[00:02:18] I actually had a topic I was going to discuss today. I had it all in my mind. I had it kind of planned out. I've been thinking about it since this morning. Well, since yesterday actually. But now I've decided to do something different.

[00:02:46] I guess it's kind of a... you could call it a technique. It's not really... I suppose it is kind of... It's something I've done before. But in this way, it's... you know, it's not hypnosis. It's just a little bit of focusing. That's all.

[00:03:12] So, I'm going to ask you to focus on two parts of your body. Now, the first part of your body would be a part of your body where there's chronic pain. Okay. That's the first part I'm going to ask you to keep coming back and focusing on.

[00:03:38] The other part of your body I'm going to ask you to focus on is any part of your body that feels absolutely fine. You might even feel good. You might feel comfortable, relaxed. It may even be pleasure. I don't know. It depends where you focus on.

[00:04:02] I mean, if I was to focus on my biceps, it feels quite nice because I've just been working out. So, I've got a slight little bulge there. A tiny little... It's like a little pea. But to me, that's a big bicep. So, it feels quite nice right now.

[00:04:27] So, you can choose on a part of your body that either feels just completely fine, maybe almost neutral in a sense. But there's just nothing going on there. You know, it's just how it feels. It's your choice. You've got your whole body to choose from. So, you've got that part which has...

[00:04:55] It was painful. And before you start listening to this, it's kind of the reason why you're listening to this, maybe. And then you've got the other part. The comfortable part. So, what I'm going to focus on, I'm going to call them that... I don't know.

[00:05:23] Should we call one part becoming relaxed and the other part already relaxed? Should we do that? Because I don't like... Now, focus on the part that's really painful. That doesn't seem like very good wording. So, if you focus, you call... We call that part the starting to relax.

[00:05:53] Or becoming relaxed. Because that's kind of what's going to be happening. And then you've got the other part which is even more relaxed. Which is the part that's already relaxed. Okay? Because I don't want to keep saying the word... P-A-I-N... Throughout the recording.

[00:06:23] Because we're not focusing on that. We're focusing on the opposite to that. We're focusing on comfort. Relaxation. Looseness. Peacefulness. Letting go. You know? However, that can be the expectation. But all we're going to do in this recording...

[00:06:52] Just focus on the different parts of your body. That's it. That's all we're going to do. I'm not going to tell you to relax either of those parts of your body. All I'm going to ask you to do is... Focus on each part. And notice... How they feel. Now...

[00:07:18] Because I can't know what parts of your body you're talking about. That's why I'll say... Just focus on... Relaxing. Compared to... Really relaxed. So there's relaxing... And really relaxed. So the relaxing part is the one that... You'd like to relax more. And the other part... Is already relaxed.

[00:07:50] Relaxing. And really relaxed. Okay? So... And I'll talk throughout this... As well. Just chatting about stuff. You know? It's not like some serious... Super duper... Focusing attention. Blah blah blah. It's just a gentle... Chat. And I'll keep coming back...

[00:08:18] To the different parts of your body... Throughout. And Vinny will occasionally flap his ears. Because that's what he likes to do. Well he hasn't had his dinner yet. He had a bad tummy yesterday. But he seems to have... Yeah... Seems to have recovered. Which is good. So...

[00:08:51] Just wanted... To get in touch with... Notice how the part that feels... That's already relaxed. The really relaxed part. Notice how that part of your body feels. And if you were going to give that a... A gauge... Between zero and ten. Ten being completely relaxed. Zero being completely relaxed.

[00:09:21] And ten being like... Unpleasant. What would you give that now? What would you give that now? Hopefully it's a zero. Because that's the part that we need to be a zero at the moment. Maybe it's a one. Maybe it's got improvement. It can be improved. And now focus on the part of your body... That... Is relaxing.

[00:09:50] That we're looking to relax. As you focus on that part of your body... As you're focusing on that part of your body... Notice what you would give it between zero and ten. Maybe it would be higher than ten. On that scale of discomfort. Or you could call it the scale of comfort.

