google Play Store. So it's an Android app.

And it's for the hypnotic buffet sessions that I do every Monday. So I'm kind of pleased with that. And so far, I've had two downloads or uploads, whatever you call them, of the app since I started here.

So it's been active for about three days. I think since Wednesday or Thursday, and it's now, what, Sunday. So, you know, it's not, it's not an overnight success.

I don't give it time, though. I'm just kind of quite, kind of quite excited that I've got an app. Feels quite nice, you know.

Ideally, I'd like to have an app which had everything that I've got on there, but I've got too much stuff. Nobody would be able to download the app because it'd be, you know, it'd be too big. The file would be too big.

It'd be the biggest app in the world. I'm not quite sure how it works because, you know, I've got an app which is for, it's like a karaoke app. And there's thousands, probably maybe millions of songs on there.

So they're clearly not all stored on the actual app. So I don't know how it works. I really don't.

I like the idea of having everything available. So you could just search. But you can do that anyway with the, I guess with, you know, by going on to Spreaker.

Or going on to SoundCloud, the SoundCloud app and just putting my name in. I wonder why he's just lying on my belly. Just stroking the top of his head.

He seems quite happy. I'm feeling a little bit dehydrated at the moment. Don't know why.

I feel I need to have a drink. But it's really rare that Andre just lies down on me and goes to sleep. Doesn't do it very often.

He's usually really wiggly and wobbly and wanting to cause mischief. Tonight for some reason he's just laying on me. I don't quite know what's going on with him.

I'm sure he'll get up in a minute. Oh, now he's biting my hand. That's nice.

Oh, he's still lying on me. It's very strange. It's really unusual for him to do that.

Mind the microphone. You're getting daddy kisses. That was a weird squeaky noise, wasn't it? It's a little weird squeaky noise.

I'll have a drink. So that's my boring life. I've just been promoting my podcasts, basically.

Trying to get them out there. Trying to get them, as many of them, onto the Apple Podcast. Trying to get them just spread around and also trying to promote the app.

As well as that, I've also been uploading more videos onto my YouTube channel. I've decided to try and put all my stuff on there, onto just one channel again, like I used to. But I'm just doing it bit by bit.

I'm not doing it all in one go. Also... I realise there's a need to make more. You know, new... I was going to say produce.

Produce more new stuff. Which is what I'd like to do more of. I'd also... Thinking about it.

As I look at this screen. So I'm recording this... On an app on my iPhone. So it's like a recorder device.

Connected. It's the Spreaker Recorder. And I've got 162 minutes and 49 seconds left.

Of this session. If I choose to talk for the whole of this session. Which I won't.

Not for that long. Blimey. There's not enough batteries in this thing to last that long.

I do quite like the idea of... Maybe... Doing some kind of... Chat. Or... Advice thing. Where people can phone in.

Or call in or ask questions. Something like that. You don't have to call me.

You don't have to call in necessarily. But you could... Type messages on Facebook. And ask me a question.

161 downloads. Sunday... Saturday rather. 46 plays.

121 downloads. It's quite lower. And then today... Well yesterday's Sunday.

I'm still awake so I can still class it as Sunday. 132 plays. 194 downloads.

So it's... Still... Quite a lot. And it's gone up. Again.

So totally for the last 16 days I think... I've had 2,167 plays. And 3,584 downloads. And the total hours of people playing... Listening you know... On apps and stuff.

Just the plays not the downloads. The total number of hours is 1,972 hours. Whatever that comes to in... Days.

I don't know. And my most popular... Yeah. That's interesting.

I haven't looked at this before. My most popular... App. My most popular podcast for plays... Is the... Relaxation Hypnosis.

I know. It's the Relaxation Hypnosis. And the other one is... Sleep Hypnosis with Music.

Which is the second highest... As far as plays go. Downloads. The top one... Is... Relaxation Hypnosis.

Ah. And... The second one... Downloads. The second one for downloads is... Sleep Hypnosis Weekly.

For downloads. That's 412. The other one was 467.

Ah. It's all adds up doesn't it I suppose. Demographics.

So this is... So this is boring for you. This is actually exciting for me. I love it all.

So let's say plays and downloads. I'll just do the whole 30 days... Last month. 16th of May.

What day is it? It's June now isn't it? No last month. Last 30 days. So... Yeah it's pretty much been going nearly a month now.

But... I had very little activity... Until... The 1st of June. Before that I had... The 29th I had 9 plays, 12 downloads. 30th of May.

54 plays, 9 downloads. 31st of May. 22 plays, 12 downloads.

And then it started to build up. So I had only 8 downloads on the 1st of June. But 325 plays.

Then the 2nd of June. 67 plays, 111 downloads. And it starts to go up.

3rd of June. 57 plays. But 370 downloads.

4th of June goes up again. 94 plays. 597 downloads.

5th of June. 55 plays, 101 downloads. So it goes down quite a dip there.

Then it goes up again. It's like a... Like tower blocks. Some are bigger than others.

6th of June. 118 plays, 396 downloads. 7th of June.

104 plays, 102 downloads. 8th of June. 49 plays, 112 downloads.

9th of June. 66 plays, 143 downloads. 10th of June.

32 plays, 120 downloads. 11th of June. 128 plays, 222 downloads.

And a little bit of a rise here on the 12th of June. 315 plays, 305 downloads. 13th of June.

185 plays, 201 downloads. And what is it? The 13th. 185 plays, 201 downloads.

14th. 143 plays, 172 downloads. The 15th.

102 plays, 161 downloads. 16th. 46 plays, 121 downloads.

And then yesterday, 132 plays, 194 downloads. That's what I've got on Spruka. So it's only really been the last one.

Pretty much the 1st of June until now. So it's pretty much 17 days. Today's the 18th, but so far I've got 21 downloads.

It's 2.51, so that's in the last... 2 hours and 51 minutes. So it's really just been June that I've had those. So in likes, according to this, nothing.

Which is not great, is it? So these are the stats, the overall statistics. But then people are watching, they're going, I don't know, people keep coming back, so they can't all hate what I do, surely. Geolocation.

So here's the stats for this. This is pretty much, you know, there's a few before June, but it's mainly June. The United States, 69.98% of the people that download and play or whatever are from America.

The 2nd highest is Spain. Which surprised me, actually. Because I thought it would be England or, you know, like it is on some other podcast hosts.

But it's Spain at 6.89%. So thank you, Spain. Thank you for America as well. And thank you, Spain.

I've had constant support from America since I've started making videos and doing podcasts, you know, 12 years ago. Or 12 and a half years ago. So it's something that I'm kind of used to, but I still appreciate it.

So thank you, Spain, 6.89%. Australia is 3rd at 4.85%. United Kingdom, where I live, is 4th. It's 4.1.8%. Canada is next. That's 2.74%. I've just got to get up and stop Andre from trashing the table.

It's a huge long list. So the biggest place of all that's listening. So I don't know if these include downloads or just plays.

I don't know. But the top of the list is iHeartRadio. And that's at 35.6% or 35.06%. And the amount is $1,995.

Next is the Spreaker website. And again, I don't know if this is plays or downloads or both, but I think it's just plays actually from the looks of it. It's 8.24% and that's $460.