[00:10:20] Zero being completely comfortable. Ten being... The complete opposite. Just notice what you would give it now. And maybe also notice... How it's changed... Since... Before you pressed the play button on this recording. Maybe surprisingly.

[00:10:52] Not surprisingly that you pressed the play button. But... Perhaps you're a little bit surprised that... You feel... You're feeling different. You're feeling different. But maybe... Unsure why. But then it doesn't have to really make sense. Not really.

[00:11:25] It's really for me it's a case of... Does it help? It's as simple as that. And how much does it help... You to feel more comfortable. Even though really... We're not doing much. We're not doing much. Just moving your focus from...

[00:11:57] Relaxing... To really relaxed. And back to relaxing. So we'll go back to the feeling of really relaxed. Notice how that feels... In that part of your body. Maybe noticing... Even though you're not... Actually trying to relax... That part of your body.

[00:12:27] You're not actually... Actively doing anything... But just focusing on it. Noticing the physical sensations. As well as the sounds of Vinnie in the background. Clicking away as he chumps on his... Jaw... Bone... Thing...

[00:12:57] Whatever it is. Keeping relaxed. And keeping focused on that... Part of your body. And just noticing... Maybe there's different parts of that body...

[00:13:27] Part... That feel different. For example... If it was your leg... Maybe it's your thigh... You might feel... More relaxed at the top of your thigh... Than you do at the bottom of your thigh. Might feel more relaxed inside... Rather than... The bottom or... Maybe the middle part is the most relaxed. If you're focusing on your hand...

[00:13:55] Maybe you notice that... Your thumb is the most relaxed part. Or the palm of your hand is the most relaxed part. It's strange you know... Because when I mention these parts of my body... They really relax. I don't know if you have the same feeling... When I mention my thumb... Both my thumbs relaxed. I want to mention my...

[00:14:24] The palms of my hands... Both my hands are still relaxed. Maybe you're focusing on your eyes... Just focusing on my eyes... It causes your eyes to relax.

[00:14:51] You can almost feel the... The tension... Leave in my eyes... Starting to... Shrink and... Dissolve... It's quite nice... So now think... As you focus... On the...

[00:15:19] Relaxing part of your body... And just notice how it feels... Again you're not trying to...

[00:16:06] Focus in on different parts... Perhaps different... Different areas of the skin... Feel slightly... Changed... As if... The feelings are... They're not static... They're actually moving... The physical sensations are moving...

[00:16:35] Around... Not static... Not set... But fluid... Changeable... As we move back to that...

[00:17:03] Focus of the other part of your body... The part that's... Relaxing even more deeper... On it's own... We're not trying to cause it to relax... It's just... Relaxing... Just continues to relax... In it's own way... In it's own time... Notice how that feels...

[00:17:31] You notice that actually... That sense of relaxation... Is way more powerful... Than the other part of your body... The feeling of comfort... Is way stronger...

[00:18:05] Notice how... Nice it feels... To just... Be aware... Of the comfort... That's naturally... In that part of your body... That's relaxing...

[00:18:29] Notice that that feeling of comfort... Is... Automatically... Starting to spread... Through your body... Even though... We're not focusing on that... And even though... You've not requested that...

[00:18:59] To happen... It may just... Naturally occur... On it's own... As you move back to that... Part of your body... That is... Relaxing... With Vinnie... Chasing a fly... In the background...

[00:19:30] Every time I get... Every time things get... A little bit quiet... Vinnie has to kind of... Point out that... This is my recording... Daddy... I'm in charge... And I'm letting everyone know... That I'm still here... Who'd have thought... That a fly would give... So much pleasure... Honestly... Nothing else...

[00:20:00] Gets him as excited... As a fly... All them toys I bought him... And all he really wanted... Was a fly... Horrible thing flying around... Because he can't catch it... Well... Not yet... Maybe he will do one day... You never know... Sorry...

[00:20:29] I don't mean to distract you... So let's... Let's focus back on... The... Relaxing part... And just notice... How it feels... Again... We're not really... We've called it relaxing... In the other part... Relaxing even more... Or even more relaxed... Whatever you want to call it... But even though we're calling... This part... Relaxing... It's just so that you can... Differentiate between the two...

[00:20:59] Different parts... Because... As you start to focus on... Them... They may also... Almost... Seem like they're kind of... Melting together... So... You know... I'm trying to differentiate between them... So that you can... Focus... On the... Relaxing part... And give yourself... The opportunity... To really just... Focus...

[00:21:28] And notice... How that part of your body... Feels... In this moment... And I guess... It's also... An opportunity... To... Compare... And maybe even to challenge... The feelings... Or to question the feelings...

[00:21:57] The physical sensations... I mean... One question would be... Why is one part... Feeling... That way... And another part... Feels this way... But then another question... Might also be... How come... This part... That was feeling... A different way... Before... Now is starting to feel more like... The other part... Feeling that way...

[00:22:27] So we can get a little bit confusing... A little bit... Up in the air... You know... It's a bit like... You know when you're counting something... You're counting... Whether it's... Well you're working something out... On a calculator even... You know... And it's lots of different things... And maybe you're working out... The prices of all the groceries... You've bought... And you're working it out... Adding it all up...

[00:22:58] And then someone just... The window cleaner pops up... And starts cleaning the window... From outside... And he's like... But I live sixteen floors up... Where did you come from? How did you get such a long ladder? It could be a distraction... Or... It could be just something simple... You're having a picnic on a park... And then someone in a parachute... Drops down... And lands on you...

[00:23:28] And squashes your cake... Because you might have had like... A fairy cake that you had... That you've been looking forward to eating... For hours... But because you're with another human... You feel... Well I better eat the sandwiches first... Even though if there was no one else around... You'd just be eating the cream cake... Because they are so yummy... So you've been waiting to eat it... You've had the sandwiches... You didn't mind the sandwiches... But it wasn't really your first choice... You really would have just gone with a cake...

[00:23:59] And... And the fact that you've got a Kit Kat... As well... That's probably... Then a sandwich... Then a Kit Kat... To reward you for eating the sandwiches... Because that's what dessert is really isn't it? It's just a reward for eating the real food... That's what I used to think it was... When I was a kid... Eat all your dinner up... Otherwise you won't get any dessert... You won't get any ice cream... If you don't eat all your...

[00:24:31] Cabbage... Or whatever it was... Cabbage soup... Cabbage... I don't mind cabbage... Well I don't like cabbage... I don't... I have had cabbage that was nice... Cabbage can be really cooked nicely... And presented nicely... And tastes nice... I just never managed to do it myself... When I cook cabbage... It...

[00:25:00] Tastes like cabbage... I mean you could argue... Or would you expect it to taste like... Candy floss... Now that would be nice wouldn't it? I can't remember the last time I had candy floss... But I still know what it tastes like... And I still remember how sticky it is on my face... Yet I'm not sure if they've even had candy floss as an adult...

[00:25:29] Genuinely... I'm not sure... Love candy floss... Wow... I need to get some candy floss... Not now... But... Where do they sell candy floss? A fair... I need to go to a fair... Some kind of fair or fate... Or something like that... Where they sell candy flosses...

[00:26:00] Oh... It feels so nice... I'm just imagining eating a candy floss... Mmm... And that whole melting in your mouth... And also when you're a kid... There's something nice about... Making a mess... You know... Having your whole face covered in candy floss... You know...

[00:26:28] Making yourself a little beard and moustache and stuff... It's just... The big pink beard... Brilliant... So much fun... I'm not sure if I'd do that now... That I had a friend years ago... I'll tell you about this in a second... Um... So now go back to the part that's... Relaxing even deeper... Just focus on that part again...

[00:27:03] Sometimes it's... It can get hard to even... Get hold of any feelings... It's almost... Not that it's numb... But it's... It can feel like it's... Kind of just... I don't know... Like it's just... It's there... Feels relaxed... And... You know when I just said the word relaxed... Just then... My forehead...

[00:27:32] And my scalp... Just... Felt nice... I'm gonna say it again... See if it works again... Relaxed... It did... It worked again... Relaxed... That's nice... It's like it's trickling down to my eyes... Almost... That feeling...

[00:28:00] But then I'm noticing... Because I'm moving my arms around a little bit... I'm a bit... I do like to wave my hands around when I talk sometimes... And I've noticed that my shoulders are very loose... My arms... Are very light... Apart from all the muscles... That make them incredibly heavy... No... But they're light... I feel very... Quite fluffy... Is that a word? Fluffy? Is that a good expression of feeling?

[00:28:29] And my lower back... Where the arthritis is... It feels the same as any other part of my body... Which... It's strange... Because I've not even been focusing on it... It's just naturally... Gone that way... Followed the rest of the body... Yeah... So focus on that part again... To the part that's... Relaxing even more...

[00:28:58] Relaxing even more deeply... Just notice... It may be harder to even get in touch with... Much of feeling outside of just comfort... And then go back and focus... On the relaxing part... And again... You're not trying to change anything... You're just... Observing it...

[00:29:29] Really... Just observing it... And noticing... How it feels... Maybe... You may even be surprised at how it feels... But I know what you really want to hear about... Is a story... About the ice cream... So... I was probably about 14... And me and my friend Dean... We went down to the seafront...

[00:30:00] And... I don't think it was... It was in the summer... But it wasn't busy... So it was probably... Kind of maybe... Spring time... But it was during the week... So it was probably about Monday evening or something... So there wasn't a lot going on... We went into the arcade... And I saw... Someone working... In the ice cream parlor... In the arcade... Right... So I see... The ice cream vendor... And there's a bloke...

[00:30:29] Behind the counter... And like... I know him... And it was Danny... I suppose I should tell you more... Shouldn't I? Because you probably don't know who Danny is... Danny was... I reckon... Probably about 19... Maybe 20... But he was still... He was older than me... But a bit... You know... A few years older... But he was going to karate... Where I used to go... And...

[00:30:59] He'd been going for a few weeks... So I kind of knew him from there... So I'm like... Hey Danny... Because I wanted to pretend to my friend Dean... That I knew other people... Why are you calling me Danny? I said...

[00:36:01] Just notice how that feels... Try not to focus on ice cream... Mind you... You can focus on ice cream... It doesn't really make any difference... Just focus on the... The feeling you have... Notice how calm it is... Notice... The whole of that part of your body... Maybe you might notice how that...

[00:36:31] Has also spread even more... Throughout your body... To the point where you're just... Really chilled out... Really calm... Feeling really peaceful... And now focus again... On the part that's relaxing...

[00:37:02] Of a focus this time... Noticing what changes have occurred... Noticing how it feels different... From before... Not needing a reason... Not needing an explanation... Maybe just a bit of acceptance... A bit of... Realising that... Oh...

You just regurgitated to me what you remember I said, even though you weren't actually giving any kind of attention to what I was saying. I said, what's this got to do with ice cream?

[00:48:35] He said, nothing, but it's also got nothing to do with the, you know, relaxing different parts of your body either, has it? I said, what? He said, the podcast, the recording you're doing. Oh yeah, I forgot all about that. You shouldn't really. That's the point of what you're doing here. I mean, this isn't, you don't want to give the title old, the ice cream story, are you?

[00:52:40] but just relaxed at the end of the recording, when it's finished. You can enjoy that sense of comfort and peace. But also,

[00:53:09] it's nice to have those feelings of relaxation for longer, after the recording is ended,

[00:53:36] so that you can still benefit from listening to my voice. It's been a few hours time. By listening regularly,

[00:54:04] especially if you find, like some people do, and myself as well, sometimes I find one particular recording that really resonates with me, and I just listen to it over and over again.

[00:54:24] It's a recording from back to about 1999. It wasn't hypnosis, but it was a guided visualization, so it kind of was hypnosis really.

[00:54:51] I managed to find it again, and it still has the same effect. Part of it was the person's voice, which just felt so peaceful.

[00:55:21] I'd look forward to listening to her, in the morning and in the evening, before even pressing the play button, that as soon as I've done that, press the play button.

[00:55:48] This was in the days of CD players. Press the play button. In fact, it might have even been a tape recorder. I'd lie down on the bed, and then,

[00:56:15] even without necessarily listening to her words, because it's summarized really. It was as if my body, exactly what to do.

[00:56:41] The muscles just, almost went into automatic relaxation. Remember,

[00:57:08] my mind would slow down. I was listening to this recording, early days of learning hypnosis, and long before, I ever made videos,

[00:57:39] or audio recordings myself, because I didn't start doing that until 2006. I would to,

[00:58:09] just let go, in the person that I'm listening to, and that it's going to be, just as relaxing, if, if not more so, each time,

[00:58:39] you hear my voice, you may feel the same. Some people, have been listening to me for, over a decade, if you're not solidly,

[00:59:09] obviously not 24 hours a day. If you people come back, some people may be listening every day. And something that I do, which you may not realize,

[01:00:02] also, that I say, so if I said to you, focus on your feet, notice your feet, but I will be focusing on my feet.

[01:00:54] I said, focus on your hands, and maybe notice the difference, between each hand. Notice the, the air in the room, temperature of the room,

[01:01:15] may start to, notice, what almost feels like, a very light breeze. And though there, may not be any, type of breeze, at all, where you are, right now.

[01:01:51] And as you become, aware of,

[01:02:31] comes to, potentially, drifting, which may be, the reason, you're listening.

[01:03:01] Also notice, I've actually, fallen asleep.

[01:03:44] Listen back, to do the editing. I hear snoring. I don't remember, snoring. When I was, a pig, that's what I sound like, when I snore.

[01:04:39] You're feeling your feet, you're feeling, noticed,

[01:05:32] easier. Your breathing becomes, soul, muscle, relaxation. This allows you,

[01:06:14] necessarily, focusing,

[01:07:15] so very easily,

[01:08:17] visualize,

[01:09:13] just taking,

[01:10:37] to just,

[01:12:32] descend, that road, down.

[01:13:23] Because nothing, physical,

[01:13:53] sensations,

[01:18:11] wrists,

[01:18:45] muscles, front of your body,

[01:24:11] messages,

[01:25:43] spreading those signals, down your spine, or core, into your calf muscles,

[01:27:14] tips of your toes,

[01:30:08] in the center,

[01:32:29] space,

[01:34:44] tinga,

[01:36:45] in the center,

[01:46:54] and you could start, to notice, that, you, are feeling, more relaxed, even though, I've not, purposely, focused, your mind, upon, that, sense, of, physical comfort, that is growing, within you, throughout your body,

[01:47:29] starts to slow down. I guess, my speech, not being, particularly, fast, is generally,

[01:48:00] just by, listening, to my voice. You give yourself, an opportunity, to take a break, as it is, and to give yourself, a rest, giving yourself, permission,

[01:48:31] to take some time off, and to allow your body, to relax, which in turn, releases, the tension, any stresses, that you had,

[01:49:02] it's almost as if, the parts of your body, just open up, negativity, and at the same time, replacing, that negativity, with positive,

[01:49:33] and to, also, change, those feelings, increasing,

[01:50:37] just, reset, itself, to the settings, of,

[01:51:12] which allows, more, of, pleasure,

[01:51:19] and it feels nice,

[01:52:01] really does feel nice,

[01:52:04] and as I,

[01:52:44] focus, just by, focusing on it,

[01:53:46] focused on,

[01:53:47] this isn't a sterile,

[01:55:08] focus on your forehead, notice how,

[01:55:50] it's so light, at the same time, muscles around your eyes, relaxing,

[01:58:55] and your spine,

[01:59:30] either side of your spine, that starts to spread,

[02:00:37] also, seem to just, almost, deal to be an extra special,

[02:01:13] fits into your hips,

[02:03:15] muscles,

[02:03:17] to the start,

[02:19:14] counter matching, in a way, it's like, just walking down, some,

[02:20:01] down those steps, to, so, starting with number 20,

[02:53:07] that was a bit too quick,

[02:53:42] you try again, go a bit slower, you focus on,

[02:56:02] just notice, how, how you feel, generally, how your body feels, not necessarily even about, it's that space,

[02:56:32] space between, physically, or mentally, to just, sitting, or lying down, just being there, not saying anything,

[02:57:27] so there's that gap of, calmness, relaxation, it's a nice feeling, stresses, or discomfort, physically, or emotionally, moves them,

[02:58:09] to just, so I'm going to count again, from 10 down to 1, and notice, that, gap, it's almost like, the stress, and tension, falls in,

[02:59:21] seven,

[03:01:22] notice,

[03:01:23] just focusing,

[03:03:22] basically, the whole of your thigh, that leads, into your hip, now this is a big area,

[03:03:42] the strongest, muscles in your body,

[03:03:55] they sound really weird,

[03:05:14] TLC,

[03:07:31] but as you focus on your knees, regardless of how your knees feel,

[03:08:03] thighs feel,

[03:08:53] lightest, sprain, it's kind of strange, in a way, when you think that, logically, our wrists are a lot thinner, than the rest of our arms, which is,

[03:09:23] can't see any problem with that, if we're just picking stuff up, cause, so much thinner, from a physics perspective, or logical even, it doesn't really make sense, that all this weight, would ultimately be,

[03:09:53] resting, orts us, orts our body,

[03:10:24] helps us, there's the calf muscles, of course, I was younger, I couldn't see the point in calf muscles, didn't seem to do anything,

[03:10:59] calf muscles get some work,

[03:11:00] gonna focus on your feet,

[03:11:52] or just gonna focus on the legs, so maybe, I should focus on your feet, a little bit, the same as you, have your thighs, in your waist,

[03:12:33] there's still that, sensation of, muscles,

[03:13:03] big, strong muscles, sensitive, to the touch,

[03:13:50] the muscle, there's the blood vessels, the arteries, I guess sometimes, it'd be nice, if you could actually, put your fingers, inside your thighs, and massage, massage on the outside,

[03:14:21] be able to just massage, inside your thighs, massaging the thighs, and just gently,

[03:15:18] it's really sensitive, there are nice, when you stroke, it's an area, that's not really, it's almost like a hidden, it's almost, the sensitivity, which is a little bit,

[03:15:56] also it's protected,

[03:15:57] because they deserve,

[03:17:37] to be treated, the precious bones, that they are, because they're so precious, you start to,

[03:19:45] they're so strong,

[03:20:50] have relief, when they sit down,

[03:22:09] they deserve, they deserve, to take some time,

[03:23:11] because the legs, are so,

[03:23:13] it feels straight,

[03:24:09] almost as if the muscles, are just relaxed, so much, as the tension, has reduced,

[03:25:55] if you just focus on, just the number, and notice, in this moment, those numbers,

[03:26:18] not just in your body, but also, you just notice, how you feel,

[03:27:38] as you notice, gradual, you also, begin to notice, and be aware, of how your mind, starting, to, slow down,

[03:28:10] this is just a natural, thing, a special procedure, it's just natural, because as your, body relaxes, as your mind, as your mind, starts to relax, it's just, the more your body, relaxes, it's just a continuous, circle, of relaxation,

[03:28:43] and there's that, even if there's, background sound, or your side, or mind, still, going to be, with music, of course,

[03:29:17] you're very likely, not going to be, sitting in distractions, and when you, stop thinking, about stuff, relaxation,

[03:29:49] automatically, rises, a sense of comfort, without trying, to build it up, into something, fantastical, this is just, a natural process,

[03:30:19] something, that's, it's almost, you know, the sense, of relaxing, and really, when, it's not something, that you can, really force,

[03:30:42] the process,

[03:31:42] with, for yourself,

[03:32:14] relaxing, majority, of the process,

[03:32:23] you can also,

[03:32:57] if you choose, stay,

[03:33:51] just, observing, sensation,

[03:40:03] focus on those,

[03:40:05] this is how,

[03:53:34] you just, to be honest,
